A Movement for Confidence, Expression, and Breaking the Rules
For years, men have been told what they should wear, how they should look, and what parts of themselves they should hide.
Too tight.
Too revealing.
Too different.
Too confident.
The truth is simple: confidence shouldn’t come with rules.
Free the Bulge is a movement created to help men feel comfortable, confident, and unapologetic about who they are and what they wear. Whether it’s briefs, bikinis, jockstraps, thongs, spandex, swim briefs, or anything in between, the goal is the same:
Wear what makes you feel confident.
This movement started through conversations on the Brief Talk Podcast and the community around Underwear News Briefs. Over time, it became clear that many guys share the same experience — feeling judged for wearing what they love, even when it makes them feel their best.
Free the Bulge exists to change that.
This isn’t about shock value or being provocative.
It’s about confidence, community, and normalizing male body confidence.
Why Free the Bulge Matters
For many men, underwear and gear are more than just clothing. They can represent:
• Confidence
• Self-expression
• Personal identity
• Feeling sexy in your own skin
• Breaking away from expectations
Yet society still pushes the idea that men should hide their bodies, avoid standing out, and stick to what’s “acceptable.”
Free the Bulge challenges that thinking.
We believe men should feel comfortable wearing what they want — whether that’s a bold swim brief at the beach, spandex at the gym, or your favorite pair of briefs every day.
Confidence isn’t something you should have to apologize for.
The Phases of the Free the Bulge Movement
Free the Bulge is being built step by step. This isn’t a one-time campaign. It’s an ongoing movement designed to grow with the community.
Phase 1 – Awareness
The first phase focuses on starting the conversation.
Through blog posts, podcast episodes, social media, and community discussions, we’re talking openly about confidence, body image, and breaking outdated rules about what men should wear.
This phase is about helping guys realize:
You’re not the only one who feels this way.
Phase 2 – Community
Once awareness grows, the next step is building community.
Free the Bulge will create opportunities for men to connect, share experiences, and support each other. That includes:
• Live podcast discussions
• Community conversations
• Social media engagement
• Opportunities for readers and listeners to get involved
Confidence grows faster when you realize there are thousands of other guys out there just like you.
Phase 3 – Stories
One of the most powerful parts of the movement will be sharing real stories.
Men will be invited to share how they discovered confidence in what they wear, how they overcame insecurities, and what embracing their personal style has meant for them.
These stories will help inspire others who may still be struggling with the same feelings.
Real experiences help people realize they’re not alone.
Phase 4 – Growth
As the movement grows, so will the opportunities to expand it.
This may include:
• Live discussions and events
• Community features
• Creative projects
• Collaborations with brands and creators
• New ways to celebrate confidence and self-expression
The long-term goal is simple:
Create a culture where men feel confident wearing what they love.
