Men’s Underwear

Category

This is the shoot I was talking about in posts and podcasts. One of our first shoots that we did and I was so proud of it and you can see how we’ve grown over the years.

Here is a preview of the 2012 Underwear News Briefs Swimwear Guide. We did our first shoot and hope you enjoy. This video features our top sponsor Pistol Pete (http://www.pistolpete.com). We will release one more video before it comes out in late May 2012

The Butch Bear Knuckle Boxer Brief was provided by Butch underwear. All opinions expressed in this review are my own.

Rating: 9.2/10 (Average of the ratings below)

  • Daily Fit: 9/10
  • Sizing: 10/10
  • Construction: 9/10
  • Styling: 8/10
  • Daily Performance: 10/10

Pros:

  • Made for bigger guys and will fit you the way underwear should be
  • Sizing should fit any guy up to XXX-Large
  • Not a boxer brief fan but the pair gave ample support
  • The waistband was super comfy

Cons:

  • Some guys may not like the classic design
  • Some guys may not like the limited color choices

Tim’s Recommendation:

I’m not a fan of trunks in general, but this pair surprised me. It gave me ample support and felt more like a brief than a trunk. If you’re looking to try something new or need more classics in your drawer, this pair is for you.

First, it’s a given that I am not a big trunk/boxer brief fan. But I always review a pair with an open mind. This is my second pair of Butch underwear, and after the Brief, I was looking forward to this review. It was going to be interesting to see how they made trunks. I didn’t notice a built-in pouch, so I was hoping for the best.

I wore these on a busy day when I would be moving around a lot and out and about. The heat in GA has been 90’s and HUMID. This was an extra complication for this review. I hoped they held up like the briefs and didn’t get hot, bunch, or be uncomfy.

As the day went on and I was running errands and working. I forgot I was wearing trunks, which is rare for me when I sport them. It’s usually a leg ride up, or it bunches up, or the pouch isn’t holding up. Even without a built-in pouch, this pair gave me support, and I didn’t have to continually adjust or wish I was wearing a brief.

Sizing is always an issue when you are a bigger guy. Not with Butch, they have sizing from Small to XXX-Large. I got an XL, and it fit perfectly! They are based out of Australia and have pretty standard sizing. If you are on the larger side, check out the size guide for the right size. I don’t think you will go wrong by following their direction.

This pair was just like the brief. It was made with a fantastic waistband that never dug into me or made me feel the pair wasn’t made for me. The fabric feels terrific, as well. I’m still surprised I liked this pair as much as I did. It’s very rare. I wear trunks and enjoy them. As the last podcast, I mentioned a few I liked, but there aren’t many

If you are a bigger guy give Butch underwear a try, you won’t be disappointed.

I know you guys have questions about underwear, swimwear, or even the guys on the panel. We are sorta relaunching the “Ask UNB” segment where you can send in a question and you will get our expert opinion on your question. I mean where else can you get six guys to answer your undies questions.

As I said you can ask us any underwear/swimwear question:

  • What’s the best start thong?
  • What is the best pouch?
  • Where can you wear a thong in public?

and more. You can send your question in several ways. The first is email, you can email info@underwearnewsbriefs.com, just put ASK UNB in the subject. Or you can leave us a voice message with your question, that we can play on the podcast. Lastly, you can text us your question, and we can answer it! The number for both of those 678-561-4866

Come on guys send us some questions!!!

I love singlets, that’s no surprise for many long time readers. One brand that makes some of my favorite singlets is N2N Bodywear. I have more by them than any other brand. It seems lately they are making some amazing singlets for a limited time, like the Mercury singlets (I still missed getting the black one in my size, DOH!)

One of the newest is the Summer Sport Singlet. This new singlet has some bright and fun colors for summer. The colors are Aqua, purple, and line. But as you can see in the pics the front is the color and the back is a grey color. With one addition, a cellphone pocket on the side in the same color. This is great if you can work out in these (if your gym allows it).

Some features of this pair is:

  • Super fun summer colors
  • N2N Bodywear branding on the chest
  • Cotton/Spandex fabric
  • Free forming pouch
  • Cellphone pocket

PAIR: N2N Bodywear Summer Sport Singlet
COLORS: Aqua, Lime, and Purple
FABRIC: 95% cotton / 5% spandex
SIZES: Small – X-Large
PRICE: $36.00

This year we are starting to see a lot more ripstop nylon undies. Now BodyAware has a new Slippery Rip-Stop Brief. We saw some of these in the 80’s and 90’s, and then they disappeared. Now they are returning to the world of men’s underwear.

Why is ripstop making a come back? Well, glad you asked, the fabric feels amazing, it’s smooth and almost silk-like! The downside is it’s not a fabric that is form-fitting. If you love spandex and tighter fabrics, you may not like it. I am a fan of tight undies but there is something about ripstop that feels amazing to me.

This is what BodyAware says about the pair

If you like the slippery and buttery-soft feel of rip-stop nylon, then this is the underwear for you! Lightweight and supple, yet almost indestructible in fabric and construction, the Slippery Rip-Stop Brief is slightly see-through due to the thinness of the fabric. The simple yet sleek design incorporates a comfortable elasticated waist and leg, and a contouring pouch with just enough room. Comfortable full-back.

This is one pair I want to get and give it a try. I want to see if it lives up to my memories of other rip stop pairs I had back in the day.

PAIR: BodyAware Slippery Rip Strop Brief
COLOR: Blue
FABRIC: 100% Nylon
SIZES: Small – 2XL
PRICE: $22.00

VAUX ZIPPER JOCKSTRAPS AND HARNESSES BY CELLBLOCK 13

Express yourself with our new Vaux VX2 Zipper Jockstrap and Harness. It’s a unique take on fetish gear that’s going to get you noticed.

The Vaux VX2 Zipper Jockstrap and Harness features a fresh approach to fetish wear with a pouch and straps made of a unique coated printed neoprene rubber in sexy florals and psychedelic leopard prints. The jock also has a functional zipper right down the center for easy access (or exposure). Wear the harness with the matching jock, hook it up to the belt loops of your favorite jeans or remove the down straps and wear it as a stand-alone harness.

Did we mention that the harness is also fully adjustable both chest-wise and length-wise with a series of sexy black snaps

CELLBLOCK 13 TITAN ZIPPER BACK SHORTS

The hottest street wear going: At first glance, the Cellblock 13 Titan Zipper Short is a good looking pair of denim shorts that are not only super comfortable but out of the box they already feel lived-in, like your go to shorts you’ve been wearing for years except they’re new.

BUT… these shorts have a secret, the back center seam is actually a fully functional zipper opening up all sorts of piggy possibilities. In fact, it’s not just a slit but the zipper runs from the belt loop all the way down around your crotch for super easy access.

Available in army-green, navy-blue, black and camouflage.

Please note: We’ve recently been restocked on the Titan Shorts but Cellblock 13 is running low and didn’t have any large in the camouflage shorts to send us.

KING DICK – MAKE A STATEMENT SPORTS JOCKS

TOP, BOTTOM, VERSATILE and now DOMINANT and SUBMISSIVE

A jockstrap that’s simple, bold and classic. Ok, this is King Dick so you know there’s more: Sure, this is a great looking traditional sports jock with a pouch made of moisture wicking webbing plus an elastic waistband with horizontal sports striping BUT…

…This jock has one bonus and defining feature your other sports jocks don’t have – it lets everyone know your position in life. Dead center on the almost 2 inch wide waistband is a patch with a big, bold DOM or SUB in blue on white.

With one inch wide comfort elastic leg straps also in white.

When we talk about models, lately, it’s a tricky subject. Some guys want to see the traditional models, and then some guys want to see real guys in undies. And there is room for everyone in the world of underwear. Having worked on the blog for 12 years, I can see the issue from brands and consumers. This is my take on models in the Underwear industry.

Traditional Models

Brands use traditional models in their posts because they have a brand image they want to convey. It could be athletic, muscular, more realistic, or even plus-sized guys (saying plus in the world of modeling). Granted, very few of us reading this will ever be like the model in the underwear picture. We want to feel sexy and confident in our underwear. If it looks that great on him than it will look awesome on me. And to be fair, pictures do sell underwear. A hot picture will increase the sales of a pair over a pair without a hot pic. I have seen this time and time again. Brands are in the business to make money, and they do what will sell undies.

Real Guys – Non-Traditional Models.

I like many of you want to see more real guys in undies. This includes all shapes, sizes, and colors. I will give it to many brands starting to do more real guys, and those should be applauded, like Yocisco. They recently had a beefy guy star in some of their pics. I think many brands are hesitant because of backlash from people online. Before you start going off on me, just wait. We have experienced this first hand. When we first started doing our UNB shoots, we used more real guys. Not all of them had abs; some were thin, some were a little bigger (for models). I was super proud of these shoots. However, when we posted them on social media, get got comments like “These aren’t models,” “Where did you find these guys” “If this is what you consider models, I’m unfollowing.”

Yes, guys said those things and more over the years. It sucks when we invest our time and money into a shoot to get this feedback. If you want to see real guys, like, comment, share, and buy. When you do buy, tell them you bought because of the real guy or non-traditional models.

I personally think we need a mix of real and traditional models. We are a diverse group of guys, gay, straight and bi, looking for different things in undies. As the industry grows more into the straight market, we will see marketing evolve even more. This is a quick post I threw together, and I would love you guys to share your feedback.

New exclusive photos from Jockstrap Central:

We just launched a new line of jockstraps and harnesses by Cellblock 13’s more flamboyant brand Vaux featuring our brand new model Frankie.

This amazing collection is made with unique coated printed neoprene rubber with a functional zipper right down the center of the pouch. In stunning florals and psychedelic leopard prints.

We’ve been trying to get Frankie in front of our cameras for a few years but finally made it happen. You may recognize him if you’re tuning in to Drag Race Canada airing right now as he’s one of the Pit Crew. In fact, we now have three models in the Pit Crew… Frankie, Evan and Chance.

In case you can use them, here’s our exclusive photos of our Frankie rocking the new Vaux gear.
