When I say cups, what do you think of days playing little league and how incredibly annoying they were to wear. Those days are long gone. The new cups are made to feel super comfy and perfect for sports and other things. There is a thriving fetish community around cups. It seems to be taking off a little more than in years past. I see many guys on my Twitter into them and posting pics of them in and their favorite cups.

I have liked cups for a while but haven’t worn them recently. I remember working at a bank in my 20s, and I wore my bike cup under my dress pants. It was fun wearing it, and no one knew what I had on under my pants. The cup I wore was one of the old banana-style cups that, in my opinion, are the most comfortable ones to wear. Unfortunately, they don’t make this style anymore. Today’s cups use modern technology to keep your boys safe, constructed using carbon fiber, metal, and space-aged plastics.

I decided to run through some of the new modern cups out there. Some cups are made for sports like baseball, martial arts, and more. So no matter if you are looking for a new cup for sports or fun, this will be an excellent list for you to shop. Note that all these brands have many more cups than I am listing, so if you are interested, go to their sites and check out all their different products.

lobloo THAI CUP 2.0 Professional Athletic Groin Cup

When most guys in the States think cups, they think of baseball and possibly football. However, there is a world of cups out there for martial arts. The Lobloo Thai cup is made of metal instead of plastic, which can take heavy impacts and still protect the goods.

I love these cups because they are different from those we wear for sports, specifically baseball.

(include joffa cup as best mention)

Nutty Buddy Athletic Cups

Nutty Buddy is a very interesting company that makes cups. They created a new design (as you can see). I have the very first version of this cup. I want to say it came out in the late 2000s, if I remember correctly. They have kept innovating on the design.

“The NuttyBuddy® athletic cup is like no other cup ever designed. Our cups are made to the highest quality using a high impact resistant polycarbonate material – the same material used in bullet resistant glass. Yes, it costs more to make our cup, but your Boys are worth it. What truly sets NuttyBuddy® apart from our competitors is the anatomically correct, patented design that makes it the most comfortable cup on the market. Our design allows the wearer to move with ease while it cradles the anatomy. Something we like to call, Protecting the Boys”

It retails for $34.99

Shock Doctor Carbon Flex Cup

It used to be that Bike was the name in cups. I know growing up, that was all I would see in sporting goods stores. However, I think a new brand has taken over that spot, and it’s Shock Doctor. This company has had innovative and unique cups over the years. Shocker, but this is another cup I own as well. I bought it for a shoot we did back in 2012.

This is what Shock Doctor says about the Carbon Flex Cup. “Ideal for elite athletes, the Ultra Pro Carbon Flex Cup offers multi-layer protection designed to shield and transfer shock away from areas where protection is most needed. The flex curve design forms to the body to provide unrestricted range-of-motion and comfort” They are currently sold out on the Shock Doctor site.

McDavid Flexcup

McDavid is another one of those brands that are known for sporting goods. They have been around for as long as I can remember, actually founded in 1969 and incorporated in 1980. If I remember correctly, McDavid came out with some classic cups back in the day. While not as well known as Bike, they have had jocks and cups that were good quality over the years.

Their cup is the Flexcup. “The FlexCup™ offers enhanced protection and fit with a deep, contoured shape to keep you protected where it counts. Features soft, impact-absorbing edges and sides to conform, cushion and comfort. Perfect for Sports such as Adult/Youth Baseball-Softball and Football.”

The cost is $9.99

Meister Carbon Flex Groin Protector Cup

Most of the cups are made for team sports like football and baseball. The Meister Cabon flex groin protector cup is made by a company known for MMA & Boxing gear. Its function is similar to the lobloo cup. It looks a lot like the Shock Doctor Carbon Flex cup. However, it can be used for baseball and other sports. The best thing is its price is just $9.99

“Built from super strong injected Polypropylene, the Meister Carbon Flex Groin Cup is designed to protect and minimize impact. With a molded thermoplastic rubber edge, this cup is also designed to fit comfortably and not slide or shift. The ventilation design also adds air flow to increase wearing comfort.”

Its price is $9.99

Hayabusa Steel Armored Cup

Cups aren’t just made of carbon fiber and plastics. Some cups are made of metal, steel to be precise. These are to protect from high impacts at close range. This could be MMA fighting, boxing, or anything that can cause damage. The Hayabusa steel armored cup is designed for experienced fighters to feel 100% confident that they are protected from a low blow.

“Hayabusa’s Steel Armored Cup uses premium lightweight cast steel designed and molded for an absolutely perfect shape and fit for maximum comfort. The outer and inner padding and soft laces deliver a feel that other cups are not able to achieve. No other cup provides the secure fit and shape like this Steel Cup for best performance and safety.”

Its price is $24.00

Nutshellz® Level 1 White Cock& Balls

Nutshellz is the last cup company we will cover! I saved them for last because I have heard so many good things about them from many cup lovers. The next thing to know is they are super expensive cups but offer some of the most protection of any cup on the market. All of their cups seem to be made from bulletproof materials. Yes, you read that right; you will be protected if you take a bullet to the groin. For this reason, we will cover two of the cups in their lineup.

The first is the White Cock & Balls. As you can see, it’s a little whimsical with a cock (not that kind) and lots of balls printed on the cup. Don’t worry if you don’t want this print. They also have some solids, but I couldn’t pass this up for the cup post.

“Nutshellz® Level I groin protector combines ultimate comfort with ultimate strength. Made with the world’s strongest bullet resistant materials, and engineered with a unique ergonomic design, the Level I is the most elite cup for the serious athlete.

The cups are hand-made to high standards and specifications in the United States. All Level I cups are made with ballistic grade Aramid and carbon fiber, creating one of the strongest protections on the market. To make them easy to wear over prolonged periods, they are made with a urethane comfort surround which helps protect against discomfort on the field and even when sitting down”

Its price is $175

Nutshellz® Level 3 OVER-ARMOR Groin Protection

The last cup in this is the Nutshellz Level 3 over-armor Groin protection. It’s the most expensive cup, I think, on the market. It’s made for police and military applications. This cup has a disclaimer. You can’t send it or buy it in restricted countries. There is a pending patent application as well. I doubt very few will buy this cup or have it in their collection.

“FIRST EVER LEVEL 3 GROIN PROTECTION SYSTEM. OUR PATENT PENDING LEVEL 3 PROTECTOR IS AN ULTRA HIGH MOLECULAR WEIGHT POLYETHELENE RIFLE PLATE CONTOURED TO MOVE WITH THE WEARER. THE Nutshellz® GROIN CUP IS WORN UNDER THE CLOTHING AND ACTS AS THE RESTING/PIVOT POINT OF THE PLATE. THE OPERATOR RETAINS FULL MOVEMENT CAPABILITIES AND FINALLY HAS THE SAME BALLISTIC PROTECTION LEVEL COVERING HIS GROIN AS HE DOES IN HIS PLATE CARRIER”

Its price is $900

I included all these cups cause I thought they were some of the coolest and best on the market. They can be functional or aesthetic, depending on your use. Meaning they can be used in sports or for fetishwear.

I have two cups I want to mention because they are super cool and no longer around. The first is the Bike Banana cup. This design is one of my favorite designs for a cup. It’s comfortable, feels excellent without restricting, and gives the most coverage. Plus, it’s made for guys who need a bigger cup. Some can be super small. The bad thing is they stopped making these back in the late 90s or early 2000s. I have one, and it’s one I love to wear.

The next cup is one made for Hockey. If you have been a hockey fan or gear head for any time, you know about the Joffa cup. This cup I found incredibly hot back in the day. It’s a softer cup built into a jock. I used to see so many pics of guys in them back in the day—some of the photographers used them often in shoots. In the early 2010s, Rebock bought the JOffa company and continued to make the cups for a little while. But shortly after purchasing them, Rebock discontinued. I snagged one or two of them from International Jock, one of the few places outside of sporting goods/hockey gear sites to buy them. The only downside is the cup is super tiny. You won’t fit in this cup if you fill out a pouch.

If you love cups or wear them, send us your favorites out there. I would love to do a follow-up post about what you guys wear for sport or fun.
