Over the Christmas Holiday I had a lot of down time to recharge. Working two jobs before the holidays takes it out of you! While sitting around I started to think about classic underwear. Such as traditional white briefs. Knowing our readers the way I do, few of you out there would actually wear them on a regular basis. Granted, I think every guy should have a pair of them in his undies drawer.
What classifies a pair as a classic. I think the majority of the public classifies the conservative as a classic. It’s time to change that mentality. Real underwear lovers like styles outside of basic briefs. They include thongs, bikinis, and boxer briefs. They can be made out of any fabric from cotton to mesh.
Thinking of pairs over the last 10 years got me thinking which pairs are a classic. One of them immediately came to mind was the Cocksox CX01 Bikini. It has been a mainstay at Cocksox since their beginning. The pair has changed very little over the years, outside the colors. The fit and pouch is one of the best on the market. The colors have been amazing in the CX01 over the years. I think it’s a true statement that it can be made in prints and solids and still maintain its design. That is a sign of a classic. The colors have been every color of the rainbow over the years. The prints include camo, stripes and more!

My overall impression of the line is the prints are very amazing. Cocksox has their own style and way of doing things. It could be the Aussie way of life or I think the better explanation is they really love making underwear/swimwear. It really shows in everything they do. I personally am glad they are doing it too! They have been one of my favorites and each time new pairs are released that place gets reaffirmed in my underwear/swimwear drawer!

Undies Monday is all about wearing something awesome! Its staring the week in wearing something to make you feel comfortable and sexy at the same time. Underwear gives you some extra confidence when you wear something awesome. Cocksox is one of those brands that is awesome.
While in Vegas a few years ago they told us about some customer stories how awesome they feel wearing the Cocksox underwear. You can do this not in the classic bikini, the CX01, but in all their underwear. One of the new colorful fun pairs is the Trunk (CX68).
The new color designs tie in the pouch, body and trim/wasitband colors. The color combinations are super fun. No one may see these bright colors but you will know you are wearing it. When you guys saw that the endowed series and Cocksox, I know some of you fully expected the CX01 Bikini. Granted it is one of my favorite pairs that I wear on a regular basis. I wanted to profile some of the other amazing pairs Cocksox has in their catalogue. I have tried every style they have to offer. Those range from the thong to the boxer brief and everything in between.
Why did I choose the CSX03 Waistband Brief? Not every guy wants to wear a bikini. Shocking it is for me to believe that! There are guys who like more classic styled underwear. The waistband brief has that classic look. The Waistband brief has elastic waistband with a fuller body than the bikini.
So why is this pair in the endowed series? Its because of the amazing Cocksox pouch. It has been hands down one of my top 5 pouches ever. Its supportive and fits most guys really well. I also don’t think this pair shows off as much as the CX01. That’s just my personal experience, or I just haven’t noticed it as much.
Cocksox uses some great fabrics in their underwear. The suplex/lycra blend will really conform to your body. Especially the pouch, because there is nothing worse than having a brief and the pouch looses shape or stretches out. The fabric in Cocksox has never had these issues!
The colors in the Waistband brief range for classic to fun. There are four colors in the range, Black, Grey, Purple and Aqua. It is also part of the CSX collection. Meaning the waistband will have CSX instead of Cocksox. So you can be a little more discreet in your underwear and not flash it around.

Its Thong Thursday and I have 5 suggestions to make it a fun day! You maybe going, “Yeah but you’re a big thong lover.” I’m not one who normally wears thongs.” You would be wrong! Ok let’s talk swimwear. Every year we get awesome swimwear from companies around the world. But we are always on the quest for something different, sexy and fun. This is a group of swimwear I have been eagerly awaiting. In February in Las Vegas they showed me the samples and I was blown away. At the same time they swore me to secrecy not so say a word. It was hard but I did it! The new Neoprene line is out!
The firs thing you have to know about the line is its made with the amazing Cocksox pouch! Especially the Neoprene Swim Brief.(above) It has the same cut as the CX02 brief. Add this with the skin tight neoprene and you have one of the hottest swimsuits of the summer. This is my personal favorite of the line! Also did I mention it has a quick release buckle on the right hip?
The other two styles, I will say that are equally as hot, are the Neoprene Boy Leg Brief (above) and Neoprene Trunk (below). The Boy Leg has two cut outs on each hip. It’s not over the top but adds to the sexy factor of the pair. For those who don’t want to show off as much skin but still want Neoprene check out the Trunk. Its a full cut trunk and the pouch isn’t as pronounced as the brief!
The colors of the pair are equally as hot. They are Stealth Black, Covert Blue and Impact Red. Some awesome colors for summer time. The advantages of the Neoprene is that it conforms to any body. Plus its made for rigorous activity in the surf and sun.
This is a line that I def would expect from Cocksox. They are all about fun and making guys feel sexy but having wearable underwear and swimwear. They stepped outside the box and knocked it out of the park. This is why I love them! They don’t come out with new lines till they are ready. When they do they are always fun and amazing. It gets me thinking as to what they will do for their 10th anniversary!

Recently, I posted an amazing Calvin Klein ad from the ‘80s on Twitter and asked the question “Should we bring back ads like this?”
Recently, I tweeted an amazing Calvin Klein ad from the 80’s and asked the question “Should we bring back ads like this?” That prompted a great conversation with one of our followers about Jim Palmer and other ads from the 70’s and 80’s. The funny thing is the follower is 25, so he wasn’t even born when many of the ads ran, but had a big appreciation for the ads.
Looking back at ads of that time, they featured sports stars of the day. The biggest and most well- known was Jim Palmer of the Baltimore Orioles. He graced the pages of People magazine wearing just a pair of Jockey Elance and a smile! Do you think you would see Derek Jeter in underwear ads these days? Nope! Very few American athletes endorse underwear. In European countries and Australia, for example, athletes like Ben Cohen and Cristiano Ronaldo are not only modeling in and endorsing underwear lines but also creating their own.
Earlier this week, I checked on my storage unit – seems like my entire life is kept there these days – and noticed a box was collapsing. While reorganizing the boxes, I discovered a plastic notebook containing my underwear ads and decided to bring them home. I’ve been thinking of framing them, rather than storing them in a binder.
These recent events made me think. Are underwear ads art?
I loved that the 70’s ads were more staged like a guy preparing for his day, getting dressed or shaving. This was the start of the sports starts dropping their trousers and showing underwear. Jockey had the best underwear ads out there. Some may think, “Jockey? Really?” But yes, they brought color and bikini cuts to the men’s underwear world, breaking away from the traditional “tighty whities”. The ads definitely showed off the difference in their underwear, but still looked like classic ads.
The 80’s brought us the Calvin Klein ad (see main image) with the model in white briefs against the white wall. This definitely looked much more like a work of art than an ad. These ads were noticed throughout the fashion industry and the public. They sparked stories in mainstream media, on shows such as Entertainment Tonight, and other outlets. CK produced other ads (one where the same model is taking off his shirt), but none received the same attention. This iconic ad prompted other underwear companies to produce more artistic ads.
Calvin Klein continued to dominate the market with their ads in the ‘90s, not only for the underwear but also for the models selected. One of the first, and most notorious, was Mark Wahlberg. Marky Mark, at the time, was all over billboards in Times Square in the popular black and white CK ads. He posted in his underwear when few would even talk about men’s underwear. (I believe these ads sparked the boxer brief craze that is still alive today.)
The next decade saw a change in men’s underwear ads. Print publications were losing circulation – mainstream magazines didn’t include many ads, but gay magazines continued. The ads were getting more expensive with less return. So what did the brands do? They turned to the internet, getting their images out to a wider audience. The brands started producing amazing pics of their underwear.
Like many others, the online pictures caught my eye and were the main reason I discovered many new brands, like Cocksox. I saw the first pictures of Earl Sandor modeling the red CX01, and knew I needed a pair right then! Gone were the days of basic product shots. We wanted to see more lifestyle pictures, rather than close-up shots.
Other brands have begun making some great ads as well…
C-IN2 produced the series “Jail”, which was very provocative and ahead of its time. It told a story rather than just show off the underwear. After a few years, they followed with another series (shot by photographer Rick Day – see the pic at the bottom) titled “Parole”. C-IN2 accompanied their photo work with videos on YouTube. The used the stories from the photos and videos to create advertising campaigns. This brand continues to produce some of those most creative ads in the world of underwear in recent years.
When 2EROS first came on the market in 2007-2008, they had amazing retro-inspired pictures that went along with the great background and glasses for their Victory line. Each collection since has added more and more amazing pictures. They use backgrounds, such as beaches, to show off their underwear and swimwear. The current collections feature model Ryan Greasley (shot by Simon Le). They don’t create a story behind their lines, like C-IN2, but consistently deliver great pictures.
Underwear Nation has turned underwear advertising into an art form. They aren’t a brand, but a retailer. Each month they profile a different pair for the Underwear of the Month Club and create a campaign around it. Their photographer, Jerrad Matthew, has done some of the hottest work in men’s underwear. The locker room campaign for the Timoteo Varsity series stands out most. In it, model Justin Leonard wears the blue and white underwear against a backdrop of a red locker room, allowing the underwear to really stand out. They create a new campaign for each month’s pair. Club subscribers get a post card featuring that month’s ad along with the underwear. (I’ve told them they need to create posters of the amazing pictures!)
There are so many other companies that I wish I could cover here, but that would be a super long post. We at Underwear News Briefs will continue to discuss and showcase the brands’ photography. We all love the amazing pictures, but we’re not knocking any brands not mentioned. Photography is one of the most expensive things about men’s underwear (I know from experience shooting our guides!), and not every brand has that amount of time and money. We want to spotlight some that are doing it right and creating images that could easily be hung on the wall as art.
I’ve profiled just a few that stick out in my head, but there are tons more out there doing amazing work! Future featured brands include: Modus Vivendi, aussieBum, Marcuse, and Teamm8.

You may have seen some of these amazing pics on Twitter. Cocksox has release a new colors in their swim and they had Scott Cullens model the swimwear. These pictures have been amazing! They were shot by Mark Henderson.
As we stated earlier we its Australia Day! And what timing that Cocksox released new colors in their swimwear lines! How many colors? Each style has up to six new colors! Cocksox always picks great colors to make their underwear and swimwear. The styles with new colors are CX02N Brief, CX04 Draw String Brief and CX22N Thong.
So what are the six colors? Amalfi Green, Marlin Blue, Shiraz, Gunmetal Grey, Code Red and White Pointer.

The CX04 Drawstring Swim Brief is available in Gunmetal Grey, White Pointer, Marline Blue and Code Red
The CX22N Swim thong is now available in Code Red, White Pointer and Marline Blue.
I really like these updated colors. My favorite of course is the green but I think the Shiraz is a great color for swim that we haven’t seen too often. But really any color would be amazing to wear on the beach or pool. You can find these at the Cocksox website.
I know we ask you guys what you want for Holidays. I thought I would share what I have on my wish list for this Holiday season. There are some great pairs out there right now that I really want to try or have my collection updated:

Ergowear BSC Bikini – One of my very first brands I discovered that fit guys who need extra room in the pouch. I also love a bikini cut
Andrew Christian Trophy Boy Brief – I really love this line from Andrew Christian. I want to spice up my underwear drawer with some bright colors and this yellow would be perfect
aussieBum Billy Boy Brief – This line from aussieBum reminds me of the underwear I bought growing up. The prints are amazing and fun. Plus it’s not a small bikini cut but just right.
Mundo Unico Short Boxer Pinos – One of my latest things I love in underwear are patterns and prints. Mundy Unico has always done amazing work in both. Even before it became one of the in things in underwear. I love the Unico Pouch as well!
N2N Bodywear Power Mesh Jock – Now I couldn’t all do briefs. I do have jocks on my list as well. N2N makes underwear for every guy to feel sexy in. I love the red jock best but anything they make is good with me!
2EROS Neo Brief – I have the jock and love it. The pouch is amazing and fits really well. Plus I love the bright colors adjacent the black fabric. It’s just a great pair not to mention the cool fly design.
These are just a few of the MANY pairs I want. When I sat down to do this post my brain is on over load and as soon as I post this I will remember about 10 other pairs I want. Plus this list is always changing. But this is an overview of what I would love to get this holiday season from someone special. Since I don’t have someone special I guess I’ll have to get them myself !
