NiceLaundry

At the beginning of the summer, I told you about my love of socks, and delved specifically into the Happy Socks brand. The problem for a lot of folks is nice socks can be expensive. A pair of Happy Socks will usually run you around $12. The good news is there a few less expensive alternatives that I’ve tried and have worked out well.

So here they are, three places for your to get your sock collection started on the cheap:

  1. Nice Laundry — I actually came across the folks on Facebook. If you’re anything like me you totally tune out all the ads Facebook tries to push in front of your face, but when I saw an ad for this brand I was intrigued. They offer 6-pair packs in several different styles for $39, which when it comes to high-quality socks is a stead. Probably my favorite part about this company is that they give you the option to send in old pairs to be recycled. As you might have figured out from my post on PACT, I have bit of green streak, so I thought this concept was awesome.
  2.  MeUndies — my boyfriend has been fond of the underwear from MeUndies, so at one point when he was getting a few new pair,s I figured I’d try out their socks as well. They offer a similar option to Nice Laundry—selling 6-packs for $40 in addition to single pairs for $10. If you sign up for subscription, you get $2 off each pair. If you’re looking to totally change out what you have, or start fresh, they also offer a 10-pair pack for $100.
  3. H&M — I’ve long been a fan or H&M as a great source for cheap, stylish looks. Their socks are no exception. They sell 2- and 5-pair packs in a variety of colors both online and in stores. Though the brand has a reputation for garments falling apart relatively easily, I haven’t had this problem with most of those socks I’ve gotten from them. If there’s an H&M store near year, I would recommend checking there first over the website. I’ve found that they tend to have wider selection in store than online.

What did I miss? I know all of you out there aren’t sock fans, but to those of you who are: where did you go to get your collection started? Tell us in the comments.

unbstaff

We have some of this on our site under about, but we know not everyone goes there so we figured we’d let you know who the guys are behind the blog. We want you guys to get to know the guys as well as us get to know you guys!

UNBTim – I’m the 43 year old creator and editor of UNB. I live in the Atlanta area and love all things undies. My favorites have been pouch briefs and think undies should be comfy all day not just when you put them on. Outside of undies I love tech, gadets, tv (yes bad reality) movies and more! Find me at @unbtim. Pictured in the Leopard Cocksox

UNBAtlBriefs -I think my fascination with briefs and the hotties that wear them began when I was 7 or 8 years old.  I remember going to my grandparents house and going through their old Spiegel and Sears catalogs.  And those old Jim Palmer Jockey ads.  Woof!!  Seeing his tight muscular body, the  bulge in those ever so skimpy bikinis; it was the start of a beautiful obsession for me.  Favorite brands include, 2(x)ist, Baskit, CIN-2, Cocksox & Calvin Klein.  I wear briefs (mostly low-rise), bikinis, and jocks.  witter @UNBAtlBriefs

Alex B. – I am 28 years old, i work in the non-profit sector in the Northwest. My favorite underwear are jockstraps and I wear them as much as I can. I am the twitter community manager and love to talk with other guys about undies.

UNB Gabe – I’m 35 yrs old, native of California. Currently live on the Gulf Coast of Florida. Work as a field engineer in offshore energy production and heavy lift transport. Favorite pairs of underwear are trunks and low-rise briefs. No specific brand loyalty here… I’m open to all.

John Dylan– I’m 33 straight and love to wear underwear! i like low rise briefs and jocks because the make me feel masculine and give me confidence when I have a fun pair on. I work in retail so having a comfortable supportive pair on makes a big difference.

UNB Bryce – I am Bryce. Born and raised in the Portland region. I love the outdoors, media, plaid, and of course underwear. Love all styles of underwear but especially love briefs and jockstraps. My favorite brand is 2xist.

Dash Distraction – Dash is a post-twink underwear fan working in technology in New York. Under his sometimes pedestrian office clothes he’s been known to sport briefs, jocks, bikinis, trunks, speedos, and sometimes a singlet. Dash likes sharing gear pics with other underwear fans on Twitter @DashDistraction   Pictured above in the picture below

UNB Jon – Hey underwear fans! My name is Jon and I am a current college student living in the northeast. When I’m not busy studying or working, which is rare, you will find me in the gym (a new obcession) or lounging on the couch watching sports. All in all, I am a down to earth person. Hit me up on Twitter! (@UNBJon)

UNB JD – Jeff is a mid-20s Yankee transplant living in the South. He describes his style as retro and wears trunks more than anything else. Professionally, he works in nonprofit marketing and communications.

The Amazing T – My name is T. I’m a professional trapeze artist and underwear enthusiast :). I come from a costume design background as well, so I’m very conscious about the design and construction of the undies. Due to my job, I also require a high range of motion in my underwear. I am a big fan of N2N, and the occasional Andrew Christian. I also have been really enjoying trying new and smaller company brands, where I get to talk to the designer directly about what I like and don’t like.

SpeedoSoldier –  I’m just leaving Active Duty in the Army after 6.5 years. Will be going into the Reserves. I’m engaged to be married to my fiancé Jonathan next Saturday. I love n2n, AC, Bruno banani, Olaf Benz, aussiebum, Marcuse, budgy smuggler, and many others. I look for style, cut, fit, and colors/prints. Love different patterns and colors. Always looking to try new brands.

After the success of their initial collaboration in 2012, masculine men’s underwear brand Bluebuck has partnered with England Rugby Champion and current Strictly Come Dancing contestant, Ben Cohen, on a range of special edition underwear. The exclusive collection is produced in support of Ben’s StandUp Foundation, an anti-bullying charity of which he is chairman.

The range features Bluebuck’s traditional trio of styles – brief, boxer and trunk – and subtly updates with trim in turquoise and white, to represent the StandUp colours.  It also features the high quality fit and feel the brand has come to be known for, all produced in the environmentally responsible manner that lies at the brand’s core.

Since launching in 2010 Bluebuck has proved it is an underwear brand with a conscience. Using the cleanest of energy sources to manufacture their products in Europe and choosing land rather than air to transport goods and raw materials, the brand is proud to avoid the far-flung supply chains favoured by others.

Ben’s love of outdoor sports and dedication to his StandUp Foundation makes for a perfect match with Bluebuck’s values of outdoor adventures, men being men and climate friendly production.

PicFrame 2It’s not often we cover apologies on UNB. Heck its not that often they are released in the world of underwear. We have given a few over the years but we’ve never seen them from a company that feels they may have not lived up to a customers expectations. I know quite a few companies that should issues them, they are in the world of undies and out.

I received this apology from UnderGear via email and a mailed letter. The snail mail is what impressed me the most. Here is what it said:

Dear Valued Customer:

We’re always proud to be the first to bring you the newest underwear fashions that come to the market, and bring them right to your door. But lately, our service hasn’t been up to our expectations.

In March of this year, we started making enhancements to our distribution and shipping procedures, and unfortunately, it’s taken longer than expected. Orders that should have been lightening fast took too long, communications were not as timely, and other mistakes were made.

Simply put: If we let you down, we are sorry

We don’t take your loyalty for granted — in face, we’re going to keep working to make your experience with us better, faster and more satisfying than ever. That is what you expect from us, and we promise to deliver.

Then it went on to give 20% off your next order. I like it when a company steps up and takes responsibility. It makes me look at them in a better light to me. I say good job Undergear. Will this sway you to shop there, I don’t know but it’s making me look at them again for my underwear shopping.

First off I would like to say hi, I’m Bryce and I have a bubble butt. As the proud owner of a bubble butt I have learned that not many underwear brands think about guys with butts.

Having a bubble butt can be an amazing thing. It makes your pants look good, and helps hold your pants up so you don’t have to have a belt. It can get you attention from guys. You also have cushion if you are clumsy like I am.

Underwear looks amazing on a bubble butt but after awhile it can look less than great. This is my one big complaint to underwear brands. For guys with bubble butts some underwear just stretches out. It becomes uncomfortable and starts to ride up.

My biggest recommendation for underwear brands is to make it with fabric that is more flexible. Briefs can be especially bad since there is not extra fabric on the legs. I have found some brands make the leg holes with strong enough elastic that it won’t stretch out.

Some great brands I have found so far include 2xist, Andrew Christian, Express and Clever.

With 2xist I haven’t ever found a style I don’t love with them. One of my favorite styles is the Sports Collection they released a couple years ago. The fabric is soft and has plenty of stretch for a bubble butt. They don’t stretch out or get baggy feeling after hours of wear. The 2xist Plaid line from 2 years ago was also a great style. It was less sporty feeling and just a nice cotton material. Would stretch perfectly and continue to look great on by the end of the day.

Express actually makes some great underwear. I wouldn’t recommend it for people with bigger bulges because they don’t make big pouches. The material is simple but does stretch well. I mainly have sport trunks and boxer briefs which make it easier to fit a butt. I did recently purchase some Express briefs and really like them. The elastic around the leg is perfect and stays tight after a day of movement.

I have one pair of Clever. While the pair doesn’t have the stretch others do I still love them. I think one of the main reasons I love them is how they hug my butt. The pair fit perfectly and clings to the butt like you see in all the underwear ads.

What are some favorite brands of other guys with bubble butts? We want to hear from you guys which brands fit the best for a bubble butt!

pulse-mesh-country-jockstraps

Pulse has another hit on their hands. First was the Stretch Mesh jockstraps, then the Sheer Wrestling Singlets (which we can never keep in stock) and now a combination of those two – the Stretch Mesh Country Jockstraps.

Made with Pulse’s remarkable four way stretch mesh fabric and sublimation printed with some of our favorite country’s flags, these jockstraps are unbelievably sexy, totally erotic and completely stylish. Upon first glance, you’ll probably wonder how that skimpy little pouch is going to hold your junk but not to worry, it not only molds to fit what you’ve got but when you get excited from wearing this hot jockstraps the fabric s-t-r-e-t-c-h-e-s to accommodate you rock hard (need proof? just check out the photos of our model Jack on our website for a demonstration!) Even hotter is that the mesh is fully see-through – as is all the Pulse gear we carry.

Of course it wasn’t enough for Pulse to just print the mesh fabric, they also styled the waistband: It’s a heavy-duty one inch wide white comfort elastic edged in blue with the country printed front and center (except Germany) and includes three quarter inch sturdy comfort elastic leg straps in matching colors.

Don a country’s jockstrap but be sure to stand at attention to show your true patriotism – everyone will be looking.

One word of warning: Pulse gear is very popular, always sells out and usually takes up to 6 months to restock so get them while you can
RESTOCKS: PULSE MESH WRESTLING SINGLETS

Along with our shipment of the new Pulse jockstraps, we also received a handful of the Pulse Mesh Wrestling Singlets, but only Canada and USA. There’s not a lot, but if you act quickly you may be able to snag one.

Leading gay film producer and distributor Guest House Films today announced the start of production on its seventh feature film – a gay murder mystery with the working title of Out to Kill.  The film will be written and directed by Rob Williams, and produced by Williams and Rodney Johnson.

Out To Kill is an intricate and witty “whodunit” murder mystery centered around a group of gay men living in a Florida loft complex. When one of their own is found dead in the building’s central courtyard, his neighbors enlist the help of Jim Noble, the resident private eye, to track down the killer. With its surprise ending and tropical location, the film offers a sexy, gay twist to the traditional murder mystery.

Principal photography has begun in Tampa, Florida — a departure from the company’s previous films, which were all shot around Southern California in locations that included Los Angeles, Big Bear and Palm Springs.

“The people of Tampa and St. Petersburg have always been extremely supportive of our films, and have often offered to help if we ever decided to shoot a film in the area,” said Williams. “So I returned to Florida earlier this year, found some great locations, and then wrote the script with Tampa in mind.”

“Rob and I both share insatiable appetites for anything within the mystery genre, so it’s unbelievably exciting to make one of our very own,” said Johnson. “The script is great, and I can’t wait to see what Rob does as a director with Out To Kill.”

Out To Kill will be the seventh gay-themed feature film from production company Guest House Films, writer/director Rob Williams and producer Rodney Johnson.  The company’s previous films have included hits like The Men Next Door, Make The Yuletide Gay, and Role/Play.  The film also will expand the company’s distribution catalogue, following the release of Role/Play and The Men Next Door, the short film compilations Black Briefs and Blue Briefs, and the Australian documentary The Doctor’s Wife.
The three actors, wearing Croota and Andrew Christian, are Lee Williams, Christopher John Cutillo, and Nicolas Burgos (from L to R).

Some information on Croota’s “Tennis Fever” range of underwear, featured in this still.

“Inspired by the Croota in-house design team’s love for tennis, the lo-rise hipster trunk comes in two versatile color variations, Sky Blue and Blue Indigo, and also features three different embroidery colors on the lower back. The numbers “00” are in a bold-faced white font on the top right of the rear to symbolize the starting score of a tennis match. It’s the perfect brief for guys on or off the court.

“Tennis Fever” is made of 95% cotton and 5% spandex, and retails for $18.90 USD.  For more information about Croota Underwear or to purchase a pair of “Tennis Fever” lo-rise trunks, please visit www.croota.com.”
