State of Men’s Underwear Market – Part 2

Earlier this week, I posted about supporting your favorite small brands and stores. I asked around the industry this week to see how everyone is doing. Most brands are extremely down in sales. Brands that have 20-30 orders a day have gone days without a sale. This isn’t isolated to one brand; many brands are down 75% or more. 

Go Softwear sent out this email this week: 

Dear Friends-

  • Here at GO SOFTWEAR/AMERICAN JOCK Clothing, we have been thinking about our customers, employees and others in the community. We wanted to take this opportunity to inform you of how the following days and weeks will transpire as we work through this critical moment. The following are some of the steps we are taking to protect our business, employees and deliver the best service to all our customers. Our offices will be open for business until Thursday March 19, 2020 and will be closed (in accordance with local agency guidelines) from March 20, 2020 through April 1, 2020 until further notice. 
  • Our website will be fully functioning, up and running making sure the products you love are available, ready to ship at the fastest way possible
  • We are following all the proper guidelines and best practices from our local agencies as well as those from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and World Health Organization (WHO)

As we weather through this current and daily changing crises, we are confident that we will prevail through this difficult period and want to thank all our customers for their continued support.

They are one of the first brands that I have heard that has to shut down. This means that there will be no or limited orders shipping and no new production. Go Softwear makes their undies/gear in house in LA. I’m sure they will not be the only brand that will be forced to shut down in the days or weeks to come. 

So how can you help? 

  1. Buy if you can – I know not everyone can shop, especially if you are out of a job yourself. But, if you are working from home and your income is not affected, pick up a few pairs from your favorite brands or stores. 
  2. Buy at full price – I know we all love a deal, but in times like this, buying full price will give more money to the brand/store. I”m not saying buy everything full price but throw in a pair or two so they can get a higher profit margin. 
  3. Encourage friends to buy – If you can’t buy and you have friends who love undies/gear, encourage them to buy right now. 
  4. Share Brands Social Posts – Whether you can buy or not, share brands’ social posts on Facebook, Twitter, IG, and anywhere else, you can share them. 

I will not be surprised if we see a few brands and stores go out of business after this crisis. Most brands are very small businesses that don’t have vast financial reserves. If you love a brand, it’s never been more critical to support them.

A FEW WORDS FROM JOCKSTRAP CENTRAL

As is everyone, we’re trying to adapt to this whole social isolation thing while scrambling to keep our business afloat. We’ve seen a drastic down-turn in sales and we get it. Nothing is normal. The sale is both self-serving and hopefully also a bit of a break for our loyal customers who want some new gear to take their minds off everything.

Most importantly, our hearts go out to all those affected and those stuck at home and those who are unable to work and we’re proud of everyone doing their part to flatten the curve.

To be honest, the whole self-isolation isn’t an issue for us. We’re a small business with only two employees; myself (John) and my husband (Adrian). Due to the current situation, other than handing off parcels to the various shippers we use, we have very little contact with the outside world but realize this isn’t so easy for most.   • Tell our readers about you: I am a 25 year old Irish guy living East in the Netherlands (almost 4 years now). I work as a Merchandiser for a US company based in the Netherlands. I am 100% gay. I feel like people wouldn’t necessarily think I am a guy whos into undies but my closest friends who say I am a very sexual so they may or may not think I am into undies.
  • When did you first discover underwear? I first noticed underwear I guess when I was in high school. When you do sports in school, of course guys change and see you the wide variety of underwear on display. I remember distinctly my dad always wore briefs so I started wearing briefs growing up and right through to adulthood. Personal experience made me discover underwear but also ads in stores and on TV. I myself loved the physical display of masculinity so.
  • What was the first pair of good underwear you bought? What made you buy that pair? My first underwear purchase was a Sloggi Tanga brief. Only had a back and a front pouch with an almost thin waistband. I got it because I thought “This is super sexy”.
  • How did this first pair influence your journey into the world of men’s underwear?The first underwear purchase definitely projected me into the world of undies. Throughout school and college, I was a total boxer brief guy but never ventured out to explore more options. When I moved (at age 21), I got my first jockstrap in a shop in Amsterdam and my love of the world of underwear was opened up. Keeping my underwear fetish to myself, I changed from boxer briefs to briefs only and then in the last year, changed back to boxer briefs.
  • What are your current favorite styles? What style do you wear most? My favorite style has got to be a jockstrap. I think its a beautiful creation for a man to have a pouch to cover his “meat” but the openness of a bare ass on display. To this day, I have over 20 jockstraps, ranging from sport jocks (like Bike) to more fashion ones (Diesel and Calvin Klein pride collection).
  • What are some of your favorite pairs in your underwear drawer?

My ex was a major fan of thongs so we both took enjoyable in underwear shopping.
  • Has wearing great underwear boosted your confidence? I have been to many underwear dance parties in Berlin, Barcelona, Amsterdam, Brussels, etc and I have never felt more confident, sexier and manly. I feel with a great pair of undies on display, you feel amazing. You are comfortable in your own skin and you are proud to display yourself to the world in whatever style you choose. Monday to Friday, I am a boxer brief business guy…. at the gym; I am a sports jock guy… and in my private life; I am a proud wearing jockstrap guy.

We’re launching with some crazy hot, overtly sexy and VERY versatile neoprene rubber harnesses plus some stunning streamlined jockstraps we think you’re going to love. Just be warned, the images below are not safe for work!

GX3 5-WAY NEOPRENE RUBBER HARNESS

Full disclosure: GX3 calls this the 3-Way Harness but after getting our hands on it, we think they’re selling it short. We found at least five different ways to wear it and a few of them are extremely fun (i.e. dirty!) so we renamed it the 5-Way Harness.

It truly is the most versatile harness we’ve come across, made with a variety of soft and slick looking two-toned neoprene rubber straps with multiple sizing snaps on each end. They’re all joined up with metal rings with some configurations having the down strap(s) secured to your dick and balls via a ring. As a bonus, in a few configurations, you can use one of the smaller straps hooked up in a loop with a metal ring to form a matching muscle armband.

With every strap having a series of snaps on each end, the harness is fully adjustable to ensure the perfect fit in every direction. Another bonus: You can replace the detachable cockring with your own if you have a favorite.

GX3 AIR LINE JOCKSTRAPS

These jocks are the perfect marriage of sport and fashion. With a sleek and future-forward design and streamlined pouch.
