staff-jock-picks

It’s time for another edition of out staff picks.  This time we are covering jocks.  Here’s what some of our staff have to say about their favorites.
modus-vivendi-zeus-pure-raw-cotton-jock-strap-underwear-natural-14112~7461637

Shane:  My favorite jockstrap I own is the Modus Vivendi natural jockstrap with faux leather trim and rope straps. The straps are adjustable to change the size and the faux leather looks and feels real. The natural coloring highlights the design while the unfinished seam down the front of the pouch really is eye catching. Overall, it feels great on and looks fantastic.

UN8-13-Full

T. says:  My favorite jock of all time is N2N‘s Classic Cotton Jock.  It is not too flashy, or full of features, but by golly it is the most comfortable jock I have ever worn. I love nothing more than to lounge around the house in this pouch. It is so comfortable, while still being very sexy, with its nicely shaped pouch and classic waistband straps.

Timoteo-Club-House-Soccer-Jock-brief

Jeff says:  My personal fav is Timoteo‘s Club House Lace Up Soccer Jock.
Why I love it: Though this pair has a unconventional style, it’s executed in a classic, retro style slim. The slim, tight fit is also super sexy.

UNBTim says:  My pick is the Cocksox Jock.  This jock is simply amazing. You take the great pouch Cocksox makes and put it on a jock! It’s super comfy and fits amazing. This jock is perfect for wearing under jeans/cargo shots (which I do often) to wearing under a suit! Granted jocks are made for sports and this jock could easily be used for any sporting activity. Just amazing prob the best jock I have ever worn!

UNBAtlBriefs says:  My favorite jock is the Obviously Chromatic Low Rise Jock.  This jock is amazing!  From the texture of the fabric down to the form fitting pouch, I love everything about this jock.  It lifts and supports while making sure the good are on display.   Almost like wearing nothing at all!

underwear-halloween-costumes

We are in full Halloween season! Many of our readers are finding great ways to incorporate underwear into their costumes. They could be undies only, for those who dare to bare it all, to ones that only incorporate some underwear. We are going to give you some suggestions that you may want to consider:

risky+business+1983+10

Risky Business
You may recall Tom Cruise singing “Old Time Rock’n’Roll” in his undies in Risky Business. Even if you haven’t seen the movie, its one of those iconic scenes that everyone has seen in clips or pics. This is an easy costume to make:

  • What do you need:
  • White Dress Shirt
  • Black Ray Ban Sungalsses
  • Tighty Whities
  • WHite Socks

Difficulty – Easy costume to make. Should has most in your closet.

300 Sparta Warrior
We all recall the warriors made of abs and pecs in their red cloaks. How just 300 warriors defend Sparta from an army of invaders. This year the sequel released this year so what better time to resurrect this costume.

What you need:

  • Red cloak
  • Brown/Black Briefs (leather or leather look is the best)
  • Sandals
  • Shield

Difficulty – May not be easy to do on the spur of the moment. To find the right look you may have to go to a few costume stores and online stores for undies.

tarzan

Tarzan
You can be king of the jungle pretty easy. This also is a costume for the guy who’s not afraid to show off a lot more skin! Not all of us want to show off but we have many readers who do something fun every year.

What you need:

  • Lion cloth

Difficulty – pretty simple to do, You really just need a lion cloth. Which you can get online or make your own if you’re super daring. A few companies have sold these, the most recent was Tulio, but many other brands do them! Plus I have seen some at costume shops
581278-image_2_quailman_largeQuail Man
90s kids will fondly remember Doug Funny’s alter ego: “Quail Man” Doug was a TV show that aired on Nickalodean in the

What you need:

  • Khaki shorts,
  • White Briefs

  • a green long sleeve shirt
  • red felt (for the chest emblem), a sewing needle and thread (to sew the chest emblem on),

Dificulty – This is pretty easy to make. There are some craft skilled needed but it’s a simple costume. You could sub the felt for a marker. All these items are pretty easily found in your closet.

These are only a few, we’d love to hear your suggestions

tumblr_mm6jr2RRuR1s0tvkdo1_1280When you think of underwear advertising today, the sky is the limit! You see everything and very little can be left to the imagination. This wasn’t always the case, in the 1970’s and 80’s they wouldn’t show men wearing undies in TV commercials. If you are under 30, you may think this is totally crazy.

In the 1970’s most of the men’s underwear advertising was happening in magazines. The one company that really stood out during this time period was Jockey. I hear many of you saying, “Jockey? are you serious?” Yes I am. Jockey really was the front runner in men’s underwear advertising. They broke a lot of ground that still stands today!

227cas11312cas10

This was most evident in the “Take Their Uniforms away and Who are they?” Campaigns. From what I can find they ran it in 1976 and 1977. It was 8 different sports starts just in their undies holding their sports equipment. I was going to say balls but thought the pun was just too bad! I always wondered how they got sports stars to strip down for the camera.

The best known is one we have talked about before, Jim Palmer. He was a star of the Baltimore Oriels at the time. He started in the late 70’s and continued till the Mid 80’s. Mr. Palmer wore mainly bikinis in the ads. This was pre-boxer brief time. He did prob about 20 different ads over that time period.

Jockey has continued to use sports figures in their ads. Most recently was Tim Bebow, former NFL Quaterback. Their ads currently are not as ground breaking as these ads during the 70s.

Gregg-homme-cowboy

Gregg Homme is back with another super sexy collection. Last time was about fetish with the bondage line and this time they are back with really fun line called Cowboy! Gregg Homme isn’t afraid to have a lot of fun with their new lines. They always have one that is just fun! The Cowboy line is the fun line of this one.

“From folk heroes like Wild Bill Hicock and The Sundance Kid to iconic portrayals made famous by the likes of John Wayne and the Marlboro Man, the cowboy image has been a symbol of American virility for as long as anyone can remember. Gregg Homme’s COWBOY collection, made of a rugged-looking but soft faux-suede material, will rope you in with its emphasis on “sexy”, making role-playing really exciting!”

As you can tell the Cowboy line is inspired by the American Cowboy. It comes in a Chap, Muscle Shirt, T-Shirt, Boxer Briefs and Thong. Made out of a super soft faux Suede material in either Steel or Sand. The material is pretty awesome, when I got to see it in Vegas and feel it. It will feel amazing. The collection can be worn together or separate

About the line:

  • Fabric – 92%POLYESTER, 8% SILKY SPANDEX
  • Colors – Steel or Sand
  • Made from a soft, faux-suede material
  • Sizes – Small – Xtra Large

This line is available at the Gregg Homme Site and retailers across the web.

We teamed up a few months ago with Dead Good Undies to bring you what’s hot in the UK. It’s been a lot of fun to work with them and expose you guys to some new brands. We now are going to do that for the US. Men’s Underwear Store is teaming up with us to give us a monthly report of some great undies right here. This is the first installment and we look forward to working with them!

5184-1

Clever Belice Latin Brief: These are my personal favorites. Clever’s designs are the epitome of Latin flavor. The cotton on these briefs is super soft and stretchy, but still supportive. I like briefs that sit higher on my hips, and these do just that. Two color options here, both in figure-flattering stripes: a bolder teal or the easy grey-blue.

C-in2-dip-dye

C-IN2 Dip-dye: We’re loving the colors of this collection. As always, C-IN2 uses the same sexy-but-sporty styles but brings in high-style with the color gradients. Dip-dye styles in clothing (whatever style in whichever market) can either go totally right or completely awry, but C-IN2 hits the mark on this one. We actually have these as our window display in our storefront – both the underwear and the shirts in the purple-green shades.

obvioiusly

Obviously NAKED collection: The fundamental difference between Obviously’s basics and the Obviously Naked collection is the pouch – whereas the basics have a cupped pouch, the Naked collection has a contour pouch that sits slightly longer and gives incredible support. We were one of the first and are one of the only ones to carry the Naked collection.

armani-brief

Emporio Armani Stretch Cotton Basics: These are one of our top-five sellers from Emporio Armani. EA is known for its high-quality garments, and these are a prime example. They’re also great for guys who want to get some color in their lives while sticking to neutrals or calm colors as their staples.

diesel-underwear

Diesel Platinum Microfiber Divine Trunk: Diesel is always a crowd favorite, and these are no different. We used these (in red) on a model as the featured image for our fall collection. They’re cool, stretchy microfiber trunks with a modern graphic waistband – rich basics turned up a notch, essentially.

n2n-performance-brief

N2N Bodywear Performance X Brief: The mesh micropoly fabric on these gives them a sporty-meets-modern look and texture. N2N’s Performance X collection gives you an extra shapely boost in the front (with the cupped pouch) and in the back. Again, these are updated sporty basics, but the black and cerulean-striped waistband with the brand’s logo gives these a pop of color (that’s almost a little retro!)

Find these great styles at Men’s Underwear Store!

thelear line-1

Modus Vivendi announces it’s most adventurous line yet. The new line, Thelear (a Greek word meaning something enticing that is offered to someone who hesitates) presents radical fashion inspired by gothic and underground imagery. All the items are black and made of the highest quality materials. In addition to some restocked items, such as latex and leather briefs, boxers, jockstraps and shorts, you will find new T-shirts and hoodies, as well as some exciting additions, like cock rings, aprons and other imaginative accessories. This new line celebrates the underground, leather and latex culture and infuses symbols rarely used by other designers into popular male fashion.

2xist-prints2(X)ist is back with a refresh of the Print collection. The print we are profiling is the Splash print. The reason is I think it’s great that 2(X)ist takes risks on the prints. They could do stripes, lines and such, but they always have something fun and different. In the previous refresh they used a bandana print which I really loved!

2(X)ist has a lot planned this year and in the coming months. This is only a small portion of what is to come!

ES - LA store opening

An ES Collection men’s fashion boutique will be the next to join the trendy shops along West Hollywood’s Santa Monica Boulevard. The store at 8915 Santa Monica Boulevard will be the first American retail outlet for the Barcelona based sportswear brand.  It will be a full lifestyle concept store featuring the complete line of men’s athletic gear, sports underwear, swimsuits, and loungewear from ES Collection and its sister brand, Addicted.

ES Collection has become a favorite among stylish, athletic men. Best known for its Wonderslip brief, the form-enhancing underwear that includes a removable pack-up system (giving its wearer the perfect jeans bulge), the brand produces a wide assortment of unique briefs, boxer trunks, jockstraps and less mainstream undergarments, such as spandex and cotton body suits. Many feature form-complementing technology.

The company prides itself on its commitment to quality and design, as well as its use of high-end fabric meant to stand the test of time. Garments will never lose shape in the wash and are supported by a money-back guarantee.

“The brand aims for consistency along all of its collections,” explains Nir Zilberman, the USA agent for ES Collection.  “Our retail boutiques will follow the same formula. Each city’s location will look exactly the same.”

The Los Angeles store will take over the location previously held by men’s retailer, LA Jock, who is moving two blocks away to 7978 Santa Monica Boulevard.

It will be the first of four planned retail shop openings in America for the company. ES Collection is also opening boutiques in Dallas, Palm Springs and Miami.  It is all part of the company’s strategy to expand its North American presence.
