I am reviewing the Lollipop Blue Boxer Brief by Inter View. When I first saw these, I was instantly attracted to them.  The bright royal blue color and the bright white accents were very eye catching. The waistband was also very cool. This is the first time I had ever tried any undies from Inter View and I LOVED them. This style is available in Black, Brown, Purple, and yellow. I am glad I got the blue, they are my favorite!

As soon as I took them out of the package I could tell that these would be great for everyday wear.  The fabric was light weight and you could tell the pouch was going to be roomy. I wore these to work the day after I had gotten them. I sit at a desk most of the day, but these preformed amazingly. I often have problems with undies bunching in the crotch area and ridding up. These stayed in place and I didn’t get the cramped feeling that some undies can give. These held up great for everyday wear. I haven’t worn these to the gym yet, but would like to see how they perform. The material is so light weight that I think the breathability would be outstanding, however I am not sure if they would hold during rigorous run or cross fit type workout.

I got these undies in a size medium, and they fit great. They are a little smaller than a normal medium as the size chart on their website states a medium fits a 30-32 inch waist. This worked great for me as I am a 31 inch waist and often find some mediums to be to big but smalls can run a little too tight. I would recommend checking out the size chart before you order. If you are on the edge between going up or down a size, I would recommend going down. I personally like my undies to fit a little tighter, but these do stretch and provide ample room.

These undies offer a 1 ¼ inch logo waistband in light blue and white. The material is an amazing combination of 55% Cotton, 37% Modal Rayon, and 8% spandex. They are machine washable and are designed right here in the USA!

It is hard for me to find anything that I don’t really like about this pair of undies. They provide great support, they look great, the material is fantastic and they make my butt look amazing!! If I had to find one thing that I would change… the white accents are amazing and look great out of the package, however, I noticed after washing them for the first time that some of the blue from the fabric bleed onto the white. It didn’t ruin the undies at all, but was kind of bummed that they didn’t seem to have that bright white look any more.  This could have just been me and my poor attempt at laundering them too, so I can’t discount it too much. I have also had an issue with the fabric pilling on some of the other undies that use Modal Rayon. We will have to see how that goes after a couple washes.

Overall, these are amazing and would recommend them to any of our readers. These are great for a HUGE undies fan like myself, but also for someone just getting into undies. Inter View is a newer brand and with these amazing undies, I can see them going places. I encourage everyone to check out the rest of what Inter View has to offer on their website: www.interviewshopping.com. This style is priced at $18.99 + shipping on their website, and this is a great deal for these awesome undies!

I get the chance to review another Unico Boxer!  It may sound like it’s not the typical for me but Unico makes one of the few boxers I liked. The previous ones were great, so this one I had high hopes as well. This one unlike the rest is made out of a 93% Cotton, 7% Spandex blend.  I loved the design of these too, colorful and fun. Unico is not one company afraid to use colors or patterns. So I put I through it’s paces.

I wore this pair to work on an average day. The day wasn’t too active. It was mainly office work and hanging out with friends after.  Being a day that wasn’t too active I didn’t think it would be much of a challenge for the pair. The one thing that I noticed was the legs opening stretched out a bit. For Unico that was strange, granted it wasn’t very bad but still annoyed me it happened. All the other pairs I have reviewed have really held up great. So for this one to have a few issues was odd to me.  It wasn’t bad but it was just noticeable to be annoying. The materials seemed to be the same as previous pairs, so I’m not sure why this pair did this didn’t hold up.

The sizing for Unico is based on Colombian sizing. Meaning it definitely runs small. I would suggest that you get a size up in whatever size you get. For example if you’re a medium I would suggest getting a Large. The pair I reviewed was an XL, which did fit my 36 waist very well. If you get much larger you may have issues. However, when I was a 40 waist I could still wear my XL. Not sure if that was I loved them so much or if they fit!

As I said I really liked the pattern. They are known for their amazing prints and patterns. Unico really isn’t afraid to step outside the box and use prints you don’t normally see in men’s underwear. The pouch is the second thing I love. Unico makes some of the best pouch underwear on the market. It’s one of the things they are known for, and if you look back on the blog then you will see we have consistently named it as one of the best for pouch design. As for what I didn’t like was the fabric. It lost its shape and made the legs looses their shape. This is the first time I have ever had a pair of Unico do this, so not sure if its just the pair or in general for the cotton/spandex blend.

Pros:

  • Great fun pattern
  • Amazing Unico pouch
  • Matching waistband

Cons:

  • Fabric didn’t fit well
  • Lost shape around lets

I’m super excited to review the Baskit America Sport Jock. When i first saw this line in samples at Magic, I knew i had to have a pair. The design and colors just popped to me. I have just reviewed the Simple brief and was impressed with the great fit and classic styling of the pair, so I knew had very high hopes for this pair. Baskit is really getting known for high quality underwear.

Over the last few years Baskit has gone through a transformation. They aren’t doing crazy prints and wild styles. Their models has gone from trendy to more of a from a classic high quality brand. Which in by no means they are boring. Just look at the America line, you can have form and fashion in one and Baskit is doing just that.

The first thing I noticed is that the jockbrief has been made a little different then other jockbriefs I have worn. When i first put it on it fit kind of odd. I’m not saying it fit strange because of quality, but design. The straps were a little lower then I was used too. Also the sides came around farther back. So,  wasn’t sure how well this would fare through out the day. But, after I got it on and adjusted the straps, it fit really well. It’s just getting used to a new design.

I wore the pair to work and errands. I wanted to do something a little different then previous reviews. This is a jockbrief so I wanted to see how it fared. The jockbrief held up great at work. It wasn’t too active. The straps didn’t move and kept in place. Then I had a lot of walking for my errands. After the great performance of the day I wanted to be sure it held up to the active. The pair didn’t miss a beat. It was  the perfect pair to wear on both lazy or active day.

The sizing is pretty standard. One thing that you can count on with Baskit is, if you read their size chart they are pretty spot on and match the sizing. Note that they don’t go above a 36-38 waist. The rest of the sizing is spot on just read the size chart, but this is something you should do for every brand you buy.

Pros:

  • Fun color combinations
  • Great for a active or lazy day
  • Made out of quality materials

Cons:

  • Had a strange fit to being

  • Daily Fit – 9
  • Sizing – 9

We’ve asked our readers to tell us about how they developed a love of underwear.  One of our twitter followers (@bithongguy) told us all about his first experiences wearing thong underwear.

It was about 10 years or so ago.  I had a girlfriend that kept trying to get me to wear her underwear, mostly thongs. I loved wearing them and I thought they looked great, but they weren’t really the most comfortable. We spent a year or two trying different brands and styles, so we could find something more comfortable for me. Unfortunately I didn’t find too many pairs that I could wear for long periods of times. We had planned a trip to the beach and we both were going to wear thongs, so it was time for me to get men’s underwear to wear in public.

Luckily, there was a new store that opened a few miles away that strictly sold men’s underwear. They had tons of brands that I had never heard of at the time; Rufskin, N2N, Joe Snyder and Andrew Christian. The guys at the store were really great, they let me try on tons of things and really gave me free reign in the store.  These new pairs of underwear looked great and fit great. Shortly after our trip to the beach in my new underwear, we broke up.

I went back a few more times to the same place I bought my first pairs of new underwear and they asked me if I wanted to go to an underwear party at a club near by. I had a ton of fun and loved showing off.  I also saw a bunch of other guys there that looked great and also loved showing off, so it slowly became a hobby. So, for me it really is just a fun to show off and enjoy others that like to show off in underwear.

baskit-billy-boy-briefBaskit first introduced their condom pocket brief in 2000.  With it’s return they have teamed up with German condom brand Billy Boy to create a unique and fun pair of underwear.  I am a big fan of Baskit and own several jocks and briefs from them.  They are all so comfortable and I can wear them for any activity.

I wore this pair on a relatively uneventful day for me.  Honestly, other than a quick trip to the grocery store I spent most of a much needed day off laying on the couch watching movies.  Which for me is a perfect way to spend a day off.  I like to be comfortable when I lounge.  Who doesn’t?

I really like the way these underwear feel.  This is a cotton brief that breathes really well.  The pouch is nice and roomy and the full seat covers everything just right.  The Baskit logo is prominently displayed on the waistband.  I received it in a size medium, which was dead on for my 31” waist.  Sizing is standard US sizing, so if you order true to size you will get a great fit.  The Billy Boy line is available in a brief, low-rise trunk, and boxer briefs in three vibrant colors;  red, green, and blue.

Now, for the signature condom pocket.  At first I was a little apprehensive about it.  Kept thinking to myself the I would look like one of those guys with a little circle imprint on his butt letting everyone know he is carrying a condom.  No worries there though.  The cotton brief does a great job of disguising what is in the pocket.  If it weren’t for the stitching on the pocket on the outside of the brief, anyone who saw you in them would never know it was there.  Until that pivotal moment in the night, and then voila!   You are all set.

This is a great brief for the guy that prefers a more traditional cotton brief with just a hint of flair.

Pros:

  • soft cotton feel
  • roomy pouch and full seat
  • fits true to size

Cons:

  • none

I found you on the Underwear Nation Model search, you really impressed me after the contest ended. You lost by a slim margin but told your Facebook page not to say or post bad things about the winner. It showed your character. I knew right then we had to work with you.

Tell us a little about you, where you are from, and some of your hobbies/interests?

I am from Chattanooga, TN and currently still live there. I am a pretty low-key kind of guy, mainly because I am constantly busy and don’t have much time to get out much. Aside from working to pay the bills and doing acting/modeling/singing stuff, I also help run my non-profit I co-founded called 1N3, which raises awareness about the consequences of drunk driving. My mother and I started it after my brother was killed by a drunk driver in his memory. Anyone interested in more details can visit our website at www.iam1n3.org.

As far as my hobbies and interests go, enjoy being creative, so I dabble in graphic arts, video editing, and photography for fun. Otherwise Derek Yates-2you’ll catch me on the couch watching Netflix.

How did you get into modeling and acting? Anything you have done that our readers can see?

I started out wanting to be a model. I honestly don’t even remember why I was trying to get into. What I remember is hearing about open calls and such for model searches and attending them. After getting chosen to be seen by agents, from there I knew I had something and never looked back. I have always sang, but when American Idol first started airing I could see myself up on the stage and doing the same thing. So from there, I auditioned for the show many times, and I was lucky enough to advance to Round 2 at one point, but didn’t advance further. Given that it is a reality show, I didn’t let that get me down about my talents. My big break in starting my career more fully was in January of 2012 when I signed with The Jana VanDyke Agency in Atlanta, GA where I have been making a name for myself among the Casting Directors there. I’ve learned that it takes time before they trust, and given that they all keep having me audition for tv shows and movies for them only means my time to shine is near.

I do work on short films and such to keep myself fresh, and of course I love acting. My YouTube Channel, www.youtube.com/derekyates, has my Acting Reel available to be seen for anyone who would like to see what all I’ve done so far, and I have some music videos for anyone interested in hearing me also.

What made you want to model underwear?

Modeling underwear was kind of a on a whim. I did a shoot with Ethan James in Murfreesboro, TN, and some of the shots were done in underwear. They turned out better than I expected as far as how I thought I’d look in them, and the online community seemed to like them also. I used them for modeling contests and it seemed the public liked what they saw overall. So, I decided to continue doing underwear shoots when possible. Plus, I work hard to stay in shape as best I can, so showing off my hard work and sacrifices is only natural.

I mentioned above the Underwear Nation model search, how was that for you? Did it get you more publicity?

Derek YatesThe Underwear Nation model search definitely got me a few more followers for sure. As my online following kept posting to vote for me, my Likes on Facebook definitely grew, and my Twitter and Instagram so growth also. Plus, it got me the gig with you guys at Underwear News Brief. And even though I was the runner-up for the UN model search, we are still in talks about having me out to shoot for one of their upcoming months. I’m not going to lie though, that contest wore me out. It was all I did and focused on for 4 weeks straight, day in and day out. So after it was over it was a huge release to not have to push so hard to get votes from everyone. It was worth it though.

If you could model for any underwear company in the market, who would it be?

Hmmm, that’s tough. I don’t really have just one brand that I like more than any others. I will have to say that after signing up for Underwear Nation and getting the monthly shipment to my house, I’ve discovered brands I’ve never heard of. I will say though that I have always wanted to be a Calvin Klein underwear model.

Who are your favorite underwear brands right now?

I like Calvin Klein, Baskit, CIN2, and there’s a Diesel pair I ran across recently I’m thinking about getting. But if it fits well and makes me look good, then I like them, regardless of the brand.

What are your plans for the future? any thing you are working on right now?

My current plans are to continue pushing for my acting/modeling/singing career. I recently got on with a Tennessee agent along with my Atlanta agent, so hopefully I’ll start seeing more work from that here soon. I’m looking into a Florida agent also possibly, as well as some agents out in LA. Providing I can get some interest out in LA, I’m hoping to be moving out there by the first of year.

I am working on hopefully producing some of my own short films soon, and I have a few ideas for some upcoming cover song releases.

undies-change2So I was sitting at my desk the other day thinking about how men’s underwear has changed so much since I have joined this site back in 2008. From cuts and styles, to colors and brands, the men’s underwear industry has been turned up-side-down in the last 5 years. So, I decided to start a conversation with the readers of UNB and see what matters to you when it comes to choosing just the right pair of undies.

For me, style is where it starts. I know what cuts I like (there aren’t many that I don’t) and what looks good on me. I think this is something that ranks at the top of the list of important things for most guys. There is nothing worse than getting a pair of undies that you don’t feel comfortable in. If they don’t provide enough coverage, or too much coverage, it can really make or break a guy’s take on a pair of undies.

From there, I look at color. I know most guys don’t really care about the color or what the underwear looks like, but this is a big one for me. I match a lot of my undies with my mood and personality. Having some fun and frisky pairs can help enhance your mode, whatever that might be. I can honestly say that my underwear drawer is a direct reflection of my personality. I think that is what a lot of guy’s strive for, but most don’t. Break out of the white, grey and black colors of the past and add a little color!

Fit and Fabric are also up there on my list. I have a wide range of fits and fabrics and it really does make a good pair of underwear. Some guys miss the mark with this however. For example. I have a friend that was just getting into undies. He wanted to get a jockstrap to wear to the gym. He ordered one, and when it come it was mesh and see through and not a jock that would be apocopate for the gym AT ALL. He bought a jock he thought was colorful and thought he would wear it. He still does but just not to the gym. Lesson being, know what you want and when you are going to wear it. The more versatile the better in my book.

The last things on my list is brand.  For me a brand name doesn’t say much for me. Of course I have my favorite brands, but they are my favorite not because they have spent tons of money on marketing, but because they meet my list of expectations. Surprisingly some of my favorite pairs of undies are from brands that aren’t mainstream. I think a lot of guys miss out on opportunities to try great undies because they get tied into the marketing.

So what is important to you when it comes to buying your undies? What things to do take into consideration before you checkout? If you aren’t sure, make a list… it doesn’t have to be a physical, write it on a piece of paper list, but think about what is important to you when it comes to find that perfect pair of undies, and stick to it. Everyone’s list will be a little different, but that is why everyone’s underwear drawer is different. We are all unique and I think underwear should be a direct reflection of that.

Feel free to leave your list in the comments below, we would love to hear from you!
