Jennifer Lopez - I luh Ya Papi (Music Video)We did the Swim Brief Challenge this year to bring awareness to men’s swimwear. Its something the general public needs to be made aware of! I have had conversations about this to both gay and straight readers. I always get asked, why is it that the media and such an objectify women but never men?

In perfect timing Jennifer Lopez puts out a video that does just that. At the beginning of the video they are running through concepts and they finally say “If Jennifer was a man you would have her in a mansion or yacht with scantily clad women running around” why can’t we do that with guys? And they did just that!

They show here with men in swim briefs and underwear. I think it’s awesome, because how many times do you see something shot in America with guys in swim briefs? I would say never unless it’s something like a Borat style humor. This is turning the tables and showing that its cool to have men show off!

We don’t normally cover stuff like this but its a step in the right direction for men’s swimwear to reach a bigger market. Will it be part of a bigger trend? I don’t know but it will get people talking!

Watch the video:

candyman-99040The one thing I LOVE about Candyman is they are always pushing the envelope to make undies fun! They have done this with the new Color Brief with the cut away sides. Granted sometimes the undies are way over the top, this is the same company that brings us some of the fun and sometimes wild costume undies. Past ones have been Cowboy, Lumberjack, Super Hero and Vampire!

The Color brief is a bikini with two cut out sin the side. I’ll give it to them to do a cut out that is pretty fun. Sometimes I have seen cutouts that really were in odd places. This one creates a great silhouette that shows off accents a guys body. Meaning the cutout isn’t too big and is right place.

One thing I”m sorta on the fence with is the purple color. I love it when companies use non-traditional colors in undies. I love the black and florescent green! But, the purple is something I will have to see in person. Because one thing I have learned is you have to see undies in person rather than pictures. So until then reserve judgement but hats off for using a new color! I think more companies need to step outside the color box and try new colors. Gone are the days where we have “masculine” colors, I think the color palette is open, I mean if we can rock pink undies (and I have and love them), then anything or any color is possible !

Check out the front and back pictures and find this at a retailer near you. The line just launched yesterday so you may have to wait a few weeks for it to show up in stores!

WoodUnderwear_PhotographerGerryVillaromanWood Underwear just let us know they showed in LA Fashion week. They are fast becoming a brand to watch! The reason I say this is they have a laid back California vibe. I have talked to the owner Terresa a few times over the last years and she takes it seriously but still has fun with the line.

The new line coming is the Camo line as you see. It is a print they created for their exclusive use. When the line is released, I’ll tell you more about it. But, men’s lines need to show more in fashion weeks across the world! Men’s underwear is becoming more and more of a fashion statement. Long gone are the days of black, white and grey. More guys are paying attention to their undies!

Want to find out more about the show, here is the press release they sent:

Wood Underwear®, LLC, joined Project ETHOS, presented by Scion, during LA Fashion Week, and hit the runway with its fall/winter custom camo line at the Avalon Hollywood. Wood introduced three custom camo prints for the Fall/Winter2014
season. The line will come out in a tencel/cotton/elastane blend fabric, which adds another ‘wood’ to Wood.

Project Ethos merges creative elements – fashion, music, art, theatre and dance – as a showcase to industry and consumer audiences. More than 1500 attendees included local and international industry players as well as such notable names as NBA sportscaster John Salley, Scheana Marie and Kristen Doute of Vanderpump Rules, True Blood’s Natasha Alam, Dan Feuerriegel from Spartacus, Anthony Pazos, star of LA Hair, and many more.

Wood Underwear featured its Wood Orange, Navy, Forest Green and Royal Purple in a variety of styles from its Hermosa Beach Collection (available now) as well as several styles and all 3 of its custom camo prints from its Fall/Winter 2014 line (available August 1).

GEOMETRIC1Swimwear season is about to go into high gear! 2EROS has gone into prints! They have released their Icon Swimwear in the first low rise design. The new Geometric print is one of the hottest.

I hear some of you our there saying “It’s ok but not what I love” Well, I suggest you get to a store and see this pair in person. It’s not super bright and won’t jump off the rack with a florescent color. When I met with Jason from 2EROS in Vegas, this pair really struck me. It’s very well done and looks amazing. I seriously was blown away! It is a perfect pair that will get you attention without saying “HEY LOOK AT ME” on the beach.

I”m really happy to see 2EROS growing and expanding into prints. This print is in black, red and tan that really works well together. I think Jason did some amazing prints that you don’t normally see in swimwear but after seeing them you go “Why didn’t we have this before!”. Well don’t worry that they have strayed far from their roots because they have resurrected  the logo on the back, which you may recall from previous pairs they have released. If you don’t they have a logo that accents your assets!

One change many out there may like is a roomier pouch. The previous Icon swimwear had a smaller pouch so if you’re a guy like me who needs the extra space, this one maybe worth checking out!

This isn’t the only pair, they recently released the Tribe as well. It’s time we all check out prints and enjoy them. Because they aren’t going anywhere anytime soon! Find this at the 2EROS website for $49.95 AUD.

cellblock13-knockout-jockstrapNew at Jockstrap Central: Cellblock 13’s Knockout Jockstraps are the perfect combination of sport jock, fetish jock and edgy fashion jock and have to go down as some of CB13’s most comfortable jocks to date. Not only do they feel awesome, they also have the looks – coming in all your favorite fetish forward colors: black and blue, black and red and of course, black and yellow.

With a naturally contoured soft cotton pouch, a hint of spandex for shape expansion and retention plus a liberating four-way stretch, these jocks were designed to fit. The jet black pouch includes a single one and a quarter inch wide contrasting color racing stripe running vertically through the center of the pouch which along with the matching piping not only looks good but perfectly highlights what you’re packing.

The 2 inch wide plushed waistband is totally masculine with the edgy CellBlock 13 logo and stylish with the multicolored horizontal racing stripes all woven right into the band. Finally, high quality one inch nylon and rubber elastic leg straps finish it all off.

In case you don’t know, Cellblock 13 is made by Timoteo so you just know that these great looking jocks are built to last. Be sure to head over to Jockstrap Central to see their dreamy boy-next-door model Spence in all the new jockstraps.”

ppu-1417-jockI know we have plenty of fans of skimpy undies. No matter if you’re gay or straight we have heard each side loves something smaller. The new PPU line has the 1417 Jockstrap. Which is a new take on the classic jock!

The first thing you notice is the pouch. It’s way smaller and has two straps attaching it to the waistband. Which makes it even smaller! This pair is not for the guy who’s not willing to show it all off! Second, is the waistband. It’s available in two colors the Gold/Black and Pink/Grey. Both make a bold statement.

The back is the same as regular jocks but that’s the only thing that is like the original inspiration pair. It makes me wonder were would you wear this pair? I would say you probably wouldn’t wear it to the gym. We would suggest a date night or even a fun night out.

These have just been released and will be in stores soon. What do you think of the new jock from PPU?

fetishwear-pollFetishwear has a broad definition. For our poll we define it with underwear such as Cellblock13, Gregg Homme (the wilder stuff) like the Cowboy collection, Mesh (like Clever trunk). It’s the stuff you may not wear to the doctor! It’s underwear that is fun and can express a part of you that you may hide in regular life.

So do you wear fetish wear underwear? Let us know!

CC #2_0415-800I”m still bummed I didn’t get to meet with C-IN2 in Vegas. I really enjoy seeing whats coming from them over the next year. But we received these pics form them. They were shot by Rick Day and feature the Culture Club collection. I told you guys that prints would be making a big splash on the men’s underwear market. These are bright and fun and have a great waistband.

I personally love this line. It’s not my typical every day wear, but I think we all need to step outside our box and have some fun. Here is what C-IN2 told us:

C-IN2 is now Pop Culture Art inspired with a new printed underwear collection called Culture Club. Why’s this different?  Each art print is placed on a specific location on the underwear.  We call this engineered printing which is different from printing fabric and letting the pattern fall wherever it may.  This means we have to print each underwear pattern piece by piece.  The fabric is made of 90% (super-soft) Tencel with 10% Spandex.  The waistband is microfiber with high gloss printed logos.  C-IN2 is so excited about this collection, we’re calling it a 2014 Event.

unb-futureOk that’s a scary title for a post! But it’s nothing to be worried about! This week, and its only been 4 days with the new design and it’s been overwhelmingly positive! I can’t believe the feedback I have heard from readers, brands and retailers. I haven’t heard a bad thing about the site! Which makes me very happy and know it was the right thing to do. I had many reservations about chaning the design but now, I’m very happy I did it. It took from Aug of last year till now! a few months of finding a theme, then finding one, discovering it didn’t work, then getting another and working out all the kinks.

So to give you a behind the scenes look. I did a walk through install of the new design on another blog and took me 2 hours to work out the problems. Saturday night I jumped in and decided to do it at 11:45 PM. And before midnight it was done and live! Every time I go to the site I’m still amazed.

The new site has given me a renewed energy. I have had several rounds of burn out over the years and now we have a great group of guys on the site. We have added 4 new ones in the last two months. All I think will be amazing. We have a great momentum of doing some great stuff!

This means we are working to make great content. We are going to update everyone on the Staff page, go under “about” and read the bios for the guys. We aren’t going to just report but also be commentary on the market in general and bring you other ideas and opinions. I’m super excited for it to happen

This means we want you guys to participate too. Hit us up on Twitter (me, the site or any of the guys), Facebook, and email. Give us feedback and let us know what you want to see or know about! I think we’ll have some great things happening!

We will be launching our Reader Survey soon too! So stay tuned

unbtmg-brieftaleAs a gay man, I have loved underwear as far back as I could remember. As a child of the 80’s, before the internet, the only sexual outlet I had was the J.C. Penny’s catalog, turning to the underwear section. I would stare at the pictures for hours and always looked forward to the new catalog coming out.

Growing up, I was stuck wearing the cheapest tightie whities my mother could find. I hated them lol. I drempt of the day I could wear something colorful, sexy and fun. To this day, Droopy tightie whities are a boner killer for me.

I remember the very first pair I purchased. The drug store in town had mens bikini briefs on sale. I had the money and for a several day I would go in and look at them. When I looked at them my heart raced, because to me, it was like buying a porn movie. (I was 8 or 9 at the time). Finally I worked up the nerve to purchase a pair. I selected a grey pair. I was flushed and my heart was pounding. Looking back at it, I really had no reason to be scared, but I was. I snuck them home and couldn’t wait to put them on.

I remember putting them on and was looking at myself in the mirror, admiring them on me, and how “brave” I was. Just then there was a knock on the bathroom door, I was being told we were going out for dinner. I immidiatly put my pants on and raced out for dinner. The entire evening all I could think of was the sexy grey bikini briefs I was wearing.

After that, I started my first “collection”. I would buy any underwear I could find, that were not tightie whities. Colored briefs, bikinis and boxers. I hid my collection in an old car my father had, thinking it would never be found. My “collection” was maybe 25 pair and I loved them.

One day I came home and found that my father had sold the old junker, and worse yet, found my “collection”. He was mad and I was scared. All my brothers and I got yelled at about the underwear he found and the box with my treasures disappeared.

As time went on, and I got my own place and started to buy my own underwear, there were no cheap tightie whities to be found.

Now, my collection numbers more than 200 pair of underwear. I have every type made now. Depending on my mood depends on what I wear. Some days boxers are the right choice. Sometimes briefs and even thongs and jocks.

My new “collection” takes up three drawers in my dresser. I also love swimwear and lycra/spandex gear. Tight running pants, leggings, compression shorts and wrestling singlet’s are a separate part of my “collection”.

Over the past 25 years, I have purchased at least 1000 pair of underwear. A lot for me, but also as gifts for boyfriends and friends. I have tried countless brands, styles and cuts and I’m always looking to try new brands and styles.

Most of my friends ask me for advice when it comes to buying underwear, and I am always willing to take them underwear shopping. It’s kind of scary that there are gay men out there who don’t put much thought in the MOST important piece of clothing a man wears.

The single most attractive thing about a man, in my opinion, is seeing a man in his underwear. It never gets old to me. When I am out and about and see a hot guy, my first thought is “what underwear is he wearing”. I always look for a hint of his choice for the day. A brief line along his butt, a boxer line on his leg, Or a hint of the waist band if he bends over.

I am glad you asked for people who follow and enjoy your website to say why they love your website, underwear and how it all started. Even if I am not part of your focus group, I just want to say thank you for having the best blog on the web.

I look forward to your future posts.

PageImage-483536-2198290-baskit_63While I love underwear, I still have much to learn and many new styles to try. If I was to be ranked based upon school year, I would probably be somewhere between a sophomore and junior. I wear premium underwear brands such as 2xist and C-IN2 and I stay away from mass produced ill fitting skivvies. On the scale of all straight guys, I fall in the upper quartile of quality of underwear worn, but to an underwear lover such as myself, this is not enough. I need to try new things and new styles for which I have yet to try. Thongs, jocks, and jock briefs have all never been worn by me and this is something I really want to change sooner rather than later.

Paul here! I’m a bit of a creature of habit when it comes to my pairs. Calvin Klien, Go Softwear and Ralph Lauren have held my business for many years, but I’ve admired many other brands from afar for a long time. I have a ton of briefs, some jock briefs and trunks but that isn’t even the tip of the iceberg! Being new the UNB family means that it’s time to push myself, and make the jump to something new and exciting; and I couldn’t think of a better way to do it! UNBJon has been great with welcoming me to the team, and his knowledge of what’s out there is extremely impressive.

So here’s the deal: UNBPaul and UNBJon have agreed to let each pick a random pair of underwear that the other is unfamiliar for them to try. There was no guidance in this decision and the other must buy the chosen pair and try it in good faith. It’s the ultimate experiment and you are all witnesses to it. Within the next week both guys will have a synopsis of their experiences to share with you all. Until then, pass the time by trying to guess the exact pair each guy will be receiving and feel free to continue the conversation on twitter @UNBBlog, @UNBPaul, @UNBJon, or on Facebook as well.

old-newHI guys, First off let me say this has been in the works for over 4 months. Most of those four months it was very hush hush and only a few knew we are doing this. It took me a month to pick a new theme followed by installing it on a test site and then customizing it so it will fit our needs.

I picked one theme but came to realize that it would not suit our needs so I had to go back to the drawing board and pick a new one. Hence this design. I wanted a magazine feel, I will be the first to admit I am old school when it came to blogging and wanted a blog that felt, like a blog. But, as time moves on we must change too! After looking at blogs out there, not just underwear blogs but other fashion blogs I realized we were WAY behind the times.

I was in Vegas and I showed most brands the new site. They loved it, and I hope you do too! There are some changes:

  • The menu is easier to find – the old site it was hard to find, now it’s front and center
  • Menu Organization – The menus are a work in progress but you can find everything you need up there to go directly to things. Review which maybe Reviews will be all the reviews we’ve done. We will be adding different types (briefs, jocks, thongs) below it. Also our social links are way easier to find!
  • New slider – the images at the top will show you whats new and can click directly on a post. It will always show the last 5 posts.
  • Ads are all on one side. That was one of the biggest complaints we had about the old site, it was confusing and crazy but no more!

We think this will be way easier to navigate and take us forward. Let us know what you think and we look forward to going into the 2014 with this great site! Thanks to all our loyal readers! Any questions or comments email us at info@underewarnewsbriefs.com

IS_Bodywarp_black_01_140121162443Shapewear is still something that is a growing market in the world of men’s underwear. We have a few brands doing it, most notably Spanx. Which I have reviewed many of those! The one thing about most shapewear on the men’s market is its super expensive. The Spanx shirts, which I think are great, are about $60 a shirt or more. Granted that’s a lot of money to spend.

Then enter aussieBum in the shapewear market. They created the Body Wrap. Which is a compression fit fabric that is more of a body suit rather than a shirt or underwear. It’s basically more like a singlet. The aB site says “The aussieBum ‘BODY WRAP’ is designed to make you look and feel great. Utilising the latest in compression fit fabric technologies to give you that slim rock-hard look without the hours at the gym.”

I think this is an important to cover. I think over the next few years we’ll see a lot more shapewear for men. To me this pair is cool because it looks easier to put on. I hear many of you going. HUH? If you have tried shapewear shirts sometimes you have to wrestle to get in them. I mean one time it took me over 10 minutes to put on a shirt. Why you may ask? Well the shirt gets rolled up on it self when you try to put it on. Its hard to put on if you’re just out of the shower. Sometimes you say to hell with it! This pair if you put on line a singlet you won’t have to wrestle with your clothes to put them on.

Also the design of these are pretty cool. From the picture it looks like they paid attention to creating zones where you have support, such as the pouch, around the check  and waist. It would be incredibly bad if it lost shape in any of these areas. It should be tight around you to give you the bodyshaping you are after.

The pair is available at aussieBum site for just $45. It is also available in black and white. This is an amazing price if you’re looking for something to give you a little extra shape!
