These guys were a blast to work with over the last 11 years. Bobby on the left we only worked with once but Chandler (middle) is one of my favorites. He brings the energy and humor to the shoots. He’s an amazing guy who will always have a place at UNB. Mikey on the right we worked with a few times and hope to work again soon.

We had some issues with Shopify not allowing us to upload this weeks sale prices. I have it all updated and while not solved on their end I have a work around that seems to work for now.

Our luck on shoots changed after 2013. We started to work with regular models and photographers. We preferred to do that to have smoother shoots. We don’t have any currently but we are looking for more guys to work with on projects. This is a shoot we did for Clever back in 2014. This is a behind the scenes taken by me featuring Damien.

Just yesterday, I was talking about UNB turning 11! How, in the last few years, I have gotten to know the industry. And that the most significant thing that I don’t like is going through old brands that are no longer around. We have a new brand to add to that list, and it’s an iconic brand, Prevail Sport. 

Prevail Sport is a brand that has been around since before the internet. I remember getting their catalog back in the day. They transitioned to the internet and have a big and loyal following. The other day they sent out an email that said:

After 30 years of giving you your favorite swimwear, underwear, and thongs, Prevail Sport is saying goodbye. We have loved everything on this journey, but it’s time to retire and put our feet up. 

We are no longer buying new fabrics or supplies, so when our products run out, they will simply be gone. We don’t know when our last day will be. All we know is when the last product is Sold, we are closing the doors for good.

It was shocked they were closing, as are many of you who are reading this for the first time. As mentioned in their statement, Prevail Sport has been doing this for 30 years. That means they started in 1989 (Like I said pre-internet). 

The strange thing is they are based in Atlanta, and I never met them. Which you think being in the hometown, we would find a time to meet up. Well, I wish them the best and kick your feet up and relax, you deserve it after 30 years of making awesome gear. 

Everything will be going, and once gone, the end of another era in underwear goes with it. If you are a fan of the brand, leave a comment on what they mean to you or your favorite pair. 

Today we show you one of the costumes Candyman used to have! This is the Race car driver. It’s a sheer singlet with only covering in the crotch. It’s a date if you bare pair. This is a week of looking back on 11 years of UNB.

October 6th is the anniversary of UNB. It’s hard to believe that I have been doing this for 11 years! Back in 2008, I started this journey and figured it would last a few months. You know, share my love of underwear and swim briefs and move on to something else.

It’s been such a fantastic ride over the last 11 years. There have been ups and downs along the way. Like in life, the ups far outweigh the downs. The ups have been getting to know the men’s underwear industry. I have made some fantastic friends who run brands, sell underwear, and read the blog. This is a close community that is very friendly and amazing.

The biggest downside is all the brands that have gone out of business. I go through the blog, sometimes looking for a Throwback Thursday, and remember all the incredible brands that have gone out of business. We have covered thousands of underwear brands.

This year we launched the UNB Store. This is the biggest thing to happen since I began the blog. Some of you may wonder what prompted this addition. I have been asked by brands for years when I was starting my store. As far back as 2010, people were asking about my ambitions. I never really wanted to open a store. Some things changed in my personal and professional life, and I decided to go for it. It was an “offer I couldn’t refuse.”

I do have plans for the stores and look forward to seeing it grow. It’s a rewarding and interesting experience now being on this side. I worked for Erogenos for a few years in the early 2010s and got some inside knowledge on how a store works. If you need undies, check us out!

Where are we going in the future? That’s an excellent question. I have a few things in the works, but nothing I can reveal right now, but if they pay off, they will be amazing. Things are always changing, and new ideas come to me all the time. Some things work, and others do not work.
