Candyman Fashions has a new collection out. At first I thought this maybe new swimwear. The last collection introduced Candyman Swimwear. This collection has a few new pairs. The CandyMan 99229 Brief is made from a super stretch microfiber fabric that feels light and airy against your skin as it forms a sleek, defining fit on your body. The two-tone wave pattern looks great against your skin, giving you a sunny vibe anytime you wear it.

I found Sluggers Swimwear, an Australian swimwear company on Instgram. They ran an ad and it piqued my interest. After looking up the brand I was really impressed. They have a great sense of style and believe many things we here at UNB also believe! I missed the call from owner Adam one day but we finally connected. I have to admit his laid back Aussie attitude came through and drives his philosophy in his company.

Adam, tell us why did you start Sluggers Swimwear? What made a bloke want to go into the swim brief business?

Since my late twenties I have been a fan of what Americans call ‘a speedo’. They’re just comfy and practical. Let’s face it – they’re what most Aussie guys wear to the beach or pool. The expensive name brands would lose their shape really fast in my pool, and most of the other brands didn’t carry the kind of prints or colours I wanted to wear. They seemed really conservative. Or they were just covered in logos. Or just looked terrible on me.

I decided to design my own, so I met with lots of very nice people and over the course of about 15 months and a few thousand dollars designed our pattern and prints and launched the online store.

I am still wearing a pair we released in August 2015. It’s survived two Summers of sitting in my backyard pool and spa and looks the same as it did the day I grabbed it off the shelf. I am pretty proud of that.

I am a regular guy. Average build. I am confident with clothes, but not too showy. The philosophy behind our designs is simple – if I wouldn’t wear it we won’t make it.

The crazy part is, people really responded. We’ve managed to make a profit from our first month in business and all the hard work has really paid off.

Sluggers Swimwear has 4 different styles. Why did you decide to do so many styles? What was your reasoning behind this?
Because we’re all shaped differently! And when you get down to three tiny bits of fabric and a string you suddenly get very specific about what you want. In our first season I realised that there were plenty of men into what I was doing, but not all of them fit the pattern. I decided we should make different cuts for different body types. Our customers are really responding to that, and it’s giving a lot of guys confidence because they know the cut is made for them.

On our phone conversation you mentioned that the Deetees do better in the States, why do you think it is more popular than your other styles?

No offence intended – but the beaches and pools in America that I have been to are a little more conservative than the beaches here in Australia. At least that’s my observation. The Classics and Racerbacks have a 5cm side, and that’s starting to get pretty thin for the States.

I think the DEETEES are a great cut for you guys because they aren’t making a big statement. They aren’t skimpy. There’s no bells and whistles. They are what they are. They have a 7cm side and nice coverage.

The DEETEES are made from super soft lycra. That means they feel incredible, but they also don’t hug you in too hard. Put simply – they leave a bit to the imagination. The sides are slightly wider. If you asked me what an entry level pair of Sluggers would be – I’d say the DEETEES.

I’m not sure of you know this, but DEETEES (or D.T.s) is a nickname Aussies and Brits have for swim briefs. It stands for Dick Togs.

I really LOVE the prints you do. How do you find such fun prints? I would dare to say this is the signature of your brand since you don’t have many solids. Would you agree?

I am a big fan of prints for swimwear. If you’re gonna let it all hang out you might as well have some fun. I love that we’ve become known for our prints. We put together the designs in house and then print everything locally. We buy a lot of art from places like Deviant Art and repurpose it for Sluggers. We’ve worked with some of our social media community as well. I love how you can take something that’s gender neutral or even feminine and play with the scale and colour to make it really masculine.

Our Pineapples, for example, are a watercolour design that sticks to different hues of blue. And the Bananas. They’re always a talking point!

Funny thing is though … I don’t really wear bright prints in daily life – just in shorts and Sluggers.

What has been your most popular print?

The most popular ones for us have been our Hokusurf print and the Pineapples. Although we added a print earlier this month that sold out in an hour, so I guess ADD ME is a big one as well. Blue is such an easy wear for guys of every skin tone, so they tend to buy those first.
You also mentioned that in Australia swim briefs are just what guys wear. You have come to the States a few times. What has been the reaction by American’s when you have worn them at beaches/pools/water parks?

I get looked at. The funniest part is when we’re at a resort and you walk up to the Pool bar and you’re almost naked compared to what other guys are wearing.

I do get a bit self conscious, but after a couple of Mai Tais I stop caring.

They really should serve those with breakfast.
We have the Swim Brief Challenge every year. In order to get more guys to wear swim briefs, regardless of age, body size, etc. What advice can you give guys to step out and try a swim brief?

Man up! haha. Seriously though – wear them for a few days and you stop caring. Body confidence for men really kicks in around the mid twenties and stays forever. That’s where our customer is. I don’t have a six pack. I don’t have big muscles. My nickname isn’t ‘Horse’. It’s not about that.

It’s about getting wet and drying off, throwing kids into the air as high as you can in the pool and having a laugh with your mates.

If you’re self conscious just wear them to the beach under your boardies and just wear them when you’re getting wet.

And if someone looks at you funny just smile at them.
In your trips to the States have you ever convinced guys to ditch the board shorts and put on the swim brief?

I don’t think so. If we get drinking with other families I might offer them a free pair. I tend to get lot of messages from Americans on my Instagram feed letting me know that they have started rocking Sluggers in their home town after seeing me in mine all Summer.
Lastly, do you have a favorite style or print in your current line up?
The Banana DEETEES have been my go-to over Summer. Those or the SKULLDUGGERS Classics. It depends on where I am. If I go to a water park with the kids I wear DEETEES. At the beach I am more likely to be wearing Classics.
Where can our readers buy your swim briefs? Or follow you online?

Thanks heaps for your interest in our little Aussie swimwear company. We really appreciate it.

Many of you may know CityLad78 on Twitter. He’s a big fan of suits and undies. He’s not afraid to show off in either! He’s been a few of our Brief Distractions before?! We thought he would be a great guy to talk about underwear and suits. Many of you out there wear them on a daily basis. You should be wearing something fun under.

We have many readers who see a suit as a uniform, rather than have fun with it, some dread it. You don’t have this view. You have fun with suits and underwear. How did you discover your love of suits and also underwear?

“I’ve been into suits since my first city job in London 13 years ago. Working in an office full of suited lads and noticing who looked good made me want to take pride in how I look when suited. Of course, we’ve all tried to check those underwear lines out underneath a suit and that was when I started to take a strong interest in underwear in general. ”

How do you pick underwear to go under your suits? Does the color and fabric of the suit affect your underwear choice for the day? Are there any rules you follow for underwear and suits?

“No set rules that I follow but I kind of plan for the day depending on my schedule. For example, if I know I’m going to be stuck in meeting after meeting in the office then I want to be comfortable so will choose a pair of fitted chinlon/spandex boxers for example. If I’m out and about on the road then you can’t beat a jockstrap as you walk between meeting to meeting to enjoy the strapped feeling and the air around your arse and looking at who is trying to spot those jock lines ;)”

In a picture we posted the tartan briefs matched your tie, which is something I have done, do you do this often?

“Not consciously if I’m short of time in the morning. But if I allow myself the time to get ready then coordination really enhances some of the undies and ties that I wear. And, of course, especially if I’m showing off my outfit for that day.”

I have seen you post pictures in a blue and grey suit. What have you worn under them in the past?

“The blue suit is my favourite, steel blue. Always get told I look my best on that one. I’ve worn standard boxers, boxer briefs and classic Jockeys which are a personal favourite. A jockstrap would be worn for fun, say, on a quiet kind of day. I really like the feel of the mixed spandex fabrics as it keeps me ‘alert’ and I have tons of undies like that!”

In your pictures on Twitter you have a variety of underwear styles, what is your favorite to wear (Brief, bikini, jock, trunk, thong, etc)? And why?

“Briefs! And Y-front briefs at that. Namely Jockey Y’s. There is just something so hot about that them. If I delved into too much then I probably wouldn’t find it hot. So I like the mystery of not quite knowing why they turn me on when I wear them under my suit.”

What is the wildest thing you have ever worn under a suit?

“Freeballing with c-ring ”

Guys who have to wear suits every day, what advice can you give them for picking amazing underwear to wear with it?

“Make it fun for yourself. Being suited should be fun, even when you’re stuck in the dullest of labour days. Wear something that’s going to remind you constantly how good it feels and how good you look underneath ( and to anyone who might get the lucky opportunity ).”

Are you a fan of skimpy and fun undies? Do you love the designs of PetitQ? If you answered yes to either of those questions. Rejoice, because there is a new line of PetitQ out now. This is the first collection for 2017. We hope that they put out a few more collections throughout this year.

This new collection is a bit skimpier than the others, in my opinion. It has a lot more thongs, bikinis and cut outs. I won’t go into specific pairs. Our guys are picking out some of their favorites. They will be talking about them in the next week or two. Stay tuned for those posts. We won’t cover every pair but we will be giving a big overview.

I really like the vibe PetitQ gives. They focus on making the sexiest underwear possible. Thier designs are pretty unique as well. One of my favorites they came out with were the chaps. A pair of boxer briefs with the crotch cut out and a pouch covering your goods. This was a lot of fun and cool to me.

Another thing I love about the brand. They mix the masculine and feminine pretty well. There aren’t many fabrics they won’t use. They have used lace, spandex and more. They continue to blur lines and make some really sexy and fun undies. The same goes for colors. They have used more non-traditional colors such as pastels, pinks, and others not considered “masculine” by the general public. However, it really works well with their brand.

Stay tuned for the new write ups. You can see the new collection at Candyman Fashion site. Go take a look.

We are a firm believer at UNB that guys should wear whatever they feel the best wearing. It can be a thong, boxer briefs, silk, mesh, cotton or spandex. This extends to guys of all sizes and shapes. No one should have to be limited to wearing something because styles aren’t made in your size. Currently, many brands don’t make underwear over the size 38-inch waist. Speaking as a guy who’s over this size, it can be frustrating to find underwear, only to find out it’s not for you.

BodyAware is taking this on! They are going to start making underwear in 3XL sizing. This is great news for bigger guys everywhere.

What is BodyAware doing?

They are believers in that all guys should wear great undies. They are going to expand a few of their lines to 3XL starting this month. Then they will be expanding the sizing over the next few months. It’s great to see another company take this step. Here is their words from their blog post announcing the extended sizing.

The idea of being/feeling sexy doesn’t just limit itself to the clothes you wear; it also applies your underwear! People who are bigger deserve to have sexy underwear that flatters their body, rather than only reserving the skin-tight, revealing underwear to those who have “socially-acceptable” body sizes. If someone wants to wear a sexy thong, then gosh darn it, they should be able to wear a thong, even if they’re plus-size!

Here at BodyAware, we’re aware of this issue in the world of fashion, so we’re doing what we can to make everyone feel included by offering size 3XL in many of our popular styles!

What is BodyAware Offering in Extended sizing:

This is a list of what is currently out or will be out soon. Over the next few months, there will be more styles and colors in extended sizing. Note some styles may be limited in colors.

If you are in the need of expanded sizing or want to support a company who is doing it. Go shop at BodyAware now!. Note, that I couldn’t find a bigger guy in BodyAware undies so I had to use a regular picture.

Male Power furnished the Athletic Sport Mini Short for review.

Rating: 8.6/10

  • Daily Fit: 8/10
  • Sizing: 9/10
  • Construction: 9/10
  • Styling: 9/10
  • Daily Performance: 8/10

Pros: Great pouch, stretchy fabric, and great pouch

Cons: mesh was annoying at one point.

UNB Tim recommendation: I enjoyed this pair. It’s great for a regular day doing work. It can be work working out or lounging around the house. The pouch was my favorite thing. It fits great and gave me ample support throughout the day.

Male Power has some interesting undies. They have always been known for some of the over the top and fun styles. However, in the last few years, they have been making some more “mainstream” underwear. Don’t worry they are still making the erotic pairs, but they are making some traditional styles with their own spin on it. Like the Athletic Mini Short

This pair has a traditional trunk cut. Which felt nice with a great pouch. The way Male Power put their spin on it was the fabric. It’s made out of a sports mesh fabric. Which wasn’t totally see through but it makes you feel a little bit sexy throughout the day.

I wore these to my part time job. Luckily, I am going back full time this next week for a few months. It’s a lot of manual lifting and running around. They felt great throughout the day. The only thing that got me was if your manhood doesn’t line up, the holes in the fabric can rub you the wrong way, Literally. This happens to me from time to time with mesh. Do you guys have the same issue?

Two of the big plusses were the fabric and pouch. The fabric was super stretchy and felt great throughout the day. Other than the issue above, which after I adjusted it didn’t bother me. I love undies that are tighter and keep everything in place. A second was the pouch. Many times I get trunks without a defined pouch. The lack of support will drive me crazy.

Sizing for me in this pair was spot on. It wasn’t too tight. Some of their pairs I have had in the past vary in the sizing. I think the new lines are more consistent than some of the older ones. Just make sure you double check the sizing chart. This line I don’t think you will have too many issues with sizing.

I enjoyed this pair a lot. While I’m not the biggest trunk guy. I think I will wear these on a regular basis. This is one of the pairs I love with a great pouch and fabric. It gives me the support I need on a daily basis.

We are fast approaching swimwear season. This year it seems in certain parts of the country that Swimwear Season never ended. It has been many 70 degree days all over the country. One of the newest pairs released is the Icon Swimwear in Blue and Rose Gold. It officially comes out today on the 2EROS website.

The official description is:

Navy and Rose Gold is the newest colour to be added to the Icon Series. The V10 Icon, a daring low-rise fit to celebrate the male form. It is designed to accentuate every asset and the use of timeless colours combined with foiled embellishments is a stance that will stand the test of time. Distinct, unforgettable and timeless without moving away from the 2EROS style.

I love the new color combination. The blue and rose gold look awesome. 2EROS has a way of making things just POP. The Icon line features the 2EROS logo on the back that will accentuate your assets. The two circles are strategically placed. Making this one of their most popular suits. It is also in black and white.

The Icon is also for the guy who doesn’t want to wear solid pink on the beach. Many of our readers will rock a pink swim brief. Wearing pink swimwear takes a man comfortable in his own skin. Even this bit of pink will catch attention people on the beach. We suggest you just smile back and rock the briefs.

This is the first of many pairs of swimwear that will be released from 2EROS. We look forward to more coming soon! It will also include underwear, activewear and more! So stay tuned and we will let you know when other pairs are released.  In the mean time shop the 2EROS site for some awesome underwear and swimwear.

We will not be doing coverage of Magic/Project this week. In years past, I would go and meet with the brands. Then cover them the weeks after. It is a great chance to get face time with brands. Talk to them about what they have planned and see how we can help them get the word out on their new lines. Last August we sent Undies Rock to cover the show for us. Unfortunately, this year I wasn’t able to attend due to costs and no one else was able to fill in.

But there is a way you can help us go to Magic. Many people I have talked to ask why we do a Patreon program for the blog. This is one of the reasons. Travel is expensive when going to Las Vegas. I am able to do it for around $1,000 – $1,200 and that’s on a budget. For each person that goes, it will be roughly that much.

We want to use the money you guys give us to expand our video content, travel to LA and Vegas to meet with brands, buy review pairs and more. We get some money for advertising but it doesn’t cover all we want to do and cover for you guys. I personally think that getting time in front of brands has been key to the success of UNB. It’s not that we cover the brands, we know the people behind them.

Everyone who writes at UNB is a massive underwear lover. From myself down to our newest guy. We have a big passion and do it on a small budget. We do a lot on a small budget! We only seem big and glamorous. lol We hope you will consider donating $1 to us a month. If we had half of our readers to donate $1 we could travel and do a lot more!

Visit the UNB Patreon page for more information to donate or contact us here for more information. I will be happy to answer any questions.
