ppu-1417-jockI know we have plenty of fans of skimpy undies. No matter if you’re gay or straight we have heard each side loves something smaller. The new PPU line has the 1417 Jockstrap. Which is a new take on the classic jock!

The first thing you notice is the pouch. It’s way smaller and has two straps attaching it to the waistband. Which makes it even smaller! This pair is not for the guy who’s not willing to show it all off! Second, is the waistband. It’s available in two colors the Gold/Black and Pink/Grey. Both make a bold statement.

The back is the same as regular jocks but that’s the only thing that is like the original inspiration pair. It makes me wonder were would you wear this pair? I would say you probably wouldn’t wear it to the gym. We would suggest a date night or even a fun night out.

These have just been released and will be in stores soon. What do you think of the new jock from PPU?

fetishwear-pollFetishwear has a broad definition. For our poll we define it with underwear such as Cellblock13, Gregg Homme (the wilder stuff) like the Cowboy collection, Mesh (like Clever trunk). It’s the stuff you may not wear to the doctor! It’s underwear that is fun and can express a part of you that you may hide in regular life.

So do you wear fetish wear underwear? Let us know!

CC #2_0415-800I”m still bummed I didn’t get to meet with C-IN2 in Vegas. I really enjoy seeing whats coming from them over the next year. But we received these pics form them. They were shot by Rick Day and feature the Culture Club collection. I told you guys that prints would be making a big splash on the men’s underwear market. These are bright and fun and have a great waistband.

I personally love this line. It’s not my typical every day wear, but I think we all need to step outside our box and have some fun. Here is what C-IN2 told us:

C-IN2 is now Pop Culture Art inspired with a new printed underwear collection called Culture Club. Why’s this different?  Each art print is placed on a specific location on the underwear.  We call this engineered printing which is different from printing fabric and letting the pattern fall wherever it may.  This means we have to print each underwear pattern piece by piece.  The fabric is made of 90% (super-soft) Tencel with 10% Spandex.  The waistband is microfiber with high gloss printed logos.  C-IN2 is so excited about this collection, we’re calling it a 2014 Event.

unb-futureOk that’s a scary title for a post! But it’s nothing to be worried about! This week, and its only been 4 days with the new design and it’s been overwhelmingly positive! I can’t believe the feedback I have heard from readers, brands and retailers. I haven’t heard a bad thing about the site! Which makes me very happy and know it was the right thing to do. I had many reservations about chaning the design but now, I’m very happy I did it. It took from Aug of last year till now! a few months of finding a theme, then finding one, discovering it didn’t work, then getting another and working out all the kinks.

So to give you a behind the scenes look. I did a walk through install of the new design on another blog and took me 2 hours to work out the problems. Saturday night I jumped in and decided to do it at 11:45 PM. And before midnight it was done and live! Every time I go to the site I’m still amazed.

The new site has given me a renewed energy. I have had several rounds of burn out over the years and now we have a great group of guys on the site. We have added 4 new ones in the last two months. All I think will be amazing. We have a great momentum of doing some great stuff!

This means we are working to make great content. We are going to update everyone on the Staff page, go under “about” and read the bios for the guys. We aren’t going to just report but also be commentary on the market in general and bring you other ideas and opinions. I’m super excited for it to happen

This means we want you guys to participate too. Hit us up on Twitter (me, the site or any of the guys), Facebook, and email. Give us feedback and let us know what you want to see or know about! I think we’ll have some great things happening!

We will be launching our Reader Survey soon too! So stay tuned

old-newHI guys, First off let me say this has been in the works for over 4 months. Most of those four months it was very hush hush and only a few knew we are doing this. It took me a month to pick a new theme followed by installing it on a test site and then customizing it so it will fit our needs.

I picked one theme but came to realize that it would not suit our needs so I had to go back to the drawing board and pick a new one. Hence this design. I wanted a magazine feel, I will be the first to admit I am old school when it came to blogging and wanted a blog that felt, like a blog. But, as time moves on we must change too! After looking at blogs out there, not just underwear blogs but other fashion blogs I realized we were WAY behind the times.

I was in Vegas and I showed most brands the new site. They loved it, and I hope you do too! There are some changes:

  • The menu is easier to find – the old site it was hard to find, now it’s front and center
  • Menu Organization – The menus are a work in progress but you can find everything you need up there to go directly to things. Review which maybe Reviews will be all the reviews we’ve done. We will be adding different types (briefs, jocks, thongs) below it. Also our social links are way easier to find!
  • New slider – the images at the top will show you whats new and can click directly on a post. It will always show the last 5 posts.
  • Ads are all on one side. That was one of the biggest complaints we had about the old site, it was confusing and crazy but no more!

We think this will be way easier to navigate and take us forward. Let us know what you think and we look forward to going into the 2014 with this great site! Thanks to all our loyal readers! Any questions or comments email us at info@underewarnewsbriefs.com

IS_Bodywarp_black_01_140121162443Shapewear is still something that is a growing market in the world of men’s underwear. We have a few brands doing it, most notably Spanx. Which I have reviewed many of those! The one thing about most shapewear on the men’s market is its super expensive. The Spanx shirts, which I think are great, are about $60 a shirt or more. Granted that’s a lot of money to spend.

Then enter aussieBum in the shapewear market. They created the Body Wrap. Which is a compression fit fabric that is more of a body suit rather than a shirt or underwear. It’s basically more like a singlet. The aB site says “The aussieBum ‘BODY WRAP’ is designed to make you look and feel great. Utilising the latest in compression fit fabric technologies to give you that slim rock-hard look without the hours at the gym.”

I think this is an important to cover. I think over the next few years we’ll see a lot more shapewear for men. To me this pair is cool because it looks easier to put on. I hear many of you going. HUH? If you have tried shapewear shirts sometimes you have to wrestle to get in them. I mean one time it took me over 10 minutes to put on a shirt. Why you may ask? Well the shirt gets rolled up on it self when you try to put it on. Its hard to put on if you’re just out of the shower. Sometimes you say to hell with it! This pair if you put on line a singlet you won’t have to wrestle with your clothes to put them on.

Also the design of these are pretty cool. From the picture it looks like they paid attention to creating zones where you have support, such as the pouch, around the check  and waist. It would be incredibly bad if it lost shape in any of these areas. It should be tight around you to give you the bodyshaping you are after.

The pair is available at aussieBum site for just $45. It is also available in black and white. This is an amazing price if you’re looking for something to give you a little extra shape!

FirefoxWe are giving you a sneak preview of the new site. YES, UNB is getting a makeover. It has been in the works for a few months. Not many knew about it. But For the last six months I have been pouring over themes, and finally decided on 2 and then narrowed down to one!

We have been doing massive amounts of backend work for the last few months. With the help of some plug-ins and some hard work we are ready to unveil the new site! This is a brief look! It’s going to be a magazine style, with a slider at the top and all the ads will move to the right hand side. It will make it easier to read!

We also have redone the menu (see above) and will be easier to find our site’s features. I”m super excited about this and should take UNB into the future. It’s clean, sleek and I think you guys will like. I showed many of the advertisers and brands in Vegas and they loved it!

This will happen this Sunday morning. I’m not expecting problems but barring problems the site will be down just for a bit early morning and back up after no more than an hour. So if you come to the site that morning and things go wonky. Then you will know whats going on!

Stay Tuned for NEW UNB!

croota-underwearCroota underwear (www.croota.com) has listened to its customers and has re-released two of its most popular underwear ranges as part of its 2014 rollout of products, which will soon also include tank tops. Known for its comfort, fit and style, the California-based underwear label is heating up men’s underwear drawers just in time for Spring with its ‘Pattern Breaker Hipster’ range available in two color options, along with its ‘Croota Through’ range.

Croota’s ‘Pattern Breaker Hipster’ was originally released in 2012, providing guys with sophisticated designs in both purple and black options. Its pattern was inspired by the stars of the Australian flag, as well as Croota’s unique star logo. The combination of waistband materials, including satin and polyurethane, was the first of its kind, and remains rare among underwear brands on the market today. A partial and breaking silver satin logo found along the elastic band are the hardest techniques for manufacturers to produce, but Croota is known for its quality and had no issue in re-releasing this range for its most die-hard customers.

The ‘Croota Through’ low-rise hipster range was first released in early 2011, but still features a sporty square-cut and body-hugging design. Made from high-quality cotton that feels great against skin, the mixed cotton and satin waistband complements the brand’s unique dedication for all-around comfort. The range, which was even featured in a photo shoot with Russian Regional Freeski Champion, Artem Chu Glebov, is available in its original navy color and orange waistband.

Both ‘Pattern Breaker Hipster’ and ‘Croota Through’ underwear ranges are made with 95% cotton and 5% spandex. Each range retails for $22.90, and both are available at www.croota.com.

unb-vegasOver the past few years at Magic we have had a “Meet and Greet” for brands, buyers and others attending Magic. Its a social gathering where everyone can get together and talk. You may think this sounds strange but at the show usually most brands don’t have time to talk to other brands. You have clients in all day and then on the last day you’re so worn out you pretty much hang in your both.

This year we had it in the Luxor at Centra. I will say I was a little worried  that it was a short walk and people wouldn’t come over from the Mandalay Bay. But it was a lot of fun and brands did come! The brands that attended were 2EROS, SupaWear, N2N Bodywear, Frank Dandy, Bwet Swimwear, Shrine Boxers, Timoteo, Underwear Nation, Garcon Model, Wood Underwear, BoyRio, PetitQ and I know I”m missing someone, and I apologize if I did!

It was great hearing the brands say they are glad we had something social. We used to do them just in February but we are going to do them every Magic. So if you’re a brand or buyer going to Magic let us know so we can include you!
