NOTE: This was supposed to post Sunday but we had some technical issues and are posting today.

We got to interview the guys over at Bum-Chums about the new Stealth line. They are one of the most creative underwear companies around! We hope you enjoy this and learn a little more about the Stealth Line!

Tell us a little about the Stealth Line?

Stealth is all about form and purpose.  We wanted to introduce a new fabric, Supplex®, to the market, so we decided that the best way to do this was to design an entirely new and dedicated collection that would allow the qualities of the Supplex® material to shine through; in many ways, you could say that Supplex® is the heart of Stealth.  We designed a slim-brief and trunk with bold and deceptively simple lines that naturally accentuate and compliment the male form, we avoided unnecessary embellishments which allows for a broad and unbroken expanse of fabric to follow the contours of the body.  Every feature line of the design serves a purpose and this is highlighted by the use of confident colour accents to amplify the nature of the lines and add visual drama; for example, both the slim-brief and trunk incorporate a central, cover-seamed centreline running down the middle of the rear aspect, this not only provides visual symmetry but also helps to enhance rear shaping, and in order to draw attention to it’s purpose, this structural element is cover-seamed in one of the five striking colours.  Both designs dispense with the broad waist elastic and instead utilise a narrow, bound and colour-coded waist band design, this approach ensures attention is focused on the overall design and avoids unnecessary distraction.  Finally, the slim-brief also boasts a ‘keyhole’ arrangement at the front which, unusually, is incorporated into an anatomically correct and naturally enhancing pouch assembly; this feature is also emphasised by contrast colour binding on the outer edge.  We feel that Stealth is a great example of form following function, which is a philosophy inherent in all good design.

What was the inspiration for the new Stealth line?

Because simplicity, form and function were our guiding principals, we looked to certain design movements that exemplified all or some of these traits, these included the Art Deco design philosophy of the 1920’s and 1930’s, the architecture of the Bauhaus period, particularly its use of functional, clean lines and Fritz Lang’s 1927 film Metropolis which drew visual inspiration from the Art Deco movement.

Bum-chums is a line that is known for the use of colour and fun in underwear, where did this philosophy come from?

We both have a rather tongue-in-cheek sense of humour and we felt that underwear should not only be comfortable and well made but also bright, fun and enjoyable.  Because all our products are designed, developed and manufactured in the UK and, of course, we are from the UK, we felt that we could inject some dry and ‘naughty’ British humour into what seemed to be, on occasion, a slightly stuffy market, hence the odd double-entendre and slightly ‘Carry On’ nature of our humour and general marketing approach; it’s an approach that has worked very well for us and we hope it’s also helped to brighten everyone’s day a little!

What is coming up for bum-chums next, what should we be looking out for?

We have a number of exciting new products in the pipeline, firstly we are planning to extend the Stealth range in the coming months with the addition of a series of Supplex® Sports Vests and a range of Sports-Briefs; furthermore we are also planning a re-design of our Classic range of hipsters and hip-briefs.  We have a number of other products waiting in the wings which we will be rolling out next year, we will release details of these closer to the launch dates.  In terms of non-product related releases, we are working on a new Stealth video which will take a slightly less serious approach to the range than the previous one and hopefully satisfy all our fans longing for a good old bum-chums’ tongue-in-cheek romp!

Supplex ®: the heart of Stealth

The Stealth collection also debuts a new fabric: Supplex®Supplex® is a technically advanced fabric developed by scientists for modern athletes; it has the traditional feel and appeal of cotton with the benefits of modern fibre technology.  Like cotton, Supplex® is fully breathable and soft to the touch, but unlike cotton, it will maintain its’ shape and return qualities – even after repeated wash and wear cycles.  Also, Supplex® is colour-fast, so colours won’t fade and, unlike cotton, it won’t pill (bobble).  The fabric is high wicking, helping to keep you dry, particularly during physical exertion; it’s also quick drying and is tough and durable

The Stealth collection, our most advanced design yet and is available with five vibrant colour accents:  Stealth Ice, Stealth Air, Stealth Ignite, Stealth Fire and Stealth Dawn.

Stealth – Form following Function.

Summer is here, and what better way to spend it than in next to nothing! I had the pleasure of taking the new Safari Dream brief by N2N Bodywear out for a spin during my week at the beach house for the Fourth of July,  during which I pent nearly all of my waking hours out in the sun (or at the bar). After my morning workout, I ran back to the house and showered myself with sunscreen before hopping into this banded hip brief. The body of the suit has a fun white and grey zebra print, with light blue banding around the waist and leg openings.

There is no drawstring on this particular pair of swim trunks, but the fit was spot on and hugged my body quite well. On left hip sits a small, rubber tag with the N2N logo on it, which is very understated. The suit is unlined and has a darted front pouch to cup and gently lift the ‘boys’ into place. Seeing as there is no lining, I was nervous to get too close to water, as we all know that white spandex is extremely transparent when water-logged. Like I said before, the 83% nylon, 17% spandex material hugged the contours of my body, and retained coverage as I got up, moved around and rotated in order to achieve the perfect tan! I have had  numerous suits that required constant re-adjustment, but these stayed in place quite well! The single-layer fabric body breathed well, so there was no discomfort as the temperature climbed. The suit has a nice, low rise all the way around, just covering the essentials, with more coverage on the rear, as the banding creates a fuller cut.

The real test came when I ventured down to the water. The reason behind my brave journey to the water (maybe about 30 yards, as our house is right on the water) was the fact that it was a private beach and I was the only one home. After taking the plunge, I walked back to my chaise in the sun with red cheeks, as I was blushing at the fact that the suit was very see-through  – so a word to the wise would be to keep dry and away from water unless around very close friends … The blue banding around the leg isn’t dark enough, so the zebra print shows through, and the dart in the front becomes more evident when the suit is wet. I noticed that the suit really didn’t dry very fast, which was just about the only negative thing I have to say about this suit aside from the cautionary words about the suit when wet.

Pros

  • fun print
  • great fit
  • low rise

Con’s

  • not quick to dry
  • transparent when wet

Today’s Brief Distraction is one featuring Jack Mackenroth. He recently finished a new photoshoot in South Beach with West Phillips wearing Pipe Underwear. Summer is in full swing and with holiday’s like Memorial Day and the Fourth of July here and gone, I was really looking for a pair of undies that I could wear out to all these great summer parties. What better way to celebrate America then by getting a pair of red, white and blue made in the USA Pistol Pete.

Pistol Pete has been a round the underwear world for a little while now, but they are one brand that I had never tried before. It is nice to see and support some of these great “Made in the USA” undies companies. When I found out I would be reviewing a few pairs of Pistol Pete I was very excited. Thought maybe these would be my summer “go to” undies.

I reviewed the Pistol Pete Pistol Brief (Red) in a size medium. When they arrived I was very excited to see the vibrant red, white and blue coloring. I immediately thought these were going to be my go to patriotic undies for the summer. The waistband is your typical 1” elastic with a red, white and blue stripe. The Pistol Pete logo is mirrored around the waistband but is smaller and does not take away from the look of the brief. The main fabric content is 97% cotton, which makes these briefs breathable on those hot summer night. The leg openings are also patriotic in red, white and blue stripped elastic. The pouch and fly are offset by a bright white as well.

The look of this brief is amazing while wearing them. They do sit a little lower on the hips, but that is the way I like to wear my undies so that did not bother me at all. These briefs also made my butt look great. The heaver elastic bands around the leg openings really helped lift and make my butt look perky. The one drawback that I really wasn’t happy with and was ultimately a deal breaker for me was the size of the pouch. I really wanted to like these briefs but the pouch was too small.  I consider myself to be a pretty average sized guy, and I felt very cramped in these. With the small pouch I could stand to wear these for a short period of time, but I don’t think I could wear them all day. I did do a little research on the Pistol Pete website and they do say “Our clothing is a contoured fit.  If you like a looser fit, we suggest you order one size larger.” So with that in mind for next time, a large might be in order.

I would recommend these undies and they are a great addition to my collection. These undies come in Red (reviewed), White and Navy Blue. I think I might have to order the white ones next to see how they compare!!

Today is Tuesday and that mean’s one thing. It’s Baskit $12 Tuesday. What is that you say? Well it’s when they put one pair of Baskit on sale for $12 for one day only! This weeks pair is the Energy Briefs. These briefs are known for their great pouch and moisture wicking fabric. But, these aren’t the only ones on sale, they have several pairs including the Pure Line! Go to the Baskit Website and go under Specials to see all pairs on sale.

The pair I get to review is the Me Undies Euro Brief. I know I hear a lot of you asking, who? But Me Undies is a company that came to our attention and they do undies that have classic cuts, which feature a Boxer Brief, Brief and Trunk. They have taken the classic undies and made them a little more stylish with color.

The first thing you notice is that all the pairs are a solid color. There aren’t any patterns or prints. The cuts are pretty classic in design. The brief was a little bigger then I like. I would have preferred a little smaller cut.

I wore these to work to see how they would do. Granted I don’t have a too strenuous job. It’s more office work and not too activity taxing. The briefs fit well and follow the sizing chart. The color I got was green. I did this because it’s my favorite color, and I don’t find too many green pairs.

If you are looking for classic but colorful underwear, these would be perfect for you. If you want something a little wilder then these definitely aren’t for you. They are affordable, comfortable and a nice pair of underwear. My only other complaint is I wish they had a better pouch. They weren’t bad but I like a little more support in front

Pros

  •  Great Color selection
  • Classic Styling
  • Affordable

Cons

  • Prefer a smaller cut
  • Wish they had a bigger pouch

This pair was furnished by Me Undies for $16.

I wanted something fun for this round of reviews. When I got the chance to choose a lot of the new N2N I decided I wanted to try the Net line. The other guys on the site have loved this line and I wanted to see what it was all about!  The pair I chose was the Net Jock. It’s sexy and fun and made out of a 100% polyester mesh. The sizing as with most of N2N Bodywear is pretty much spot on! They just know how to make undies for men.

I wore these to work. I knew I was taking a risk wearing mesh for a full 8+ hour day. However, having been familiar with N2N for a few years now I knew I could trust them. My main concern with wearing mesh is that sometimes its can annoy you the longer you wear it. This pair didn’t do that at all. I actually forgot I was wearing mesh.  They really moved and gave me really great support through out daily activities.

The one thing I really love about N2N is they make underwear for men. Andrew and everyone there really pay attention to the fit and function of underwear. It’s not something you have to put on, but something you should want to wear!

I definitely am going to wear my jock again. It’s going in my top underwear drawer. I have worn it since, but this time out for the night and no, no one saw it other then me. It would make a great date night pair!

Available in Nude, White, Black and Green.

Pros

  •  Mesh fits great and moves with you
  • Great to wear to work

Cons

  • Not sure you want to wear this to the gym!
