2(x)ist is one of the first companies  I remember buying when I first started buying my own undies. They were founded in 1991 and I think I have been with them from the beginning. I must preface by saying I thought I did these reviews a weeks back but I noticed I couldn’t find them nor were they posted!

The Sport line is one that came out in the last few months. It is also, the briefs are one of the few pairs I have just bought. Having an underwear blog I rarely have to buy underwear, but I loved the No Show Brief so much and had to get apair. I really wanted the jock but they were out of them in my size. The joys of shopping a major department store, but luckily 2(x)st send me these!

The pair is a really well made. One thing that stands out are the colors.  I received the Green/Black combo. The first thing I really noticed about the line is the waistband with the latex imprint of the 2(x)ist name. Great waistbands always catch my eye.

The pair is made out of 92% cotton and 8% spandex. Which made it fit very well and conform to my body. The leg straps were my only real issue. I wished they stretched a little more.  There were no major issues wearing the pair in a normal day. As with most 2(x)ist underwear, the construction top notch and well sewn. The pair really lived up to my expectations. I am not sure you would wear them for active sports but it would be a great pair for running around town or  going to the gym.

Sizing is rarely an issue with 2(x)ist the size they sent was correct and fit well. They have traditional American sizes.

Pros:

  • Color was my favorite
  • Waistband stood out
  • Comfortable pouch

Cons:

  • Wish the leg straps gave a little more
Fit: 4.5
Materials: 5.0
Construction: 4.5
Look: 4.5

These were furnished for review by 2(x)ist They are available from the 2(x)ist website for $20.

It’s Tuesday so that makes it Baskit $12 Tuesday. Today’s pair is the Action Cool Square Cut As the Baskit Site says: “Stop fretting over exposed waistbands for good! Our Square Cut Brief’s built in waistband provides for a low profile and a clean look unlike any other.” Also, check out the other underwear and swimwear on sale. There are so many amazing underwear manufacturers who are becoming more environmental conscience and socially responsible.  Soleone is one such manufacturer who’s created a biodegradable and hypoallergenic line of underwear.  Likewise, within the fabric, they have built in properties to wick away odor and moisture, keeping you dry.

This particular pair titled, ‘Lower Riser’ is made mostly from bamboo fiber (95%) which is incredibly soft and luxuriously comfortable.  With bamboo being a sustainable resource means it is grown without pesticides or fertilizers.  We can all appreciate a garment that’s safe for our bodies and the environment.  This line is only available in black or white.

Upon initial inspection of this brief, I was visually impressed with the quality of construction, elegant esthetic and the incredible feel of the fabric.  I immediately threw them in the wash and slipped them on when they came out of the dryer.   Throughout the remaining of the day, I was amazingly impressed with how well the low rise cut fit appropriately across my waistline and felt securely in place provided by the Soleone signature, spandex waistband.

However, these are extremely comfortable, well-constructed and provide a high quality of materials and definitely represent high end, fashionable underwear.   I worn these several times within a 3 week period and never once found them uncomfortable or ever realized that I wearing a low rise brief.   While I’m not excited about their price points on their line of underwear, I’m very impressed by the quality of fabrics and construction that go into their brief.   If you’re looking for a classic and well-constructed low rise brief, you might consider giving these a try.

Personal scoring as follows:

Fit: 5.0
Materials: 5.0
Construction: 5.0
Look: 5.0
Daily Wear: 4.5
Overall: 4.9

A crew neck (or crew-neck) is a type of shirt that has a round neckline and no collar, often worn with other layers. The T-shirt crew neck was developed in 1932 as an undergarment that would absorb sweat and prevent shoulder pads of American football players from causing chafing. The U.S. Navy was the first U.S. armed forces to adopt the crew-neck  T-shirt or “Gob Shirt” (cited from Wikipedia)

The  cre neck, “Gob Shirt,” or undershirt as it is known today continued to gain popularity throughout the 1940’s and by the 1950’s  James Dean has created a legend. Dean turned heads in Hollywood, not by dressing up but by dressing down. His casual style teaming the basic crew with denim and a red jacket when he portrayed Jim Stark in ‘Rebel Without a Cause’ was considered uncouth at the time. However once immortalized on screen, James Dean had cemented a rebel uniform for his generation, and for many more to come….

To this day the crew neck is still considered a fashion essential amongst everyday men.

So when Equmen decided to launch their version of the iconic undershirt, the vision was clear. Head Designer Carolina Ale states ‘we wanted to take the legend of the crew and modernize the fit the needs of today’s man” says Ale.

This modern take on the classic crew neck tee will ‘help reduce neck and back pain, strengthen and support core muscles, improve you posture, enhance blood flow and circulation as well as regulate your body’s temperature making sure you stay clean, dry and supported all day,’ says Equmen’s CEO Anthony Pavlakis.

The shirt comes in black, white and new slate grey. Find them all at the Equmen site

Today’s Brief Distraction is from C-IN2. Yesterday we brought you information about the Filthy line and today we bring you another great pic. As you can see the underwear looks “filthy.” When I told to C-IN2 at Magic they told me each garment is hand rubbed to get the effect. It’s definitely a different look in underwear!

Freshpair.com wants you to save on the sexiest styles it carries! They sent us this: “We’re currently offering 25% off on our most risqué styles, from brands such as: Gregg Homme (ending on the 9th!), Good Devil, Go Softwear, Joe Snyder, Intymen, Manstore, Male Power, Obviously, and Magic Silk.” So if you are looking for something sexy and fun definitely don’t let this sale go by without picking up a few pairs! C-IN2 announces it’s new “FILTHY” underwear collection.  The homepage at C-IN2.com states, “Get FILTHY March 9th, 2012.  It also uses the risqué double entendre, “Clean is for pussies!”  The dedicated “FILTHY” page goes on to to describe the new line as, “When comparing squeaky clean to filthy dirty, one is definitely more sexy!  Filthy is a collection of textured fabrics that have been hand-rubbed with pigments and dyes to give a dirty worn-in, worked-in look.  Giving credit to just plain hard work, Filthy was born.  If you work hard, sweat and like getting filthy dirty, C-IN2 lets you flaunt it.”

Are you “FILTHY” minded?  Check C-IN2.com and be among the first to get their hands on (or assets in) something “FILTHY!”

C-IN2’s Creative Director Gregory Sovell, who incidentally is the founder of 2(x)ist and later moved on to open his next underwear brand: C-IN2, hinted at what was coming down the pipeline.  “I always thought that the concept of ‘Dirty’ might be sexier than the notion of ‘Clean” the designer mentioned in a Racked.com interview last October.  We were also treated to the steamy PAROLE video shoot by Rick Day in C-IN2’s continuing saga of when law enforcement and sexy bad boys meet.  In the video, snippets of hot models as parole violators in a trailer home park were being rounded up and arrested wearing their “FILTHY” underwear.  The sexy bad boys who wore the “FILTHY” briefs were: Tattooed Diogo De Castro Gomes: Bulging Anthony Gallo: and Super Sexy Chris Whelan.

Modus Vivendi is one of those underwear companies that has come on to the underwear scene, who’s designs are outside the box. I love to see a company take risks and not do the same boring white, grey and black. Modus Vivendi has used color, cuts and fabrics to define who they are in the world of men’s underwear. One of the greatest sources of inspiration is from their home country of Greece. This inspiration was used to create the Greek Gods line.

They have a brand new line in the Greek Gods section and it’s time to get inspiration from the dark side. It is a part of the Greek Gods collection and this time is Hades’ turn. This range is inspired from the typical rubber and vinyl underwear but with a Modus Vivendi twist. Cotton waistband with adjustable cords for better fit. Cotton and elastane made fabric (black in all items) with black, red, blue or yellow details. This range includes jockstraps, briefs and boxers.

McKillop U/W has really expanded their line up of underwear this year. As we have said they have always been known for their jocks, but they are looking to be known as a full underwear company. The lines they have expanded look great and if they fit as well as the jocks we predict them to be a hit! Here is what they told us about the new line.

Craftsmanship – Our New Collections have been redesigned with old world craftsmanship in mind, many of our styles especially Elevate are not made with mass production techniques. Many of our competitors wouldn’t dare to make the time consuming items that we make here at Mckillop UW. We are not interested in cutting corners; we are interested in making the best. Because these items are so intricately constructed our price point is a bit higher then in previous years but we are targeting a market that appreciates the finer things in life. Our Products are cut by hand, Pinned & caulked to precise measurements. We manufacture our elastics on a monthly small quantity bases because what most don’t know is that elastic looses quality and we offer a longer lasting item.  Most briefs in the market today are fully computer automated sewing both legs at the same time on automated machines whereas ours are only made with human hands. This also helps us achieve our goal of bringing work back to North America, We are very proud to re-launch our brand in this way and we are happy you are on this journey with us.

Elevate – This collection is really unique with the first ever “-Real” butt lifting jock and the E brief; many companies have claimed to lift your assets but the thin elastic just doesn’t cut it. We have just shy of 2” of elastic running continuously from left to right like underwire which pulls you up, Also this elastic creates a smaller fabric area which gives the optical illusion of a small butt as your eye is drawn to the centre of the fabric and not the whole behind region.

Our 2012 version of our most popular item, our pouch is very new, this almost didn’t get released due to the fact that it gives you an obscene bulge, its like nothing we have made before and will really get you noticed. This item was finally launched due to an online poll of our customers and they said more bulge the better, so we shall see!

Daily Basics – This Collection is the jewel in the Mckillop crown, we set out to design the most comfortable collection of Briefs and Boxers and we have done just that! Our Daily Collection as a whole has every item possible from a jock to briefs to long johns and Pjs, all made from our signature modal. Our Daily collection is not an enhancement product but it is the most ergonomic collection on the market today. We have added plush 3/4” elastic around the legs (Briefs and Boxers) to make sure it doesn’t ride up and give full rear coverage (anything below the knee has 3/8” elastic, non of our Daily items are just hemmed (Pjs Excluded) . Every item in this collection has the same brief cut in the design so when someone knows the brief fits like a glove they will also know that the long johns and all of our other lengths will too. We are not joking when we say you will want 7 for every day!

The Traveller – This collection is a deconstructed brief and trunk design, using the minimum seams and thickness as possible. This collection is like a second skin that you barely notice is there, but gives you just enough support to get you through the day. This collection started as a jock or a pouch cover for the winter months, it was designed that where the waistband of the Traveller ends the Pouch elastic starts. Once constructed, we knew that limited to winter months was not in the best interest of our customers, so we thought bigger. The reason we came up with the name The Traveller is because after creating this item we found that it was so small that it rolled up into the size of a golf ball. What a perfect thing for packing on holiday whereas with packing “every inch counts.” These are sold on their own and with a Pouch combo.
