What’s Hot in Texas – Swimwear – July 2018
While most mall-based retailers only stock swimwear during the summer months, Skivvies in Dallas is one of Texas’ few brick-and-mortar stores to carry a full range of men’s swimwear year-round. Need a pair of classic trunks for Labor Day in South Padre? Need a new speedo for that a post-Thanksgiving cruise or a square cut suit for Halloween in Rio? Skivvies has you covered! Topping Texans’ swimsuit shopping lists are clothing from Savage, Tribe, & Bwet.
Shorts in bold prints, such as those from Savauge Swimwear have drawn the eyes of many Texans. These blue hibiscus print shorts feature an on-trend shorter length hemline. A logo tag on the left thigh completes a refined, classic look. This pair retail for $72.
Square cut suits from Bwet Swimwear remain consistent best-sellers at Skivvies. Key to the Spanish designer’s success lies in its attention to detail. In this Sentosa trunk one notices the hanging “B” from the waistband, the Bwet signature drawstring, the coordinating leg elastic, and the Bwet moniker on the left thigh. All those details establish that the wearer (like the suit itself) are worth a second look. This pair retails for $59 at Skivvies.
Finally, Texans looking for a “modest” swim brief turn to Australian design house Tribe Swimwear. Tribe’s line of low rise briefs, such as the Riviera Shimmer, show slightly more thigh than a traditional square cut or Brazilian sunga but aren’t quite as revealing as a typical men’s swim bikini. Tribe’s pouch also offers a cowboy more room up front than one might find in a 2” Solar from Speedo. The coordinating signature drawstring keeps the suit on tight even in Galveston’s roughest surf. Skivvies offers this suit for $59. It may also be ordered directly from Tribe Swimwear, where it retails for $73.95 (AUD$).
Many thanks to the generous owners and staff at Skivvies for spending time with UNB. We talked and photographed – and shopped – for nearly two hours on a recent Monday.
Alright readers, if you have been following my content I have been mostly writing about swim thongs. They are pretty exciting, right? Well I wanted to write to you today about Men’s Yoga Pants, especially these ones made by Go Softwear and how they have put me on the frontlines of gym dress codes of the 21st Century.
These pants are incredibly comfortable. The material is moisture wicking and actually quite roomy for the “boys.” However, I have scoured the internet to find ANYTHING like this. NOTHING. ZILCH. NADA. This is it guys, the only tight fitting yoga pants I could find.
Which brings me to my next point; Why are tights and especially yoga tights not made for men? Or better yet, why are tights maybe frowned upon today? What is…everyone afraid of?
I guess someone has to say it- I think people, even in the 21st Century are afraid of the sight of well…a penis. GASP. IS THAT WHAT I THINK IT IS?! Yes people, and half of the people on earth today come equipped with one when they are born. That is what I think the elephant in the room is, pun intended.
So I have a little story for you all. I strolled into a local gym to work out. I’ve gotten into yoga recently, hence the pants, and after a yoga session, I would go hit up the free weights to get my strength training in. Well, I had been doing this for several weeks at said gym, in my Go Softwear tights and all without incident.
Then out of the blue a male gym attendant is standing in front of me after I am finishing some bent over rows. He’s looking at me, half glancing, in my eyes signaling he wants to talk to me. So, I take my headphones out.
“Yes…?”
“Sir, I’ve been sent over here to ask if you have a pair of shorts to wear over your pants. You are, um, too revealing.”
Granted this is in the weight room, in front of EVERYONE, listening to this AWKWARD conversation.
“No I don’t” I said.
“Well next time you come in please wear basketball shorts. Sorry to bother you.” And like that I was crushed… I guess the future would have to wait for Shawn…At least at this gym.
The next day, I strolled in, begrudgingly wearing good ole basketball shorts and I do my daily workout. Then out of the blue, GASP, another man in tights walks into the gym and rides the stationary bikes. I keep peeking from my workout to see if the REDCON 1 ALERT is activated for this man’s egregious choice in gym apparel.
Nothing happens. In fact, no one even blinks. NOTHING IS HAPPENING!
Now I am now for lack of better words…PISSED.
I knock on the glass door to the weight room manager’s office and speak to the gym manager to explain my case and obvious inequality in gym attire enforcement.
“Oh that’s Jeff he’s been coming here for years,” the manager said.
“So then why did I have to change?” I ask.
“Well no one’s ever complained about Jeff…” the manager casually said.
Might as well have thrown a brick through his glass door.
“SO SOMEONE HAS TO COMPLAIN ABOUT ME FOR ME TO NOT WEAR TIGHTS? IF NO ONE COMPLAINS THEN IT IS OK??!”
Needless to say, the manager back peddled and insisted that MY tights were “more revealing.”
BS. Let me talk to the Director. And I did.
And guess what? Men’s tights are not prohibited on their national brand dress code and I was vindicated. Checkmate. Business as usual.
I continued to work out there for several months, but my job has taken me to a new gym, and I am now going through the same litigation to get approved to wear my Go Soft Wear tights. What is the world coming to? As I have found out surprisingly, it is MEN complaining about my attire? MEN!! Seriously!?
Being a trendsetter takes work and courage, and I will continue to fight this double standard between women and men and yoga pants everywhere I go. What do you guys think? Am I wrong?

Modus Vivendi makes some amazing underwear. They also have some of the best pics on the underwear market. They have released quite a few lines this year. We hope you will check out all the UNB Modus Vivendi Write-Ups and shop the Modus Vivendi site.
It’s been a long time coming. Since I first started the blog, one of the most asked questions has been: “When are you starting your own store/brand?” I can’t tell you how many times I was asked that question. After talking for several years and being approached to do this current iteration, it’s been 2 years in the making. The last six months I have been busy getting things in order. Now I have to keep up with new deals!
The new site is called UNB Deals! It’s not super catchy but it’s all about deals! 4 years of reader surveys results show me there is a need for this site. The UNB Deals site will focus on closeout undies. I plan to expand into swimwear, spandex and more gear. New deals will be on Saturday to start. As we grow we will offer them more days!
The first deal of the week is from Baskit! We have several pairs for you! Including some great shirts. Check them out. Next week we have something from down under for you! Join our email list to be notified as well!
I love bringing you guys up and coming models. One I have seen on Instagram a lot is Jaye Sand. He has an amazing look. I think we will see a lot more of him in the future. Here is our interview.
Why did you want to get into modeling?
That’s a good question. I never actually planned on going into modeling; it just sort of happened to me. I was contacted by a photographer out of the blue and asked if I wanted to model for him, so I did it and ended up really liking it. I decided to use it as a motivational tool to continue pushing myself to be better.
Why underwear/swimwear underwear/swimwear?
It’s a very liberating feeling being able to pose in only underwear/swimwear. I also find that people tend to be more interested in photos that show more skin. But, I imagine that’s not a very surprising revelation.
What do you think sets you apart from other models in the industry?
I love being able to help a photographer create art. Creating a piece that makes a viewer feel something is my goal going into any shoot, even if what the viewer feels is just the desire to buy the brand that I’m wearing. It’s great being able to work with a variety of photographers and having the capability to create images that wildly differ in both an emotional and creative aspect. I think this is what sets me apart from some other models in the industry. I think some models get too caught up in the ego or money that is sometimes involved in modeling.
Having had the pleasure of modeling so far with Blue Nectar Tequila, I’ve learned brand modeling is a fulfilling and enjoyable experience. I have worked with a variety of photographers, so I won’t bore the readers with a long list, but I will say that I really love working with the photographer Gordon Nebeker. It’s always a lot of fun working with him and I’m always happy with the results in the end.
Underwear has many styles from boxer briefs to thongs. Do you have any pairs you don’t want to wear on a shoot?
Thongs really don’t look good on me. They just are not pleasurable to wear. I guess I’m just not a thong enthusiast.
Are there any underwear/swimwear brands you’d love to work with? Why?
I’d love to work with Aronik. I really like the look of their swimwear. They are definitely my dream brand.
Which photographers would you love to work with on a project?
I’d love to work with Chris Davis, his photography brand is called specular. He has taken some really interesting images and it would be amazing to get the chance to work with him.
Outside of modeling and working out what do you do in your down time? What are your hobbies and interests?
I enjoy spending most of my time being active. My hobbies include: rock climbing, water skiing, swimming, hiking, anything that helps me disconnect. I also really want to try skydiving one day. I usually spend most of my time studying for classes though. Student life typically doesn’t leave that much free time.
Models can’t always eat great what is your favorite guilty pleasure in food?
Sometimes when I have that late-night craving I’ll order a whole large pizza and eat it myself. Highly recommend.
We are an underwear blog so what makes up your underwear drawer? (what percentage of briefs, boxer briefs, jocks, thongs do you have?
40% boxer briefs
30% briefs
15% trunks
10% jockstraps

Considering the weather in the Lone Star State is hotter than Papa Bear’s porridge, we here at UNB thought y’all might be interested in what underwear is selling like hotcakes in Texas. A quick trip to Skivvies in Dallas (http://www.skivviesdallas.net) provided lots of information about which underwear is flying off the shelves.
Nasty Pig’s Jockstraps top the underwear shoppers’ lists in Big D, the local’s moniker for the City of Dallas. Texans can’t get enough of Nasty Pig’s Take Down Jock, especially the version in black with white piping. The Take Down retails for $29 at Skivvies. Other color options include blue/white and red/white. Texans are also picking up the coordinating Hook’d Up Sport Socks for $12 to complete the NP look.
Texans’ top second and third choices for new undergear also come from Nasty Pig. The Xposed Brief and the Xposed Jock, both in red with blue accents, rival each other in weekly sales stats. Both retail for $32 each. Skivvies’ store manager shared that the NP line of underwear has fast become a favorite of both gay and straight clientele.
Finally, honorable mention status goes to the 2018 ribbed briefs from Pump! Underwear. The navy has proven extremely popular; red and military green are also available. The pair retails for $31 at Skivvies.
Many thanks to the generous owners and staff at Skivvies for spending time with UNB. We talked and photographed – and shopped – for nearly two hours on a recent Monday. If you can’t find what you’re looking for on Skivvies’ website, they accept phone orders at 214-559-4955. A trip to their physical location at 4001 Cedar Springs Road in Dallas is also worth your time.
Today we run a picture from 2010 and Aware SOHO. Aware SOHO is a brand we covered a lot back in the day. However, they have released a new collection. Check out the new collection.
I know we profile a lot of over the top and bright pairs. I personally still love the classics as well. One new brand that has come on the market is Inizio. It may have a strange name but they have some really great pairs! For you thong fans, you won’t find any here. They focus on boxer briefs and briefs. Well, heavy on the boxer briefs. Also, some longer pairs! So Boxer Brief fans rejoice, we have a post for you!
The color palette is on the conservative side. It consists of white, black, navy and dark greens. Its carried out in both solids and stripes. Everything you would expect from a classic line. Even the waistbands are classic. Most of them have the name in a matching or complementary color. Match that with a tag on the back. That’s all the branding on the pair.
One thing that may surprise you is they have some work out wear. The longer is made for the gym and can be worn alone or with shorts over (but we encourage you to wear them without shorts!). The dark colors are perfect for the gym. I wasn’t expecting that from this line but it’s a pleasant surprise.
If you want to see all this collection go to Candyman Fashion and check them out.
We have another real guy for you! This time it’s John

Osgon’s Recommendation: Buy!
During a recent trip to Skivvies in Dallas, Jockmail’s low rise “No Fly Brief” caught my eye hanging on a wall display. I’m always on the lookout for unusual patterns and unfamiliar brands. I loved this brief’s bright yellow camo pattern, and the Jockmail brand was completely unknown to me. $29+tax later, I was on my way home with something new to test for UNB’s readership.
My test for this pair involved a day of grocery shopping and puttering around the house. This brief proved to be exceptional.
The pouch provided ample, comfortable support, although it isn’t as generous (and the fabric isn’t quite as stretchy) as that found in an N2N Bodywear bikini. Nonetheless, I never felt too constricted or needed to readjust things upfront.
The brief provided perfect, all-over backside coverage. The black leg bands stayed in place without ever being too tight or too loose. Any time I needed to squat down, the fabric stretched appropriately without creeping up the back. In short, this brief’s fit fell within the “Goldlocks zone” of comfort.
The 1.75” black elastic waistband didn’t roll and stayed well below the bellybutton. One unique design feature is the pair’s tag: it’s sewn into the waistband along the right hip. The tag never felt scratchy or uncomfortable to me, but this location might be a turnoff to some.
This brief’s camouflage fabric is composed of 80% polyester and 20% spandex. This blend doesn’t “breathe” as well as a cotton-based fabric, and this brief might not provide comfortable long-term wear if you’re going to be out in extreme temperatures. Otherwise, it is extremely comfortable and supportive.
The brief sadly no longer available from Jockmail’s website (www.jockmail.co), but you might be able to find it in your local brick-and-mortar establishment. You can also contact our friends at Skivvies (www.skivviesdallas.com or 214-559-4955) and order a pair. (For items not available on Skivvies’ website, they will accept and process special requests over the phone.)
The brief comes in five colors: yellow (purchased), red, blue, green, & grey. Sizing includes medium (30” – 32”), large (32” – 34”), and extra-large (34” – 36”). Sizing proved accurate.
I was thrilled with this brief’s performance. I look forward to buying more underwear from Jockmail in the future!
Go WILD this week with the new $12 Tuesday! This week’s amazing pair on sale is the Wild Lines Tank. The Tank is “WildStripes tank sports a bold, blue, ribbed hem on the neckline and shoulder and each side sports a rugged block stitch using the same bold, blue thread”
This can be worn with jeans, to the gym or around the house. It’s regularly $22 but today only get it for $12. Don’t Miss out!
You know that Sukrew makes awesome undies. But did you know they also make swimwear? Yes! This is their amazing model Marshall in Sukrew!
PPU has always been one brand that is always fun. They have never been one to stick to the plain and simple designs. Their designs have been over the top and always on the wild side. I wouldn’t say that they are a “fetish” brand. When I think fetish brand it’s more of the leather community and bondage. Maybe that’s just my own shallow definition. This now enters that world, lace and more. I think they have all fetish levels and likes covered in this.
Many pairs of this collection are 100% see-through mesh or cutouts. We can’t show you the full monty here but you can see it on a few sites. I”m not sure all will cover it. The mesh is black and mixed with harnesses. These pairs would definitely be for a bar night or a fun night out. Or a fun night in where you don’t go out for the weekend.
If that’s not your thing we have some more of the traditional PPU pair with cutouts and pouches that accent your manhood. Also, included in this new line is mesh. If memory serves me correct, and I bet it’s not. They haven’t done much with lace over the years. Not like Candyman and Pikante.
Overall this is a show-off collection. It’s about having fun and being with others who appreciate it. Check out this and all the PPU at the Candyman Fashion site. If you like the wild side of undies, you are going to love this line. As you can see by the pics here.

I became interested in sexy underwear over 20 years ago when I saw Covington bikini briefs at Sears one day. I would mainly wear boxers when I knew I would be around females and kept my fetish to myself for a long time. But now after being married for 14 years, it’s wasn’t easy keeping to myself. My wife does not like the underwear I wear but understands and is ok with briefs. She doesn’t like the thongs or jockstraps at all. After being honest with her and explaining why I choose to wear these styles of underwear, she tolerates it. (She thinks that I wear gay underwear) so I continue to wear what I want when I want but also respect that she doesn’t like when I wear them so, I still wear lots of boxers to bed and lounge around the house. Happy wife, happy life right?
I do not do social media and do not ever post pictures of myself in underwear. I will continue to use this platform to do so. I mainly wear briefs to work and change into thongs when I get home. I change out of my construction clothes when I get home every day. Sometimes I wear thongs to work(always with my belt on tight!) Some of my favorite brands are Andrew Christian, Obviously, Pistol Pete, Big Boys Pants, and N2N. I have approximately 75 pairs. I am a Medium in almost all brands and a waistband is a must for me.
This pair in the picture is by Cover Male. Model CML006 g-string Black, size medium, enjoy!

Alongside leopard spots and camouflage, lace has become a fashion perennial in men’s underwear. Every year or so there are headlines about lace becoming a new ‘thing’, but it’s here to stay – and has been for a while at Deadgoodundies.com in the UK. Male lingerie made its debut more than a decade ago (remember HOM’s 3001 collection?) yet true lace designs, rather than translucent tulle or mesh, are still considered more daring, outré and, for some, risky. Fearless Brits are consistent buyers of lacy undies, from micro strings to long leg boxer briefs and leggings, skin tight t-shirts to wickedly wonderful bodies. Good job DGU sends everything in plain parcels!
Express yourself in lace from European male lingerie specialists L’Homme Invisible who also create great devoré and tattoo effect men’s underwear.
L’Homme Invisible Ocean Life V Neck T-shirt £84
An early arrival for autumn is the French brand’s subtle take on lace – an ultra fine leaf effect fabric. Part of a botanical inspired collection from HOM.
If you love lace, Manstore from Germany is one of the go-to brands on DGU. Their Cheeky Body in azure or apricot with a strappy front and racer back earns the name for sure!
Did we say daring? Joe Snyder’s designers are maestros when it comes to combining minimalism with maximum impact – and enhancement. Their latest Bulge offering comes in black or white lace, tulle or lots of solid colours.
Joe Snyder Thong Maxi Bulge 06 £27
Dip your toe into the lingerie experience with a Doreanse short that adds an opaque pouch to luscious lace. This look is also available as brief 1353 (£13) and longer leg boxer brief 1953 (£21).
Yes, a LACE jockstrap. Quite something isn’t it? Joe Snyder’s limited edition comes in black or white and one size.
Joe Snyder Lacy Jockstrap 16 Ltd Edition £22
