Men’s Underwear

Category

Did you know you could be buying Underwear wrong! Well, not that you’re doing the transaction wrong but rather some habits you have maybe costing you money and leaving you with underwear that you may not like, oh let’s face it, undies you hate!

We came up with five mistakes guys make when buying underwear. I’m guilty of these myself. If you’re in a hurry and not looking, you can do any number of these

Getting the Wrong Sizing

The first mistake and probably the biggest is not looking at the size chart and ordering the wrong size. If you buy all your undies from a brand you know and love, this is less of an issue. However, if you buy from overseas or a new brand, ALWAYS check the size guide. Not all brand have a medium as a 32-inch waist. I have seen some brand where a 32 is an XL!

Make it a habit to check the size guide for all brand you wear. It will make sure that if you get an incorrect size, it will be on the website and not you!

Fabric composition

I have done this one. You see a pair that is super hot. It’s everything you want in a pair. The color, waistband, and cut. It’s like it fell from underwear heaven just for you. You quickly order it. But once it comes in the mail, you realize that its a fabric blend you don’t like. Such as polyester with not a lot of give in the fabric.

You go back to the site and look and see that the fabric was listed and you didn’t pay attention because you wanted that pair. I have had several pairs of these over the years!

Unknowingly buying Knockoffs

This is a more recent one. If you buy from a brand or well-known underwear retailers, this will be less of an issue. If you buy from sites that are a conglomeration of sellers, you could run into this problem. Most big brands have knock-offs on sites big and small. One named after a river in South America.

These pairs are usually way under the cost of the brand’s website. The quality of the fabric and construction are way less. As the old saying goes “You get what you pay for.” If you find a pair of Andrew Christian for $3 online, buyer beware. If you buy from these sites, make sure you’re buying directly from the brand or a seller you know and trust.

Not reading the care instructions

One thing that isn’t pointed out as much as it should be is care instructions. There are so many pairs out there that look amazing on the site but tell you to hand wash and air dry. A lot of guys don’t have the time to do this and stick them in the washing machine, only to have them degrade or be destroyed in the washing machine.

A lot of stores have the care instructions at the very bottom or on another tab on the page. If you buy lace, silk, leather or similar fabric. Check the care instructions before you buy.

Buying styles out of habit

The last one is for those guys who have always worn boxer briefs. It’s not venturing out and trying something new. Or could be said the same for any style. It’s important to try something out of your comfort zone. One thing that I discovered I like a lot are the longer, athletic boxer briefs. When I work out the support is great as is the support. I never thought I would enjoy them. On the other end, I enjoy some thongs too.

Try new things and don’t fall into just one style. Enjoy all that underwear has to give!

These are our five mistakes, what mistakes do you guys see other guys, or yourself, making

Bring the heat with the new Spice collection. The new collection from Cocksox is all about solid and bold colors! Not every guy who reads UNB wants prints, patterns or such. They want some bright and bold colors that express who they are! There are four new colors. A new style and a singlet aka tank top! Sorry guys, but down under they call singlets, tank tops.

The four new colors in this collection are Sumac Red, Mint, Casablanca, Lapis Blue. These colors are inspired by the desert and the rich culture of Morocco. They will make a statement. I personally love big bold colors in underwear. It’s fun to put them on and wear them all day. The red, which I saw in Vegas, is vibrant and fun. Well, the entire collection is amazing and well worth looking into adding to your underwear drawer.

New in this collection is the CX05BD Thong. It’s the classic thong design with contrast color trim. It’s similar to CXO1 they released a few years ago. Next is they ware adding the CX03 Waistband Brief and the CX93 long boxer brief. The Long boxer brief is pretty amazing. This is coming from someone who isn’t a big boxer brief fan. The legs are tight and have the amazing Cocksox pouch. I don’t know how they translate it from a brief to a boxer brief.

Lastly is the Tank. They have them with the Cocksox logo on the front. You can broadcast your love for the brand! I’m sure if you wore out in general public you would get some looks. Or if you wore to the gym! Some of you guys just really don’t care and will rock it regardless!

Make sure you head to the Cocksox site and check out the Spice Collection

Guys come to this blog for some of the best underwear on the planet. From thongs to boxer briefs and everything in between, is what you guys want. Lately, it’s been a lot of thongs and skimpier gear. Bikinis have always been popular but there has been a big resurgence in thongs. This is not just gay guys but straight guys are loving the thong. So, you have a great underwear collection, but want to branch out a little, what gear is next? Glad you asked. I started my journey with undies but love a lot. Here are a few of my favorites. I have them divided up for guys who want to step out and try the waters. To those who have some experince, to those who are into it or just want to jump in the deep end:

Swim Briefs – Intermediate

A natural transgression from undies is swim briefs. Yes, we have out annual Swim Brief Challenge, but not everyone is convinced to try them. Imagine how amazing your bikinis and briefs feel every day. Now imagine you could have that same feeling on the beach. Amazing support along with a fit you love. Try the traditional Speedo and TYR brands most swimmers and divers wear. These won’t show off too much for a beginner and has a great fit. After you try them move on to more brads.

Singlets/Spandex – Moderate

This is my all-time favorite. Singlets that is but we include spandex as well. I currently have about 15-20 singles. They were not the first spandex gear I bought but they are my favorite. The look and feel of them make them amazing. Mix that with the fact you don’t have to wear anything under them. Granted, you could wear a jock, brief or thong under them. Singlets are no longer for HS and college wrestling. It’s entered the world as fetishwear. You can get the full cut collegiate style to cut-outs in the front or back for fun time. It all depends on what you like.

Spandex includes more than just singlets. Runners, shorts, and shirts are other gear to look at buying. Since the introduction of UnderArmour, compression and just workout gear made from spandex are having a renaissance of sorts. It’s made it main stream to rock a spandex shirt to the gym. Or wear compression shorts to the gym under your shorts. One reason I love this gear is that it gives you a lot of support when working out. There are more and more brands to try. UA is one of the most expensive but check around for different brands.

Fetishwear – Advanced

Last is fetishwear. I”m not talking underwear fetishwaear. I’m talking leather, rubber, and latex. Leather has been around for almost forever I think. It’s been relegated to gay men but the straight world is taking notice and starting to get into harnesses, chaps and jocks. Plus, you’re no longer a freak for wearing leather. I say go have fun with it! I have a few pieces and want more. Just be warned it’s addictive and way more than undies.

Start small in this with a harness or jock. Then see how you like it and grow the collection. Make sure you involve your significant other in the fetishwear. If you don’t have a SO, well then go explore and have fun. Once you get into looking at fetishwear it will grow exponentially. Let that side you resist come out and play!

Recommendations

  1. If you love undies, branch out and explore more
  2. Get competitive style swim briefs if you want to step out on a limb before committing
  3. To go a bit wilder, explore spandex. Singlets, runners, shorts, and more! It’s not too expensive to buy.
  4. If you want to plunge into the deep end, go right or the leather/latex/rubber gear. Let that freak flag fly high and proud.
  5. Don’t let anyone discourage you from trying something you want to wear. Go have fun regardless of size, shape, or body type. Be who you are!

I love bringing you guys new brands. A new one that just came onto the international market is Mr. Smith. It’s a brand I think you guys will love. This what they told us about the brand:

Men’s underwear is nothing new. First introduced just over a hundred years ago to solve the problem of men’s anatomy and bicycles, it’s evolved significantly. Over the years men’s smalls have become more interesting and a staple fashion item for many a young chap’s wardrobe. But the model of new underwear brands is often very much the same. That is, think of a name, send it to a factory somewhere and let them deal with it all for you.

Not the case for young entrepreneur Craig, who has made it his mission over recent years to champion the UK textile industry and find another way.

Following the decline of the UK’s textile manufacturing sector, the number of British clothing factories has diminished to a fraction of its former presence. Where once, towns in the north would have a factory on most street corners, now they lay scattered about the country, specializing in their own field.

Presented with the problem of large initial orders and the prospect of having to deal with import agencies starting out, Craig decided on a different route; do it yourself.

Based from his small factory in the heart of Yorkshire, Craig has created a lean but efficient production facility based within a still-working yarn mill.  Equipping the factory with all of the necessary machines to do the job from savings and working alongside, he opened the factory 9 years ago, designing and making for other small brands along the way. A long-term dream he set out with; to do better and to do it here in Britain was finally underway.

Craig began his life in underwear manufacturing by launching his first brand, Bum-Chums, a quirky brand aimed towards the LGBT market, filling a niche. He was insistent that as much of the manufacturing should be done in the UK as possible. From the knitting of the cloth in Nottingham, the dying of the cloth in Huddersfield and the making of the Elastic in the midlands, the running theme was to support the UK textile industry. Making the underwear himself was just the natural extension of that model.

So launching Mr Smith’s, very much a mass-market underwear brand really is the natural evolution for him.

After spending time learning the craft and perfecting the shapes and fit of his men’s underwear designs, Craig launched the initial collection of Mr Smith’s in February of this year.  Creating Mr Smith’s Underwearto be a heritage brand with a real sense of provenance, Craig set the foundations for a brand he hopes will see the test of time and rejuvenate the British Textile trade.

Already, he is working on the second collection, which Craig says will see the introduction of colour to the current monochromatic palate. “Colour is important with underwear, as are prints. Many men like me base their look for the day based on the underwear they select.” Craig suggests.

With new styles that the brand says has been designed and engineered to fit, enhance, support and complement the masculine physique.

Mr Smith’s Underwear can be found online at mrsmithsunderwear.co.ukand Craig tells us that he is currently in discussion with a number of boutique stores on the high street as well as online too. The Mr Smith’s debut collection includes men’s Trunk and Brief styles of underwear and they’re priced at just £18. The product is great value, especially considering it’s a British-Made item.

Where are our show-offs? We have something that is made to show off in. 4 Hunks has created their very first pair of spandex shorts. These aren’t just any shorts they have the sexy and erotic spin that you would expect for 4 Hunks. 4 Hunks are all about helping a guy wear gear that they just feel sexy AF in wearing. Having received a few pieces, I feel like I can confidently say that!
Here is what 4 Hunks told us about the new shorts:
We designed this short to give you a gear that you can tease and play with other Hunks. To tease them taking selfies or flirting in a bar or club.
We choose the lightest lycra so that you can show your male vpl through the lycra. Fabric that feels cool on the skin and that follows every centimeter of your body, and that feels awesome when you rub it against your skin. In addition to that, we searched for the best proportion between the mesh and the lycra to enhance your butt form. Your butt looks yummy on this skinsuit short.
On the front, we add a pop-up area to tease Hunks hoping that something might pop-up outside to the mesh area if you get too excited flirting.
Are you ready to tease some Hunks?”
Check out the new shorts! We hope you wear them out and have fun!

4-Hunks furnished the Load Brief for review.  All opinions of the review are my own and were not influenced by (brand).

Rating: 9/10 (Average of the ratings below)

  • Daily Fit: 9/10
  • Sizing: 9/10
  • Construction: 9/10
  • Styling: 9/10
  • Daily Performance: 9/10

Pros:

  • A great mix of fetish and regular pair.
  • Fits great and gives great support
  • Super fun design

Cons

  • Note if you have issues with some mesh it may rub you the wrong way
  • May not be a work pair if you have to show undies

UNB Tim recommendation: It’s a great mix of a traditional pair and fetish. You can wear to work under jeans or a suit. Then head out for a fun night at the bar or home with a harness. It’s a great pair that I really enjoyed and plan to wear a lo tmore

This is my first pair of 4 Hunks for a review. This won’t be my last either, I have a few different things to try out. I’m super excited because I love their style that is a mix of regular underwear and fetishwear! The brief I am reviewing is the Load Brief. This brief is a mesh brief. I have some issues with mesh briefs. Some of the fabrics feel like a cheese grater on my business. It’s not a design or brand but the mesh and me. I usually have to adjust and it’s fine.

Unfortunately, this happened with this pair. But it was something I expected and prepared for, so it wasn’t an issue and I didn’t take off for that in my overall review. I wore this pair to work on a regular day. I didn’t do anything too athletic or working out. I really liked the fit and feel of the pair. The mesh was stretchy and gave great coverage. It was even more so than I expected.

The look of the pair is super sexy. You can wear it just as is with jeans or a suit. I think it would be awesome under a suit. Pair this with their harness and it’s total fetish pair. The sports mesh harness would be ideal but any of their harnesses will make a great partner. I like pairs that can be fetish or regular underwear!

The sizing surprised me. I was expecting it to be smaller than it was. The size received was an XL. On the 4 Hunks size chart that fits 41-42 inch waist. They have an odd size chart but for the most part, it’s pretty standard. The medium is a 31.5-33.4 inches. Just double check the size chart before you buy!

PAIR: 4 Hunks Load Brief
COLORS: Black
FABRIC: Polyamid
SIZES: Small – X-Large
COST: 29 Euros

There are two things you guys love, skimpy undies and small prices. But, who doesn’t love those things that read this blog? One new brand that Planet Undies brought to our attention is Bucksters. This is what they told us about the line:

“Bucksters Underwear, 100% sexy! The brand presents men’s underwear very mini and at low prices, through models of thong, mini slips and body. A range of very visual colors, and the classic white and black classics. The Insolent Thong is the best-selling model, it is characterized by a good fitting and a very well made visual appearance.”

The line is smaller than most. There are only four styles. The Body String So Free, String Bolster, Insolent Micro Thong, and Lovely Thong. The last two have 4 colors in the line. They are limited in the amount of colors. But that’s not a bad thing. As the line grows they will have more colors.

Beauty is, they say, in the eye of the beholder. The same applies to colour, especially for men’s underwear. This week the experts at Deadgoodundies.com in the UK are revelling in a carnival of new summer shades. As they say, perception is everything. One man’s crimson is another chap’s pink, while blues and greens can appear different depending on far more than just eyesight. Matt, silky or truly shiny, ultra smooth, finely or intensely textured, the effect of a colour is also influenced by the type of fabric. And once on the body, a colour can come into its own or fall totally flat.

MANSTORE M101 CHEEKY BRIEF £31.00

MANSTORE M200 CHEEKY BRIEF £31.00

HOM FUNKY TRUNK £22.00

Sometimes colour works best on a larger scale – on boxer briefs like these from HOM. Funky Trunks come in turquoise, navy, green, orange, yellow and bright pink. Another seasonal palette that won’t be around long.

COMFYBALLS SUPERLIGHT PERFORMANCE LONG BOXER £30.00

In Pitch Black this new sporty long leg undershort for men is a classic – but in the brand’s new orange with a navy waistband, the effect is much livelier.

Are you ready for some more PetitQ? The brand is back with their third line of 2018. Last year they released, I believe, 8 different collections. This is massive in the world of men’s underwear. Most brands released 2-3 collections a year. Talking with them, they are working hard to create some great gear! I think they succeed each release!

They love making sexy underwear without rules. This new collection has lace, harness and skimpy cuts. It’s what they are known for creating. This collection we are going to focus on a few pairs that I think you guys will love. However, there are a few more pairs in this collection.

HARNESS TARNIOS

Harnesses are one of the newest hottest things in the world of fetishwear. The new Harness Tarnios is pretty cool. It’s ring and elastic design has a bulldog harness design. It’s actually a really cool design. The rings are just in the front and side. The elastic forms the straps. I really like this design a lot! The Harness Tarnios retails for $29.95.

BIKINI CEYRAT

Looking for something with a bit more flair? Something with a pouch and some lace? The Bikini Ceyrat is perfect for you. The front is half lace with a pouch. The cutouts leave little to the imagination. The pouch on the left is blue and right is white. Imagine wearing this on a date night! The Bikini Ceyrat is available in Navy and White, retails for $17.90

BIKINI BASTET

You guys LOVE skimpy gear. Regardless of gay/straight it’s all about the skimpy and great fit. The Bikini Bastet is more of a jock thong. The front has the look of a bikini but the back is completely open with a strap down the middle. It’s a really cool design! It retails for $16.90 and comes in Navy.

Go to the PetitQ site to see more of the amazing pairs.

There is something that is causing controversy in gyms across the country… Well, not really but I thought it would be fun to make that statement. But, there is a new conundrum with the rise of runners. Do you wear them by themselves or do you wear shorts over them? There seem to be two different views.

There is the group that has no issue wearing runners to the gym without anything over them. A guy has curves and bulges and it’s nothing to be ashamed up. Outside of the obvious show-offs, most guys who wear them to the gym want the extra support throughout a workout. They are not there to show off everything they have to everyone who cares to look. The runners simply are comfortable gym gear. Most guys who don’t wear anything over them tend to wear the brighter colors and prints. They like having fun with their gear as much as their underwear.

Then there are the guys who feel that you should wear shorts over them. These guys do it for modesty. They don’t want to show off their business to everyone. These guys are a bit more conservative. They don’t wear the bright colors and prints. They stick to the classic black, navy and such. Wanting the same support as the other guys, they just feel its less of a statement piece and more function over form.

Which type of guy are you? Which guy is right? My personal opinion is that you should be able to wear them without shorts. I hate the extra layer on me, especially when working out. Plus I like the awesome colors as well. But, it’s about doing what you want, if you feel comfortable going without shorts and if you don’t wear the shorts. Do what you feel best.

Let us know which you do!
