Men’s Underwear

Category

I am in the market for new undies. But, reading an underwear blog aren’t we always in the market for amazing undies? After my visit to Skivvies in Dallas, I wanted to get some new undies that would be amazing! So I peruse the usual sites and see what strikes my eye.  It’s either feast or famine when I shop. This time,  after being on a few sites there is everything I want. Narrowing down my decisions is difficult.

Shopping online I usually just start adding things to the cart and will sort it out at the end. So after looking for 30-40 minutes, I open my cart to see the damage. As I opened the Cart it was over $700 in underwear. I thought there must be an error in the cart. Like a few pairs had quantities of 2 or 3. After going down the list, nope everything was single pairs. At this point, I was like, NO WAY I have this much here. But I did.

I had to rethink my shopping. I love underwear but no way I can afford $700 in undies! I decided to be strategic about this shopping. Specifically, get pairs I can review on UNB, not just buy undies for the sake of buying them. We cover a ton of brands we never get to review. After this revelation, I cleared out the cart and decided to start over.

Now I’m looking at some of the brands we don’t get great gear from on a regular basis. Brands like Obviously, Mundo Unico, Ergowear, aussieBum, John Sievers and more. Yes, all these do have great pouches! This is one of the most important things to me in underwear. One pair I am thinking of getting as well is one from the Waistband Post the other day. Can you guess which one it is?

The Spartan Race – Hong Kong’s longest, muddiest, and most thrilling obstacle course – is back with a vengeance, and so is BWET Swimwear! Last April, BWET – the original creator of high-quality city style swimwear for men – surprised thousands of Spartan racers by running a DJ shower station.

The 2017 Spartan Race promises to be the toughest yet, and for a bigger, rougher obstacle course, BWET Swimwear will be bolder, and its showering booth will be bigger – This year, BWET Swimwear will outfit its showering stations with soaped-up models holding water guns, tons of fun, and an exciting DJ for its bravest fans: the thousands of participants running in the Hong Kong 2017 Spartan Race!

BWET Swimwear is a Spanish brand, designed and developed for professionals by creative minds in Barcelona, and New York.

BWET Swimwear, the largest sponsor of the Hong Kong 2017 Spartan Race can’t wait to get out there. Can you?
We’ll see everyone who’s bold enough to BWET Saturday, November 4th, at the Kam Tin Country Club, in Yuen Long.

We have two different guys. Those who love waistbands (like myself) and those who do not like them. I am firmly in the camp of having fun and amazing waistbands. Logos and names don’t bother me at all. Sometimes the waistband is the reason why I buy a pair. It can really set a pair off. This post we will talk about which brands consistently have amazing waistbands. This is also, is a primer on what brands not to buy if you hate waistbands. The brands that really outdo themselves on designing of waistbands are Andrew Christian, aussieBum and 2EROS/SupaWear.

Andrew Christian

Andrew Christian has consistently created amazing waistbands. Most of his lines carry different kinds of bands. Sometimes they include the name of  the brand and other times it’s the line. Lines include Trophy Boy, Blow, and Massive just to name a few. One of my favorite bands he has created lately is the FUKR line. The black band with small writing in orange. It’s different and fun to me! I think Andrew spends as much time on the waistbands as he does the underwear!

aussieBum

aussieBum has bands that are for branding. They always have the aB name on it. I can’t recall off the top of my head when they last did a band that didn’t. aussieBum can have classic bands like the Classic Original. This basically their take on the classic brief. The only thing classic is the design. The colors and fabric are super awesome. My favorite brand by them right now is on the Grizzly line. It’s a chunky thick band that has aB written in BIG letters. I love the design as well! Watch out I maybe reviewing them soon.

2EROS/SupaWear

I think 2EROS sees the waistband as an extension of the underwear. It is designed to complement and sometimes match the underwear. Every detail with them is thought out and nothing is left to chance. The newer underwear has the name of the brand and sometimes line. The one line that I think I like the best is the Vavoom line. The brand matches the color of the underwear. It’s genius!

Underwear waistbands are almost like an art form. I’m not knocking any brands for not doing them. They take work and money to create.  Give me an amazing pouch, incredible fabric, and no waistband and I”m still sold. The waistband is something extra for me! I’m curious are you guys for waistbands?

Over the years we have always said guys need classic underwear in their drawers. However, over the last few years, the underwear market for men is changing. It’s making me think do we need to have classic underwear or just rock whatever we want to no matter where we go, such as the gym or doctor. Now, if Classic underwear is your jam, keep wearing it and buying it. This is directed to guys who aren’t regular wearers of classic underwear.

My definition of classic underwear is Fuller cut, such as briefs, trunks and boxer briefs, in black, white, grey, or navy blue in color. Subtle waistband, good fabric and designed well. This is not the big box six packs. Just well-made underwear with a more conservative look.

Take a few minutes to partake in our poll. We will reveal the results later this week.

There are two things I love. The first is the original Bike Jockstrap and the second is Jockstrap Central’s, Model Trent. He has been a favorite of mine for years. In recent years he’s been on the site less and less. Like all good things, all things must come to an end eventually. But, here is a gallery of pics of him in the jock. This is what Jockstrap Central says:

They’re back and Trent’s Back! It’s the original Bike Performance Jockstraps now being manufactured by Meyer (the original European Bike distributor) both in 2 inch versions as well as swimmers in all the original colors. And who else to come in to model these awesome jocks but fan favorite and fitness guru Trent? Afterall, he was the original model for most of the old Bike Performance jockstraps.

Not everyone is into wearing a costume out on Halloween. I know that’s shocking to some! If you are this kind of guy but still want to wear some fun undies, we have you covered. Literally! There are some awesome Halloween themed pairs of underwear to show your spirit for a select few or more! Here is only a sampling of the pairs.

aussieBum Boo Range

assiebum says this about the seasonal pairs. “New BOO from aussieBum. This spooktacular undies range will have you screaming all the way through the Halloween season. Be afraid, be very afraid as this limited edition run will sell out fast. Custom engineered in three bone-chillingly bold colours, BOO is out now!” Available in a trunk and brief.

Go Softwear Cobweb

Looking for something a little more revealing? The GO Softwear Cobweb range features the wicked cobweb print. The fabric is mesh that teases who ever you choose! GO Softwear says this about the bikini: “Get ready for one of the biggest parties of the year and look SPOOKTACULAR! The HARD CORE mesh bikini with its creepy cobweb pattern is the perfect ensemble for any HALLOWEEN costume!” Available in the Cobweb Bikini, Cobweb Square-cut, Cobweb Meggings, Cobweb Tee, and Cobweb Singlet

Andrew Christian Halloween

Andrew Christian has a few pairs available for Halloween. It’s not a costume but can be for a special night with your significant other. Unlike the other brands, there isn’t a specific line in AC. One pair is the Master & Slave brief.

These two are Almost Naked Briefs with Master or Slave on the back! This can be for a ghoulish night at home together with all the whips and chains. Or it can be part of a costume to be worn out! I would only recommend that for the exhibitionists out there!

Be Classy in the Andrew Christian Tuxedo Brief. Have the classiest underwear at the party you are attending. It can be under any costume! I would def recommend this pair for your private party!

We hope you will get some Halloween themed undies! They can be fun and festive

Hi, guys, it’s Underweardude, back again with another look into the underwear drawers of the internet. Today’s drawer is from yet another UNB writer, The Bottom Drawer! Here is what he has to say:

As you can see from the photo, my drawer is not neat at all. It doesn’t mean there is absolutely no organization to it. I use to fold my underwear and at least stacked them in the drawer. Then I got married and had kids so taking time to fold undies went out the door.

When I did an organization post for my blog I attempted to make my drawer neater. See photo below. The photo doesn’t have all my pairs in the drawer but shows my feeble attempt at some order. What I’ve found from my organization attempts is none of them really helped me find the pair I was looking for. You’d think by the picture of the neat drawer I would be able too. Part of this is probably due to having close to 200 pairs now. Then there is the problem of not keeping the drawer that neat too.

Now I do try to keep a bit of order in the drawer most of the time. I keep pairs that are older or don’t care too much about to one side. These I wear for things like yard work or exercising that can be harder on a pair. The other side for newer pairs and ones I want to keep in decent shape longer. So far all my underwear fits in one drawer, due to them being bikinis and thongs. I’m actually planning on trying to do a purge of the drawer. There are pairs I don’t wear and probably will never wear again that I should stop storing. I’m sure there are some in there that should be retired too.e

I’m hoping the show us your drawer series that Underweardude came up with will give me ideas on improving the messy drawer I have. Maybe with doing an underwear purge and some new organization ideas, it will improve my ability to find the pair I’m looking for quicker. At least when I am actually looking for a particular pair. Come join in on showing us your drawer by emailing us at info@underwearnewsbriefs.com and use Drawer in the subject line. I look forward to reading everyone’s submissions.

We got a chance to ask the PetitQ boys some questions about their brand and new collection. We hope you enjoy

You guys have been releasing a lot more collections this year. Why have you been putting out collections about every two months?

We release 8 collections a year in the US and even more in Europe. Starting next week, we will have new products every week on our European website. Now that we have our own sewing shop, it’s easier to release new products. We have so many ideas coming that 2 collections a year was not enough. I also think that the market has changed and online, people want to see new stuff all the time and not many brands are capable of doing it.

The new collection just released has some really sexy lace pairs. How do you transform a feminine fabric into something masculine?

I think that lace trend for men came from Europe where people take more risks and don’t care as much about what masculine should look like and you don’t need to be masculine to be a man. We have customers buying sexy lace thongs telling us their female sex partners love it. Lace is actually very comfortable and brings some softness. You can go 2 ways with lace. You can be very feminine with floral patterns, knots, bikini cuts. Or you can make it more masculine by using lace fabrics with more geometrics patterns and use it for men cuts. To make it look even more masculine, we like to mix it with a harder fabric like pleather like fabrics. This hard and soft mix gives a masculine refinement look.

Producing pairs with cutouts has been one of the signatures of PetitQ, You have a lot more pairs with cutouts? What inspires you to create these pairs?

We do have a lot of cut-outs. In the front, in the back, on the sides. Everywhere. But actually, we rarely sketch products with cut-outs. But then when we try the prototypes, we’re like: ‘this should be open here’. We know some people don’t understand why an underwear should be open but it’s usually here to make the visible parts looking better and take all the attention. Trust us, people will look at your cut out and not at the few extra pounds you haven’t lost yet. Maybe we also have a butt fetish 😉

I love the new Harness in the collection. Especially the red are we going to see more designs featuring harnesses?

Yes, we are going to see more harnesses coming. Honestly, we didn’t see that coming. We used to have many harnesses when we first launched in the US 5 years ago. It’s not easy to make harnesses size wise. You don’t want to have the elastics lose nor look like a roast beef. It took a while for us to be ready to do them by ourselves but now we have a whole collection ready and in production. It was pretty logical to make harnesses, many customers wear our underwear for parties and harnesses are like underwear for your chest, it’s here to show your body and show what you want 😉

You guys also wear your own underwear. I see you posting pictures in the gear online. Do you each have a favorite pair from the new collection?

Yes, we have to wear our underwear. Even though we try the underwear on us when we do the samples, there are things you only realize when you’ve been wearing your underwear all day. It’s also like this that we find new ideas.

Arthus’ favorite is the Redon Brief, the one with the leather-like fabric and lace. The design on the back is really sexy and show just enough of skin

My favorite is the Corlier, it’s like a boxer but open on the back and sides. It also has that balance between the soft lace and the strong leather-like fabric. The pouch is not attached at anything under, like a slingshot, and I like that kind of pouches.

Why should guys wear PetitQ?

If you want something different, playful and of good quality, you should definitely try some PetitQ. We have over 200 different designs, there will always be one that fits you. We really work around the male’s body.

It takes a lot to impress me in the world of underwear. After 9 years of doing a blog, I have seen a lot of things. This past weekend I was in Dallas, Texas visiting friends. I got the chance to go to Skivvies in Dallas with long time reader and contributor Osgon. It was great to meet up with him and hang out. We did brunch and headed to Skivvies.

We brunched close to the store, so we walked to go shopping. I wasn’t sure where we were going at first. We entered the store, and it’s the largest underwear store I have ever shopped. They really impressed me big time. Salvatore had visited over a year ago and wrote up his impression.

Upon walking in you are greeted with a wall of Skivvies underwear. Beyond that they have it set up by brands. The brands that they had were massive. You about name it, and they had it. And they had a new brand that I hadn’t heard of called Perseus.

The lower level has two three rooms. The main one has all the underwear. One room, to the right, has the more adult stuff. Including Nasty Pig and Maskulo! Skivvies is the first store I have seen the Russian brand sold!

Then there is a back room with more underwear and some clearance. But the motherload was upstairs in their clearance loft. They had a massive amount of underwear, swimwear and more. I picked up a pair of Mundo Unico Briefs and Ergowear X3D Bikini. Both pairs were on clearance. I wish I had picked up the Obviously and a few more pairs. I was like a kid in a candy store. My friends who I went to visit didn’t get the whole underwear thing. Osgon and I had to inform them.

If I lived in Dallas, I would be in this store weekly to see what’s new. Now I know why people have raved on this store for so many years. It’s an underwear lovers dream! I guarantee you will walk out with a few pairs! And be just like me and wish you picked up even more!

A new brand I discovered this weekend was Perseus Underwear. You will hear more about that adventure in a post later today. This is what they say about their brand

Perseus Underwear is an innovative brand inspired by Perseus.  In Greek mythology, Perseus was a hero who was half-mortal and half-God, son of the god Zeus and the mortal Danae.  In our perspective, Perseus represents strength, masculinity, tenacity, virility, fortitude, courage; virtues that we want to emphasize in the men who use our garments, externalizing their inner strength and their capacity of seduction.

Check out the entire collection at the Perseus Underwear site.
