modus-vivendi-underwear-fisherman-02Modus Vivendi has always had a really interesting design sense. They have always said they were influenced by their Greek Heritage. We wanted to ask them some questions about some of the more iconic lines they have released over the years.

Interview with Christos Bibitsos

Tell me something about how your Greek heritage has influenced your designs over the last few years?

The truth is that we are very much in touch with our ancient culture, as Greeks. That has been true since the company began. Ancient Greek culture prized the male body highly. You can see it in sculpture, ancient athleticism and Greek art. It’s one of the main guides in every project we do.

Which of the many Modus Vivendi lines has been most memorable for you, most creative. ‘The Fisherman’, maybe?

There are many interesting designs, really. The most special, the most idiosyncratic? In our Original Collection, I think. But all our projects are all unique. That is what distinguishes us from other brands.

The photographic work seems styled to each collection. Is that a result of collaboration with the photographer on each individual campaign? Or do you allow the photographers freedom to achieve their own creative vision?

First of all, I think it’s wonderful that photographers across the globe have been inspired by our intentions and have given so much of their talent, taking each shoot in a definite direction, while still respecting the basic idea, the basic feel that inspired the design of the line. Every photographer needs his freedom, and this adds to the diversity of our campaigns to date.

Of all the photoshoots, which has been your favourite?

Ah, every one is special, for its own reasons. One particular campaign that represented Modus Vivendi’s style especially well was the retrospective of traditional Greek occupations, ‘Retro Greece’. Winegrower, woodcutter, innkeeper, stable hand, those gave us some great images.

Which are some of the most memorable pieces of underwear from your collections. The leather jock with the chains for example… any others?

I’ve said it many times, but each item in a collection has its own story, an inspiration a moment. But if I had to mention one, the Sumo Brief, or maybe the Converter Boxer. They are so unique. They can be transformed, changed, and this is perhaps a unique aspect of Modus Vivendi.

Some of the latest collections have a more mainstream design aesthetic. Are we going to see more designs that could be considered more ‘fashion’, like The Fisherman? 

Your favourite Fisherman is one of my favourites too. Sometimes a look like that can be the basis of an entire collection, as it was for the Leather Look collection. Modus Vivendi is a fashion forward brand and probably always will be. It’s about diversity, and its addressed to people who appreciate that, whether or not they’re on the same wavelength. Over time, our customers have become more insistent about our adding some more mainstream lines to our collections. This way we can address men’s everyday needs in quality underwear. First and foremost, we are a Greek brand. We manufacture exclusively in Greece, using predominantly Greek raw materials. We have some of the best cotton in the world here. If we use it well, we can create some of the best classic cotton underwear there is.

 

 

mv-transparent-line-conseptual-photos-withlogo-1With a new, super sexy line of dark mesh underwear, Modus Vivendi continues with its presentation of the many new lines for its fall/winter 2016-17 collection. The Transparent Line is a combination of strength and sensuality. Self-possessed and subtly erotic, the new briefs, boxers, tanks and tees come in three colourways of black, dark red or blue with black mesh panels. Jocks are presented in uniform colour with matching mesh waistbands. The designs sculpt the hips, buttocks and shoulders, carving strong lines that meet with concealing linings and pouches, an exercise in revelation and the balance of power.

The campaign for the line was created in Leicester, England. Talented photographer and fine artist Gavin Harrison was inspired by the moody impact of the line to build a Dark Circus themed photo shoot, with the ultra-masculine Matthew Blades and Perrie Hooper as his male protagonists. The studio was transformed into an eerie circus of mystery and atmosphere. Seductive and very masculine, the images showcase the daring new designs from Modus Vivendi at their best.

mv-indigo-line-conseptual-photos-withlogo-4A new line in Modus Vivendi’s fall/winter 2016-17 collection has just been officially released! Modus Vivendi’s new Indigo Line is a collection of innovative men’s underwear and athleisure that’s perfect for the coming season.

The line features a subtle combination of two top-quality fabrics. Indigo denim and perforated leather look panels are meticulously combined to create strong, warm designs that are tipped to become best sellers. The underwear is in four distinctive styles: low cut briefs, backless briefs, jockstraps and boxer briefs. The athleisure segment of the line comprises a stylish tanktop, unique reversible pants and a hoodie. All the essentials!

The photographic campaign was created in San Onofre, California. Modus Vivendi again called on the highly talented American photographer Tom Cullis, who created some very powerful images inspired by the fabrics of the line and the indigo dyeing process. Up and coming model Robert Barker presents the new designs in this dramatic, masculine and sexy campaign. We hope you like as much as we do!

This technology combats bacteria and so diminishes body odour, keeping you fresher for longer. Intriguing, visually enchanting, Crisol’s images capture the fresh feel of the fabric and the super comfortable cuts. modusvivendi_atlas-campaign-4A new men’s underwear line has just been released by Modus Vivendi. The new line is called Lacenet and is made from Italian, semi-transparent and incredibly sexy fabrics. The Lacenet line comprises low cut briefs, backless briefs and brazil cut boxers and is available in a limited run. Modus Vivendi offers this underwear in two different fabrics, black and white, each in an original floral pattern combined with a matching, dense fishnet, waist. The items are handcrafted and contoured to fit perfectly the male form.

The conceptual campaign takes inspiration from the Greek mythology and more specifically from Atlas, a symbol of masculinity, strength, and endurance. Model Theodoros Karvouniaris is seen carrying on his shoulders a world made of lace, a play on the endurance of the fabric and the masculine styles of the Lacenet line. The photo shoot took place in the studio of Modus Vivendi and was photographed by the talented team of P2Photography.

This line is the Neon Athletic comprising swim briefs and swim trunks in sporty cuts and vibrant colours. In the campaign images photographed by P2Photography in Greece we see model Alexandros Kaltsidis putting the swimwear to the test during a workout by the beach. The campaign presents the masculine character and bright colours of this stunning line in the best way possible. Alexandros, looking great as always, was the perfect choice for this campaign.

This line is part of the extensive collection the brand has released this year and it is a celebration of colour and diversity! The campaign for this line was shot in Cuba by charismatic Kevin Slack. With three models on his side Randy, Jose Alejandro and Hector the great photographer captured in the best way possible the vibrant colours of this line and its confident and sexy feel.

The stunning campaign images of Modus Vivendi’s Wide Line were captured in rural Australia by one of the best Australian photographers, Russell Fleming. Well known for its natural beauty, a location near Brisbane was chosen by the photographer as a backdrop for his session with model Daniel Kairouz. Fleming produced a shoot full of masculinity which ideally suits this line.

Sand beige and light grey. These are the two dominant colours of the new Wide Line released by Modus Vivendi, part of the brand’s extensive spring-summer 2016 collection. This line comprises masculine underwear designs in three styles, tanktops and a unique multi-shirt! The underwear comes in briefs, boxer-briefs and jockstraps featuring striped and solid, earth tone panels, shiny waistbands and a supreme quality, viscose blend fabric. The tanktops have a Modus Vivendi classic muscle tanktop cut and feature a striped front and a solid colour, t-shaped back. The multi-shirt of this line is a unique, fashion forward creation by Christos Bibitsos of an all weather men’s shirt. It comes with extra pairs of sleeves which you can attach to the neck to transform it from a sleeveless to a short or long sleeve shirt. It’s pretty amazing!

One of the main trends in Modus Vivendi’s Spring/Summer 2016 collection is the return of stripes. The Greek underwear and menswear brand has just released a new line that features stripes combined with neon accents. The new Narrow Line comprises four styles of underwear and some great looking T-Shirts to wear them with! The underwear styles are briefs, mini briefs, boxer briefs and jockstraps, all of which are available in three colourways, with thin black and white stripes as the base and vibrant, neon waists and trim. 

The campaign photographs were shot in the dunes of Pinamar in Argentina by one of today’s hottest South American photographers, Gastohn Barrios. The campaign presents a nautical theme and the sexy sailor on shore leave is portrayed by model Daian Zubieta.

The new Flamme Line is as hot as it sounds! Four different styles of underwear, playful tanktops and classy shirts made from an extremely soft and lightweight, semi-transparent fabric in three colour tones. The fabric is made in France, rayon based and features a sexy play on transparency with a burnout look.
The highly artistic, conceptual campaign was photographed in Greece by P2Photography. The dramatic and powerful images feature model Alexios Charistos in the new items by Modus Vivendi and a blazing sky taking a leading role.

Showing a great passion for men’s fashion, Modus Vivendi releases two original lines from its extensive swimwear collection for 2016. The first is called Contrast and features swimwear designs handcrafted with fabrics of the same colour but different finish. Mat and shiny panels are mixed to create a fresh take on classic swim briefs and swim trunks styles. The second line is called Towel and comprises shorts made from towelling and the unique beach towels by Modus Vivendi. The shorts are in a retro style with deep curved, sexy sides and the original towels feature buttons which can transform them into a very practical and stylish men’s pareo. Both, shorts and towels, are available in four colours and four sizes.

The campaign of these new lines takes place in Greece, the home of Modus Vivendi. Greek models Sotiris Thomaidis and Alexandros Kaltsidis pose on the sunny beach photographed by the talented team of P2Photography. The heart warming images have references to the half mat, half shiny look of the Contrast swimwear and the relaxed and confident style of the Towel line.

Men’s underwear and swimwear brand Modus Vivendi has just released the new images of it’s Neon underwear line. Bursting with colour, this line comprises tank tops, low cut briefs, briefs, boxers and jockstraps offering sexy and classic looks, made from the highest quality materials. The briefs, boxers and jocks come in three colour combinations, blue, grey and fuchsia perfectly combined with contrasting neon waistbands decorated with a new sporty Modus Vivendi logo label in the middle. The low cut briefs and tank tops are in solid neon fuchsia, aqua or yellow hues.

Photographer and fine artist Gavin Harrison has successfully fulfiled the task to shoot this line in the best way possible. His arousing photos show model Chris Artemiou posing in Modus Vivendi playing with strong colours, lights and neon signs in his studio in Leicester. A job very well done by Harrison and Artemiou who captured the sensual and classy character of this line perfectly!

The first of many exciting new lines is called Neon and comprises men’s swimwear in four distinctive styles to suit every taste: briefs, brazil cut boxers, boxer briefs and boxer shorts. All four styles come in three vibrant colours: neon aqua, neon fuchsia and neon yellow. Setting the trends this summer, Modus Vivendi’s Neon Line, stands for eye catching colours in classic swimwear styles.
The official campaign for this line was photographed by P2Photography in Chalkidiki, a beautiful region of Northern Greece known for its stunning beaches and breathtaking landscapes. Model Sotiris Thomaidis was called upon to pose in the new Neon Swimwear and the shots, we think, are amazing!

MV-HOLE LINE - Conseptual Logo (1)Innovation meets comfort. This could be a very short description of the new Hole Line by Modus Vivendi. The third line of its extensive Spring-Summer 2016 collection and certainly one of the most sexy and innovative released from the Greek brand this year. The Hole line comprises men’s underwear, tank tops and singlets in highly fashionable and modern styles in two colours, white and grey. Cut outs, press studs and cod pieces are just a few of the design details which make this collection really stand out.

An innovative line such as the Hole Line by Modus Vivendi couldn’t come without a stunning campaign. Visionary photographer Joan Crisol was the perfect choice for the brand to shoot the campaign in Madrid. Dancers and models Davide Zongoli and Elihu Arcopom are photographed into the streets of the busy capital performing their best street dancing moves.

15.MV - Earth Line  - Conseptual With LogoThe second new line of Modus Vivendi Spring-Summer 2016 collection has just been released. The line is called Earth Line and comprises underwear and t-shirts in two earthy colours: grey and brown. The underwear of this line comes in three distinctive cuts: briefs, boxers and jockstraps. The two colours are natural dyes and are combined perfectly with metallic silver or gold elasticated waistbands and lighter colour design accents.

The new line’s inspiration is expressed through the brand’s new campaign. The concept is spring’s symbolism of renewal and rebirth. The brand’s optimistic attitude goes one step further with the inclusion of their best selling, and restocked, shiny Metallic underwear in this shoot. Model Alexios Charistos was not afraid to get dirty for the needs of this campaign photographed by P2Photography! The photos, we think, are amazing!
