Pistol Pete has a very big swimwear collection, what has been some of the inspirations for coming up with them?
In each collection, we research fashion trends from all over the world.  We strive to cover the full spectrum of styles and fabrications.  Each collection offers a variety of sporty, retro, and classic looks.

Belts have been big in this collection what made you include them on suits?
Pistol Pete’s signature style is the belted swimsuit.  We have always been incredibly fond of vintage looks from the 30’s, 40’s, and 50’s and we wanted to bring that clean sophistication from those eras into each collection.

What suits have been your best sellers so for this season?
Without a doubt, our belted suits such as the Nouveau, Titan, Cruise, and Aviator.   In addition, our sporty swimsuits such as the All Star Lace Ups and Jock color block suits are big hits.

What should guys look for when buying new swimwear for this year?
Unique pieces, colors, and prints that truly convey their own style.   The colors/prints, as well as, the length of a swimsuit says a lot about a person’s personality.

Are there trends you are seeing in swimwear this year and into next year?
Colorful plaid prints.   And swimwear with clever accents such as hardware, charms, pipings, and zippers.

This past Magic you did a really fun show with instinct magazine, Are we going to see something fun in August just as fun?
Pistol Pete is sponsoring Temptation Sundays Pool Parties at the Luxor Las Vegas all summer.  Each week, the crowd will pick their favorite swimsuit hottie who will be photographed in a Pistol Pete swimsuit and placed online at instinctmagazine.com for everyone to checkout.  On Sunday, August 19 (at the kickoff to August Magic), all the weekly winners will participate in a Pistol Pete fashion show at the Luxor Temptation Sunday Pool Party.  A judge from Pistol Pete, Instinct Magazine, and The Luxor Las Vegas will select one winner who will win various trips, prizes, and a chance of becoming the gay model for Luxor’s gay marketing campaigns.

Firs thing I have to do before we get into the guide is thank the awesome sponsors above! Pistol Pete – Gold Sponsor, Clever/Vuthy & Croota – Silver Sponsors and Good Boy Gone Bad and UnderGear as Bronze sponsors! Without them this guide would not have taken place. Next, I have to thank our photographer Brian from Seven Continents Photography and our Models Cody, Christian and Juan. Our sponsors allowed us for the first time to hire models and do a shoot all ourselves. It is a big learning process and things had bumps (models falling out the week before), but we carried on and pushed forward. We think we did a great job for our first attempt and we will learn more each time!

We had over 60 suits and a full day by the lake and then a re-shoot by a pool this past weekend. It has been a blast and I hope you enjoy this guide and it helps you get some great swimsuits this year! Our Models are Cody, Juan and Christian. Please check out our Videos on YouTube Enjoy the Guide! BTW, don’t forget to check individual size charts!

We hope you enjoy this guide for swimwear for summer! Watch over the next few days for exclusive Brief Distractions from some of our Sponsors. Remember please check each company’s sizing charts, because they differ from company to company.

As we have said this will be swim week on UNB. Our Swimwear Guide coming out later this week! We will show you some of the best swimwear out for the season. This is the Pistol Pete Titan Midcut swim trunk. This pair has a retro styling that is a throw back to the 60’s. Yet, its still very modern. It very much reminds me of a “James Bond” suit. Similar to the one that Daniel Craig wore in the first Bond movie he filmed.

This just is a really fun suit. It’s great to see companies like Pistol Pete doing innovative work in men’s swimwear. No longer are we just limited to board shorts and swim briefs!

  • Available in blue/white and blue khaki
  • 92% Nylon, 8% Spandex
  • Belt is included

You can find this pair at the Pistol Pete site for $44.

Yesterday we shot the 2012 UNB Swimwear Guide. We did it just outside Atlanta on a lake and had three models. It was a busy day but a really fun day. We started the day around 7 am and didn’t finish until 4 PM. It will be out in the next week or so. Unfortunately Ben the model form last year wasn’t in it but, we got some great ones you will like.

There is nothing more patriotic than an all American made piece of underwear that only comes in red, white and blue. There is also nothing more patriotic than a great 97% Cotton 3% Spandex jock strap that just screams “please wear me on the playing field.” This strap from Pistol Pete is a true jock that is meant for its purpose, support and comfort!

Wearing this piece for a full day was not as great as I had hoped, however. It is a great piece minus the slight roll which the pouch edge seems to do occasionally. This role causes the sharp edge of the pouch (a striking design from a visual standpoint) to cut into the inner thigh. Once laid back flat, however, the piece returns to its wonderful comfort.

This piece provides comfort, sex appeal, support, and a striking image. Though it may only come in a few colors, it is packed with possibilities. This is a piece of underwear for the American athlete in all of us. A definite must for any playing field. Buy one for the low price of only $18 and play ball!

We are gearing up for Swim season (and yes pun is intended). UnderGear has released the new BodyTech Swim Collection for 2012. The new line mixes classic board shorts with swim briefs, so no matter which style you like you will be able to find something!

This is what UnderGear had to say about the collection. “We’re proud to announce the launch of our new Body Tech swimwear line, available online now! For years we’ve carried the Body Tech underwear and apparel line at UnderGear. Noted for bold underwear designs, Body Tech takes the plunge into designer men’s swimwear with these fashionable board shorts, swim briefs, and swim trunks featuring an eye-catching line up of engineered stripes.”

  • Tim in the Body Tech® Home Run Swim Short (green short with multi-stripe waist band, pictured above, also top row left)
  • Broderick in Body Tech® Angra Swim Squarecut (orange short with white drawstrings, pictured above, second row left)
  • Tim in the Body Tech® Classico Swim Trunk (navy short with side stripe, top row middle)
  • Will in Body Tech® Brasilia Swim Brief (top row on right)
  • Taylor in Body Tech® Surfista Board Short (white short with multi-stripe, Second row on right)

You can find these and many more suits at the UnderGear website!

When you ask about the perfect swimwear, you don’t think of a Canadian company for Swimwear. However, Skmpeez came onto the men’s swimwear scene in 2008. “SKMPEEZ was launched by two best friends in the summer of 2008. One, a designer, the other a businessman both with a love for fun in the sun and traveling.”

It’s been over a year since we saw the last line for Skmpeez, and they have come back into the swimwear scene andd also released underwear!  The current swimwear line consists of:

  • Bandz – swimbriefs
  • Eruoz – a cross between swim briefs and Square Cut
  • Squarez – square cut
  • Shortz – swim shorts.

You maybe asking why should you wear Skmpeez? You should if you love different and original swimwear. These suits are not in solids or stripes. They have bold designs and bright colors. Each different styles have designs with a few carry over designs. One in almost every collection pays homage to the Canadian heritage with the Canuck, a take on the Canadian flag.

We can’t go into all the styles here but make sure you go over to the Skmpeez site to check them all out!

I know spring is approaching because I always see more and more swimwear released. 2(x)ist has released its first line of swimwear. These are currently only available at the 2(x)ist site and Bloomingdale’s.  The new swimwear consists of Core, Neon, Seersucker, Sport, Stripe and (X)-Print. Styles in these lines consist of Rio (Swimsuit), Bondi (Racing Suit), Cabo (Square Cut), Ibiza, Hampton (both swim shorts) and Maui (Board Short). These are currently only available at the 2(x)ist site and Bloomingdale’s.

  • Core – Core is a line of solid colors in the styles mentioned above. Colors Available are Black, Lead, White, Classic Green, Peacock Blue, Victoria Blue, Estate Blue, Purple, Poppy Red, Vermillion Orange, and Fandango Pink
  • Neon – Is a line where “Body conscious cuts meet awesome color”. Styles available in this line are Hampton, Ibiza, Cabo and Rio. Colors are Black, Bright Green, Mediterranean Blue, Bright Purple, Yellow Zest and Orange
  • Seersucker – This isn’t your grandfathers Seersucker. This one is made for swimming and is very fast drying. The colors are a more pastel range. However, this is the first time I’ve seen a Seersucker Bikini. Styles available are Hampton, Ibiza, Cabo and Rio. Colors Available are Classic Green, Cobalt, Mediterranean Blue, and Vermillion Orange
  • Sport – 2(x)ist went “old school” on this pair. These will take you back with a retro inspired board short. Only available in the Maui. Colors Available are White, Classic Green, Estate Blue and Poppy Red
  • Stripe – Are you a stripe fan? It seems to be one of the trends for the year in both swimwear and underwear. Styles available are Hampton, Ibiza, Cabo and Rio. Colors available are Surf Strip, Sailor Navy Stripe, and Victoria Blue Stripe
  • (x)-Print – You maybe asking what the (x)-print is? Well, it’s a print inspired by the x in the name! They have created their own signature pattern to use in swimwear. Styles available are Hampton, Ibiza, Cabo and Rio. Colors available are Black, Estate Blue, Mediterranean Blue, and Poppy Red.

These styles range in price from $75 to $125. They have just been released and ready for sale on the 2(x)ist site. Go check out all the new styles and I recommend looking at the Seersucker! To see examples of the styles click below
