This was a brief that I wanted as soon as Tim sent me the Clever Spring ’13 catalog. Clever was another brand that I hadn’t previously owned, so I was anxious to receive this, wear and review it.

The brief I am reviewing is the Desire Latin Brief. The “Latin Brief” is a name given to Clever’s most popular brief design, and because the company is based out of Central America. The  “Latin Brief” seems to be aptly applied. While Clever has a reputation for size fluctuation based on design, this XL pair (36-38) fits my 37″ waist fairly well, but they certainly don’t run big.

These briefs are made from 92% sheer nylon and 8% spandex. The cut of these briefs is somewhere between a traditional “boxy” cut and a bikini cut, not super high-rise but certainly not uniform either. The pouch is fairly contoured but not majorly so, and I prefer a larger contoured pouch generally.

These briefs are much more comfortable than I thought they might be. The sheer nylon is very wearable and the logo waistband sits nicely on the waist without any pinching or binding. Additionally, the elastic outlining the brief is very sturdy and “frames” the wearer in flattering ways, which I appreciate.

Style-wise these briefs are certainly out there. These come in two colors, black and white and I would say they are about 98% sheer with only a horizontal pattern among the nylon to “distract.” If you want to equate sexiness with style then these knock it out of the park. I tend to grade on how the cut of the brief looks on me when they are worn, not just the visual aesthetics, though I like the contrasting gold waistband with the black nylon, and I also like the silver waistband on the white version. I wish they had offered this in the color scheme of another pair in the collection of a nautical blue with a gold waistband

On the whole I think Clever really does well with the Desire Latin Brief, and I look forward to exploring more of their collection.

Pros:

  • Good Fit

  • Not for the everyday gentleman

Clever furnished this pair for review.

I always get excited to review underwear and I was even more excited when I heard I’d be getting to review the Cocksox CX03 Waistband Brief. If you know me by now, I am not shy with the underwear I wear. However, I get concerned about certain brands and how I perceive they might fit me and Cocksox was one of those brands. For that reason I am glad to have my first pair from the brand and  just may have to explore what else Cocksox has to offer.

The pair of briefs I received in the mail was size L (36-38) and the pair fit my 36” waist very well.  They are made from 92% “Supplex” (Cocksox’s choice microfiber) and 8% Lycra elastane.  These really are a “bikini” cut rather than a more traditional brief and while you get pretty much 100% rear coverage the side of your bum is more exposed than with similar cuts from other brands.

I put them through a day’s worth of wear and they held up pretty well. I am a fan of briefs with a built in pouch, and Cocksox seems to have been in that market for quite some time.  Their pouch really does bring you “out and up” and as someone who is already subconscious about the size of my bulge, wearing these to work was a bit of a decision, but I decided to throw caution to the wind, as it were.

I am getting pretty good at “judging books by their cover” when it comes to shopping online and looking at pictures, and I must say the one issue I thought I would have with these. While the pouch is shaped to “lift” my anatomy doesn’t really “do” that easily so the pouch at times would become uncomfortable and cramped. It wasn’t so bad that I wanted them off, (I wore them until bed time) but they didn’t have the comfort I was hoping for, either.

Style-wise these briefs hit the right notes. I think a bikini cut is naturally more stylish than a basic style, and the neon green definitely stands out. I also appreciate that Cocksox has gotten away from their niche a bit, and ventured the world of the logo waistband. My wife’s reaction was “whoa” when I got them on—though she is an impossible read when it comes to the underwear I wear.

In the end, the Cocksox CX03 Waistband Brief is a really decent brief and I was pleasantly surprised and how well they fit overall. Though the contour of the bulge could be a bit bigger, or more forgiving, I think my main issue is that it is something I just am not used to with any other pair I own. I’d say if you’re a fan of the brand’s thong or original brief, you should give these a try. Be careful though, one thing is for sure with these briefs, which doesn’t stray from the brand’s overall design concept, you may need to be a bit less-than modest to wear these on a daily basis.

Pros:

  • Good Fit
  • Super supportive
  • Breathable
  • Stylish

Cons:

  • Unforgiving pouch
  • Not for the bashful

Cocksox furnished these for review. You can find them on the Cocksox website.

I was super excited to receive a Male Power Herringbone Jock to review.  I’ve never purchased any of their underwear, and I always love trying out different brands.  I tend to wear briefs and jocks in all sorts of colors and cuts daily, so it’s not really a stretch for me to wear something that might be a little more flashy on occasion.

Male Power is known in the industry for creating sexy underwear for men.  This includes cotton briefs, mesh jocks, silk thongs, and everything in between.  The Herringbone is one of their newest collections. It has a super soft crocheted pattern that offers just a glimpse at what is underneath.  I decided to wear the jock on my day off while I was running errands.  As soon as I put it on, I realized that this jock seemed more like a jock I would wear to get things going in the bedroom more than one I would wear all day.  The pouch is shaped well but doesn’t offer much support, as the material has a lot of give.  And the straps are extremely thin and also don’t offer much support in the rear.  A couple of times throughout the day I found myself thinking I may as well have gone commando.

This jock is 85% nylon, 15% spandex.  The pouch is created with a 4-way stretch herringbone crochet that is super soft against the skin and is available in red, black, and nude.  My thoughts are that the sizing created the lack of support.  The jock is available in sm/med and lg/xl.  I have a 30-inch waist, which puts me right in the middle of their sm/med sizing.  So while the waist is comfortable, overall the jock proves to be slightly too big for me.

Modus Vivendi is an exciting company from Greece with a wonderful website and fantastic products!  While there is a large selection of all types of underwear, most of the pairs are fashioned after the Greek gods with several styles representing each god.  I found each god to have an exciting selection of underwear, but the Zeus jockstrap caught my eye from the beginning.  Without hesitation, it was the one I had to try!

The Zeus Natural jockstrap comes in a natural coloring with extraordinary touches.  The waistband is approximately 3.5 inches in width and is very comfortable and slightly stretchy.  Along the front of the waistband and above the pouch is a piece of brown leatherlike material.  This adds to the design and brings just the right touch to make the jockstrap more earthy in conjunction with the natural coloring.  On the back of the waistband is a piece of fabric that has a hand drawing of Zeus on it.  The leg bands are the same nautral coloring as the waistband and the pouch and are pieces of rope that have knots tied in them where they join the waistband.  This was an exciting touch to an already great pair of underwear.  The same leatherlike piece of material is on the bottom of the pouch and fits comfortalby behind your package with the rope leg straps threaded through it.  The comfortable and ample pouch is a ribbed pouch that is pieced together with an exposed seam.  It seems everything that went into designing and making this pair of underwear was thought out thoroughly.

The fabric is 94% Cotton, and 6% Elastane.  This selection of materials created a slightly stretchy fabric, but one that holds its shape and molds to the body.  The leg openings were perfectly sized with adjustable rope legsstraps.  Overall, I was pleased with the fit, but with all European undies, you may want to order one size up or refer to their sizing chart to find your perfect fit.

I wore this on standard days of general daily activity and shopping.  This jockstrap was very comfortable and felt perfect against my body with no tightness issues.  The fabric was soft with a nicely sized waistband width for a jockstrap.  My khaki pants and my jeans had no issue with clinging to the undies or pulling at them during the day due to the fabric.  Modus Vivendi has these on their website for the cost of $44.67.  Now, this is rather pricey for most of us, but it is worth the cost!  I love this jockstrap and all of the Modus Vivendi products.  This jockstrap may be thought of as the prize piece in your collection, or a special occasion pair of underwear.  I can imagine someone wearing this to an underwear contest, underwear party, or club and totally having all the attention.

If you have been a long time reader of the blog you know that Cocksox is one of my favorite underwear brands. You may also know that I am not a fan of animal print, however, when I saw the new Carnivore line, I thought it could be really cool.  Go figure that I, the animal print hater, would really like the designs.

If you notice a theme here, this is my second jock that I have reviewed. You might say this is the year of the jock. It is also one of the few styles of Cocksox I had to yet to try, so I was super curious on how Cocksox would do a jock. They always have an amazing pouch in everything they do, so I hoped it would work on their jocks as well.

Saying this was a good jock is an understatement. It was amazing! I wanted to keep them on for a second day. They fit just right, the straps didn’t move or ride up and the pouch was perfection. I would say that this jock is the best pair of underwear that I’ve reviewed this year.  Keep an eye out for it on our Holiday Picks list!

If you want a jock that is functional and fun, I highly recommend this jock from Cocksox. I can see many of our readers wearing it to the gym and enjoying all of the looks they get!

Pro:

  • Really fun print and something out of the ordinary
  • Great fit and pouch

Con:

  • The only suggestion I have is make to make the waistband more interesting!

I’m all for trying new things—be it food, activities or in this case underwear—so I was extremely excited to hear that I was getting a g-string to review—something I have very little experience with (being that it’s outside my boxers and jocks world).  David and I opened our packages at the same time and we were less than enthused at the looks of our new arrivals. Both just seemed very bland.  Mine admittedly had a better shape to it than David’s and at least some semblance of style.  Maybe they’d be comfortable though?

I wasn’t so lucky.  The pouch is made from an 82% nylon 12% elastane blend which is normally a fantastic feeling fabric—very silky.  Unfortunately, it bunches and feels like it pinches the skin.  I wore it out to dinner and after returning home, found that the shape of the pouch had changed so that the sides were completely vertical and not covering everything that they should have been.  I’ve worn thongs before, and can quite enjoy the feeling of it riding up the crack, but this elastic band was very harsh and chafed, rather than feeling gentle up the back.

Available in two sizes (S/M and L/XL) at $9.95 from ABCunderwear.com it’s not a bad price, and the variety of colors is great but the comfort of the g-string and the lack of shape leave much to be desired.

Review by: Keith

The N2N Bodywear Odyssey Pouch Boxer in color Aluminum was an interesting pair of underwear to try.  I say that because I found the coloring on the Aluminum to be exciting and fresh, but the fabric to be entirely too stretchy.  I enjoyed the styling, but found the waistband to be a plain piece of white fabric.  So, this may be the most challenging review I have had the pleasure of writing.

I will offer a bit of advice, be careful while putting these on.  The first leg was fine, but my foot caught the stretchy leg of the second and I nearly killed myself falling over.  Go ahead and laugh; It is appropriate at this time.  After pulling this pair of underwear up and on, I had to actually reach into the front and put myself into the pouch because of the way it was placed and sewn on the front.  The crotch fit close and I noticed the seam in the back was enjoying its high positioning.

While wearing this pair of pouch boxers (fancy name for boxer brief I suppose), I went on my normal routine.  After teaching a couple of classes at the college, I found the underwear to be supportive and extremely comfortable.  The waistband, while plain except for a fabric N2N logo sewn on the front, was comfortable.  The leg length hit mid-thigh and was great.  The waistband sat below the waist and felt a little low when compared to other boxer briefs.

This pouch boxer is 90% Cotton and 10% Spandex.  This makes for a nice feel, but it was a bit stretchy before washing (after washing they fit much better and were true to size Large).  The leg length was perfect and the pouch ample (there will be no complaints from the above average crowd with this pouch).  Aluminum was the coloring I tried with each pouch boxer receiving their own special coloring due to the dyeing process.

The price, as listed on the N2N Bodywear website for the Odyssey Pouch Boxer is $22.  The price is just right for a specialty pair of underwear that you will not find anywhere else.  The construction is fantastic with nice stitching and perfect symmetry.  Overall, the N2N Bodywear Odyssey Pouch Boxer is a fairly nice pair of underwear and would be a nice addition to any underwear collection.

The N2N Bodywear Hula Boy X-Bikini swimwear in Black Lava has a great floral pattern in white, gray, and red on a black background.  This bikini has white stitching to add some flair to the waistband and seams.  Instead of having one piece of fabric running from front to back, this bikini has a separate pouch sewn into the fabric.  This is a great feature as I have found many bikini swimwear items to have an odd feel to them, but nothing odd here.  The fabric that runs through the crotch is slim at about two inches across to prevent bunching and pulling.

The pouch is ample and perfect for most guys.  The way it is sewn, it provides definition and lift to the front.  The seat covers perfectly and looks great.  There is a seam that runs between the cheeks to provide more definition to the rear and provides a little lift.

Construction of this bikini is 83% Nylon and 17% Polyester with no liner or draw cord.  The stitching is reinforced with the rear and the pouch to be sewn separately.[KN1]   There is a fabric N2N logo on the right side of the pouch.  Size Large was a great fit and was true to size.

The price, as listed on the N2N Bodywear website is $33. The price is a tad high for me, but this is for a specialty pair of bikini swimwear.  Overall, the N2N Bodywear Hula Boy X-Bikini swimwear in Black Lava is a perfect fit with perfect styling.

The N2N Bodywear Aqua Jock (SJ1) has to be the most erotic pair of swimwear I have ever had the chance of owning.  It simply cannot be described how great I felt wearing it.  It definitely makes a clear, concise statement about a guy that would wear this to the beach or pool.  To wear this jock is to wear it to entice. All attention will be on you when you wear it.  If you dare….

in the pair that I tried has a white waistband and pouch while the leg straps are turquoise and silver striped.  The white portions are extremely bright, the turquoise is vivid, and the silver is slightly muted, but not quite gray.  The leg straps hit below the cheeks and lift while staying put.  The waistband has a draw cord that looks really hot if you leave it untied as it is on the outside and not on the inside of the waistband.

This jock is 83% Nylon and 17% Spandex.  There is no liner in the jock, which makes the white slightly see through when wet, but not overly so.  The white is revealing, but feels extremely sexy against the skin.  The pouch is ample and covers perfectly.  The leg straps are about an inch and a quarter wide and comfortable.

The price, as listed at the time of this review on the N2N Bodywear website is $34.  The price is slightly high for a jock, but it is a specialty pair of swimwear that you will not find many companies creating.  The construction is fantastic with reinforced sewing and perfect positioning of the leg straps.  Overall, the N2N Bodywear Aqua Jock (SJ1) is simply amazing.

The Raider X G thong from N2N Bodywear is, at first glance, an interesting  thong.  The mesh look is very attractive, and the enhancing pouch does a great job “enhancing” (even if you don’t need any help with that).  The bright pink is a little bright, but I could see how it could be sexy.  If pink is not your thing, you at least have the ability to get the thong in white, black, or light blue.  The thong is an 86% nylon, 14% spandex blend which would be very comfortable if there were more slack in the thong part of the thong.

I decided to test-run the thong on a casual Friday at work (a desk job), which meant wearing them under a pair of jeans.  I managed half a work-day before I just had to take the thong off; it was that uncomfortable.  The fit in the waist was great, and I had no problem with the “enhancing” pouch.  The big problem was with the thong strap which loops under the butt.  It did not have enough slack to make wearing the thong for everyday wear all that comfortable.  At times the strap just tore into my but  and even made sitting very uncomfortable.  For short term use however, the Raider X G thong is a great thong with very sexy styling.

The Popsicle G is very similar in design and feel to its thong cousin, the Raider X G.  Like its cousin, the Popsicle G has a particular problem with its thong length.  The Popsicle G does for N2N’s swimwear what the Raider X G does for N2N’s thongs: it shows off the butt and “enhances” certain features (whether or not you need the “enhancing” in the first place).  The Popsicle G features slightly more nylon than the Raider X G(87% vs 86%) in the fabric blend (87% nylon, 17% spandex), but otherwise it feels just like the Raider down to the elastic waistband.  This includes the lack of slack in the thong part of the Popsicle. My pair was dark pink with yellow stenciling, though N2N does give you a choice of yummy colors including: raspberry, glacial blue, lime, orange, and lemon ice.

I had an opportunity to give the Popsicle G a thorough trial in a private, deserted pool, Which was a good thing since the Popsicle became so uncomfortable while swimming around that I opted to just take it off completely and swim naked.  Most of the irritation was from the lack of slack in the thong strap, which loops under the butt to join at the “enhancing” pouch in front.  If there was a little more give in the pouch, the Popsicle G would be really comfortable to wear while swimming, and I am certain that it would grab plenty of attention!

I love ingenuity in design and I love underwear. When I was doing my normal browse through “What’s New” online, I stumbled across one of the more unique designs I have seen lately—the K’Mando Strapless Pouch which I immediately purchased.

The K’Mando promised to feel like you were wearing nothing at all while worn under jeans or gym clothes. When I received my product in the mail I was severely disappointed. Upon inspection the K’Mando seemed to be a tiny sock like pouch with two metal snap buttons on the side to close. The fabric/material indeed also seemed like sock quality.

One advertised feature of the K’Mando was three separate compartments to “hold all your parts gently in place”. I still can only find one unless they are counting the tiny room in front and the barely noticeable seam on the bottom.

I just had to try this contraption on which was where my struggle began. Now I consider myself fairly average to slightly above in the size department and the K’Mando simply does not fit. It is available in one size and unless I spent an hour in a freezing pool of water, I doubt I would ever be able to get it to fit properly. The material did not stretch enough to accommodate much.

Normally I can find something I like in a product that isn’t my cup of tea, but I am sorely disappointed in this design. Hopefully a version 2.0 will be made and I can try again.

What are the words you would use to describe a pair of underwear you find incredibly sexy?  Whatever they may be, you will definitely use them to describe the N2N Black Bikini.  Black is the nickname for this particular line of N2N underwear and brings to mind a sleek, sexy look that is mimicked in the style and fabric.

The N2N Black Bikini is shiny, ultra soft and meant to enhance what you have up front with an ample pouch that stretches and fits like a glove.  The fabric is 80% Nylon and 20% Spandex.  The sides are approximately an inch wide at their smallest and the rear covers well.  There is a rubberized N2N logo on the back center seated directly below the waist.  The back of the bikini covers well and contours a bit as well.  From back to front, the pouch sits low and is meant to cover what you have up front and not much else.  The pouch is roomy and a nice size with the fabric allowing for plenty of stretch.

I wore these while driving two hours to work, working six and a half hours, a break at a local bar and driving home two more hours.  I wore these for a long day to see how they would hold up to everyday wear.  The fit was good, but I did feel a little warm throughout the day while wearing them.  The N2N Black Bikini may be best utilized as a pair of special underwear for dates, clubbing, etc.

The price, as listed on the N2N Bodywear website is $26.  So, the price is fairly reasonable for a specialty pair of underwear.  There are special instructions dealing with the care of the Black style:  *Chlorine, bleach, oil (lube, suntan lotion, baby oil, etc…) may break down the special matte coating of this novelty fabric.  I do not mind special instructions (cold wash and hang dry makes things last longer), but some guys would not want to take the time involved in special care instructions.

Overall, the N2N Black Bikini is sexy, hot, fun, exciting and thought invoking.  I thoroughly enjoyed this pair of N2N underwear and will definitely be saving them for special occasion.

Jake Joseph trunks are an exciting change from the regular fabric trunks I am used to.  Composed of 95% Bamboo Viscose and 5% Elastic, these trunks are soft and stretchy.  They conformed to my body and felt extremely nice against my skin.  Size Large was a good fit but I think a medium may have been a better fit as this pair seemed to be a bit big.

To be competitive in the trunk market, I get the impression that most companies feel they have to have a pattern or some exotic design printed on the trunk.  With Jake Joseph trunks, the gimmick is the fabric.  The overall design is what one would think of when considering trunks.  The design is basic black but the waistband has the Jake Joseph name in stylized silver lettering.  This made the trunk feel slightly more fashion-forward.

The pouch was the same soft material and extremely comfortable—soft and supportive for everyday wear and all day comfort.  The pouch was interesting with a normal fly look, but a look inside revealed a horizontal bar.  I tried the fly and it seemed rather normal to use.  Even though there was a fly, there was also the pouch aspect.  While the pouch was fairly standard, the elasticity and softness of the fabric would conform to a guy of any size.

I wore these for normal daily wear and found them to be comfortable, stretchy, supportive and soft.  The fabric allowed for my khaki pants to slip on easily and I never felt like the trunk was sticking to the fabric and pulling on my pants.  This is something I cannot tolerate from a pair of underwear.

Overall, the fit was good with a soft and comfortable fabric.  I found the underwear to be a bit big, but washing and drying them fixed that issue and made them true to size.  The style was fairly normal, but I loved the bamboo fabric (I will be buying more bamboo undies).  While I thoroughly enjoyed these trunks, I did find a couple of negatives.  The price, with no discounts and straight from Jake Joseph, is $37.  Quality isn’t cheap.  Also, the pouch/fly combo was rather strange.

Jake Joseph Classic Brief

From the various reviews I’ve conducted in the past several months, I’ve noticed one common denominator that runs true with every brief that I’ve tested—if the design isn’t well constructed, you’ll fail with that particular style.  I don’t know if it’s pure luck or coincidence, but it all comes down to construction.  In my humble opinion, this must be the fundamental focus when designing a brief.  Because they cover the least amount of the body of any other pair of underwear (minus thongs and jocks), it’s critical that the manufacturer hits the mark when it comes to how a pair is technically constructed.

The black pair of Jake Joseph briefs I recently tried simply failed in this area.  Don’t get me wrong, the quality of materials, which include 95% bamboo viscose and 5% spandex, nailed it when it comes to comfort. Likewise, the classic black color along with a perfected waistband that includes the signature Jake Joseph name makes for a pleasurable aesthetic.  Simply stated, I expected a better brief in this price point.

Recently, I wore these for a full day which included my regular work schedule as well as a lot of physical activity.  I was constantly pulling these back around my buttocks.  I don’t think it was a problem with an ill fitted pair for my body size.  These briefs were a size medium and I have a 31 inch waist so I’m convinced this wasn’t the root of the problem.  Perhaps it’s simply a pair that didn’t get caught during quality control inspection.  However, buyer beware if this a common problem with you as well when trying to purchase the perfect pair.   I guess you can’t win them all but I have to stay true to my convictions and assessment.

People do not often think of t-shirts when they discuss underwear, but today I am reviewing the New Balance Cotton Crew shirt.  The shirt is made of 94% Cotton and 6% Elasthane which gives it a stretchy feeling but also a great wicking ability.  I received two of these shirts for review and they have since become my two workout shirts.  New Balance made a shirt that does exactly what it’s supposed to do.  I think my favorite part about these shirts is they can do double duty. These shirts look good under button ups or sweaters but also can be worn in the gym, take a beating and still keep you dry.

The color, cut and construction are all great; in fact, even after several wears and washes, they are holding their shape well. The color I got was a bright blue which is different than a lot of other shirts I see which helps me stand out when running on the road. These shirts are cut for an athletic body. I am a skinny guy and shirts often fit me like a paper bag but this shirt has a fit perfect for my build. However, if you have a few extra pounds, there is enough stretch to take care of it.

The color, fit and the ability of these shirts to keep you dry, no matter how hard you sweat, was unmatched. Whether I was lifting weights in the gym, going for a 5 mile run or jumping from meeting to meeting, I never got soggy or felt like the shirt was sticking to me.

At the end of the day, I love these New Balance shirts for the versatility and ability to handle what ever I throw at them—weather it is a hard workout, lounging at home or adding some color for a work meeting—this shirt can do the job.

I am excited about this new pair of N2N Boot Camp Boxer Briefs!   There is not much room for improvement on any of the N2N styles I’ve worn lately and this holds true for the Boot Camp Boxer Brief.  If you compare the scoring across the N2N styles I’ve reviewed previously, you will discover that this manufacturer is consistent with quality, construction and styling.  Likewise, if you compare the overall scores with those of their counterparts, the N2N brand is quite competitive—in many cases winning out on cost per pair.

What I like most about this design is the selection of complementary color combinations. This style is great for this time of year by offering the traditional summer white color along with a baby rib fabric, consisting of a 90% cotton and 10% spandex mix, completing the overall esthetic of these sporty boxer briefs.  This style is also available in white, black and olive green.  The 1 and 1/5th inch N2N branded waistband gives this pair an additional colorful punch with the black, olive green, and burnt orange striped color combination, all of which provides the appropriate width for a traditional boxer cut.

I wore these recently to the gym and they held up well during my workout, providing the appropriate level of support and ability to keep me dry.  If boxer briefs aren’t your preference, N2N offers these in a brief and jock that you might want to check out. However, if you’re a boxer brief kind of guy who’s looking for adding color and functionality to your undie wardrobe, you might want to seriously consider this style.

The Odyssey collection is next on the list for a review.  This is part of the new collections just released this past March and April.  I will admit that N2N Bodywear is one of my favorite underwear companies.  I really have enjoyed most of the underwear I have reviewed from them.  This collection is one that keeps up the tradition I have come to expect.  I was a little worried because the odyssey collection is cut more loosely and that I would not like them as much as the Black collection which is not cut as loose.

The Odyssey collection has a hand dyed pattern in Aluminum (grey) and Cypress (Green).  Being hand dyed makes each individual piece unique.  As a result, N2N states on their website that they cannot guarantee print placement.  This unique feature makes it very cool to me.  However, the pattern may not be for everyone.  I know we have some readers who will take one look and go, “no thanks” but don’t let the patter stop you. Pattern aside, the Odyssey Pouch Boxer is extremely comfortable.

The Pouch boxer is just that, a boxer with a pouch—which is wonderfully supportive.  Again, as I mentioned above, the looser fit brought with it concern that it would not hold up to a full day of wear. However, my concerns were unnecessary—it did hold up to a full day of wear.  The pouch never lost its form nor did the undies in general.   If you are a long time reader, you know I’m not a fan of the boxer brief style.  This dislike stems from their habit of almost always riding up which drives me crazy wearing them. This pair did nothing of the sort even though I though they would. They fit really well. I will say N2N, you pleasantly surprised me.

My biggest gripe is the waistband.  I really love cool waistband designs and this one was a little plain. In the grand scheme of things, a plain waistband is a very minor complaint.  While on the subject of gripes, I would love to see them offered in more colors.  The design is muted and not very colorful.  However, these are minor design complaints.

What I liked:

  • The pouch gave great support
  • The fit didn’t ride up
  • Pattern is a one of a kind

What I didn’t like:

  • Plain waistband
  • Pattern maybe too much for some
  • Lack of colors in the line.

N2N Bodywear furnished these for review. They are available on the N2N Site for $22.00.

N2N Bodywear is one of my favorite underwear companies.  They create underwear with a great pouch that fit a guy. Nothing is worse than a pair of underwear that does not fit right!  The pair I got to try was the Black Sports Briefs. This is part of the Black collection which you should know is part of the eroticwear collection of N2N.

I know you are asking “why is it under the eroticwear?” The pair looks like rubber. Yes, I kid you not; it looks like some of the fetish wear you see out on the net.  But it is not made of rubber; it is constructed from a nylon spandex blend that has a special coating to give it a matte rubber look.  This material also requires special care instructions.  You cannot use chlorine bleach or oil around the pair, which for me isn’t a problem.

I was afraid that it would be too constricting however, the fit of the pair was very good.  In fact, it fit like regular pair of spandex underwear.  It was a little tighter than expected, but I like my underwear a bit tight.  They were very sexy and made me feel so all day.  The Black Sports Brief would be great date night underwear, but make sure the other person is into it before surprising them!

This pair is going to get a lot of wear by me. It is sexy, fun and different.  I love it when an underwear company does something unexpected like this! N2N really steps outside the traditional underwear box!

What I liked;

  • The fabric is innovative and a lot of fun
  • It fit like a glove and gave great support
  • Its very different from what is out there in the underwear world

What I didn’t like

  • Not an every day pair. You couldn’t wear to the gym
  • Special care instructions

N2N Bodywear furnished these for review. They are available on the N2N Site for $26.00. They are only available in black!

We are going to continue our series of New Balance Underwear reviews. We also have a few more from some of the other guys that will be out over the coming weeks! The pair I have now is the Thermal Compression Mock Neck, which for me, is a departure; we haven’t done a lot of shirts. While I think shirts are very much in the scope of the site, we have not requested nor have many companies sent shirts for review.

If your town was like Atlanta this spring then it wasn’t the traditional spring you are used to. One day would be hot while the next day would be freezing.  It has been crazy!  Therefore, on one of the cold days, I decided to wear the shirt under a long sleeve shirt just to see how well it worked. I will say that despite my initial doubts, it really did keep me warm. I have worn spandex type shirts before and I felt like it sucked the heat right out of me.

This shirt not only looked good but felt good as well. I was a little worried with me being so tall that the shirt would ride up but it held its place well. Being 6’4”, it can be hard to find shirts to stay in place.  If you like to wear compression shirts for working out, I would definitely check this one out.  You can wear it with an over shirt or just wear it by itself, if you are that bold.

This isn’t something we normally review and we at UNB would love your feed back if you want to see more reviews like these!

What I liked:

  • The shirt kept me very warm!
  • It kept its place and didn’t ride up
  • Form fitting felt great all day

What I didn’t like

  • Have grey and would love to have different colors
  • I wouldn’t recommend wearing it in the summer

I think people like to be startled; you know, like when you peel back the paper of a can of biscuit dough and wince as you anticipate the “pop!”  Come on, you know you like that.  Relieved of its pressure, the dough bulged and squeezes partially out of the can. Well, that’s sort of how I felt when I wore the New Balance Sport Brief.  Not the “pop!”, but the emerging dough.

In the world of compression shorts and underwear, there are two types of gear: those that make room for your boys and those that just wanna squash ’em flat.  The NB Sport Brief was the latter.  My boy parts were compressed and bulging out of these briefs in a way that would have impressed Pillsbury. Compression shorts really ought to provide some sort of contour pouch.  It might work for sports bras to compress everything down to maintain control, but men’s parts are different and need lift and cradling.  I was adjusting these undies all day.

I wore them twice, once to work (a sedentary office job), and then to the gym a few days later, thinking that the second wearing might offer some reprieve–perhaps the front stretched out a bit from the previous wearing?  No dice.  Again, a contour pouch would improve this underwear 100%.  They look great, the waistband is firm and stays in place and doesn’t roll (even during kickboxing), and the flat piping around the leg holes was very comfortable.  The material is very lightweight and allowed my body heat to escape nicely.

New Balance boxer briefs are not normally what enters my mind when I decide to try a new pair of boxer briefs.  New Balance is a shoe company, after all.  With a boxer-brief from a shoe company, one would expect a mixture of leather and breathable fabric with a large NB emblem in the middle of the waistband and a high arch in the back.  However, I was pleasantly surprised by the experience.

This two pack of boxer-briefs from New Balance came in black and black with a neon green waistband and small NB on the lower left leg opening.  I found the styling to be appropriate, the fabric soft and stretchy (95% cotton, 5% Elasthane), and the fit adequate.  When I first pulled the boxer-briefs out of the package, I thought the style was fairly similar to other boxer briefs I have tried except these had no pouch.  I do not mind a pair of underwear not having a pouch if the fabric is stretchy and conforming.  The New Balance boxer-brief is definitely stretchy and appears to have been made for comfort.  After trying them on, the fabric was soft and the fit was good.

First I wore this boxer-brief for normal daily activity and found it to be comfortable and soft.  I wore dress pants and they slipped up over the boxer-brief easily and never felt like they were sticking to the fabric or pulling on my pants.  I cannot stand a pair of underwear which feels like they are being pulled on by my outer layer of clothing.  Next, I wore them to the gym where they were subjected to five miles on the elliptical machine and weightlifting.  I like boxer-briefs at the gym as they keep you from chafing and these were no exception.  I enjoyed wearing them to the gym more than wearing them as daily underwear.

Overall, the fit was great and true to size large before and after washing and drying.  The fabric was soft and conforming.  The style was fairly normal and I liked the stripe around the waistband.  Although I really enjoyed this pair of boxer-briefs, there are a couple of negatives associated with them.  First, the price is $29 for the two boxer-briefs.  After a few web searches, I was able to find them for $21 with free shipping from a website, so price may not be an issue after all.  Second, some guys will not like the lack of a pouch, but it was stretchy and conforming enough for me.

New Balance Lifestyle Trunk 3

The New Balance Total Fit Lifestyle Trunk 3 is the perfect trunk for guys who jog or run a lot, or who have a job that requires a great deal of heat and sweating to complete.  They are made from a soft 87% polyester and 13% Elasthane blend, and are lightweight and maneuverable.  Built with a contoured Total-Fit closed fly (no fly, no pouch), these trunks have Lightning Dry moisture control, which means you can stay dry and feel cool.  The trunks include multi-panel construction for an advanced, comfortable fit and breathability.  In addition to the previous features, these trunks also have anti-odor and anti-microbial features.

Features:

  • 3″ Inseam
  • Square-cut trunk
  • Lightweight
  • Articulated grip around leg, groin, and rear
  • 4-panel construction for advanced fit and breathability
  • Contoured New Balance Total-Fit Closed Fly
  • Moisture & odor control
  • Locker hook and center panel in back

I decided that with all the features that these trunks have, I would wear them to the gym and see what happened.  After a few miles on the elliptical machine, I checked for moisture on my body and was surprised to find none.  Apparently, these trunks do what they are said to do.  I found this to be the best feature of these trunks and, as with most trunks, I experienced zero chafing and things stayed in place during my workout.   I do not mind the lack of a pouch because I like tight underwear while working out, but some guys might not like this particular feature.

Overall, the fit was great and true to size: large before and after washing and drying.  The fabric was soft and conforming, but not stretchy.  The style was fairly average, but I did like the steel gray color.  Although I really enjoyed this pair of trunks, there were a couple of negatives associated with them.  First, the price is $28 for the one pair of trunks.  After a few web searches, I was able to find them for $16.99 +shipping from a website.  Second, some guys will not like the lack of a pouch.
