mesh-pollWe are curious if you guys wear mesh underwear? It could be the sheer mesh or the more subtle sports mesh but with no lining. One thing I have discovered here at UNB is mesh crosses sexual orientation. It amazed me how many straight guys LOVE mesh. I thought it maybe too gay but Obviously it doesn’t!

We want to know when you wear it or when you’d like to wear it. Do you wear it all the time? Occaisonally? Only on special Dates? Want to give it a try? or would you never wear it?

Share your opinion on mesh!

Yoga-Underwear-2xistAs a collector of underwear my “favorite” pair changes almost as often as I actually change underwear. But I have a new favorite that’s held the top spot for a couple months now and I want to tell you about them.

My current favorite underwear is the 2Xist Speed no show brief. Now I like all cuts and styles of underwear, but the Speed are really unique. The nylon spandex combination stretches and gives in all the right places yet still offers support where it’s needed.

The feel of the material is soft and sensual but stands up after repeated wearing and washings. They have a nice shimmer to them, which makes them stand out when I’m wearing them.

The colors are bright and vivid. They don’t fade after several washings. They look as great now as when I first got them. The red is my favorite color, but the black and two shades of blue (light and darker) are awesome too. I even have a pair of the white and I am not a big fan of white underwear.

They have a nice wide waist band with colorful, contrasting logo and stripes. One of my favorite parts of the design of the brief is the seams just above the leg holes that are contrasting stitching with a tasteful embroidery look

If you’re a briefs kind of guy these are a must have for your collection, and if you don’t wear briefs often these might be the pair to change your mind.

You can find these at many of the big retailers as well as the web. www.2xist.com has them and they also have trunks and jock straps. Give them a try, I bet you will love them.

Happy collecting and give these a try.

COLT_Collection_ad_5755-H-copyAre you familiar with Colt Underwear? It is a line produced by Colt Studios, well known for their “art” pictures and movies. They have been around for many years but had entered the underwear market in the last five years. You may have seen some pics they have done on Tumblr. But you may not have seen much of the underwear before.

This year at Magic I sat down with Timoteo and they informed me they were taking over the Colt line. This seemed natural after the success of the Cellblock13 line, which is the fetish line produced by Timoteo. Colt Underwear now has the quality and design of Timoteo in their revamped underwear line. So you can expect the same wear and tear of Timoteo!

What is in this new line? Here are the new pairs in this new line up

  • Colt Super Low – The same style as the Timote Super Low Brief but in black and white
  • Colt Jock Brief –  A jock brief in a similar cut to the brief (below) also in black and white
  • Colt Signature Jock – A Jock made with the same banded waistband of the Super Low and Jock Brief. Also in black and white
  • Colt Boxer Brief – A flyless boxer brief with a defined pouch and branded waistband. Also in black and white
  • Colt Logo Jockstrap – See the picture above. It has a wide waistband with a traditional elastic waistband with Colt on the front. Also in White and black.

The prices range from $24.95 (for all briefs and jocks) and $29.95 for the Boxer Briefs. Find these pairs on the Colt Website.

Luxe1100_Luxe_F_GrayIt’s that time of week when you get a great pair of underwear from Baskit for just $12! This week its a classic cut that is on sale. The Luxe Brief that is available in black, white and grey with the logo waistband! The best thing about this pair is it’s made out of my favorite material, Modal. It has a modal content of 95% . Check out this pair and others on sale at the specials page on Baskit website.

etienne_tur_2We have made a few suggestions on here and Facebook on what you should wear. We know there are many out there who already wear swim briefs. We think you guys could use a few good suggestions as well! Mixed in with the guys who already wear them some of you really like to show off and wear barely there bikinis! I remember those days and I would have killed for swimwear like this back in the day!

Rufskin has released their swimwear line and one we think you should check out is the Etienne. The name maybe a little strange but the suit is pretty simple. It’s a string bikini. Yes, you heard me right a string bikini swim brief! This style seems to be making a slow come back. Other brands have made strings this year and I think we will see a lot more as swimwear gets smaller. I think the pendulum of swimwear is going from Board shorts to bikinis, but we’re not there yet!

Why should you choose the Etienne? Are you a fan of really color? The pair is available in traditional white and black. It is also has poppy red, purple and turquoise. Rufskin has never been one to shy away from bold colors. Previous years they have had orange, pink and bright green in their color palate.

Here is Rufskin’s description of the pair: “It’s an ultra high-cut Euro style bikini made from shiny nylon spandex fabric that looks wet before you even dive in. The waistband is extra narrow and both the front and back have contoured seams to flatter your physique superbly. The front pouch is lined and adorned with a single branded eyelet detail”

Its a bold and daring swim suit. Rufskin is made for guys who aren’t shy to show off what they have! Just note that the Large only fits 32-34 waist. It retails for $32 on the Rufskin site!

IMG_0941People who know I collect underwear ask me if I keep it a secret, and the answer is no, I don’t. I don’t keep things from people and any time I can talk to someone about underwear I do.

I have often talked to strangers at the store while they are shopping and often look confused and I offer my opinion. Most of the time the guy is thankful for my opinion and only a few have ever walked away freaked out lol.

I have never understood why it’s such a silly taboo to talk about underwear. I mean, if I have a pair of shoes or jeans I like I will tell people how comfortable they are or how long wearing they are. So why not underwear?

I have even been teaching a couple of my straight friends about good underwear. I will be reporting on that in more detail later. It’s nice that they will listen to my suggestions for comfort and style.

Even my mother knows of my collection. She laughs at my collection because her thing is socks. She has almost as many pair of socks as I have underwear. She gets the idea of feeling special when wearing a special pair.

So come on guys, be proud of your passion and speak up, post comments here on UNB. Everyone has ideas and suggestions and we all want to hear them.

Happy collecting and I hope we hear from more of you soon.

IMG_4141It’s almost that time again friends.  AIDS/Lifecycle 2014 is just around the corner.  This is my second year participating with this great charity event.  I was not sure what I was in for when I signed on last year.  I was told this was to be one of the greatest experiences of the my life.  I am writing today tell you all about the adventure I had and will have again.  I also hope that at the end of this you will open your pockets up to this great charity and help raise money for them.

On June 1st over 2500 cyclists with set out on a 545 mile journey from San Francisco to Los Angeles.  Day 1 through day 7 will have the is group riding between 45 and 110 miles.  Along the way we venture up some fierce hills as well as face some cold mornings.  It goes without saying we torture our bodies to show support for this cause.  Thankfully we have the support of over 500 volunteers who make sure we are well cared for after each day of the ride.  Those wonderful volunteers affectionately called “Roadies” make sure we are fed, watered, and cared for medically.  Probably the most touching is outreach of the communities we ride through from day to day.  Seeing the communities line the streets to wave or a passing motorist honk and shout kudos is amazing.  It is that kind of support that makes each day of agony bearable and even rewarding.  It’s no wonder I signed up for my second year before the my first year was complete.

This group of amazing people come together for the purpose of showing support for the San Francisco AIDS Foundation.  All the proceeds from this event help those living with AIDS/HIV and also help in the prevention of these diseases.  Last year a total of over $16 million dollars was raised in the months leading up to day 1 of the event.  I am honored to have been a part of this total and even more so that I am again helping to break new fundraising records.  Knowing that this money goes to those who need it and also that this may help bring an end to these horrible diseases.  Whether gay or straight we all know someone affected.  If we all do our part to bring even greater attention and work together to end AIDS/HIV this soon can be a part of our societies past.

Friends, it is with a heavy heart that I ask you to reach into your pockets and help me raise money for this charity.  It is with your support that the lives of many people can be forever changed.  You can rest easy knowing that your donations help those in need as well as help us riding the route bring greater awareness to this charity and cause.

Please show your support.

mesh-swimwearYou know we are doing the Swim Brief Challenge this year but are you ready for a trend of Mesh Swimwear? Last year N2N Bodywear kicked off this trend with their Pride swim line. The pride was a range of swimwear in the rainbow colors and a sheer mesh back.

At the time I thought it was a one off swim line. I didn’t expect it to actually catch on and be a trend this year. Well I was wrong and more companies are making mesh swim. But the question is will you guys wear it?

N2N continued this trend with the new Pride Competitor line. This time the entire back is not mesh. The mesh panel starts on the left side by the pouch and continues around to the back seam. They always create fun and sexy swimwear.

N2N Is not the only brand now selling mesh swimwear. Vuthy has a whole range of mesh swim. Unlike N2N, Vuthy’s line has pairs made entirely out of mesh that leave nothing to the imagination. I know some of our readers will love this. I for one am not sure I’d wear mesh swim.

If you are one who wants to dare to bare everything in mesh swimwear the pairs of Vuthy you will want to check out are:

  • Mesh Erotic (bikini & trunk) – A black patterned mesh fabric – Full mesh
  • Paisley Mesh Erotic (bikini & trunk) a purple paisley mesh fabric – Full Mesh
  • Mesh Hologram Erotic (bikini) – a black mesh with a bit of bling – full mesh
  • Tiger Mesh Erotic (brief in white and black) – a tiger print pouch with mesh sides and back.

It’s a very interesting trend in the Men’s Swimwear. Would you dare to wear mesh swimwear in public? If so where? If you do then check out N2N and Vuthy !

andrew-christian-almost-naked-fling-briefAre you looking for something fun and different for your underwear drawer? If you answered yes then might we suggest checking out the new limited edition pair called the “Almost Naked Fling Brief” from Andrew Christian. The AC site says “Show some skin in our Almost Naked Fling Brief. We kept the color simple, but added some ultra-sexy straps to the front/side to keep the focus all on you.”

The pair is sexy but not too over the top. Unlike some pairs made with a cutout, this features a full pouch in front with a cut out on the left hip. Speaking of the pouch it’s made with one of my favorite pouches, the Almost Naked pouch. In the world of underwear the pouch is one of the most important to me. The Almost Naked design is in my top 5 pouches ever. Seeing AC do something new with the line is great!

This pair being a limited edition pair its only available in Red or black. So if you’re not a fan of red or black, you are out of luck. However, if this pair does well there is a good chance it will be back in the future.

I really like this pair for many reasons. The first is it’s a bikini cut. I am a big fan of smaller cut briefs. There is a trend that underwear is going smaller and smaller, which to me isn’t a bad thing. Second, it has the Almost Naked pouch. This pouch allows you to “hang free” to make you feel like you aren’t wearing any underwear at all. Lastly, its just a fun pair. I think we all need those pairs to make us feel sexy when we have to present at that important meeting. Wearing fun underwear just gives you a level of confidence. Its important to find those pairs and wear them as needed.

If I had to choose a color I would go for the black pair. I say this because imagine wearing it on a date. When your partner saw it I think the black is a little more stylish. You may not agree and may want the Red but it’s underwear! We should wear what we feel best in style, color and fabric.

This pair is at the Andrew Christian Website for $22.93

csx-underwear-swimwear

Many of you maybe wondering, CSX what brand is that? I have never heard of them. CSX is a rebranding of Cockcox. I’ve heard from a few readers who say they don’t know if they could buy a brand named “Cocksox”. Cocksox being one of my all time favorite brands I always try to convince them to bite the bullet and slide them. Once guys try them, I like to say they are hooked on the fit and quality.

Cocksox was listening to the conversations. If you look around at stores online you won’t see them at some of the bigger retailers. I personally think it’s the stigma of the C word! When I met with them at Magic they showed me the CSX line and I thought it was brilliant from a marketing perspective. This will allow them to gain more retailers and customers.

There are some things you need to know about the new line. The branding/labels will be listed as CSX. Everything from the waistbands to tags will have the “CSX” on it. Some of the underwear/swimwear had been toned down a bit. I don’t mean in colors or patterns but in pouch size. The pouch in CSX is not as bold, for a lack of better word, in some pairs. It won’t show off everything you have and then some!

This line adds something I don’t think they have had before or used often. Cocksox created a boxer brief with a fly. The CSX54 has one of the few functional fly ever used by Cocksox. I really like seeing them branch out into new designs. While, I’m not the most favorite but I think this will get them some new customers.

The underwear is not the only part of CSX. The perfect example of the new CSX for swim is the CSX06. This is a swim brief but doesn’t have the pouch of the CX02. The CX02 takes what you have and proudly puts it on display. The CSX06 has a traditional cut of a swim brief. It’s classic and made in the really fun colors. Perfect for your first Cocksox swim or to take our Swim Brief Challenge!

We are going to bring you a lot more on this new line but wanted to let you know about the CSX line! Each pair will get it’s own Style Brief.

Jumping JohnMack Weldon is a company that has been in the new. Literally, they were written up in the New York Times for using more realistic guys in their ads. This one thing gave me hope that the underwear would match the coverage (no pun intended) over the last few years. They are not flashy or have crazy designs. Mack Weldon is a more classic styled underwear line.

Mack Weldon sent us several briefs to try. Alex already posted his video of them about a week ago. Now it’s my time to try. When I took them out of the package the first thing I noticed was the bright orange. UNB James loves the color orange, but I’m not so big on it, but the brightness of it I really liked. The second thing I noticed was the size of the brief. These are more tighty whitey style than I am used too. It always scares me to try a brief this size. I get flash back to previous pairs that loose their shape and become baggy through out the day.

I reluctantly gave them a try. I just knew I would be cursing my underwear choice through out the day. It wasn’t until about 3:00 PM that I realized the pair was doing great and not loosing its shape at all. I didn’t do anything crazy just daily activities. The brief was M00B02-MY_1made out of quality cotton that conformed to my body. In the back they had something I didn’t notice till later. There is a fabric panel at the top in the back, sort of a crescent moon shape. I would assume this keeps the back from getting baggy and really be form fitting. This pair surprised me. One last thing is on the fly there is a super small branding tag that is just a cool touch

The fabric this brief felt amazing. I knew it wasn’t pure 100% cotton and has some spandex mixed in. The official list of fabric is 47.5% Long Staple Cotton / 47.5% Modal / 5% Lycra. THAT’S IT! Modal! Modal is one of my favorite fabrics for underwear. The way they mixed this in was brilliant. Previous pairs of Modal can be very thin and fragile. Get it caught on a zipper and that pair is done. This mix is really great and Mack Weldon out did themselves.

Sizing is always a big issue. I’m 6’4” and about 245 so not the small guy by any means. I currently have roughly a 38 inch waist. The sizing for the large I reviewed is 34-36. I was surprised when I looked at the size chart. Granted they were a little tight but they fit great. I prob could have used a larger size but it didn’t bind or make me feel constrained through out the day.

Mack Weldon really impressed me with the undies. This pair could have gone horribly wrong. They took time in sourcing fabrics and construction so my hat is off to the crew at Mack Weldon. Would I buy more undies from them? Absolutely! It’s a classic style that every guy needs in his drawer!
Pros:

  • Amazing Modal/Cotton Fabric
  • Great fit through out the day
  • Classical Styling

Cons:

  • Maybe too plain for some of our readers
  • Not in super bright colors more subtle color palate

Ratings:

  • Fit – 8
  • Sizing – 9
  • Construction – 9
  • Styling – 8
  • Performance – 9
  • Overall – 8.6

Mack Weldon furnished this pair for review. You can find the briefs on their site for $19.50.

10172843_10152009427145079_1368873767385691290_nIt’s become pretty clear that underwear brands are not just relying on in-store markets to pump up sales; social media plays a big part in connecting brands to buyers in today’s world. If you’re like me or any of the other guys on the site, you too might be following your favorite brands on Twitter, Instagram and the like. While the steady stream of pictures of barely-clothed men is nice, it is also a great way to find out about the newest styles of underwear that are about to hit the market. And with any luck…it’s also a great way to find out about some awesome sales.

When I came on to the UNB staff page a number of weeks ago, UNBTim told me he was jealous of the fact that I lived in LA, because a few of the great brands we’re use to reviewing are based out here. Of course, Andrew Christian is the first that comes to mind, as he has a few store fronts out here (the West Hollywood store is only about 20 minuets from me). Recently, I began following N2N Bodywear on their new Instagram page (@N2Nofficial) and was happy to find out that its warehouse is even closer to me, about a 10 minute drive away!

Shortly after I began following them on Instagram, they posted about a pre-white party event they were going to be having in the warehouse, with underwear, swimwear and activewear on sale from $5-30. With prices like that, I knew I didn’t have an excuse not to go, especially since it was so close to my house! So midday on Saturday, my boyfriend and I jumped in the car and headed downtown to take a look.

Immediately I noticed how impressive the store front looked; plenty of merchandise in the windows and great looking banners with stunning models. When I rang the doorbell to get in, we were immediately greeted with open arms, literally! Andrew (who I would later find out to be the owner and creator of N2N Bodywear) answered the door, shook our hands and promptly walked us through a tour of the warehouse. We walked through what is the entirety of their distribution warehouse, with rows upon rows and boxes upon boxes of underwear. It was, in short, like I had died and gone to heaven.

Andrew was a gracious host and showed us the backroom where he had laid out all of the boxes of merchandise that was on sale. Underwear was typically $5, swim was typically $15 and active was around $30. We spent about 30 minuets looking through stuff before I finally deciding on two pairs of swim apparel, (stay tuned for some reviews maybe….?) but I honestly could have purchased it all. Not only did Andrew and N2N make it a great buying experience, the sale prices were out of this world and I was thoroughly impressed by all the pieces I saw: nothing but high quality materials and great designs. Andrew hugged us on our way out as well…what a guy! I can’t wait for the next sale!

Be sure to check out the entirety of the N2N Bodywear collection, available online at http://www.n2nbodywear.com/. And follow them on Instagram! @N2nofficial. And as always, don’t forget to drop me a tweet at @UNBPaul, and let me know what you think.
