en_banneraussieBum has created a new range called Daintree. Daintree is a limited edition pair. The aussieBum site says the following about the line “Inspired by one of the world’s most beautiful and powerful eco-systems, the Australian Daintree Rainforest, this latest super-soft Micro-Modal range “Daintree” is both comfortable as well as naturally stylish. The combination of earth tones and bursts of colour on the waistband make each garment eye catching while the high-quality internationally sourced fabric and original brief and hipster styles remain as key elements of this special edition range”

So what you should know is its available in some really great colors. Ivy, which is an olive green, Mist which is a light blue and Vince which is a bright yell. The pair is made out of super soft modal fabric. So it will be amazingly soft on your skin. Last, it has a new aB branded waistband that I love. It’s a little understated but still very cool Each color has a contrasting color waistband.

You maybe asking what styles they have in the line? They have the standard brief and hipster. Two of their classic styles. If you ant the pair head to the aussieBum site!

photo 1I found Fox Michaels on Instagram. He posts a set of pictures every day on what he’s wearing. Each day is something fun and well Awesome! His sense of style and fashion just amazed me. We got talking and I knew I would love to have him do a regular feature on the blog. We have gone back and forth on ideas and finally came up with a great idea!

If you guys are like me your underwear is amazing but you may not dress well. I suffer from this all too often. I have settled into a rut of Tshirts and Jeans. I kind of lost my style over the years. When I was younger I had a great sense of style, or so I would like to think! But the last few years….DAYUM! We won’t go there!

So what are we doing? Well we are going to send Fox a pair of underwear and he’s going to put together a look based on those undies. We will challenge him with different pairs and colors. He is up for the challenge! We are working to get undies for him and should have it started in a few weeks.

To give you an overview this is how he picked the look above!

Here’s a look I threw together today.  I have this new beautiful green silk tie I got at TheTieBar.com, and I wanted to show it off.  I don’t have to wear ties to work, but I always wear one on Wednesdays as my own private celebration for hump day!
photo 2
I mean a day described with the word Hump deserves celebrating!  I usually throw together an outfit around one piece I want to wear.  And that was this green tie.  It has blue flowers on it, and reminds me of Spring, which I think all of us are so ready to begin already!  From there, I put on my vintage Fox head tie clip. (Can’t get foxier than a Fox wearing a Fox!)  And then a silver pocket square (also from TheTieBar.com) to match the silver tie clip.  A fun indigo colored jacket that also reminds me of Spring, and matches the blue flowers on the tie. Then charcoal colored, slim, stretch, waxed Levi’s, and Grey Kenneth Cole double monk strap shoes, that pull together the dressy, with a sense of fun outfit I was going for.
photo 4
Finally, at the end of the day, I like to strip down to my fun undies, and show off my coconuts… (on the print, duh! haha)  Oh, and highlighter yellow argyle socks!
photo 5
As you can tell, I like to have fun with colors, patterns and styles.  Life is meant to be fun!

MAX_SUAVE_Bikini_Black_ESMP10N_41__73485.1413839991.1280.1280Next up for my review was a new brand I had never worn before, Ergowear, but heard some positive reviews on this brand in the past.  I always find it exciting yet nerve racking to try new brands.  I received the Max Suave bikini in black which was very exciting.  I love the look of bikinis.  I am a fan of underwear that is skimpy and sexy and this cut is exactly like that.  It reminds me of some other brands that have a similar cut and those pairs have always been some of my favorites.  The side is strictly just a waistband and it offers full coverage and support in the front and back.  The Max Suave brief offers some of the best technology and material in bulge support.  This style offers a 3 dimensional pouch which creates such support and comfort that you wont believe your eyes.

I prepared the pair for another typical work day for myself.  I always feel that if you can wear a pair to work for the whole day and it survives your daily routine, its a keeper.  I know it can be scary to be away from home in a mysterious pair of underwear all day without another pair to help you out but its worth the risk to find a good pair of underwear.  Upon opening the bikini, you immediately feel how soft this fabric is.  The pair is made with a soft polyester, spandex microfiber.  They also felt great on.  Like I said, I love the feel of the skimpy bikini that reaches all the way up to the waistband on the sides.  Sometimes, the extra material is just unnecessary and you appreciate a slimmer sexy look.  The material feels very soft against the body.  Everything laid in place quite nicely.  The waistband has a really fun look to it with the font used for the brand name.  Its nice to see something different that stands out different from the market.  Sometimes these bikini cuts can cause some issues with having to adjust the back or front throughout the day.  This pair held up nicely and I did not have to do any adjusting.  Another bonus for my workday!

I wear a medium and to me Ergowear held up nicely to its size requirements  The MAX_SUAVE_Bikini_Black_ESMP10N_46__35419.1413839989.1280.1280Ergowear Max line would be great for the well endowed man.  I am average in that department but this underwear was made with the bulge in mind.  The anatomically enhanced pouch for maximum support allows everything to be where it needs to be which is important for all men.

I really enjoyed this bikini.  I wore the black one and they also offer it in mink.  It’s a nice pair of underwear and would be nice to have more color selection, especially brighter colors that pop in your drawer.  It’s priced at $25.73 which is expensive but with the soft fabric and the advanced technology for the pouch design I can see why its above its competition in price.  I think Ergowear has a great visual look to it and they really take the man’s body into consideration when designing their underwear.  I look forward to trying some new offerings from Ergowear and would recommend this pair to anyone looking for that soft, comfortable pair.

Pros:

  • Soft fabric
  • Anatomically enhanced pouch
  • Beautiful cut

Cons:

  • Low variety of colors

realguy swim briefI have always hated board shorts, but being a straight guy living in the US, that is all you see. You may say…that is all that is socially acceptable. Being a guy who is not necessarily in the best shape of his life, I have always been on the board short train, but I hated the mesh liners and/or hanging free so my secret was I always wore a speedo style suit underneath.

When on the beach though I would pull the boards down a bit and the legs up to get a better tan, but never got up the courage to go in just a speedo. I always wondered…Am I in good enough shape? Will people laugh? Will people make comments? I just had no idea how it would be perceived. One thing I did know was that swimming in board shorts was awful! Trying to tread water with the weight of shorts was not fun!

Then in July 2013 I proposed to my girlfriend. We set a date for October 2014. Now I knew I had to lose weight for the wedding. In planning everything we decided to go to the Maldives on our Honeymoon. With the loss of weight I decided I would at least get some smaller swimwear for this trip.

I decided there is no way I am going there and wearing board shorts, so I bought some short and thin Diesel swim shorts, but when we got there I noticed that the Europeans there were in some boards, some shorter swim trunks and some swim briefs. So I thought….here is my chance!

I said something to my wife about going out in just swim briefs and she turned to me and said, “Go for it. Who cares.” I was still very apprehensive. Yea I lost some weight, but not enough to look like the guy a few villas down. I kept thinking, no I can’t people will stare…people will laugh.

After a day of watching the other people on the island, I decided to just do it and see what reactions I got. I went to my beach lounger with the Diesel shorts over a pair of Geronimo swim briefs. I sat on the chair, laid back and then slowly removed my shorts. I looked around and not many people were there yet so I though ok, so far so good. Then our neighbors on either side, both also young couples came out to their loungers and I started getting paranoid. I watched them without them knowing and I know they saw me, but no weird faces, no whispers, nothing. So far so good. More people walked by and again no strange looks. It seemed as if no one cared!

Then I decided I needed to get up to get a drink. I thought, should I put my shorts back on? Should I just walk to the villa in my swim briefs? If I wasn’t already sweating from the heat I would have started sweating at that moment. I decided to say screw it and I got up and walked just in the swim brief. Again, no dirty looks from the neighbors.

So after all of the apprehension, fear, and worrying I realized no one cares! So I decided to go all 10 days in speedo style suits! I wore N2N, WildmanT, Aussiebum, and Speedo brands. It was great! So much better than board shorts and much better tan lines! The only time I put on the Diesel shorts was to snorkel just for some extra protection from the sun.

Oh yea….the wife enjoyed it too!

What a great time! Will I now be brave enough to do this in the summer here in the US? The jury is still out, but I have plenty of time to figure that out since it is March and still 20 degrees and snowing here right now!

NOTE: The writer is a guy named Steve who lives in the North Eastern US. We have talked for a while and he agreed to share his experience being a straight guy wearing a swim brief

My conquest of 15 new brands for my underwear drawer in 2015 continues wittumblr_nan9r7mQSA1r8qddoo1_500h Pump Underwear.

Pump Underwear has been #1 on my list for the past year. I have loved their look, advertising, and style but was always a little concerned that I may not like the mesh underwear. I did not have much experience with mesh underwear and the few that I had worn were not my favorite.  That did not stop me from putting them at the top of my list and you can imagine my excitement when I received my first pair to review. I started off with the Raver Brief. I chose this brief because I love the color combination of the neon blue and green and look of the brief. To me, it looks like fashion meets athletic in the perfect combination for a man.

When I first opened the pair, I immediately noticed how soft they were.  I expected the mesh to have a rougher feel but I was pleasantly surprised that it didn’t.  I slipped them on and the softness continued.  Once again, I did not entirely know what to expect with the mesh but this nylon, cotton, spandex combination is pure heaven.  The pair fit great in all aspects.  I wear a medium and was forewarned that their sizing is European, something I had not experienced before.  The pair fit perfectly and was not too tight at all.  I had great room and movement in the front pouch, giving me the support I wanted in a pair of underwear.  It covers the back perfectly and feels great all the way around.  There is even some added elastic in the leg opening which adds a little extra support, allowing the pair to sit exactly where it needs to, while even giving your butt a little lift and comfort.

12021-1_1As usual, I took this pair on a busy workday to see how it could hold up to a lot of movement.  And how did it hold up?  Amazingly!  I never had to adjust the underwear and not one time did I feel any sort of discomfort.  There was no riding up, discomfort, tight waistband, rubbing, or anything negative.  I did everything from sitting to standing, walking, and even hitting the gym.  It held up to the highest expectation I had for it.  This is huge for every guy.  The last thing we want is to be at work or out and about, having to adjust ourselves or pick at underwear that is riding or chafing.  The Raver Brief allowed for great movement with no negative consequences.  In fact, it even has great breathability with its micromesh material.  You won’t be hot and sweaty with that added feature.  When that happens, you know you found a special pair of underwear.  I almost wanted to pinch myself to make sure it wasn’t a dream.  Luckily, it was no dream, just a dream pair. 12021-3_1

The only negative thing I can say about Pump Underwear is…..why did I wait so long to have you????  If you are looking for a fashionable yet athletic inspired pair of underwear.  This is it.  If you want comfort with style and finesse.  This is it.  All in all, this was the pair I was waiting for.  To me, it was the perfect pair and one I want to become my go to pair of underwear for maximum comfort and visual appeal.  I loved it.  I can honestly say this is the best pair of underwear I have worn.  Thank you Pump Underwear for making this amazing pair of underwear.  I can’t wait to see more of what Pump has to offer.

Pros:

  • Soft, breathable Micromesh material
  • Absolute comfort
  • Stylish design

Cons: Not applicable!!!!

  • Daily Fit = 10
  • Sizing = 10

UNB Photographer Profile featuring Boulon Studio

_MG_9230edit

Underwear News Briefs had the privilege of talking with well known photographer Paul Boulon.  Paul has made a name for himself in front of and behind the camera which was a great opportunity to see both worlds first hand.  He shares aspects of his vision, some past shoots, and his upcoming dream team of models.

UNBKyle:  Thank you for sharing your work with us.  You have shot some of the most popular models as well as having some iconic photos of their work that have been floating around on social media for a while.  What was your first photo shoot and how did you come to get it?IMG_9804

Paul:  My first photo shoot was actually of myself.  I purchased a camera, wanting to pursue photography.  I set a timer and went to town. Now, the first photo shoot I had that paid was a headshot session for a few of my friends.

Kyle:  I love how you threw yourself into photography and with such a great object as yourself.  But I know we can be our worst critic so that could have been the easiest and toughest way to start.  What made you want to pursue photography?

4Paul:  I don’t call myself a model.  I usually tell photographers “I just like pictures of myself”. Ha! But it’s true, I have a nice face and body and while I’m not going to walk into agencies hoping to be a Calvin Klein model, I enjoy pictures of myself.  That won’t last forever, being in front of the camera.  With knowing how things were done, I thought why not try behind the camera.

Kyle:  I am sure there is value added by having knowledge of both sides of the camera.  It reminds me of Hollywood when actors become producers and directors.  Which shoot do you consider your breakthrough in your career?

Paul:  There are two different scenarios for myself in this situation. I’d say photographing Steven Dehler, Colby Melvin, or any of those other underwear models because of the exposure I received. But, though the photos haven’t gone anywhere, photographing Melanie B or James Maslow would have to be my breakthrough. Celebrities are always a break through in your career.

Kyle:  That is a shame that those photos have not surfaced.  Would be great to see them!  Which shoot has been your favorite? Why?

Paul:  My favorite shoot has been Chris Salvatore. I photographed him twice, but the first time was when we started getting to know each other as well and he’s such a genuine and nice person. The photos came out amazing and we both had a great time.

Kyle:  Chris Salvatore is a great guy!  I am a fan of his and he seems very sweet and genuine.  Which shoot has _MG_0754editbeen your most challenging? Why?

Paul:  Other than headshots, I think every shoot is challenging. You have an idea you want but sometimes it doesn’t come out how you want or don’t have the right lights, etc. Every time I photograph it’s a challenge but that’s why I like photographing so much.

Kyle:  Going from mind to matter can be an amazing or devastating transition because you have set expectations for yourself and your vision.  You have some big names already under your belt but are there any brands or models you would like to work with that you have not worked with yet?

Paul:  I want to photograph with every brand out there. And as for models:

Top 5:

Charlie Mathews
Alexis Ren
Vince Sant
Joseph Boyd
Hugo Mayhew

Kyle:  Do you hear that guys?  Paul Boulon is ready for you!  How do you prepare creatively and determine your environment for the shoot? Is it determined by you, the brand, or a collaboration?

Paul:  It depends on who I’m shooting for and what they want. If it’s my decision to go out and shoot a certain idea, I put a mood board together and looks, etc.

Kyle:  What are some tips you give models in order to be comfortable in front of the camera whether as a new model or for more intimate/revealing shoots?

Paul:  I haven’t given many tips for models.  I’m just a really normal chill guy when I’m shooting. And for more revealing photos is all up to the model.

_MG_6036editcropKyle:  Sounds like the normal, chill attitude helps the model be comfortable and relax.  It also helps that you have experience on that side too.  What about on the photography side?  Any tips for people wanting to get into photography?

Paul:  Tips on wanting to get into photography, just pick up a camera and photograph. Shoot anything and everything. A photo can be anything but it’s all about the composition that makes it interesting.

Kyle:  Good point.  Thinking about it too much in the beginning could be a big barrier.  What are your interests away from the camera?

Paul:  My interests away from the camera are dancing. I grew up dancing all my life with ballet, jazz, hip hop, etc. I love it that I made a career out of it but have diverted as of moving to LA and wanting a change.

Kyle:  Such great versatility with dancing.  So many genres.  Apart from photography as we briefly discusses, you have done some work in front of the camera too? Tell me about how that part of your career started.

Paul:  I started modeling when i turned 18 years old. My first photo shoot was a photographer in Dallas and it was an experience. As a model, I shoot everything from commercial to nude. The photographer said I had a great face and wanted to photograph me. I was such a baby then haha

Kyle:  Haha.  We will have to dive into details of that modeling career soon.  In the end, do you have a preference on whether you are in front or behind the camera? What are the best parts and worst parts of both sides?1

Paul:  I like both sides of the camera.  I tend to go through spurts mostly. For a few months I’m behind the camera and then I get bored and want more attention so I model in front of the camera. It’s random but I get it all out of my system before I’m too old I guess.

#drawerfullI met half of the team at Drawerfull.com in Vegas at Magic. We have been working with them through our asst editor Kyle for a few months. So while in Vegas they told me about a show they were doing on March 6th in Lexington, KY at Sound Bar. They asked if I would come up and cover it. I quickly Google Mapped how far it was from Atlanta. It said 5 and a half hours. Which is not a bad road trip. So I said I would def be there!

The day before the show a big snow storm hit Kentucky. It didn’t look promising that I would make it to the show. But I said I would wait till the following morning to make a decision. I got up and checked the weather and road reports. Again I wasn’t confident I would make it up there. But I called Kentucky 511 and they said all the major roads were clear and at speed limit conditions. I looked at the weather and it was COLD but no more snow was expected. So at Noon I headed up. That should have put me up there around 5:30 PM.

The Drive itself wasn’t too bad. I didn’t even encounter snow on the ground till I reached Kentucky. The roads, as they said, were clear and speed limit and no weather delays. With the exception of construction and a wreck, it would have all been speed limit conditions the entire way. So I arrived after 6 PM. They Drawerfull guys got me a hotel room and they picked me up and took me to the event. I thank them for that!

We got there a little early and they were setting up a pop up store at the event. So that every pair that was in the show you could buy right there. Which is pretty cool. I have been to many shows you want the undies and it’s not there. The crowd was slow to come in, but having that much snow and being cold. I don’t know what the turn out would be. But it turns out they boys came out in force.

The first part of the show started at around 10 PM. They had 7 Models. I will say the boys they got for the show were amazing. Some of them were professional models others not but they were a mix of real guys and models. In all each of the guys were really great models. The brands ranged from Timoteo, Unico, Xtremen, PPU, 2EROS, Supawear and more! The upstairs bar where they had it was a circle with stairs in the middle. Each model walked around and the spectators sat around the walk way. It was a cool set up. It gave everyone a great view of each of the guys as they walked around.

The second half of the show was about an hour later. This time the place was packed. More people showed up to see the show. The boys came around again in different underwear and the drag queens there had a little more fun the second time with one of the models. They made sure everyone got to see him and the underwear. We have pics all but one pair. I got a very important photography lesson. In low light everyone has to stand still or pictures turn out blurry! But most of the pics turned out!

After the event the models mingled with the crowd and the store was open for all your underwear needs. It was a lot of fun. I was so glad I went to the show. After 6 hour drive I was tired and didn’t mingle much. They are going to do a lot more and we hopefully will team up and do a lot more with them. We both have some great ideas and just need to brainstorm and get together!

I want to thank Drawerfull guys for all the hospitality and the super fun show. I think it was a big success and a lot of fun! If you are looking for a great company to buy undies from go over to Drawerfull.com. You will see the undies from the show and support two really great guys in the world of underwear. All the pics you see here, each pair is available at their site!

How much are we looking foward to summer? I will say I’m ready for this winter blah to be over with. Here in Atlanta we go from 70 degrees to 30 degrees and its been a roller coaster of temps. March is here and spring is around the corner and so is warmer weather. Or so they tell me.

teamm8While in Vegas I got a chance to meet up with Teamm8! They have some great stuff coming in the next few months. I can’t wait to share them with you guys but in the mean time you can check out the Cabana swim range. The reason I love this range so much is the geometric print they designed. Its just a lot of fun for swimwear. My personal favorite is the pink pair! I mean isn’t the point of wearing a pair of swim briefs is to be seen? Why not get some great color to be seen. I bet you will get a ton of complaints as well!

The collection has briefs, trunk and swim short but we are just focusing on the brief. The two colors of the brief is the pink I mentioned above and blue. Each is amazing. The blue is a little more subdued but still a great design. On top of that the pair has a cool waistband with a drawstring that ties in the fun and shows on each size. Made from 80% Nylon and 20% Elastane so it will hold up to the surf, sun and pool!

If you aren’t a swim brief fan like I said check out the swim trunk and short in the same pattern. Also the swim short could make a great cover up for the brief. Wear it to the beach or pool and take it off to relax in the brief in the sun!  The brief retails for $69 AUD at the Teamm8 website.

Ilde is a swimwear company I discovered on Tumblr. There are a few underwear/swimwar Tumblrs that i love checking out. One of my favorite’s had a few pictures of Ilde. I had to find them and looked them up. They have some amazing prints as well as solids. It’s a very cool line and I am reaching out to them to get more information on them! Enjoy the pic for the time being. Find them at the Ilde Swimwear page

2EROS has an amazing style! How Jason designs a lot of what he puts out just boggles my mind! He has a feel on what looks amazing on a guy. The cuts, designs and colors just accent a man’s body so freaking well. The new Beach swimwear fits the bill on that as well.

As you can see the new Beach swimwear is kind of a throwback to the logo deign they have used in the past on the Icon series. The 2EROS logo is center on the back and accents your assets! This pair however has a nautical theme so in each part of the logo is a sailboat and anchor. It’s an evolution of the design that is just super fun.

The Beach is a low rise swim brief. So don’t expect a competition cut swim brief, it will have smaller coverage and for many of you out there this is a bonus. The colors they have available are Navy and Gold. There is one small detail that 2EROS does that I really love. That is the drawstring. They put aglets on the end of the string that are 2eros branded.

The Beach is available now at the 2EROS site for $54.95 AUD. It’s super fun and hope to see many of you out there wearing it this year.

bike-10-throwback-jockstraps-againAs many of you know, a year ago, Bike Europe made the brilliant decision to do a limited edition run of the Bike #10 jockstrap. They called it the Vintage Throwback Edition, and it was awesome in every aspect. As expected, they sold out in no time. Well, by popular demand (and constant begging) Bike Europe has done a second run of only 6000 and Jockstrap Central has them – and at an special 10% off relaunch pricing.

This Vintage Edition is styled after the original made first in 1874 and with a special throwback insert for the clamshell packaging, this is truly a collector’s item. They’re sure to sell out fast.

It’s everything you expect of your #10 – with a woven moisture wicking pouch that’s soft out of the box and with this Throwback Edition, Bike didn’t go crazy on the bleach so it already looks like a vintage jock you’ve been wearing for years with it’s antique white coloring.

This #10 Jockstrap also has the tough and snug full 3 inch wide white waistband you expect necessary to give you all the support you need. Finally, it wouldn’t be a number 10 without the centered outside label and signature black and red striping.

With a limited run and Jockstrap Central’s special relaunch pricing we probably don’t have to tell you to snap these up quickly before they’re gone again.”
