Have you tried Nylon underwear or are you a big fan that can’t find it? Back in the 80’s there were plenty of brands making nylon underwear. Bikinis and briefs were easy to find. Mix the fabric with bright colors and it was a winning combination. Then we moved into the 90’s and we entered the world of black, white, or grey. On top of that was the introduction of the boxer brief. Most mainstream undies moved in this direction. This made many of the nylon underwear companies without a market. They either changed their business model or went out of business.

Over the last 10 years or so I have seen more companies producing the old standard nylon undies. They have a sub “fetish” group under men’s undies that love these styles. I hate to call it a fetish, I should say preference. Before you run out and get some nylon undies there are some things you need to know. If you’ve never worn them, first thing is they aren’t stretchy. If you’re used to spandex and such, these don’t have that much give. Also, they aren’t super body hugging. Which is not always a bad thing. I prefer the brief or bikini cut in Nylon. It sorta creates a pouch out of the fabric that gives you support.

One company that has been around since 1994 is still making these undies. That company is JG2. This is how they describe themselves. They “address a market segment that most designers and manufacturers of men’s underwear routinely ignored, treated as a fashion fetish, or relegated to novelty status. That market segment is: men’s nylon underwear”

They currently offer bikinis, thongs, and boxer (well boxer briefs). The colors are more on the pastel side but I think it really works with the pairs they offer. The pricing is around $15 a pair. I am going to reach out to the brand and find out more info about them. I just wanted to pass this along to you guys who love nylon undies and can’t find them! Shop JG2.

  1. This is my experience with this company. After purchasing some 6 pairs of underwear, I put them in the wash before wearing for the first time. The red dye bled onto everything in the wash, ruining not just the six new pairs, but everything else in the wash.

When I made them aware of this they first denied it. I them sent them photos, including a picture of the defective pair in a sink filled with red dyed water. Still they refused a refund, and only grudgingly and after much discussion would they agree to a refund. Then they said that they couldn’t refund the shipping charges. Then, it became clear that they would only refund for the one red pair. This led to more discussion and attempts at persuasion.

I later tried to reorder the same briefs (no red this time) and they refused my order because I ‘caused problems ‘.

My impression is that this is a small company that doesn’t subscribe to keeping the customer happy. I’d steer clear if I were you. The products are expensive, unreturnable and ad I found out, can be defective. The owner sees you as a one time sale, not a long term customer.

    • We respect the fact that Paul took the time to post his impressions about the interactions he had with us. However, we regret the fact that he choose not to provide a more accurate summation of the facts.

We queried our database to find a record of the the incident posted by Paul. What we found was that the name of the customer that reported this problem to us was Chris … not Paul. The six pairs of underwear he referenced was his fourth order with us. And what he reported was that the red pair of underwear bled onto his white jeans. We issued him a RMA number to return the item for either a replacement or refund. He felt that was not sufficient, and that we needed to do more. So, after subsequent email with him about the issue, we issued him a refund for the full amount of his order … without requiring him to return the six briefs. Several years later, he submitted an order — for two other style of briefs — which we declined to accept.

Those are the facts from which you can draw your own conclusion. We value all our customers and strive to maintain a long-term relationship with them. We make no apologies for our restrictive return policy. And we know that, regardless what we do, there will always be someone who is unhappy with us.

To everyone who has purchased our garments, we thank you!

I’ve ordered and worn the hipster brief and had no problems at all.The company has always operated professionally. My only problem is the pricing, and I’m sure that has to be because of lower volume sales.
