underwear-issuesOne of the biggest complaints I hear from you guys is how underwear fit real guys. If you’re an underwear model with a 30-32 waist, you have no problem finding underwear. However, very few of us can consider ourselves male models.

Real guys have real issues with underwear. Some of the biggest issues we hear are from endowed guys, guys with butts, big thighs, bigger guys and smaller guys. I’m sure there are tons more out there. We want to tackle these issues on the blog!

In order to do this we need your help! We want to hear your issues in finding underwear. What are your biggest gripes? How do you overcome those issues?

We are looking for some guys to talk too and explore how we can meet these needs. Speaking as an endowed guy it’s hard to find underwear that fits in the pouch. You see a great pair of underwear and put them on and…. Well you don’t fit. Guys with butts have the same kinds of problems. They sometimes have to buy a pair of underwear a size up, which I don’t think still fits well. One area that I think is under represented is smaller guys. It may seem funny but guys under 29 inches have their own issues.

We are creating a Google Drive form you guys can fill out and offer your advice and problems. We would love to follow up and maybe interview you on the blog about the problem. All responses are confidential and if we interview/quote you, we can use a pseudonym.

Martone Red BikeWe love helping charities here at UNB. We have helped our own James with the AIDS Ride in California and try to post when we can about great charity events happening. I have gotten the chance to talk to Jack Mackenroth on Twitter and he’s been such a great guy. We post a lot of his underwear pics and when he asked about posting this i said sure. He’s working to raise $50,000 by making sexy selfies, heartfelt videos and Undies. He told me in an email that he would auction off undies for $250! Here is the official press release:

Former Project Runway designer turned HIV activist, Jack Mackenroth is attempting a feat that many individuals and companies are struggling to conquer – mobilizing and monetizing a massive social media following for the greater good. Known on social media for his scantily clad photos and sharp wit, mixed in with a dose of activism, Mackenroth has pledged to raise $50,000 (the individual fundraising record) for BRAKING AIDS® Ride (www.brakingaidsride.org) – a 285 mile bike ride from Boston to New York City benefitting Housing Works (www.housingworks.org), whose mission is to end the dual crises of homelessness and AIDS through relentless advocacy and the provision of lifesaving services.

“Housing Works is honored that Jack is devoting his time, energy and social media prowess to raise awareness and funds for our fight to end AIDS and homelessness,” said Charles King, Housing Works CEO. “The money Jack raises will directly fund the lifesaving services we provide to nearly 4,000 individuals living with or affected by HIV/AIDS. We’re looking forward to riding with him in September.”

With just seven weeks to reach his goal, Mackenroth is urging his devout following to donate to his fundraising effort by incentivizing them with sexy selfies and heartfelt videos that allow consumers to make a real difference for HIV, while getting tremendous social media exposure on Mackenroth’s personal channels, including his Twitter (107,000 followers), five Facebook accounts (250,000 followers) and Instagram (17,000 followers).  By donating $250 or more to the cause, consumers will receive a shirtless photo of Mackenroth, personalized with their name or social mediahandle on his chest.  For those looking to make a more substantial donation of a $1,000 or more, Mackenroth will up the stakes – offering a personalized ass pic—with 2 takers to date. The overall strategy has already yielded rapid results – raising $8,000 in just two weeks!

“Having been diagnosed as HIV-positive 25 years ago, this is a cause that is obviously a very personal one and although I have workedwith and lent my face to countless HIV charities, organizations and campaigns, I have never directly asked for donations,” said Jack Mackenroth. “I am setting the bar very high here to see what’s possible. I’m hopeful that others out there are as passionate as I am and are willing to support me.”

Two companies have also seen value in his ingenious, sexy marketing technique. Martone Cycling Co. (www.martonecycling.com) has donated two bikes to the ride, both of which will be used to help fuel fundraising efforts. By donating $100 dollars or more, consumers will automatically be entered in a raffle to win one of the bikes (pictured), while the second bike will be given to the person who is the highest overall fundraiser other than Mackenroth. The bikes retail for over $1500 dollars. SCRUFF, (www.SCRUFF.com) is also supporting BRAKING AIDS®Ride by purchasing team jerseys for Mackenroth’s team, The Mack Pack.  Additionally, SCRUFF will be matching up to $2,500 in donations later this month.

The Mack Pack, currently has 15 riders and to date they have collectively raised over $31,000. If anyone would like to ride they are still accepting registrations and welcome more members. Register here: http://info.housingworks.org/jack-mackenroth-social-media Jack added, “I’d like to beat the team total record as well which is close to $150,000. We’ll see if people who read this will be motivated enough and selfless enough to give money to total strangers who are really struggling on a day-to-day basis.

Mackenroth will also be utilizing his social media outlets from now until the end of the ride to document the amazing experience and capture the challenges, the humor and all the inspirational moments during his journey. BRAKING AIDS® Ride will kick off in Boston on Friday, September 12th and finish in New York City on Sunday, September 14th. You can help Mackenrot hmake a difference in the lives of people struggling with HIV and homelessness by donating at bit.ly/jackmack. You can also watch his touching video about why he is so inspired to take on this monumental challenge.

You can follow Jack on Twitter and Isntagram @jackmackenroth.

Vernon Banner

We always hear some of you guys say you want to see real guys in underwear. You like the model shots but you want to see how the underwear fits real guys. Well, Garçon Model did that with it’s Kickstarter. They had one backer to be a model in a shoot. That person is Vernon.

Here is what Garçon Model said about the shoot:

“Vernon was flown in to Vancouver and was a great sport and a natural in front of the camera. His energy and positivity shined through in this beautiful photo shoot. Vernon became a friend and he’s now part of the GM family!”

They did a quick interview with Vernon and here is what he said:

1. What pushed you to make the Kickstarter pledge?

I am always open to new experiences.  Makes life interesting and exciting.  The only pledge level that struck a cord was the one involving the photo shoot.  Several years ago, I was into bodybuilding and, at the encouragement of friends, I had professional photos taken.  The photographer suggested that I consider print work.  I joined a couple of “casting” companies in the area, but nothing ever came of it given my busy work schedule.  This pledge gave me the opportunity to do something I have always wanted to do.

2. What sets Garçon Model apart from the others?

Love the way it looks on me.  It is extremely comfortable and offers great support throughout the day.  I am a pretty active guy.  Whether it be sweat or spray while on the boat, the fabric holds up really well when moist or wet.  Other brands tend to stick and pull.

3. So… how did the shoot go?

The photo shoot was fun but harder work than I expected.  I guess that could be due in part to my inexperience.  I felt really awkward and stiff in the beginning.  A drink or two probably would have helped.  The guys were great.  They were very patient and talked me through it all.  The joking around helped a lot.  As the shoot progressed, it got easier.  Would love to do it again, but definitely won’t quit my day job.

It’s not every day we cover shirts.  As more companies are branching out beyond underwear and swimwear it is something you may see more of on UNB. I think coving them makes sense for us. Most companies are branching out into work out wear and other clothing that compliments underwear.

aussieBum has released new Rugby Jersey. The jersey is made out of 100% sports grade cotton. The line also “which features a vintage style knitted rugby collar. A charcoal logo and number vinyl transfer accentuate the sporting features of the jersey, available in burgundy, green, royal blue and black.”

I will be the first to admit that I do love a rugby jersey. I think this is a great addition to the aB line up. Also they have red and marron to their ‘Rugby Heritage’ shorts collection. Now you can look like a rugby player but with out the chance of getting hurt.

If you like the shirts and want to check them out, head over to the AussieBum site. They retail for about $51, depending on the exchange rate. The Rugby Heritage shorts retail for about $30.

VU6-13-AI have to start off saying N2N Bodywear is one of my favorite underwear companies. The first reason is they make really comfy and great underwear. Second, I love the guys over at N2N. They are really amazing guys. I know you guys have heard me say it before but there are very few bad folks in men’s underwear. It’s a very small community and just really great people.

Usually when we get N2N, I get a chance to try the Signature Trunk, but not this time, the other Tim got it! I was a little bummed but I got to try a pair I have never tried before. That pair is the Vintage Trunk. I believe this is the second year for the collection (but I could be wrong). The vintage line is one made to look like it’s been in your underwear drawer for a few years.

Over the years of UNB I have tried these “pre worn” type of underwear and they always feel great. I was hoping this was going to be the same with the vintage trunk. When I took it out of the plastic it comes , the fabric felt super soft. It made me go “What is this made of?” The fabric is a Rayon/Spandex blend. I slid them on and they felt like I had had them for a year or more.

The fabric wasn’t the only thing I liked about the pair. In the list of top 10 pouches, the N2N pouch is one of favorites. Andrew knows how to make underwear to fit a guy. Granted, I have a larger pouch than most, so it’s the most important thing in undies for me. Some run way too small but rarely have I had them too big. This is just right.

I wore these running around town for a busy day. First, the pouch as mentioned above was amazing and gave me the support I needed. Next, the trunk, while not a favorite, fit more like a brief. Meaning it didn’t ride up or go too far down the leg. It was a very nice cut that reminds me of the Signature trunk like. Lastly, the fabric just felt amazing against my skin. They have out done themselves on this line.

The sizing is spot on. You shouldn’t have any issues with N2N at all. The size chart is pretty accurate. I haven’t ever had any issues with mis-sizing. Actually I haven’t ever heard people who have had issues. If you have let me know.

Pros:

  • Super Soft Fabric
  • Great N2N Pouch
  • Amazing design

Cons:

  • Some may not like the colors since they are more pastel

Ratings:

  • Daily Fit – 9.5
  • Sizing – 10
  • Construction – 9.5
  • Styling 9.5
  • Performance – 9.5
  • Overall – 9.6

N2N Bodywear furnished this pair for review. You can find this on the N2N site for $24.00

Radical-SportI know we have a few fans of Male Power out there. This week they have released four new lines. The first two are the Radical Sport (above) and Nylon Burn out (below). I have a few pairs of Male Power that I really like, such as the zipper shorts featured here for the Radical Sport. Just don’t zip it back up while still on because…. well you know! Here is what Male Power said about the line

“Anyone can look like a star athlete in Radical Sport, a line of shorts and thongs for the man who is occasionally zipped up but never buttoned down. All styles are made from a sensuously soft fabric imprinted with zigzag black lines, and are trimmed with functional, zipper fly fronts.

The Zipper Short features a contoured zipper pouch, low rise waist and high cut legs. In the mood for something even more daring? The Zipper Thong, a Male Power classic, offers a one inch back and sides and low rise waist. Wilder still is Zipper Moonshine, which looks like a brief in front, and has a jock-like, cut out backside for a partial baring of the buns. Color possibilities are light wine and slate; fantasy possibilities are endless.

The sizzling but subtle Nylon Burnout is perfect for men who project a sophisticated sensuality. The stretch fabric is comfortably lightweight, and offers a croc-like pattern on the outside and a hint of sheerness within.

Three different styles appeal to many different tastes. The Pouch Short affords a bit more coverage with its mid-length leg, low-rise waist and comfort pouch. The Wonder Thong teases with a full uplift pouch, low rise waist and one inch sides and back. The Posing Strap offers le minimum – a plush, elastic G-string back and a full comfort pouch. All selections are Male Power favorites, and come in either navy or taupe.”

These are going out to retailers now, so check with your favorite retailer for availability.

SWM3255It’s hot now and the swimwear you should wear should be hot as well shouldn’t it? I think the main point of swimwear is to show as much off as you can legally get away with in public. Well, that’s just my opinion, and I know many of you share this opinion. I have see your pics on Twitter!

What makes swimwear hot to you? Is it the cut? The Color? The Fabric? To me it’s the cut and fabric. I love swimwear that conforms to my body and still accents all my curves. The color is the next important factor. Basic black is always good but when at a tropical location it’s important to really enjoy some color. Why be there and wear something navy/black. The last thing is how fast it dries. I remember the days of growing up and wearing those baggy swim trunks that took forever to dry. Now with modern fabric, it can dry in the matter of minutes.

Pistol Pete has released the Citrus Brief this summer. The pair is designed to accent what you have and make it look amazing. The main color is the pouch that wraps around back. If you look close the white parts in the design are a semi sheer mesh. Now you won’t be showing off all the goods, but you will be showing off. Below the mesh it has an accenting color. It’s available in Orange, Green and Blue.

The one thing I really love about this pair is the way the main color is cut. It accents your pouch and draws attention to it. This pair will command attention on the beach. Especially if you wear the orange. The mesh isn’t wide enough to make it seem obscene, it’s just enough to show some skin. If you’re looking for something bold but not too wild, I suggest you check out the Citrus Swim Brief.

This design is one also that so Pistol Pete. They create swimwear that is not like anyone else’s. The Citrus Brief sounds like it would pass all my tests! Now just to loose enough weight to fit in it! This pair retails for $49.50
