UNB Swimwear Guide 2012

Firs thing I have to do before we get into the guide is thank the awesome sponsors above! Next, I have to thank our photographer Brian from Seven Continents Photography and our Models Cody, Christian and Juan. Our sponsors allowed us for the first time to hire models and do a shoot all ourselves. It is a big learning process and things had bumps (models falling out the week before), but we carried on and pushed forward. We think we did a great job for our first attempt and we will learn more each time!

We had over 60 suits and a full day by the lake and then a re-shoot by a pool this past weekend. It has been a blast and I hope you enjoy this guide and it helps you get some great swimsuits this year! Our Models are Cody, Juan and Christian. Review – N2N Signature Jock

This review is for the N2N Bodywear Signature Jock. From the start let me say that this is one of the best jocks I have ever owned. But, before we get there let’s talk a little about the pair. The sizing was pretty much spot on, it fit very well and didn’t bunch or bind. Made out of 90% cotton and 10% spandex with really fit well and moved with me through out the day.

My initial impression of the jock had me worried. I do love a great pouch in underwear and when I saw this one, I wasn’t sure how it would fit. I shouldn’t have worried at all about it. It gave me really great support and the leg straps stayed in place. It would be a great pair to wear to the gym.

This was put through its pace at work. I don’t have too stressful job right now, but I want to wear this hiking to see how it will holds up. But it has been one of my favorite pairs. It just reinforces that N2N knows how to make underwear for men. They take time in designing each piece and it fits amazing.

I loved the low profile of the jock. It has a regular waistband of a brief (1 ¼ inch). The pair also had a great pouch or as they say a contour pouch. As much as I didn’t think it would stretch it did and just felt awesome. Lastly, my only complaint would be making it in more colors. Currently it’s only available in Black, White and Yellow.

Style Brief – Pistol Pete Titan Midcut

As we have said this will be swim week on UNB. Our Swimwear Guide coming out later this week! We will show you some of the best swimwear out for the season. This is the Pistol Pete Titan Midcut swim trunk. This pair has a retro styling that is a throw back to the 60’s. Yet, its still very modern. It very much reminds me of a “James Bond” suit. Similar to the one that Daniel Craig wore in the first Bond movie he filmed.

This just is a really fun suit. It’s great to see companies like Pistol Pete doing innovative work in men’s swimwear. No longer are we just limited to board shorts and swim briefs!

Review – N2N Performance Box

We got in a lot of N2N Bodywear to review. It has been one of my favorite brands to review. The pair this time was is the Performance Box. If you have been a long time reader you know I am not a huge fan of the boxer briefs/trunks. I really prefer briefs. However, these were not your typical trunks.

The performance line is made out of 96% micro polyester 4% spandex.  It was sort of a mesh but really was breathable. Back, to my distain for trunks, when I got these I was a little skeptical due to the pouch design. There didn’t seem to be a noticeable pouch.  However, it turned out to be a really supportive pouch

I decided to wear these to the UNB Swimwear shoot. Nothing would put a pair to the test, then having to run around the lake, making sure suits where in order, models shot and such. It was a cloudy but nice day and I was really impressed with these. They gave me great support and really breathed through out the day.  There was one thing that annoyed me, that was the tag. It rubbed me the wrong way a few times but not all day.

The sizing on the pair was true. One thing I have found in N2N has great sizing. Its’ not one you have to worry about running large or small.

Pros:

  • Great fit
  • Breathable through out the day
  • great for someone active

Cons:

  • Tag annoyed me

Not Your Typical Underwear Model, Konstantino for Rufskin

When you think underwear model the first thing that comes to mind is abs. Just about all the models you see are super fit and clean cut. We at UNB know that a lot of you want to see real guys in underwear. There have been emails and also responses to our Readers Survey.

This leads us to a new model in the world of underwear/swimwear. That model for Rufskin kind of breaks the mold. Granted he does have abs but he’s not clean-shaven. The model, Konstantino, not only has a beard but a very bushy beard.  When I first saw him, I had to do a double take. Then I noticed he has a beard more for a lumber jack then an underwear model. (The pictures he is wearing the Gemini)

Rufskin has never been one to shy away form different guys in their pictures. They have their own image of their brand. Rufskin has never been one to follow the rules of traditional underwear, in design or presentation.

This brings us to the question, would you like to see more nontraditional models like Konstantino? That aren’t super built or clean cut?

Review – N2N Luxe Trunks

The pair I was lucky enough to review was the N2N Bodywear Luxe Trunk. N2N is one company that I love to wear and try out new pairs. This pair is made out of 92% Polyester / 8% Spandex, which makes it fit your body.  This made the sizing fit true, so you shouldn’t have to worry about sizing issues.

As I mentioned I love trying out new N2N. However, this one made me a bit nervous. The reason is there isn’t any elastic in the legs. It made me wonder if the pair would loose shape and not support everything. I soon found out that this wasn’t an issue.  Through out the day it held it’s form. When I made it to 3 PM I knew I was in the clear and the undies are well made.

I wore to work and didn’t do anything too out of the ordinary. It fit me very well through the day. I have reviewed a  previous pair in the Luxe line , that was the Luxe brief. The Trunk is a pair that one really lived up to the Luxe name. I would suggest the Luxe trunk is perfect for daily wear. It moves with you and gives you great support.

There isn’t much or anything I didn’t like about the pair. My only complaint could be add a few more colors. Which is a minor complaint. There were no tag, fit or construction issues. I loved the way it fit and N2N created a great pouch. It will definitely go into my underwear rotation.

SEX SELLS and it is clearly working with the new Andrew Christian video featuring adult film star Rod Daily. The video is a montage of scorching hot (behind the scenes) footage of the Andrew Christian photo shoot. It starts by letting you see the playful side of Rod.
