Men’s Swimwear

Category

Did you know there is such a thing as classic swimwear? Well if there is not I’m claiming it now for Australian Brand Smithers Swimwear. Why do I say they are classic? Because they have a great cut that isn’t too small or too large. They have a brief and a trunk cut in three different prints/colors. And the colors are blue/green end of the spectrum. That just says “These are for the regular guy.” Which is a great thing.

The reason I was impressed with them is the styling. It’s hard for me to explain in words here. When I saw it, I went “OMG I must know more about them!” It’s swimwear I could see just about any guy wearing out on the beach, pool, or boat. I’m sorta paraphrasing here but it’s swimwear for gentlemen. They say “Each of the six designs represents a different quality that encapsulates what it means to be a gentleman: Integrity, Modest, Empathetic, Gratitude, Respectful, and Loyal”

I think the reason I love this brand so much is they remind me of the swim briefs when I was growing up. They were more classic colors and to use one of their words “modest.” These aren’t as large as the ones I grew up on, but they aren’t super small either. I think for today’s guy this is a great size. Speaking of size, their sizing is not bad either. I think it will fit the majority of guys. I have my eye on a few pairs I want to rock next year when I get closer to my fitness goal.

I hope you guys will check out this amazing Aussie Brands. I think that the Aussie men’s underwear/swimwear scene is a very diverse one. It ranges from the super sexy to classic and everything in between. From an American perspective we have always seen guys in swim briefs on Bondi Beach, all ages, sizes, and shapes just enjoying the day.

Check out their collection at Smithers Swimwear Site.

We did a totally non-scientific poll about what you guys wore last year. I expected more of you guys to weigh in but those who did it was very much Swim brief as the main style. But I know so many of you out there still aren’t wearing the style. A large group want to wear them but still are hesitant. But here are our results

You guys wear everything. But most is Swim Briefs and thongs are picking up to third place. More and more of you guys want to wear the swim thong. I just bought my first swim thong in a long time. I”ll keep you posted on how it goes.

The Main styles you guys wear were swim briefs and swim thongs. It’s prob the two more popular on our site. I made sure I put in Nude this year because we have a few readers who prefer nude over swimwear.

You guys wore more than one pair of swim this summer. I believe in having 3-4 pairs of swim per season. In my younger days I would have 8 or more pairs. I mean I would never wear the same pair twice to a swim party. LOL

We still need some work in convincing our friends to wear some swim briefs. We have to keep spreading the word of the swim brief. How comfy they are, how amazing they feel and it’s for all guys.

If you didn’t take the poll there is still time.

It’s Thong Thursday!!! A day when you celebrate all things men’s thongs! One brand that I have heard a lot of great things about is Skinzwear. They make amazing swimwear for men and women. BTW, if you’re a couple you can get matching swimwear (it doesn’t matter if your partner is a guy or a girl!). They are doing something really cool. They think every guy and girl needs a simple black thong swimsuit.

If you agree and wear them, what better time to pick up a new pair of swimwear. If you have been wanting to try a swim thong, now is the time to get it. This pair is usually $30 but is on sale for $20.  Not sure how long the sale may last but it’s a great starter pair for you to try. The reputation of Skinzwear is always high amongst thong guys. It’s always high on the recommendation list.

One thing that is awesome about Skinzwear is you can get any style custom made in a fabric of your choice (well one they have). So if you want a pink thong, no problem. One thing I saw from Sixfootfiveguy on Twitter was a pink singlet. I was like WHAT, he told me they made it special for him!! Even if you aren’t a thong fan you can shop the bikinis, briefs, and other cuts available. You can really let your personality show!!

Head over and pick up this simple black thong form Skinzwear before it’s gone!

We bring you a quick overview of the new JOR Swimwear. Just like the underwear, this carries over the Circus theme into swim. Don’t worry, if you are a fan of the regular swim they have that too. Including some new thongs, bikinis, briefs, and trunks. JOR always makes amazing and creative swim. They make sure prints are included on each line. There is a great mix of classic and prints.

Here are some new pics featuring the swimwear line. See all the line at the JOR International store.

Its the end of swim season in the states. Labor Day weekend marks the end of the season. Most summer vacations are done and you get ready for fall and the holidays. Being this is the last Swimwear Sunday I wanted something super fun for this one. It was not an easy task. I looked through tons of swimwear. I wanted something fun and that would send Swimwear Sunday out with a bang.

One thing I LOVE right now is Flamingos. I love the prints that I have seen in men’s swimwear. One brand that really did the Flamingo print awesome is CaRioCa Wear. They didn’t go over the top but made it more classic. Granted I love both over the top and classic. The Flamingo Rosa bikinis awesome. It is always available in their classic styles as well. You can always get the Sunga if you want a bit more coverage.

Another reason I chose them is their quality. I have a pair of their swim and it’s made out of amazing material. When you take the first pair out of the package, you will immediately feel this is not your normal swimwear. It’s a brand that is worth spending $60-90 a pair. These will last more than one season!

We hope you all wore something great this year and got a few pairs of swimwear. Don’t stop buying them because this feature goes away. We will also cover new swim as it’s released over the next few months. However, this feature will not be back till April of next year. Go shop some awesome swimwear from CARIOCA Wear.

Rating: 8/10 (Average of the Rating Below)

• Daily Fit: 7/10
• Sizing 9/10
• Styling: 9/10
• Performance 7/10

Pros:

• Love the styling-I have always been a fan of the thicker waist band look. I think the wide band style gives a little modesty to an inherently un-modest swimsuit. Sometimes little refinement and sophistication rather than overly strappy and loud styling can be a little much in a thong swimsuit for me.
• Colors- Love the arrangement of solid to print colors on the suit. I personally own the black and love the simplicity in wearing a solid black thong. However, the Fuchsia, or other prints brings this thong to another notch in loudness! Great to fit the personality of the wearer.
• Buns Factor- The wide bands make your behind look outstanding. Hands down my favorite back on any thong I own right now

Cons:

• Center Strap design- What really stops me from wearing this suite every time is that darn center strap, or really string. Many of JOR’s thong swimsuits’ center strap eventually becomes a simple string that eventually joins the pouch. To be honest, I have learned to hate that feeling beneath my gonads. If you are just tanning for the day, it’s really not bad, but if you are at all active, or dare I say bend over, there really isn’t a lot of coverage to save you.

• Pouch size- While the pouch is luxurious and soft and the material construction is fantastic, the size is just ok. For me its slightly constricting and not a whole lot of room to stretch. Especially with that string…nothing to save you below that pouch…Have I mentioned I don’t like the center strap!?

• Big clothing tag on the back-strap. I guess I must be splitting hairs, but the clothing tag is huge for just a small swimsuit… I promptly remove the tag because it literally hangs out the side of your suit if you are not careful. But their goes your sizing, washing, and care instructions…

UNB Shawn Recommendations

This is a great first swim thong to purchase. If you are on the fence about this whole swim thong craze here on UNB look no further than this suit. It is easy to find, pricing not terrible, lots of colors, and fairly modest backside.

I have worn this thong a few times in the sun and in the water and it really is a thong built to last. Good quality construction and for the most part pretty comfortable…Maybe you will like the stringy strap, but it all reality it’s a great piece of clothing and I am glad it is a part of my collection.

We have just one more Swimwear Sunday this year! The unofficial end of swim season is fast approaching, Labor Day. After the holiday there are less and fewer trips to the beach! It’s time to prepare for fall and winter. That doesn’t mean we won’t cover new swimwear for the rest of the year but it will no longer be a regular feature. Swimwear Sunday will start back up in April of 2019.

This week’s pair is one of the classics of men’s swimwear! The N2N Bodywear University Sport Brief. This line has been in N2N Bodywear for a long time! It’s has included a swim brief, jammer, and thong. All inspired by the University colors! While not a specific school you can adapt it to fit your favorite school.

Some of the features of the pair are:

  • Contour pouch
  • Back branding
  • Outer drawcord
  • Unlined

It’s one of the best selling pairs at N2N. I have no evidence of this but being in the collection for so many years it would follow reason it would be a great seller. There are three colors on this pair that make it a very eye-catching design. The pouch is one of the best, N2N really knows how to make a pouch. Many of my favorite swimwear is from them just because of this reason!

This year’s selection is a little more subtle. In the past, they have been blue, maroon and more. Sometimes you just gotta mix it up! The black is always a great choice for the beach. The little black swim brief is a look you can never go wrong with!

If you need some swimwear before the end of the year, check out the N2N Bodywear University Sport Brief.

I got the chance to spend the day in an Ergowear Feel Swim Brief. If you have read the blog for a while, you know I’m not the biggest fan of the feel pouch in underwear. I prefer a lot more support than what it delivers. I got a Feel Swim Brief a while back and it has sat in my drawer. I was hesitant to give it a go, but this one day I decided to wear it. The first reason is it was green, which is my favorite color. And second, I was feeling good about myself.

I think the second thing is the important thing. At times I put on swim briefs and look in the mirror and go “UGH.” I don’t feel like I should be wearing the style. I’m feeling too big, not sexy, put myself down. Then take them off and grab shorts. Well, not this day, I was in a mood where I said “Fuck It.” I was going to a pool where no one cared and others would be wearing the same.

When I got there the nerves kicked in. There were guys in all shapes and sizes in trunks and briefs. Most were beefy/bear guys. They were having a great time and I yanked my shorts down and decided to just enjoy the day. No one’s head turned and gasped! Or looked at me in disdain that said “OMG what is he wearing.”

I had a great day in the brief. Now back to the point of this post. The Feel pouch in the swimwear I love much better than the underwear. The front gave me more support with the nylon/spandex material. Plus it gave me a bit of an enhancement in the pouch. A few guys asked who made the suit. It’s not a wide released suit on the market. I think they were intrigued by the pouch.

If you are not a fan of swim briefs because sometimes they can be super tight and feel like your junk is in a vice. These will not give you that feeling. The pouch was loose but not too loose. I think it’s the right amount of support. It’s tight enough to keep things in place but not too tight to squeeze everything.

I give the day two thumbs up. The first is for overcoming my fears and wearing it. The second is for the awesome swim brief. I say give them a try it may look a little odd at first but the comfort you guy, you won’t regret wearing them!

Swimwear Sunday is all about swimwear. I love it when I get to tell you about new brands. We have profiled GymSwim a few times but their store is now open. They are based out of Europe. GymSwim was founded by  Dušan Chrástek and David Přikryl and have created this project. “It was created for men who like sports and who search comfortable, functional and sexy clothing. Both of us fell in love with fitness lifestyle more than 10 years ago and practice it on a regular basis.”

The pair I chose was the Cosmic Push Up Brief in orange. The design is definitely a brief, more of a bikini if we are specific. They say this pair is designed for avid swimmers or guys who swim on occasion. But there is more to this pair than meets the eye. There are some things I really love about this pair.

The first thing is the pouch. It’s designed to push up and show off all your manhood. Some of you out there this is not something you want, but I bet as many who don’t want it, we have guys who love these suits. They say the.. “The front pouch is unlined with a push-up effect. As a bonus in the back of the swimsuit is a practical strap to hang them.” Ok, what was that about the back? They have a strap to hang them on? GENUIS. How many times have you had swim briefs and just put them over the shower rod or hung them from the cold/hot water lever?

As you can tell by the pics it’s going to give you support. Their site says your assets will never touch your legs. That’s some support! I’m glad they came on the market and are making amazing swimwear! See more gear including swim thongs at their site.

Every year we get questions about where people can find a Tanga in the States. The style is very similar to a string bikini. A tanga has no fabric on the sides other than the waistband. I would say, currently this style is not huge in the US, but it has it’s hardcore fans. aussieBum is also, no stranger to making sexy swimwear.

The Tanga swim bikini is for the true exhibitionist. Made from a fine nylon elastane blend, this new shape fits like a dream and shows off every asset in just the way you want. Experience it now in five bold colours.

As aussieBum says this is for the guy who wants to show off. It leaves very little to the imagination. Let’s be serious, if you’re going to be rocking this pair, you want to be seen and be the center of attention. It comes in four colors, blue, red, black, and white. White is for the really bold guy because white has a tendency to show off a lot more when wet. I’m not sure if this is lined or not.

One of the surprises of the pair is the cost, it’s about $25. Which is very reasonable for swimwear. I think this is in the sweet spot for many guys that have been seeking this style. Plus, being from aussieBum, they are a name you can trust for quality and construction.

If you have been after this pair, get one or a few now!

Pair: aussieBum Tanga
Color: Black, Blue/Navy, Red, and White
Fabric: nylon elastane blend
Sizes: Small – X-Large

When you wear a thong on the beach or to the pool, one thing is that pretty much all eyes are going to be on you. More guys are starting to wear the style but it’s still something not every guy heads down to the water shucks off his pants and has a fun day in thongs. The new Reflector Thong is the life of the party!

“Not for the faint of heart, the Reflector Thong, is the must have if you live to be the life of the party! All eyes on you!”

From a distance, the thong looks like a basic thong, especially the black pair. But as you approach closer you will notice the stripes on the side are different and reflective. “A soft technical fabric with a reflective print that is activated when a source of light is directed on it.”

The thong comes in black or Khaki. Both are pretty cool but I prefer the black in this line. Its subtle but has the flash of the reflecting stripes. I also feel the black, could be considered classic but in this instance, it’s going to make people take notice. When wearing it you will be guaranteed that people will come up to you and ask “Where did you get this Thong?” Maybe even guys who have never work them before. Check out the other pairs in this line too!

Pair: Gregg Homme Reflector Thong
Color: Khaki or Black
Fabric: TBD
Sizes: X-Small – X-Large
Price: $61.00

We brought you amazing underwear from Gregg Homme, now it’s time for awesome swimwear. They have two swim collections, the Exotic and Reflector. You may think the Exotic is the more sexy and seductive line but it’s the tamer of the two collections. In fact, it’s just a short, trunk and brief. There are no thongs or any other style.

The swimwear is made out of a matte fabric that has a soft feel. Which is super important in swimwear. The colors are Royal, Aqua, and Orange. All three colors are great but I see a lot of you guys loving the orange. The styles are officially at Boxer, Boxer Brief and a Brief. I consider them Boxer is shorts, Boxer Brief is a trunk and Brief, well it’s a brief.

All the pairs have zippers on the pockets. Even the swim briefs have a zipper in the back. There is a small pocket you can put the bare necessities. The other pairs have deer pockets but not the pocket to put a cell phone in. It’s more like store your money real quick.

If you want really well-made swimwear in some great styles and colors then check out the Erotic collection.

Swimwear season here is slowly coming to an end, but for Aussie brand Tribe, it’s about to start up. Some of you guys have requested that Swimwear Sunday not always show briefs. This is a trunk and a pretty impressive one as well. The Saint Tropez is a suit that looks classic from the front but has something interesting in the back.

The back is a white background with stripes. However, the stripes just aren’t random, they line up in a chevron pattern. It’s set at a 45-degree angle. Which is very hard to do in manufacturing, but Tribe pulls it off amazingly. I really love the back and they did an amazing job designing and producing this pair!

It comes in three different colors. The colors are black, red and navy. It’s hard to pick the one I like the most. The one we are showing is the Navy. Made 80% Nylon & 20% Elastane fabric and the front is fully lined as well. You won’t be disappointed with this pair on the beach or at the pool.

This is a great pair for those of you who still want to show off a little but not totally go in on a swim brief. It could be your comfort level or the situation. Any of the colors would be great to wear on the beach. Plus, if you’re uneasy about rocking the brief to start, this is a great step between the shorts and briefs. It gives you the look of a short but the fit of a brief.

Check out all the amazing pairs at Tribe. I don’t think many guys out there know of the brad. They are an amazing brand more US guys need to know about!
