How did you discover your love of underwear, swim briefs, spandex, and gear?

I always used to just buy basic three packs at a big box store and never gave underwear much thought but then Instagram helped me see how many brands and styles are out there as well as giving me an idea of the fit.  I started buying a few pairs here and there and eventually learned what I like and what makes me feel good about myself.  I think there is something very empowering about feeling confident in nothing but underwear.

What are your favorite styles to wear?

For me, I prefer briefs, bikini briefs, and jocks.  I have a couple of pair of basic boxers that I wear around the house occasionally fort the “airy” feeling.

Why did you first start posting pics in underwear?

I started posting pics of myself in underwear after I got myself to a point of feeling comfortable and confident in them.  I keep posting as it is a good and subtle way I hold myself accountable for meeting my goals and to keep pushing myself forward.  Also, the positive reinforcement from many people out there feels really nice and is appreciated so much!

If you have a partner/husband/wife are the supportive of you sharing your love of underwear?

I think my partner waffles on how I freely show my underwear exhibitionism.  He gets into it but sometimes there is a lot of eyerolling in the house. 😉

Do your friends know about your IG and live if undies?

Some do, some don’t.  I try to casually keep some sides of me separate from my social circles.

What have been some of the positive things that have happened since you started posting? Did you have any negative experiences?

Getting to know some very nice people with the same interest has been a lot of fun.  There are a lot of very nice people out there who are just trying to live their lives and have fun along the way.  Again, the positive feedback I have received from perfect strangers has been really nice and very much appreciated. I have had some negative experiences with some of my straight friends.  I had to transition a few of them off my IG account.  The occasional stalker pops-up here and there too but not very often.  Sometimes, you just try to be cordial and polite but the other person can take it way out of context.

No matter the body type there are always people who will criticize you that you’re too big, too small, too young, too old, how do you deal with those?

I pay it no mind.  If someone has the instinct, energy, and time to criticize a stranger online, then that speaks volumes to how sad their life must be and how insecure they are about themselves.

One thing I have discovered is guys into underwear tend to be awesome guys. Have you made any friends that you may not have met otherwise?

I have!  I have met some very nice guys out there.  Actually gone underwear shopping with a couple of them and had a great time!

What is your favorite color of Underwear?

Plain white is my absolute favorite.  Leaves the least to the imagination and is just a classic look.

Lastly, What is your favorite social media to post on? And what is your name on there?

I post on IG under the name: ClintasaurusFlex – http://www.instagram.com/ClintasaurusFlex

The epitome of everything crisp, clear and pure. It is designed to keep you feeling fresh all day and night. Constructed with a variety of premium fabrics from sweat-wicking Tactel and 4-way stretch mesh to create a garment that is both comfortable and functional. It features the 2EROS CURV technology and a double layered pouch, which contours and shapes all your assets in a natural way. This also creates a ‘contact-less’ support to reduce chaffing and sweating.

If you are reading UNB, chances are you are looking for fun and different underwear. You aren’t the kind of guy that buys the same brand and style year after year. You want to venture out and see what is available to you. Something different, fun, and unexpected. Then give those brands and pairs a try.

For 11 years and many years before that, I have actively followed the men’s underwear industry. I remember when Cocksox first came out and was blown away by the pouch design. It looked like the most amazing undies. Then I remember brands that always designed something different like Mark Ouest (now defunct), Gregg Homme, and Marek & Richard. It was about pushing boundaries and getting guys to try the next thing. Each one of those brands design different types of undies.

When I say lace undies, the first thing that comes to mind to many of you is women’s underwear. Which, in my opinion, there is nothing wrong with that if that’s what you want to wear. I only judge if you wear boxers! However, wearing underwear designed for women can be uncomfortable because it’s designed for women and not men — no pouch to give you support.

Also, one of the advantages of women’s underwear is the different available designs. It has always made me jealous that women have so many choices. While men have relatively small choices, which I admit is changing for the better.

The lace fabric, until recently, has been classified as 100% feminine. No self-respecting guy would even try on anything lace, let alone wear it as underwear. This attitude has been changing. More male brands are creating amazing men’s lace underwear. Some mimic those styles in the women’s market, and others do new things with the fabric and design.

Before we go too far, have I worn lace? Yes, I have, and I felt pretty damn sexy in the bikini I have, and I want to get more! I am of the camp where you should try anything before you discount it, hence, why I run an underwear blog.

In conversations I have had with some guys, they discount the idea of wearing lace from the get-go. Nothing I say will convince them to try it. It’s either “gay” or “fem” and why would I want to wear something that is either of those? My response is no underwear is gay or fem. It’s the perception of the person.

This isn’t the first time in underwear we have heard these complaints. Not long ago, thongs were given these same excuses. Now it’s one of the most popular styles on the market.

Why should you try lace:

  • It’s sexy as hell. It’s like mesh but doesn’t show off everything but gives a hit of skin.
  • It feels fantastic; if you wear the right lace that has stretch and gives, it feels incredible. Notice I said that twice.
  • It’s naughty – It makes you feel like you are wearing something society doesn’t want you to wear. The same can be said about bikinis, thongs, and more.
  • It’s something different, and we should all break out of our box as much as we can

These are why you should try lace undies! Let me know if you decide to break out your box and wear “gay” underwear! JK, give it a try; you may love them. So may your partner!!!

Mundo Unico has a special place in the world of underwear. I remember them being one of the first “good” brands that I ever bought. Getting them and trying them on I was hooked. They have amazing quality and a great pouch! What is not to love about that!

They were growing in the US, and then all of a sudden they cut back. In this time they kinda disappeared. But, now with a new distributor they are back. I’m very happy about it.

The new collection is true to the roots of the brand. They have always been a brand that is not afraid of colors and prints. They were one of the first prints I ever wore. After I broke out of the “only wear solids” phase I was in. Prints allow you to show your personality more than just solids. Well, that’s my opinion.

This collection features boxer briefs, briefs and jocks. I will say, their boxer briefs are one of the few I like. They know how to make them and make them well!

Here is a bit of the new collection, check it out and you can buy it on UNB Store!

My dating life is varied, luckily I have spent more time single than dating. Which to me is a good thing and I’m not upset at all. In my dating world, I have had partners who were not supportive of my underwear and gear. Sometimes I just ignored it because it was easier and other times it was the last straw. Here is what I did in relationships when my partner wasn’t supportive.

There are several different levels of unsupportive partners. The first is they don’t get the whole underwear thing. To them, undies are a function and not fashion. The next level I call, the commenter. They make comments about your underwear. It could be how much you spend or negative issues. Lastly, is the partner who actively puts you down and makes negative body image comments.

Support level – They don’t get the underwear thing

The easiest to deal with is the person who just doesn’t get it. They aren’t purposefully making adverse comments about what you wear. They see underwear as a necessity and not something sexy. I had a partner once that when I wore a thong (shocking I know, I do occasionally wear things), asked: “What is that?” This was also in a time that thongs weren’t widely available. I explained I felt sexy, and it showed everything off, which it did! He eventually accepted that was a part of me and rather fight it, have fun with it.

A lot of the times these types of partners are easily converted into an underwear fan. Once you explain how great underwear makes you feel, they get it and can actively support your love. This has been my opinion in dating these types.

Support Level – Commenter

I have had dates with people who would always make comments about my underwear. These people annoy the hell out of me. Sometimes it’s very passive-aggressive, and other times they don’t realize how their comments are being taken. I have been into underwear for so long it’s part of my DNA. I usually sit down and talk about this, and if there is an issue. Sometimes it was a communication issue and cleared up rather quickly. Other times it was a big issue for them, which I never understood. I guess they thought it made me less of a man or it’s feminine.

When I had the second type of person, it never lasted. I was not going to put up with comments from someone who was supposed to love me. I mean if they were going to make this comment over underwear, what would they say on something more significant? Usually, after 3-5 dates, they were gone.

Support Level – Negative Nancy

Luckily, I haven’t had many of these in my life. I know we have had readers who are married to these types of people. These are partners that hate the underwear thing and make negative comments about your underwear and body. These people are dropped as soon as possible in my dating world.

Some of our readers who deal with this daily, usually hide their underwear buying and habits. They wear them when the partner is out of town or change when they get to work or the gym. There are only two things you can do in this situation. First, you can stay with it and deal with it. Either by giving up undies or hiding it. Or you can take a break. I don’t think there is any other way to deal with it because it goes much deeper than just underwear.

I’m not a relationship counselor; this is my experience in the world of dating. If you have an experience you want to share, send it to us.

Jocks are super fun to wear! They haven’t been as popular as thongs have been, but there are still some amazing jocks out there. Sukrew makes some of the best jocks on the market. Their roomy pouch is perfect for just about every guy out there.

Here is what they say about the new jocks:

With striking branded straps to match the bold waistband, the Dover Jockstrap takes a classic style to another level. 2cm elastic straps frame the open back while the low-rise front balances exposure with just enough coverage. Sensually soft and silky, while breathable, the polyamide-elastane fabric pouch fits perfectly around your package, shaping and lifting for a dramatically enhanced bulge and supportive feel.

80% Polyamide, 20% Elastane (excluding trims)

The new jocks are named Dover (Blue), Lincoln (Yellow), and Garrison (Red). The new waistband is sporty and fun. Mix that with the straps that match the waistband and it’s super fun. The three have the same amazing pouch you come to love and expect from Sukrew.

The best thing on these jocks is the price, where else can you score three jocks for under $40? Sukrew has always been an affordable brand in the world of underwear.

PAIR: Sukrew Jock
COLORS: Dover (Blue), Lincoln (Yellow), and Garrison (Red)
FABRIC: 80% Polyamide, 20% Elastane (excluding trims)
SIZES: Small – X-Large
COST: $17.73 for one or $37.70 for all three

It’s a tough job, but someone’s got to do it – photographer Armando Adajaris continuing his mission to showcase hot guys in swimwear on the beaches of San Diego.

We’re not complaining. LA boy Chris DiPretelooks fantastic in the bright and bold colors of our Hunk2 range. Armando got some great shots of Chris in the shorts, trunks, and swim-briefs, as well as showing off our reversible styles.

When he’s not modelling swimwear, Chris is a dancer. Check out his Instagram and you’ll see that Chris is a favourite on the podiums of West Hollywood’s clubs as well as the biggest parties across the country.

We took the opportunity to quiz Chris about life as an LA go-go boy.

Aloha Hawaii

Born and raised in Hawaii, Chris seems to be the perfect combination of his Hawaiian, Italian, and Japanese genetic mix.

“I moved from Hawaii to Los Angeles first and foremost to further my professional career in dance…” explains Chris, when we ask what prompted him to move to the city of angels. “But it was also a chance to explore a new city, to explore life, and to meet new people.”

“Hawaii is very beautiful but very, very small socially…” adds Chris. “I wanted to move somewhere close-ish to home, but far enough away to make new friends, new relationships, and new connections.”

Born to dance

“I have definitely always been a dancer…” confirms Chris, when we ask him how he got started in the business. “It stemmed from watching music videos when I was little. I’d learn the choreography and imagine myself performing for stadiums filled with thousands of people. The reality was though that I was just performing for myself in my bedroom.”

“That passion for performing led me to get involved in theatre…” adds Chris. “I was interested in anything that got me on a stage. I also got pretty serious about sports for a while, but I eventually realized that dance was what I was meant to do. Ever since high school, I’ve been taking it seriously as a career. It’s dance that has brought me to where I am today.”

Stepping up onto the podium

“I used to go-go dance back home in Hawaii…” explains Chris, when we ask him about getting started in LA’s nightlife scene. “It’s a great way to make some extra money as well as get some good cardio in. I got introduced to a few promoters when I arrived in LA, and from there I would pick and choose when and where to dance. I’ve also danced at a few circuit parties, as I love the production quality of those events.”

“I’ve recently cut back on my nightlife dancing…” adds Chris. “I really want to focus more on my professional dance career.”

It’s all about the body

“As cliché as it sounds, the gym has to be a priority…” says Chris, when our chat turns to how to balance late nights in the club with the demands of being a professional dancer. “After working out for over 10 years, it becomes very normal to plan your day around a workout, and not the other way around.”

“I always say that my body is my business card…” adds Chris. “Especially in this industry. You have to make sure that you prioritize your health and that you put the best version of yourself out there.”

Finding the right balance

“I don’t normally work in the mornings…” explains Chris, when we push him to share details of his routine. “Not working in the mornings means that I can definitely get enough sleep to balance working, dancing, and working out.”

“When I want to relax, I’m glued to my couch with the A.C. blasting, watching YouTube and snacking on whatever I find…” admits Chris. “I love to snack! I find it relaxing to just have some time to myself to binge-watch and eat eat eat!”

Hitting the beach

Our conversation naturally turned to spending time on the beach. Given that Chris had been trying on all of our different men’s swimwear styles, we were keen to hear which style he normally wears and which of our designs he preferred.

“I actually don’t visit the beach a lot here in Los Angeles…” admits Chris. “I’ve gotten so spoiled with the beautiful, picture-perfect beaches in Hawaii.”

“Back in Hawaii, I was very into board shorts…” confirms Chris, when we push him on his preferred swimwear style. “But, since moving here to Los Angeles, I love a nice, well-fitted brief to wear to the pool.”

Camo has become a mainstay in the world of men’s underwear. It first came into the undies world in the early 2010s. Now camo has had many iterations and colors. When a new pair comes on the scene it’s cool to see what companies do with the pattern.

N2N Bodywear has had camo in the past. Including in singlets, swimwear, underwear and more. They recently retired their camo undies line, but never fear it’s back in two different colors. Back in 2014, I predicted that we would have a resurgence of bikini briefs. These are personally my favorite style and have been since I was in my teens. In the late ’90s and the 2000s, boxer briefs were the mainstream and most skimpy styles disappeared from the mainstream.

However, in the early 2010s, I thought for sure that bikinis were going to be huge again. Granted, they have increased in popularity, and more brands are making them, bikinis aren’t a part of every brand. Something else happened along the way, the rise of the thong. I didn’t expect so many guys to take to the style.

Around 2016, I started to notice more and more straight guys liked thongs. This kind of made sense to me, because a few of the straight readers told me that their wives/GF’s didn’t get jocks at all but didn’t mind thongs. I figured this was the rise in popularity. But that was not it.

In 2017, we started to see more brands create swim thongs. I thought this was great at the time. But, I wondered how many guys would wear them. We had been running the Swim Brief Challenge, and a few guys did it, but the vast majority of nonskimpy swimwear wearing guys still wouldn’t rock them on a beach.

Then in the same year, we had more and more gay guys wearing them as well. Guys like ScruffyGear, SixFootFiveGuy, and UndiesGeek85 were proudly showing their thongs on social media and not giving any fucks about it. This confidence was amazing and awesome. In 2018, formerly Bikinisnthongs did a year of thongs. He wore nothing but thongs for the entire year and posted pictures every day.

Flash forward to the current year, and we have tons of guys wearing them on the beach/lake. The style stans both gay and straight guys. I think more straight guys are passionate about thongs than gay guys (but I believe Scruffy Gear, may have something to say about that.)

One area this year that has seen a rise in swim thongs are the beaches in Chicago. I have seen so many posts that guys are wearing them proudly on the beach, and the numbers appear to be growing.

What made the thong take off so much? Well, I’m not a social scientist, but I do have theories. First, men’s underwear has been so boring for the mainstream. I mean it was boxers or boxer briefs in dull colors. Those offered no support and were less function than form. Guys wanted something that gave them comfort and feels sexy as hell wearing. Next, the wall between what is masc vs. fem is breaking down. Underwear is neither of those or are gay/straight. Guys can now wear pink, spandex and even lace! Lastly, guys want undies that give you ample support. They don’t want to flop around in their pants all day. They want the boys held in place.

These are my opinions on why thongs have taken off more than bikinis. Now, I still have hope that we will see more bikinis in the marketplace, and I think we will see more. It may take some time but be on the lookout!
