Pros:
Nice fabric with stretch
Reliable, everyday pair of trunks, but with a modern, updated style
Bum Chums offers lots of colors and fabrics, so there’s something for everyone

Cons:
Sizing can be a little tricky
The pouch could be a little bigger
Price can get high with currency conversion and shipping

Another pair of Bum Chums for me to try – this time a hipster. I usually stay away from hipsters/trunks/boxer briefs because they always ride up my legs and don’t support the way I like, but I love my BC briefs, so I went in with an open mind.

These were my pair for a short work day and some errands, and I have to say that I liked them from the minute I pulled them on. The fit was right, they had a decent pouch and nice fabric. They also stayed in place really well compared to other trunks I’ve tried, which was a big plus.

Sizing is pretty standard, but they mention that there is a right amount of stretch, so you don’t need to size up. (Fabric is 92% cotton and 8% Elastane) The size chart says a medium fits 32-34, which I would generally say was too big for me as a 31-32, but this pair was just right. If I wanted the fit to be tight, a small would work, but it was nice to have room up front. My biggest complaint with lots of underwear is the lack of room for your package, and since these don’t have an enormous pouch, the medium made up for that.

Overall, another great experience with Bum Chums. I might even be more open to trunks/hipsters after trying theirs. I do have one small complaint, and it’s probably due to my lack of humor, but I don’t love a silly brand name – especially when it’s emblazoned repetitively around my waist. It makes me just a bit self-conscious if my pants ride low or if the band shows when I bend down, etc. Bright colors and patterns are fun, but writing (especially a silly name) just isn’t my thing.

Pair: Bum Chums Hipster
Color: Forrest
Fabric: 92% Cotton, 8% Elastane, 100% Basik
Sizes: Small – X-Large

ADDICTED FETISH MESH GEAR – BOTTOMLESS BRIEFS TRUNKS AND TANK TOPS

What a mess you’re going to make in our latest collection of mesh gear from Addicted Fetish. This collection in black mesh and rubber is a bit more serious than our previous one. Gear up in the bottomless briefs or trunks and slip on the matching tank top to style it up while showing off all your muscles; yes, even the one down below and between your legs. And because the briefs and trunks are bottomless, your ass will also be on full display… can anyone say “target practice?” Here’s the details:

Addicted Fetish Mesh Bottomless Brief:

Fetish and style go hand in hand with this slick n’ sexy underwear. With a front made with a very see-through black net mesh fabric. The center pouch panel is contoured plus the mesh’s four way stretch means your boys will be uncramped, happy, air-conditioned and visible. A center vertical black rubber stripe runs down the center with metal grommet detailing. Wear your dick down and centered for subtle exposure or wear it to the side for the full reveal.

In back, you’re ready for anything coming your way: An upper rubber panel plus two lower mesh panels form an opening framing and revealing your ass. The waistband is black and ultra-plushed with rubber iconic AD logo front and center which hits the fetish look home.

Addicted Fetish Mesh Bottomless Trunk:

Almost identical to the above brief except with a low-rise trunk design. It black, it’s mesh, it’s see-through and it’s revealing both in front and in the rear with it’s open back design. With rubber accents and metal grommet detailing. Also: both the brief and trunk include D rings on the waistband to hook up your favorite harness.

Addicted Fetish Mesh Tank Top:

Fetish and style go hand in hand with this slick n’ sexy tank top designed to show off your body and hard-earned muscles. Made mostly of a black net mesh that drapes perfectly down your body. A black rubber horizontal band running just above your pecs shows them off to perfection. Every move will have the mesh rubbing against your nipples and keeping them hard. In back, it’s classic simplicity with a solid panel of that sexy black mesh revealing your back, shoulders and everything else.

It’s a tank top and it’s mesh so it’s perfect for a hot summer’s day, sweating on the dance floor or slutting your way through your local fetish club.

This pair was furnished for review by Mr Smith. All opinions are that of the reviewer.

Daily Fit – 9
Sizing – 9
Construction/Materials – 8
Styling – 7
Daily Performance – 9
Overall – 8.4

Pros:
A good, updated version of a classic brief
Nice fabric with stretch

Cons:
Limited colors
The pouch could be a little bigger
Not inexpensive and shipped from the UK, so the price can add up

Mr. Smith’s is a brand out of the UK with only two styles (briefs & trunks) and three colors (black, white & gray/silver). This is my second pair of Mr. Smith’s, and I anticipated enjoying them after my initial positive experience with a pair of trunks. I like a good, classic pair of briefs that work as everyday wear and these fit the bill. The cut is between basic briefs and bikini briefs, which I feel would make it appealing for any brief wearer. There is a standard sized waistband with Mr. Smith’s logo repeating all the way around.

I wore these running errands and hanging around the house, but I think they could be worn at the gym, as well. The website doesn’t give exact fabric details, and there wasn’t a tag in the back, but it does mention that the cotton fabric has a touch of Lycra which helps them keep their shape throughout the day. They stayed in place with minimal adjustments necessary.

With a 31-32 waist, I usually wear a medium, and these fit as expected. There is a pouch that’s a bit bigger than average but not as exaggerated or large as some brands these days. I think ordering your actual size would be just fine for most guys.

I enjoyed my second pair of Mr. Smith’s and would recommend giving them a try. For guys who aren’t adventurous with underwear but would like to elevate their gear, these would be perfect. Nothing too risqué or flashy, pleasant and comfortable, and you could be seen changing in the locker room and blend in.

Pair: Mr Smith’s Silver Brief

How did you discover your love of underwear, swim briefs, spandex and gear ?

Ha–a probably wondering the aisles as a closeted little gay boy trying to get glimpse of the bulges.

What are you favorite styles to wear?

Briefs because they comfortable and Jockstraps because they’re sexy

Why did you first start posting pics in underwear?

Sexy sells?  I’d post a photo clothed then post one in underwear and that alwaya seemed to be a lot more popular…so–give the people what they want (I’m a pleaser– I guess).

If you have a partner/husband/wife are the supportive of you sharing your love of underwear?

I have been seeing someone, its still new and we’re feeling it out, but he certainly loves to show off.  When he pulls down his pants I never can predict whats going to be under there.

Do you friends know about your IG and live if undies?

Ha, yes—some unfollowed me.  They said they would get embarrassed to scroll through their feed and have a pic of my crotch or ass show up.  So then I made a more personal account for Friends and Family to follow.

What have been some of the positive things that have happened since you started posting? Did you have any negative experiences?

I’ve had differently companies reach out and send my pairs, so I’ve got to discover and try a lot of new brands.   I got to try underwear I typically would never buy.  For example, I’m not into thongs really, but I Charlie by MZ makes a vegan “leather” thong that looks almost like a jock strap.  Its the 2nd thong I’ve ever put on but looked good and felt fun to wear, so I’ve been able to explore and try new things and am surprised whenever I like something a little outside my standards.

No matter the body type there are always people who will criticize you that you’re too big, too small, too young, too old, how do you deal with those?

As Kesha sings “Don’t let the Bastards get you down.”  I’ve had people tell me all sorts of things–just the other day I had some guy DM me to tell me I looked fat in the last picture I posted.  In general I just presume any harsh comments stem from the person’s of insecurities and try not to take it personally.  I know that I look through Instagram and see men who’s body is better than mine, or bulge is bigger, or butt is…bubblier. Now having taking some of these types photos I can see that a lot of that is due to lighting, angles, digital manipulation, steroids or implants.  In general I try to keep my photos more natural.  I don’t always have abs, some days I do, but most often I don’t.  Before a photo shoot I’ll work out, hardly eat, to look good for the photos–also, during the shoot there’s a lot of flexing while trying to look like your not flexing…anyway, what I’m getting at is that we are comparing ourselves to the unattainable ideals, making us feel inferior.  When we compare, we all feel it and each deal with that in different ways–some folks lash out and choose to troll, while I try to use it to motivate me at the gym or to eat healthy.  But in general we need to try to compare ourselves less.

One thing I have discovered is guys into underwear tend to be awesome guys. Have you made any friends that you may not have met otherwise

I do love attending underwear parties or when bars host jock strap nights.  It seems like a good equalizer and there like a nice brotherhood once everyone gets comfortable.  I’ve met tons great like minded guys at in such environments.

What is your favorite color of Underwear?

Hmm…Blue or Black…or Black & Blue.

Lastly, What is your favorite social media to post on? And what is your name on there?

I guess I’d have to say Instagram, though when I first downloaded it (years ago) I thought it was just for photo editing, I didn’t realize it was for photo sharing. Why I thought a dick pic needed a filter I’ll never know, but I filtered it (probably to send to someone on Scruff) not realizing it was posting publicly for everyone to see.  This was about 8 or 9 years ago—before they were such censoring vigilantes because that dick pic stayed up there for over a week.  I had no idea it was there until a friend of mine from Italy called, (she never calls, so when she did I knew something was up), to say “you know you have your dick posted up on instagram, right?” Haha maybe that was my initial boost of popularity Anyway I immoderately deleted it—whoops! There my handle is  @TheGayGaston but I prefer Patreon.com/TheGayGaston  at least on Patreon I can post what I want without fear off having it reported or taken down, I can run polls, post longer videos etc.

Spandex gym wear is coming back full force. It’s been a while since we saw guys rocking the tights in the gym. One company that is fully embracing the tights and in great designs is LED Queens. They are making some of the most innovative and colorful tights on the market.

Their newest is the Quetzalcoatl tights. They have a white background with a blue/purple design. I love this, it gives me such an 80’s feel, which is a good thing. In the 80’s guys wore spandex to the gym in colors and prints. Glad to see it’s back

Pair: LED Queens Quetzalcoatl
Color: As seen
Fabric: 82% polyester, 18% spandex
Sizes: X-Small – X-Large
Price: $39.99

Why do you love photography? What made you want to pursue a career photography?

People who know me say I never shut up and can talk underwater, I love photography because it’s my conversation with someone. If the subject is captured right, then the photograph will communicate in the same way to the viewers as well. The camera freezes the fragment of the time I have spent with that person. The camera has been central in my life in making friends with people from different walks of life.

To use a cliché I have always been creative, sometimes that works and sometimes it doesn’t. Photography is a medium that is difficult it is taking something 3D and turning into 2D and drawing peoples eye to it.  I have been lucky in that what I like to photograph people like to look at, so people have been receptive to my work, this has spurred me to push harder and take more images.

Why did you focus on the men’s underwear/swimwear industry?

The human form is a beautiful thing both male and female. I was and still am inspired by legendary photographers like Bruce Webber and Max Dupain. I like to do things differently and from a different perspective, I like taking an image style that everyone knows and trying to find a new way to photograph it. Plus growing up in Australia we can photograph beachwear all year round, we don’t really have winter.

Do you have you had a Memorable shoot?  Was it good or bad??

This may sound strange, but I actually remember all my shoots and I always try and make them fun and enjoyable, but early on in my career I photographed a guy in shirt and tie underneath a water feature in the centre of Sydney. The model told me to turn around and I thought it was the rangers or police coming but it was bus of Japanese tourists who stopped and were taking photos of us. It was a tad ironic.

How do you prepare for a shoot? What is your workflow in the creative process?

I like to get to know a model first and see what they liked, ideas/concepts and what they are comfortable in doing. I then think about the product and what locations would match it or juxtapose it. I often see the model as the support act to the light and location. That way the model fits in perfectly and the image works.

What has been your wildest idea for a shoot and did you get to execute it?

I have been very lucky and had guys believe in me and my vision and have allowed me to do some pretty cool concepts. I have one for a gallery show that I did that I’m turning into a book where I poured milk over naked men. Another I had a model in a bathtub full of candy, lollypops etc, I have had guys nude hanging from cliffs, or walking in their undies along a road in front of Big Ben.

What do you look for in the models you use?

This will sound like a dating app but I look for confidence and a good personality. I don’t like it when a model poses, I like the model to be them, natural and that’s what I try and capture.  I don’t tolerate diva or attitude.

Do you use a regular set of models or do you like to mix it up?

I have both. I find that when you worked with a guy a lot you build up so much trust, respect and friendship and images are always better after a few sessions and you can push things further. But I also like working with new guys and how they bring in their ideas, creativity and excitement.

Shoots can be anything from boxer briefs to thongs, how do you make models feel comfortable in whatever you shoot?

I engage in a model’s interests, tell them stupid stories about me and try and get them to have a laugh, that is usually what makes them comfortable.  I’m very respectful, while a model might be in underwear/speedo/nude in front of the camera and being directed, once the camera is down, I always turn away from the model when they change and give them a towel.  Plus, I have been lucky and worked with a few exhibitionists who have dropped all their clothes before I even have the lens cap off. And sometimes it been harder for me to get the model to put clothes back on at the end of a shoot.

What are some tips you give models in order to be comfortable in front of the camera whether as a new model or for underwear/swimwear shoots?

The tips I would give a guy interested in modelling would be to:

  1. Train like a demon
  2. Workout what will set you apart from another model,
  3. Work on confidence
  4. Build a network and talk to other models and photographers
  5. Have a shoot kit ready – towel, flip flops, clothes, makeup touch up kit
  6. Be good to your skin

Any tips for people wanting to get into photography and specifically men’s underwear/swimwear?

I won’t lie its a tough gig photography, with the interaction of digital camera, plus everyone with a smart phone and an instagram account thinks they are a photographer. The best tips I could give are:

  1. Get a good camera
  2. Learn how to compose images
  3. Attend workshops
  4. Work with photographers
  5. Take your time
  6. Practice on anyone to start

What are your interests away from the camera?

You will usually find me in nature covered in dirt. The more I live in a city like London the more important it is for me to be hands on in nature, so I volunteer in woodlands and parks, planting, weeding and rubbish collection. You will also find most of my space time is location scouting and trying to get into areas I’m not supposed to be in, nothing illegal, just lost officer I swear.

Ratings

  • Daily Fit – 9
  • Sizing – 9
  • Construction/Materials – 10
  • Styling – 10
  • Daily Performance – 9
  • Overall – 9.4

Pros:

  • Great material
  • Sexy but practical fit
  • Fun print if you like playful undies

Cons:

  • Back can ride up a bit
  • Would prefer a simpler waistband and other prints (IMO – this wouldn’t be a con for everyone)

Debriefed has a website that sells several brands but also have their own line.  This pair is part of their Cartoon Collection, inspired by 70s and 80s cartoons.  The collection comes in briefs, jocks, hipsters and even a singlet.  There are a few different cartoon/comic prints you can choose from, as well.

These were my pair for a travel day because I immediately loved the feel of the fabric and the cut was great, as well.  I’ve never been a cartoon or comic book fan so I might prefer these in a solid or stripe, but the print is fun and sure to stand out in your underwear drawer.  The elastic around the legs gives nice contrast and the waistband is your standard size and comfortable.  I do wish brands wouldn’t always have their names written on the waist repetitively because I do prefer a simpler look.  The pouch is accommodating, the back provides full coverage but is slim enough to keep them sexy.  There is a center seam in the back which I think helps with definition but it can ride up a bit, which I actually think is kind of sexy, but might annoy some people.

The fabric is 81% Polyester and 19% Elastane which means they are very stretchy and super smooth.  Cotton has it’s place but I really love a silky smooth fabric when it comes to underwear.

Sizing seemed right on with a medium fitting just right for me (31-32).  These have plenty of stretch but if you’re on the upper end of the size range, Debriefed suggests going up a size.

These were a nice surprise and I will be checking out more briefs from Debriefed, especially in this material.  They were really smooth and show off your body in a flattering way, which is great and not always the case for a solid, everyday pair.  Give these a shot and feel like a superhero!
