Osgon’s Recommendation:  A Strong Buy!

As some readers know, Andrew Christian not long ago shifted manufacturing from Taiwan to China.  This resulted in sizing problems.  More specifically, leg bands from products made in China were much tighter than those coming from Taiwan-based plants.  Garments made in China also appeared to have slightly smaller pouches.  Testing of this brief (manufactured in China) suggests AC has corrected those sizing issues.

To make sure past manufacturing problems had been ameliorated, I tested this brief by washing, line-drying, wearing, washing, line-drying and wearing again on two different days.  Both days involved 16+ hours of wearing the garment.  The leg bands held true to size during the second wearing and weren’t overly restrictive.  The overall fit of the brief was perfect (including the pouch) and the colorful print did not bleed or noticeably fade after being washed twice.

As is true with most AC “almost naked” pouch products, this tagless undergarment was very comfortable.  The fabric contains a very comfortable blend of 90% polyamide and 10% spandex.  The fabric’s blue body has a ½” repeating ghost character.  The 1¼” black waistband perfectly centers the Andrew Christian moniker up front and repeats it around back.

Andrew Christian’s website has sold out of its stock in all sizes.  This brief is still available at some brick-and-mortar outlets such as Tapelenders in Dallas.  An internet search reveals a few online stores haven’t yet emptied their stocks.

Because this brief was so comfortable – and because AC appears to have fixed the sizing problems for its made-in-China items – I recently ordered a few similar AC products from its website.  Stayed tuned to UNB for updates

Growing up I’ve always had a passion for cute and fun underwear. It wasn’t until I was about 17 that I realized there were much more options aside from Hanes briefs and boxers. The excitement I felt when I purchased my first pack of thongs is a feeling I will never forget. It was a brand Target used to carry called BVD. They were very comfortable and the fit was amazing. From that moment on I was hooked on wearing thongs and other sexy underwear.

Moving forward a few years I began to notice the cute patterns and fabrics that women’s underwear were made of. I wondered why I could never find men’s underwear in mesh or lace unless I went to an adult store and even then the choices were unflattering at best. It wasn’t until I met my fiance who also shared a love for underwear almost as much as I did. We would always talk about cute underwear and how women’s underwear and lingerie were always so much sexier than what was out available for men. On my birthday he surprised me with my first pair of panties and they were so sexy that I tried them on instantly. I not only felt so cute but also very sexy in a taboo sort of way. A feeling much different than I would get when I would wear men’s underwear.
For years I have always mixed masculine underwear with feminine lingerie and panties in the privacy of our home. It wasn’t until recently with the support of my fiance that I wanted to share this love of mixing the two with the rest of the world by creating my Instagram account. I was very nervous about putting myself out there like that as I didn’t know the reactions I would get. I was terrified that the feedback would be so negative it would make me want to rethink my love of underwear and lingerie.
I checked my phone constantly to see what reactions I would get and to my surprise the feedback was positive and people loved it.
To be able to mix fabrics such as lace, mesh, lingerie with everyday clothes makes me not only feel better about myself but it empowers me to want to continue to do what I love and be able to share that with others as others have shared that with me. I try to be unique by mixing my everyday geekiness into my photos to give a little insight into my everyday life. To put it plainly, I am just your average Joe. I love video games, movies, comics, working out, and above all else underwear. Whether it be men’s thongs, jocks or women’s panties, and lingerie.
I personally don’t believe that underwear should be confined to either sex but rather be embraced and accepted by both men and women. I personally love seeing other men in panties, lingerie, thongs, and jockstraps. I merely appreciate the male body in all its beauty but something about seeing a body in some sexy underwear just adds that much more to the beauty of it all.
I hope that anyone who follows my Instagram who is curious about trying something new and different should not feel ashamed or embarrassed but rather feel powerful and sexy. If we are confined to societies gender constraints about what masculine and feminine should be rather than what we can make of it than we are not living up to our full potential.
If I can inspire just one person to be able to embrace both their masculinity and femininity than I feel I have done my part.
Sincerely

Hey everyone, and welcome to another edition of Show us your Drawers, where we take a look at a UNB writer or reader’s underwear drawer. Today we have our first reader submission, from Steve. Here is what he has to say:

“Here’s my drawer. I’m up to 43 pairs organized by category of course. Jocks are on the left, then g-strings, thongs, bikinis toward the middle, briefs and finally trunks on the far right. As you can see, I try and mix it up with a variety of colors and patterns.

There are 15 different brands represented, with the top three being Gregg Homme, C-IN2 and JM. My current favorite pair is definitely the teal Grip thong from Gregg Homme. It’s got a really sexy strappy cut-out on one half and detachable buckles.
Love the blog, keep up the great work!”
Thanks so much Steve! Want to be like Steve and show off your collection? Send an email to info@underwearnewsbriefs.com with  Drawer in the subject line, along with a picture of your underwear drawer and a paragraph or two about your underwear collection and/or storage system. We look forward to seeing your drawer!
French label L’ Homme Invisible released a new line of underwear for men made from a fine Italian fabric in masculine cuts. Synonymous to luxury and style in France, the label has been present in the industry for over 30 years offering a unique mix of innovation and comfort. The Velours Mystique collection comprises hipsters, boxer briefs, the brand’s trademark V Boxers, strings and undershirts in two colour ways: burgundy red and ice blue. The outstanding fabric L’ Homme Invisible chose for this line is sheer and luxurious, elevated with black velvet patterns in floral motifs. All the garments feature elegant black detailing and very discreet branding.

The campaign for this collection was photographed in a private residence in the centre of Paris by photographer and owner of the brand Sandeep Sahni with model Jeremy Douille. The lush backdrop accentuates the luxurious feel of the garments that will look like precious jewels on a man’s body.

Joe Snyder is a favorite of many of our readers. It’s probably one of the most often mentioned by thong lovers. They have developed a secret formula for making the perfect thong. The perfect thong is something many of you are after as well. Most thong lovers on the site prefer the smaller ones. I think the skimpier the better. Today’s Thong Thursday, is made for you.

The new Sock It line emphasizes the pouch. This isn’t a bad thing in a thong. I have seen several readers of UNB posting pics of them in this thong. It’s super sexy in all the pics posted. Joe Snyder site says this thong is made with an enhancing pouch. One that is made to make your package look bigger. This is definitely true. The design of the pouch is to boost what you have and make it eye-catching! The site says it makes you more confident. We think all underwear you love gives you this, and this pair is not an exception to that rule.

The waistband is pretty minimal. I honestly don’t know the difference between this pair and the g-string. They look almost identical. If we are playing “What style is this?” I would go with a g-string from the look of the front. In the back, unlike a g-string, it does have fabric rather than a simple string. The material is a nylon lycra, similar to the other fabrics in the Joe Snyder line up.

The description also says you can wear it to the gym. I don’t know about you but Its not a pair I would wear to the gym. Not because it won’t pass our “Gym Factor”, rather it will show off too much when I am working out. That’s just my opinion and you can be the judge for yourself at your own gym.

This is a pair I want to try. I LOVE the Pride Frame line and this line seems super fun. Make sure you check it out in the brief and g-string as well.

BRAND: Joe Snyder
PAIR: Sock It Thong
COLORS: Black, Blue, Pink, Purple, Red, White, Yellow
FABRIC: Nylon Lycra
SIZES: Small – XL
COST: $30.00

Today I thought I would profile something different. A pair of boxer briefs! It’s not every day we do that. I know most of our readers tend to go for smaller styles. However, N2N Bodywear makes some of the best boxer briefs on the market. This is the Mojave Spring boxer. Available in 3 colors that pop! Also, they know how to make a pouch work well in Boxer briefs. Retails for $23.00 on the N2N Site.

I am in the market for new undies. But, reading an underwear blog aren’t we always in the market for amazing undies? After my visit to Skivvies in Dallas, I wanted to get some new undies that would be amazing! So I peruse the usual sites and see what strikes my eye.  It’s either feast or famine when I shop. This time,  after being on a few sites there is everything I want. Narrowing down my decisions is difficult.

Shopping online I usually just start adding things to the cart and will sort it out at the end. So after looking for 30-40 minutes, I open my cart to see the damage. As I opened the Cart it was over $700 in underwear. I thought there must be an error in the cart. Like a few pairs had quantities of 2 or 3. After going down the list, nope everything was single pairs. At this point, I was like, NO WAY I have this much here. But I did.

I had to rethink my shopping. I love underwear but no way I can afford $700 in undies! I decided to be strategic about this shopping. Specifically, get pairs I can review on UNB, not just buy undies for the sake of buying them. We cover a ton of brands we never get to review. After this revelation, I cleared out the cart and decided to start over.

Now I’m looking at some of the brands we don’t get great gear from on a regular basis. Brands like Obviously, Mundo Unico, Ergowear, aussieBum, John Sievers and more. Yes, all these do have great pouches! This is one of the most important things to me in underwear. One pair I am thinking of getting as well is one from the Waistband Post the other day. Can you guess which one it is?

The Spartan Race – Hong Kong’s longest, muddiest, and most thrilling obstacle course – is back with a vengeance, and so is BWET Swimwear! Last April, BWET – the original creator of high-quality city style swimwear for men – surprised thousands of Spartan racers by running a DJ shower station.

BWET Swimwear, the largest sponsor of the Hong Kong 2017 Spartan Race can’t wait to get out there. Can you?

We have two different guys. Those who love waistbands (like myself) and those who do not like them. I am firmly in the camp of having fun and amazing waistbands. Logos and names don’t bother me at all. Sometimes the waistband is the reason why I buy a pair. It can really set a pair off. This post we will talk about which brands consistently have amazing waistbands. This is also, is a primer on what brands not to buy if you hate waistbands. The brands that really outdo themselves on designing of waistbands are Andrew Christian, aussieBum and 2EROS/SupaWear.

Andrew Christian

Andrew Christian has consistently created amazing waistbands. Most of his lines carry different kinds of bands. Sometimes they include the name of  the brand and other times it’s the line. Lines include Trophy Boy, Blow, and Massive just to name a few. One of my favorite bands he has created lately is the FUKR line. The black band with small writing in orange. It’s different and fun to me! I think Andrew spends as much time on the waistbands as he does the underwear!

aussieBum

aussieBum has bands that are for branding. They always have the aB name on it. I can’t recall off the top of my head when they last did a band that didn’t. aussieBum can have classic bands like the Classic Original. This basically their take on the classic brief. The only thing classic is the design. The colors and fabric are super awesome. My favorite brand by them right now is on the Grizzly line. It’s a chunky thick band that has aB written in BIG letters. I love the design as well! Watch out I maybe reviewing them soon.

2EROS/SupaWear

I think 2EROS sees the waistband as an extension of the underwear. It is designed to complement and sometimes match the underwear. Every detail with them is thought out and nothing is left to chance. The newer underwear has the name of the brand and sometimes line. The one line that I think I like the best is the Vavoom line. The brand matches the color of the underwear. It’s genius!

Underwear waistbands are almost like an art form. I’m not knocking any brands for not doing them. They take work and money to create.  Give me an amazing pouch, incredible fabric, and no waistband and I”m still sold. The waistband is something extra for me! I’m curious are you guys for waistbands?

Over the years we have always said guys need classic underwear in their drawers. However, over the last few years, the underwear market for men is changing. It’s making me think do we need to have classic underwear or just rock whatever we want to no matter where we go, such as the gym or doctor. Now, if Classic underwear is your jam, keep wearing it and buying it. This is directed to guys who aren’t regular wearers of classic underwear.

My definition of classic underwear is Fuller cut, such as briefs, trunks and boxer briefs, in black, white, grey, or navy blue in color. Subtle waistband, good fabric and designed well. This is not the big box six packs. Just well-made underwear with a more conservative look.

Take a few minutes to partake in our poll. We will reveal the results later this week.

There are two things I love. The first is the original Bike Jockstrap and the second is Jockstrap Central’s, Model Trent. He has been a favorite of mine for years. In recent years he’s been on the site less and less. Like all good things, all things must come to an end eventually. But, here is a gallery of pics of him in the jock. This is what Jockstrap Central says:

They’re back and Trent’s Back! It’s the original Bike Performance Jockstraps now being manufactured by Meyer (the original European Bike distributor) both in 2 inch versions as well as swimmers in all the original colors. And who else to come in to model these awesome jocks but fan favorite and fitness guru Trent? Afterall, he was the original model for most of the old Bike Performance jockstraps.
