Men’s Underwear

cat_fw16_underwear68271Nasty Pig was once a fetish brand. No longer, I think they have ventured out in the mainstream. They are showing at the shows in Vegas and making underwear you can see on every guy. Don’t worry they didn’t abandon their fetish roots. There are still many things that is still considered fetish. Including harnesses, jocks and more.

The newest line is the Slash line. Made up of a brief and jock in two different colors. The two colors are blue and Red. Made out of their cotton ribbed fabric that is one of their popular fabrics. Each one has the Nasty Pig waistband. Which has the Nasty Pig name in front with stripes going around the brand.

The brief has a cool design. In the blue, the pouch has the blue fabric and the rest is in black. The red has a black pouch with red around the sides and back. I liked that it’s not the same in each color. They changed it up a bit in the design process. I want to say good job Nasty Pig

The jocks have the same type of design as the briefs. The jock has a stripe down the middle of the middle of the pouch. The blue has the blue stripe in the middle. The red has the black stripe down the middle. It’s a small touch that I think is awesome.

Nasty Pig did something creative in this line. It may look simple and basic. However, they paid attention to how the colors are put together. I say great job Nasty Pig! Keep up the amazing work!

Also, if you have been after their Union Suits, they are back in stock. They won’t last long though. They are already sold out of the Black. Hurry and don’t miss them. You’ll have to wait till next year

COLORS: Red or Blue
FABRIC: Cotton Ribbed Fabric
SIZES: Small – X-Large
COST: $29 for both styles

aussieBum is no stranger to making sexy underwear. Some of the past pairs we have loved are the Gladiator, BillyBoy and more. However, they haven’t made a lot of jocks in the past. They make more briefs and hipsters. If you are a fan of aussieBum and jocks, you are in luck with the new range Lasher.

Lasher is a range featuring two styles an Xposed brief and jockstrap. It’s their answer to the jockbrief. But, with the aussieBum twist! It’s made with a breathable fabric that makes it great for an active guy. This could be worn to the gym, running or any other athletic activity. A lot of the underwear aussieBum creates is made to be worn anywhere. It’s made for the gym but can be worn to the office

The Lasher line is made out of a 90% Polyester/10% Elastane fabric. This is what gives it the breathability and comfort. The colors offered are Blue, White and Red. The colors of the Australian flag. The waistband is a red aussieBum band. Unlike other lines each pair in this range has the red band. It looks great against the blue and white.

The jocks that aussieBum makes have small leg straps. They aren’t the traditional 1 inch straps but about 1/4 inch. Many fashion jocks have smaller leg straps. I think this is a perfect addition to the jock. This I would consider more of a fashion jock. Not because of the design, but less and less guys are wearing jocks to the gym or be active in.

If you’re looking for a great range for working out and being comfy, check out the Lasher line from aussieBum. It’s out now!

trick-front-alex_1024x1024We are entering the season of doom and gloom! Well, not really but we are entering the holiday seasons. Halloween is first up. On top of the amazing costumes some of you do, did you know that you can wear Halloween-themed underwear?

I admit there is some underwear that is holiday themed and it’s horrible. Think of any type of boxers sold at any big box retailer. Other than being boxers, they are always over the top and more joke than everyday wear.

BodyAware has released the Trick or Treat Brief and thong. This is Halloween underwear done the BodyAware way. The fabric is black with an orange metallic overlay of Halloween pumpkins, stars, and bats. It’s a fun print without being too over the top. I personally love the metallic orange over the black. It’s very Halloween!

The brief is a bigger cut brief. Many of the briefs they sell are cut more like bikinis. This is more the size of a trunk, rather than brief. The orange trim on the leg gives it a bit more of the Halloween spirit. The waistband is covered in the black fabric. I like this touch because orange at the top would be a bit over too far.

The thong has the same fabric as the brief. It also has the orange trim around the legs. I’m not sure about the back, its not shown in the pictures. BodyAware knows how to make some great thongs!

These would be pairs you wear out that you want to be seen. Maybe riding up while wearing a pair of low rise jeans. But thats jus my opinion. Pick any spooky occasion to wear these this Halloween.

BRAND: BodyAware

PAIR: Trick-or-Treat Brief Thong

COLORS: As Seen

FABRIC: 80% Nylon/20% Spandex

SIZES: Small – XX-Large

COST:  $19.99 /$19.99

does-mainstream1I was talking to a new potential UNB guy this weekend. He mentioned that he was reading one of the big sites. They interviewed women on what underwear they want to see their guys in, and it was boxers and boxer briefs. We both went “HUH?” Being gay has made this easier. It’s more socially acceptable that we can wear anything we want. Becuase after all underwear is gay (said with implied sarcasm).

I have talked with so many guys, gay/straight/bi, that love underwear. They all want the same thing. Something that is fashionable, fun and makes them feel great. It’s an extension of their personality as much as their clothes or hair style. Sometimes it’s even more of a state because of a conservative environment. Underwear is the one area they can express themselves.

The US Mainstream media reinforces the notation that underwear is about function, not form. Underwear is something that is to be made fun of let’s not even get into the whole “you’re gay” for liking underwear thing. We are striving to fight this labeling. We have readers who are gay, straight and bi.

When a major outlet talks about underwear they always show boxer briefs and trunks. Few rarely show briefs, jocks or thongs. It’s always conservative colors and styles. So, I do believe that the media reinforces the “you must wear this type of underwear.” If you don’t wear what everyone else is wearing there is something wrong with you. You need to fit in with the rest of society.

We disagree with this big time. Underwear is one area we can truly express ourselves in a personal way. We can wear exactly what makes us feel sexy and gives us confidence. That is the point most mainstream media leaves out. They look at underwear as a necessity, not a way to express exactly who you are!

Over the course of my 8 years doing this blog I have met so many guys. We all want the same thing. Underwear that fits great and makes us feel sexy. Look at the make up of our guys! Sorry for the rant. I just saw something that just pissed me off in the media and had to vent.

coral-mesh-alex_1024x1024BodyAware is no stranger to making super sexy and revealing undies. Fabrics such as satin, silk and mesh. Each pair is crafted to make the wearer feel as sexy as possible. More of you guys have been discovering BodyAware and loving their take on men’s underwear. They firmly believe underwear should be fun and make you feel amazing.

One of the newest is the Fierce Mesh Brief and Tank. It’s not the sheer mesh, but an industrial mesh. Industrial mesh looks like a fabric that has holes cut out in it. The holes are bigger than typical mesh. Sports mesh and others have smaller holes. Other brands have made undies out of this material. It’s surprisingly comfortable.

The Fierce line comes in Coral and Neon Pink. Both colors are perfect for this line. I think these type of mesh pairs are better in brighter colors, rather than traditional ones. The mix of the black solid fabric and waistband accents the pair very nicely.

The briefs have a great pouch. The material will stretch to fit any size guy. The pouch design is a low hanging pouch design. The back is a full back as well. You won’t have to worry about a slim or thong back. Although, I think this pair would look awesome as a thong!

Included in the line is the Fierce Tank. Made of the same mesh material as the brief. It’s the perfect matching pair for the briefs. Designed with athletic styling and black trim that matches the briefs. This could be worn out to a night of dancing or just hanging out at the beach.

BodyAware is making some really fun and sexy gear lately. Like a lot of you guys, we are loving what they are doing. We will have a lot more from them soon.

14237757_1747675682166553_666269117212424475_nIt seems like only a few month I was having lunch with Eric Turner in Vegas. He was developing the Oryx brand of underwear. I have known Eric because he was a model at Magic back in the day. We decided to do a follow-up interview with Eric to talk about the last two years.

UNB: Thanks for Taking the Time to talk with use. What have you learned over the last two years doing Oryx? Any surprises?

Eric– The biggest surprise to me has been all the positive feedback we’ve gotten from people. When I’ve taken underwear to shoots, when the models put them on they’re usually very surprised at how comfortable the fabric is. They put them on and they always look really surprised. That’s the surprise to me, that as many different brands are on the market, that guys are still surprised to find quality underwear that’s comfortable.

UNB: Has the dream of creating the line lived up to your expectations?

Eric– Oh, absolutely. I mean, I wouldn’t mind selling the company for hundreds of millions of dollars by now. But I’ll 14462956_1755823271351794_4583641023703027135_nsettle with the modest growth and exposure we’ve received.

UNB: Who is Oryx designed for? What kind of guy?

Eric– Our ideal customer is a guy who feels just as comfortable wearing a tuxedo as he does exploring nature. He’s a guy that’s not worried about attaching labels to himself, but appreciates nice things. Someone who can have fun in a tuxedo, but still make jeans and a t-shirt look sophisticated. And obviously anyone who wants to make their junk comfortable. ha

UNB: Oryx has been a very classic collection of underwear. Have you thought about adding new styles, colors or prints?

Eric– I have many, many ideas of things we’ll do as we grow the brand. But all in time. Our brand motto is “Bold. Sophisticated. Style.” So as we design new styles, the idea is to keep that classic look and feel, in a bold and sophisticated package.

UNB: On that same note have you thought of doing a line of workout wear? You are one of the most amazing fitness models and it would seem to be a great fit.

Eric– Stay tuned. 😉

UNB: You occasionally show pictures of you and your Husband Morné in the underwear. We had a few guys ask why aren’t you the face of the brand?

Eric– I didn’t want the brand to be about me, exclusively. It’s Oryx, not the Eric Turner brand. I can obviously post pics in the brand all day, but i wanted guys to look at the brand and see many different people in it, so they could imagine 13770414_1728679224066199_4913228758241727122_nthemselves in it, not just associate the brand with me. And the brand is going to be associated with me no matter what, but I didn’t want the brand to be about me. It’s a high-quality underwear line, and I wanted that to be able to speak for itself.

UNB: If you could pick any famous person or sports start, who would you like to see model your underwear?

Eric– Henry Cavill. He’s handsome and intelligent. Our brand is so much more about how our models carry themselves than just what they look like. And he’s someone who carries himself in a way that makes him seem so much more refined than the typical hot/handsome guy. Either him or David Beckham for the same reason, but I thought he was too easy of an answer.

UNB: What is on the horizon for Oryx?

Eric – Oryx Athletic Wear. 😉

We love Max Emerson. Not because he looks amazing in underwear. Also, not because he’s funny and entertaining. But, he’s doing some great things out on the internet. If you tie in undies so be it, we stand behind that. His latest video is about his tour of NYC with CJ Koegel from the Real World on MTV about 10 years ago, but seems like 12 (watch the video).

Why do we love Max? First he shows a love of underpants! He’s done a lot in his underwear, both modeling and YouTube. He’s just funny. All his videos show his personality and can make you laugh. This one had hide and seek in the park, rides the subway and finds fans of CJ.

maxism-banner

He also has his own line at Related Garments. Each pair sold $5 goes towards editing his movie, Hooked, and submitting it to film festivals. The movie, Hooked, if you haven’t heard is about raising awareness for  LGBT youth homlessness. Which is a cause everyone who reads this blog can get behind.

Not only do you get the underwear but two pairs of matching sox. In the words of Max, you get “underpants and matching socks.” Max knows a bit about underwear for being an international underpants model. You may also remember that he did the video series “How to be an underpants super model.”

The underwear for one pair and two socks is $28. The colors are available are black and grey. Also, you can get a set of three for $59.

We love undies and why not buy a pair that gives something back to the world. To get these pairs go to the Related Garments site. And buy a pair of Max’s underpants! Then become the next great underpants supermodel of the world and be in one of Max’s videos!

go-to-great-lengthswith-2xistIt has long been a favorite brand of mine, 2xist. Now they are out with a longer version of its signature boxer briefs. 2xist has always had great briefs and trunks, but now you can add a longer length to that. It seems longer is a trend many people are taking part in now.

For many working out going longer is something they want. Tights are a big thing in working out so it makes sense for underwear brands to go longer with their product. This new line is being called the “24 collection.”

The 24 collection comes in three different styles. There is the 24 Tencel Stretch Boxer Brief, 24 Modal Boxer Brief, and 24 Pima Stretch Boxer Brief. All three styles comes tagless, with the original contour pouch that 2xist is known for. They are all made with performance fabric and the 9-inch inseam. This allows enough length for the underwear to not ride up.

The24 Tencel Stretch Boxer Brief is made with 96% Tencel and 4% Spandex. What is Tencel you may ask…I know I did. It is a sustainable fabric, regenerated from wood cellulose. It is similar to rayon and bamboo. But is said to be the most environmentally friendly of the regenerated fabrics. This style comes in lead (gray) and black colors, both of which of a bright neon green 2xist on the waistband. These pairs sell for $36 a pair.

The24 Modal Boxer Brief is made with 95% modal and 5% spandex. The Micro Modal fabric is made for a silky stretch feeling. The pairs come in Cobalt Blue, Black, and Navy. The waistband corresponds to each of the colors so they blend in exactly. These pairs will cost you $30 for a pair.

The24 Pima Stretch Boxer Brief is made with 95% cotton and 5% Spandex. The pairs come in black, which has white writing on the waistband, and pro blue which also has white writing. These pairs sell for  $30 a pair.

This pair was furnished by Andrew Christian for review

Rating: Overall 9/10

  • Daily Fit: 9/10
  • Sizing: 9/10
  • Construction: 9/10
  • Styling: 9/10
  • Daily Performance: 9/10

Pros:

  • Classic color scheme
  • Soft and comfortable material
  • Great pouch

Cons:

  • Some may not like the BLOW on the waistband
  • The pouch is supportive but not ergonomically designed. Looser fit
  • More of a fashion jock

UNB Tim’s Recommendation: It’s a great jock for running errands or a day at work. I am not sure I would wear it to the gym or active. I could see it under a suit or a night out. The fabric will be something I think most guys will love. This will be a pair I plan to wear often.

One of the pairs we received from Andrew Christian is the BLOW Gilded Jock. It is one I really wanted to try. I really liked the look of the jock and the fabric. The previous review of the FUKR Net Brief, I hoped it lived up to or even exceeded that review.

The jock didn’t disappoint. It was probably one of the most comfortable pairs I have tried from Andrew Christian. The pouch is made out of 95% Cotton 5% Spandex blend. It was super soft. It really felt awesome on. The pouch was supportive and not too tight. A lot of sports jocks can be super tight. This one let things fall naturally and comfortably.

I wore the BLOW Gilded Jock on a very hot day. In Atlanta, we were blessed with 90-degree weather in September. This was a great choice for the day. I wore it to a job where I was outside and in the car a lot. The jocks material and design kept me cool. I was really happy about that. One design element I really like is the strap design. It’s not a strap sewn onto the waistband. The design has a solid fabric sewn into the waistband. Then the leg straps attached. This kept the straps in place.

The sizing is pretty spot on. Again, I never had an issue with Andrew Christian sizing. They have had a consist ant sizing over the years. Just make sure you double check the size guide for the exact sizes. The XL I received fit pretty well.

Lastly, is the design. I really like the solid black with gold trim. The center seam is gold as well as the waistband BLOW writing. Black and Gold is a classic combination. It also comes in white and red.

alexander-cobb-jockstrap-shyJocks are always popular. One of the recent additions to the Jock club is Alexander COBB®. They have been known for great underwear and swimwear. The new line is available in 5 different colors. Jocks are no longer just white and black. It’s expected that they come in bright and fun colors.

This is what Alexander COBB® says about the new collection of jocks:

Originally invented as an underwear for bike jockeys, jockstrap cut has become more and more popular those days. Alexander COBB® jockstrap combines sport function-based design with modern fashion trends. Great for athletes and for active men who choose to wear them as daily underwear. Great fit and bottom lift.

As a part of Alter Ego Collection 2016, jockstraps can be purchased online and in all brand’s sales points from Caribbean to Australia. Besides jockstrap called Libido (different jockstrap cut), made from the combination of red and black cotton, with black strips and black elastic band, we are introducing 5 other colors – Innocent in white, Shy in pink, Envy in green, Hot in red, and Sweet in orange. Andrew Christian furnished the Almost Naked Steel Tagless Brief for review.

Rating: 8.6/10

  • Daily Fit: 7/10
  • Sizing: 8/10
  • Construction: 10/10
  • Styling: 10/10
  • Daily Performance: 8/10

Pros: Great stripe, soft Fabric, amazing cut.

Cons: Pouch is cut smaller than normal Almost Naked line.

SALVATORE Recommendation: I have been eyeballing this brief since Andrew Christian released it a while back. Andrew Christian’s Almost Naked line is what caused me to seriously consider anatomical pouches back in 2011. Since then, I always try and scope out his new products. Andrew Christian always produces superior products.

90045_brief_4_copyI do believe that every man should have the finest that the industry has to offer. Because I enjoy the anatomical pouch, I consider myself a student of the evolution of ergonometry (Yes, I just made that word up)! Andrew Christian is definitely one of the top producers of anatomical pouches to date. This brief took me by surprise. The pouch was much tighter and more restrictive than the typical Andrew Christian Almost Naked anatomical pouch. I found the pouch binding and almost uncomfortable. This brief’s pouch finds it’s best use in the gym or playing sports that need restriction in the crotch area of the underwear.

The fabric is amazing. I am not sure how Andrew Christian has perfected a cotton/lycra blend that feels so great. The lightweight airy feel of the brief truly lives up to it’s namesake—Almost Naked. I could barely feel the fabric next to my skin. This is something I always enjoy as a base layer.

The construction of the brief is absolutely top notch. The design and production teams in Los Angeles spare not expense in creating near perfection. Stylish and appropriate for all types of wear and use, the Andrew Christian Almost Naked Steel Tagless Brief is a great addition to my top drawer and I recommend that you give it a shot as well.

swimthongOver the last two years, the popularity of thongs has grown. It also shows no signs of slowing down. Across all guys (gay, straight or bi) seem to be wearing them for underwear. However, will this carry over to the world of swimwear? I’m not saying that every guy will be sporting a thong but the popularity will increase.

Swim thongs have been very popular among a small set of men. They are very passionate about the style and have had meet ups in Palm Springs and other areas. While it was mainly gay guys, the style is growing among all men. We are starting to see new thong swimwear from JOR and new company Cockpit Undies (More on them soon!).

Unlike swim briefs, thongs leave a bit less to the imagination. Your assets are on display for all to see. Some guys this is a benefit, while other see this as a deal breaker. I have worn them years ago but I don’t have much in the asset department. When I did wear them, they were a lot of fun to wear. I never wore them at a pool party or beach. It was pretty much at a private pool.

The benefits of a swim thong, yes there are benefits! Thongs have less material than swim briefs and shorts. It allows for a much greater freedom of movement. Many of you guys talk about how you hate shorts in water. They never dry and feel like you’re swimming with rocks. With a thong, you have neither of these issues. Also, you get a more all over tan. This is good if you hate tan lines. Lastly, it’s as bare as you can dare on many beaches.

Would I wear them now? Honestly, it’s a maybe. It would have to be in a thong friendly environment. It wouldn’t be a local pool or beach. It would have other men of all shapes and sizes wearing them. As more thongs come out for swimwear, we will let you guys know!

Would you wear a swim thong?

modalFabric can make or break a pair of underwear. There is nothing worse than seeing a pair of underwear that looks amazing. Only to put it on and realize that it scratchy, confining and no give fabric. Fabric is one of the most important things in underwear to me. My favorite fabric for underwear is Modal.

Why Modal you ask?

It’s Super Soft

Modal is one of the softest fabrics I have ever worn. The first time I slid on a Modal pair of underwear was like the first time I slid on my first pair of bikinis. This is the fabric I have waited on for years. It felt amazing against my skin. One thing to know that it offers less support than other fabrics. If you are a fan of ergonomically designed pouches, It will not be made out of Modal.

Breathability and Moisture Control

Modal is a very breathable fabric. It is perfect for working out, running or being active. You won’t have underwear that feels like you went swimming. This is why I am not a fan of 100% cotton underwear. If you are active your underwear feels like you went swimming and never gets dry. Modal will allow everything to breathe and feel great.

Feels Great

Not only will it feel great against your skin. It will make you feel amazing. When you wear fabrics you love, you feel better throughout the day. We firmly believe that underwear brings you confidence. We don’t think you should wear something that doesn’t bring you comfort. Modal makes me feel amazing. I highly recommend it to anyone needing underwear to be active and feel great in!

Which Brands Use Modal?

Many brands now use Modal? One of my favorite lines was Cocksox Backstage, which is no longer made. Obviously is a company that is making great pouches out of the Modal. Tani is another brand using a good amount of Modal in their lines as well. Even new comers, such as Krakatoa, are depending on the fabric.

We hope you will try Modal if you haven’t, we will bring you more fabrics soon!

Rating: 9/10

  • Daily Fit: 9/10
  • Sizing: 9/10
  • Construction: 9/10
  • Styling: 9/10
  • Daily Performance: 9/10

Pros:

  • Super comfortable mesh fabric
  • Great supportive pouch
  • Sexy design perfect for every day wear

Cons:

  • Those guys who don’t like bright waistband may not like the FUKR band
  • If you’re conservative in underwear choice this is not for you
  • Mesh isn’t for everyone

UNB Tim’s Recommendation:

If you want a super sexy and fun pair of underwear. The Andrew Christian FUKR Net Brief 90036 is it. The mesh fabric is one of the best I ever tried. It’s fun, sexy and amazingly comfortable. I recommend this pair for anyone wanting to try or who already love mesh underwear

We got a few pairs of new Andrew Christian to review. One pair I was very curious about was the FUKR Net Brief. I am a fan of mesh but it’s not all meshes. There are a few that make you feel like you are rubbing your manhood against a cheese grater. Ok, that was a little too over the top but it’s true. Some mesh fabrics were made to be taken off. I had a bit worried about this pair but I was going to give it a try.

I wore these on a weekend day where it was going to be around the house. Just in case things went down hill with these. The first thing I noticed was the pouch. Net underwear in the past really haven’t had great pouches. I slid them on and I was seriously impressed. The mesh didn’t feel like mesh. It felt more like a solid fabric. It never got annoying at all. To say I was impressed is an understatement. The fabric was pretty incredible. I could have worn these on a regular day. Where have these been in the HOT southern summer.

The pair is made out of the following fabric. The Light Cool Fabric Content: 57% Cotton 38% Polyester 5% Spandex and Soft Contrast Stretch Fabric Content: 93% Cotton 7% Spandex. This fabric really impressed me. I was not expecting it to be so comfortable throughout the day. It was a very wise choice of them to use.

The sizing of the pair was pretty much as guaranteed. I wore and XL and that is my normal size. It fit me just fine. Make sure you double check the size chart. I don’t recall anyone really complaining about AC and their sizing. You should be good picking

I really liked this pair. I will wear it much more and not just on date nights. The FUKR brief is perfect for hot and humid weather like Atlanta in 90+ degree heat. If you’re looking for something super sexy and fun, give this brief a look. I don’t think you will be disappointed
