After our survey for the Podcast content you guys want to hear, Masculinity is a big part of the conversation you want to hear us take on! Which is amazing, and we are all up for it, but where do you want the conversation to go? I have several ideas and thoughts n the subject but we always love your input on your point of view and thinks you are curious about.
Here are some of my ideas:
- Do we portray a Persona on Social Media? – online, we all portray a “persona” of the ideal guy we want to convey. Do we try to make it more masculine than we are? Basically, do we create a character to post online? If so, why? It could be good or bad.
- Are there rules about what men’s underwear is? – Do we have rules about what is masculine in men’s underwear? For example, the primary culture in America says Boxer Briefs are what “real men” should wear. However, in our space, we are exploring so much more; Bikinis, thongs, lace, and more are standard; are these masculine? Do we care?
- Is masculinity defined unevenly? – Is it ok for a gay guy to wear a bikini or thong and get away with it because he is “gay.” While straight guys are held to a different standard? Most straight men don’t feel comfortable talking undie to their buddies and even wearing swim briefs in front of them. Shouldn’t we be letting all guys define what is right for them without throwing around you’re not a man or masculine if you wear things? Hence the “that’s gay” comments.
- Who gets to say what is Masculine? – Who gets to set the arbitrary rules about what is masculine in today’s society? Or should it be up to the individual to set their own rules? Over time, the definition of what is masculine has changed. Are we seeing more people resist because we are in a period of change to what has been the standard definition of masculinity?
- Are we focusing too much on the ideal “masculinity? – In the gay world, there is a big deal about if you are masc or fem. Are we focusing too much on the ideals of masculinity and applying unrealistic standards? Is this making guys be less themselves and focus on trying to be the ideal masculine man? One example is “A masc guy would never be caught dead in a thong, a jock yes, a thong no.” This carries over to the straight world as well, especially when it comes to underwear and the choices guys make.
These are a few ideas I’m thinking about for shows, and in 2024 we are going to follow up podcasts with more posts on the blog about them. I’m going to try to get myself some of our contributors to write further about the subject in greater detail or a part they are super passionate about.

I really love the designs that Japanese companies make in underwear and swimwear. They are just so innovative and fun. GX3 new GTDX line is just fun and some are super skimpy.
All the guys on the podcast who have tried Psittacuswear rave about them. They love the whimsical prints, the fantastic fit, and the great service they get from the brand. Make sure you go check them out, they are out of Spain but it’s well worth shopping to get fantastic underwear and swimwear.
I bought these Brady Briefs for review. I wanted to see how they held up to all the online buzz. All review opinions are my own and were not influenced by Brady Brand.

Pros: This pair has excellent fabric and sizing. You will not be disappointed in either of those. It’s a classic brief style that is an upgrade from the traditional white briefs. Plus, they are very well-made briefs.
Cons: I didn’t like the leg openings lost their shape during the day. The colors are limited to white, black, and navy. If you don’t like white or classic briefs, you probably won’t like them. Lastly, the shipping is a flat $8
UNB Tim recommendation: If you are a white briefs fan, you may love these, but they weren’t my favorite pairs. I loved the fabric and sizing, but the daily wear did what I hated with white briefs: the leg openings lost their shape. It gave me a fear of things falling out. But if you like white briefs, give them a try; your experience may be different.
After doing the White Briefs show, I decided to try some new whites. One brand that was getting a lot of buzz on Twitter was the “Brady Brand” briefs. The briefs retail for $15 a pair, which is okay for underwear, but the shipping was $8, and I refused to spend that much on shipping. But after New Year’s, they did a 50% off sale, and I got two for one. However, after I bought mine, they did a 75% off sale, and each pair was $4.50.
When I opened the package, I was impressed with the fabric and the feel of the pair. The briefs looked good, and It gave me hope that this pair would live up to all the hype online. I decided to wear them on a somewhat busy day, and at first, they felt good despite not having a defined pouch, which is one of my favorite things in underwear.
As the day wore on and that evening happened, it happened. It is one of the things I hate with classic white briefs. The leg openings didn’t remain tight and started to cause a gap. I remember regular whites back in the day, and I would fall out of them. These did that after a full day. I was disappointed in this pair. Had this not happened, this would have been a perfect pair of white briefs.
The question is, will I wear these again? I will, but there will be days when I’m hanging out at home or doing something simple. If you like white briefs, I would say get a pair and try them out. You may have yet to have the issues I had with the Brady Briefs.

Back in 2010 we went to the Poster Hut in Atlanta for an event that featured underwear and more! It was a fun event and but the Poster Hut has since closed, it was a staple in the Atlanta market for years. It was sad to see them go.
I wanted to share a new brand I found, thanks to Mr. JD_fitness_2023 on IG. JD has been on the podcast and is an awesome guy. He posted a pic of him wearing Galu bikinis and I had to inquire who they were. Galu is a company out of Costa Rica, and they make some great bikinis and more. I hope to have more about them soon.
