Andrew Christian is no stranger to undies that dare to bare! Earlier this year I reviewed the Valentines Peek-a-boo brief. I was impressed by the pouch. Many times you get one of these pairs and you fall out. The pouch is made out of the Almost Naked so you know its one that will conform to you and hold everything in place!
Andrew has taken this pair on step further. You may ask how could you do that with a pair where you can lift the pouch up for easy access! The change is the sides and back (just the top inch or so) is mesh. The black mesh def makes this pair stand out! It adds a bit of sexiness without being too over the top! Mesh has been a big trend in men’s underwear for the last few years and more companies are finding creative uses of the fabric. Not all are showing everything but more are using in an accent like this pair.
One thing the write up on the AC site says is it feels like you aren’t wearing underwear. This is definitely the Almost Naked line. The pouch is designed to ergonomically hold you all day in a natural position. You won’t be uncomfortable all day in these. The Almost Naked is one of my favorite lines of underwear just for this reason. I don’t know how AC came up with it but it’s amazing!

Each morning we stand naked in front of our dresser and closet wondering what to put on today. We are a blank canvas, choosing clothing that fits our mood, our day, and our lifestyle. How do we make these decisions? And more importantly, how do we try something new?
Right now, I have one underwear drawer. The left side consisting of my basics and the right side consisting of my more adventurous pairs. I look at both sides and wonder to myself what to wear for the day? Have you ever thought to yourself, “Hmm I should wear this Gregg Homme thong today?” Or “I want to wear my new N2N Bodywear jockstrap.” These are typically not the first pairs we think of when we get dressed for our day in the morning. Instead we grab the trusty Calvin Klein brief because we know it inside and out. We all know what fits our body best or what is most comfortable but how do we try something new?
No one wants to be caught away from home in uncomfortable underwear with nowhere to run! There is nothing worse than putting on a pair at 8:00am and by 11:00am sitting at your desk, wondering to yourself how you got yourself into this mess! Here are some tips for trying new underwear out. If you are cautious about going an 8 hour work day in a brand new pair, here is a great 3 step plan for you. First, slip them on one Saturday morning as you are home. Wear them around the house, doing chores and what not to see how they feel. This gives you some good movement and if they are not working out, another pair is right in the other room. Just make sure you don’t write them off too early before giving them a fair chance! Once you make it through an hour at home in the new pair, take them for a test run on a few short errands. Pick a few places not too far from home to see how they feel out in the real world. Again, this is a great way to see how your comfort level is in your new pair without being stranded. Hopefully by now you will know if this pair is going to measure up to your standards and be a great addition to your drawer. The last step is to finally take the pair through a long day at work. A great way to add a little ease to your mind is to take a spare comfortable pair of underwear. Knowing that if any time during the day you can’t handle it anymore, sneak into the bathroom and change pairs! It will be better than suffering through the day, never trying new underwear again, or freeballing!
For those of you more adventurous, slip on that new pair of underwear and head off to work, knowing that no matter what, you are wearing them until 5:00pm! Think about the fact that you will be sitting in a meeting with your coworkers, suits all around the table and the guy next to you does not know that you are currently wearing a pink mesh thong. Imagine your boss calling you into his office, telling you that you need to put yourself out there more but what he does not know is that under your suit, the Andrew Christian C-Ring Brief that you are currently wearing has no front pouch and you are definitely putting yourself out there underneath that suit. It’s adventurous, it’s sexy, and it’s part of who we are as underwear men.
At the end of the day, make sure you wear underwear that makes you feel sexy, gives you confidence, and comforts you. Be open to try new pairs whether it is for an hour on the weekend in the privacy of your own home or throughout a grueling work day. You may surprise yourself on what you find you love!

I know for many of you out there, hate is a strong word. But I will admit I am not a big fan of boxer briefs. There have been a few times that I have tried them for reviews and they fit great. But those are few and far between! You maybe asking why I hate them…. Well where should I start?
First thing is most of the pairs I have tried, with a few exceptions, have no pouch. I’m a guy who needs more room up front and to have everything supported. So, when a pair doesn’t hold its shape and all my business isn’t supported it drives me insane. This has caused me to take pairs off midday and either put on another pair or just free ball. The pairs I have liked from Unico and a few others have a pouch built in.
Next reason I hate them is they are too loose. I know we have readers who say what’s wrong with that? Well I’m a firm believer of to each their own, but for me I like undies that are tight and keep everything in place. I remember back in the day getting my first pair of boxer briefs from CK, (Right when they came out), it was early 90’s and I spend prob $22 on them. Back in the day when I was a college student, $22 was a lot of money for a pair of undies. I tried them and they bunched up and I kept pulling them down. It was a constant battle to adjust them through out the day. I couldn’t wait to get home and take these off and put on a pair of bikinis. These were made out of 100% cotton fabric with no spandex.
The last reason I hate boxer briefs is similar to above, it’s the legs not staying in place. The legs on most pairs keep riding up and I’ve had my business pop out the leg before. I kid you not. I went why am I wearing underwear if it doesn’t hold me in. It was a constant go to the bathroom and adjust the legs. After this and a few other times I was done!
I want to feel sexy and fun in undies and it I have to constantly adjust them that isn’t happening. So now you maybe asking what boxer briefs do you like? Well I prefer ones that are tight. Made out of a spandex blend that conforms to my body. Not pure 100% cotton that has not support. Second, I like a pouch built in that gives me support all day long. Lastly the legs are just as tight and don’t ride up. I have tired several long boxers and enjoyed them because they stayed in place!

There is something comforting about being part of a team. At UNB, I have been able to become part of a great underwear team. A team that brings the underwear loving public what they need and want to know about all things underwear! You can imagine my excitement when Teamm8 became my newest teammate in my underwear drawer.
I received the Teamm8 Racer Brief in Navy. The look of this brief is very athletic and sporty, living up to the company name. It has the athletic theme stripes in the front around the package and a great orange and navy color combination up against the white waistband. A look that I think portrays team spirit. The pair is a cotton and elastane mix which is a great combination for comfortable wear all day. Like many underwear companies today, they allow for extra room in the pouch for the more endowed men and a fuller cut in the back for the butt men.
I wore the pair through my typical work day as I normally do with my new underwear pairs. To me, it is important to see if a pair can handle an average day, otherwise it does not pop up in rotation too often. This pair did not disappoint! I was comfortable all day long. I did not have any problems with chaffing, riding up, or excessive adjustment.
I wear a medium and when I received this pair it was a small. I was nervous because my first thought was “oh great these won’t fit.” I was wrong. They fit me great. I was pleasantly surprised that a small fit me so well and they did not feel too small throughout the day. Teamm8’s website does reference this by saying “if you don’t need the extra room, just order a size smaller.” Although this is good advice before purchasing, it may confuse many customers who wonder if they are endowed enough or have a bigger butt for their normal size or a size down. I consider myself average but would have not ordered a small just from my typical ordering habits.
Overall, if you get the right size, you won’t be disappointed when you wear the pair. They say there is no “I” in team but I sure am glad that I am in this Teamm8 pair!

Well the trip out west was a lot of fun. This was my 10th trip to Magic/Curve! It’s hard to believe I have been to that many. The shows have changed so much since 2010, when I first started to go! Unlike the other trips this time I went to Los Angeles for the first time, the weekend before. Did a few things blog related and hung out with friends! Then I headed to Las Vegas for a week!
LA was BIG, this being my first trip I didn’t know what to expect. I stayed with the other Tim on the site (UNBTMG), he picketed me up at the Airport and we were off to the Las Angeles Eagle for the N2N Bodywear Hard Heroes Event. Which is a fetish event for guys into spandex and super hero. I would have enjoyed this much better had it not been on the night I flew in and was worn out! But it was fun to see N2N and the fashion show!
The next day we headed downtown to meet with a UNB long time favorite Go Softwear. Their office is in the Fashion District and we got there a bit early. We met with Go Softwear and saw some of the new stuff coming and I was impressed! They have been working hard. We did lunch downtown and it was a great meeting. We were supposed to do dinner with N2N that night but had a scheduling conflict! Next time.
The next day I took it easy and did some meetings for somethings coming…shhhh! Then I saw the Pacific Ocean for the first time and headed to the airport to go to Vegas. The short flight from LAX to Las Vegas was half full and i Loved it! I landed and got to the hotel at 11. The weekend in LA drained me so I crashed almost immediately.
Monday, Aug 18 both the shows started. It is standard for me to go to Curve in the morning and head down to Magic in the afternoon. So around 8:30 I head up to the Sands Convention center. This year there was just one brand at Curve. That brand was Wood Underwear. It was great to catch up and find out about the new stripes (in the picture above) and the just released camo line! It was quick but I headed down to the Mandalay Bay Convention Center.
That night we had our Meet and Greet with some of the brands. They are always fun to get everyone in a social situation. I have always wanted to do something in Vegas for our readers like our Industry Meet and Greet. We may try something this year! While there I tried to Tweet and send some instagram pics. I”m getting better!
When I got there I had to meet up with Blue Buck, Justin Case and Steele sWimwear. I can’t wait to tell you about Justin Case! Also in the meeting was Private Structure and Punto Blanco. This year Punto Blanco is going to amazing! It won’t be released till Early next year though. Then I met with Andrew Christian in the afternoon.
Tuesday was just as busy. This time it was with Teamm8 (who are amazing), Junk UnderJeans, 2(X)ist (Jason is awesome), Bwet, Frank Dandy, Timoteo, Rounderwear, and more. It was a very productive week.

While I was doing my daily scroll of Facebook in July, I came across a very exciting notion. Great quality underwear at an amazing price. That’s right readers, quality underwear for the budget of every man. Some of you who immerse yourselves in the underwear world as much as I do may have stumbled upon this miracle much as i did. Who are these crazy folks? They call themselves quite simply, Project 5. I used my great deductive reasoning skills to figure out that they call themselves Project 5 because they intend to sell EVERY pair they make for $5. I immediately added my email to their update list so that I can stay on top of their progress. I also reached out to the manufacturer to get the skinny on their crazy idea of selling underwear at such an amazing price. How do they do it you ask? Well I’ll tell you.
I got a great response from Jose at Project 5 and he filled me in the on plan. In his email to me he spoke very highly of his desire to provide great quality underwear at a great price. Jose said, “Quality is going to be great and the price you can’t beat.” Project 5 has already created another successful line of underwear and it’s this relationship with the manufacturer that allows them to keep costs down. During a $5 sale of their current line they sold out and thus the concept was born. Project 5 underwear will be successful I’m sure of it.
Project 5 underwear will be available to suit all underwear tastes. Briefs and boxer briefs will be the main offerings in their line up. I have not seen much of the colors yet, but on their launch page they showed a glimpse of the colors and they look very stylish and fun. They have focused much on their waistband. I like the twist on the letter “p” and the number “5” in the the logo. It looks like a superhero’s logo. Succeeding at this venture will undoubtedly make them a superhero to many underwear lovers. Project 5 will use a wide range of materials to make sure that their comfort extends beyond the wallet to the butt of the wearer. Cotton/spandex blends as well as nylon, modal, and polyester will ensure that each pair is made to the highest quality and comfort. I am sure that as they grow more and more materials will be used and consistently maintain affordable prices. The size chart for Project 5 is standard sizing for American manufacturers. Since I have not gotten my hands on them yet, I will stick to my usual size plan. Briefs I’ll get medium and trunks I’ll get small. The figures I see on the chart make me think that my sizing plan will hold true. I am eagerly awaiting some samples to test out and also to share with the other writers here at UNB and get more opinions.

My second pair I am going to say every guy should own is the David Beckham Bodywear briefs for H&M. If you don’t know Beckham has a really nice ass… and his brand of underwear show off a great ass nicely. I got two pairs of these while on clearance at H&M for $5 each. The pair is super soft and comfortable.
The briefs really hug the ass nicely…they look great and feel amazing. The pair is 95% cotton and 5% elastin. They come in simple colors like solid black and solid white. I normally love designs and colors but I love that these are just simple looking. We don’t always need underwear to scream out loud…sometimes the fit does enough talking.
There is one thing that has always surprised me running UNB, is the number of guys who would never go shopping for underwear in person. They do 100% of their shopping online and don’t want to go into a store. This concept is foreign to me!
For as long as I can remember I used to go to the “Boy Next Door” or Macy’s here in Atlanta to find underwear. It’s always been fun just to go see the new styles or brands. I remember the first time I saw 2(X)ist, Go Softwear and C-IN2. They were all in stores!
So this had me wondering why is it there are guys who don’t want to shop in person?
Well the first reason I came up with is many guys are very personal and private. They don’t want a store clerk to judge them for buying a thong. They would rather be a faceless customer to an online store. If they had to walk up to a cash register and put a thong on the counter and pay for it. Well it would never happen.
Next, they equate buying great underwear with sexuality. This is one of the biggest myths in underwear. Guys think if they buy a great pair of briefs that they must be gay. Lately, more straight guys are buying underwear so you can’t “judge a book by its cover.” In fact most people who work in stores won’t blink an eye, especially if it’s an underwear store. They won’t care if you’re gay/straight/bi.
There are no stores in your area. I know if you’re in mid-America or live in a rural area your options are limited. Most underwear stores are in larger cities. I remember there used to be one in Des Moines, Iowa, but it went out of business. The market in Iowa is not the same as in NYC or LA. This is a hard one to over come. But if you go on vacation, find an underwear store and do some shopping
Lastly, some guys just get turned on buying underwear. I have fallen into this category when I was younger. Something about picking out underwear that just turns you on. For some this can be problematic in public while others it’s only mildly so. Over the years this has calmed down for me but sometimes I still get a little tingle when I go shopping. This usually depends on the place.
Let’s say you’re one of these guys who has never shopped in person and want to venture out to an underwear store. I say do it! Here are some reasons to do it in person.
Underwear needs to be seen and felt. After going to Magic/Curve this has taught me some of the pictures for underwear never do a pair justice. But, once you see a pair the color pops and you must have it. Also, feeling the material is part of the shopping experience. You wouldn’t buy a shirt or pants with out feeling them would you? You want clothes that feel good.
If you go shopping at a store that is all or a majority of underwear the staff can make recommendations. Most people in an underwear store will know the styles and make recommendations. Say you like 2(X)ist but are in a mood to try something new, they can recommend something they have that has a similar fit or fabric. You can be exposed to new brands.
Shopping is social, well it is to me. I love going shopping with a buddy who loves underwear. Much like a staff recommendation, a recommendation from a friend carries more weight then anyone else. I love helping a friend find new underwear or open their mind to new styles or fabrics. I have many friends who come to me for advice about brands they read on the site. It’s just fun to share!
If you are a guy who doesn’t shop in underwear stores I would suggest giving it a try. I’m not saying to give up shopping online. You can get some amazing deals and brands your local store doesn’t’ carry. Shopping in person you may be exposed to a new fabric or brand you wouldn’t have considered until you felt it. So mix up your shopping experience. If you do let me know how it goes !
