malepowerwaveshort

Hot hot hot!  That’s the best way to describe this super fun trunk from Male Power.  When I took it out of the package, I couldn’t figure out what the pattern was or how it would look.  But as as I put it on and looked in the mirror I knew what all the buzz was about.  Designed to provide support and titillate at the same time, this trunk is sure to spice up those special times between you and your partner.  Made from a polyester/spandex blend, the look and feel of this trunk is a winner.

The first thin you notice about these trunks is the construction.   This body hugging short is covered in see-thru inserts, giving any one who sees you in them a glimpse of what is underneath.   While that may be disconcerting to some, it can be quite exhilerating for others.  I wore mine on purpose to the gym, and caught quite a few looks as I changed into my gym shorts.    Not only do they look great, but they felt great.  Didn’t have any issues working out in them at all.  And the inserts made them exceptionally breathable.   There is a center seam that provides some lift in the back as well, which is always nice.  My only complaint is that they are only offered in black and white.  Imagine red and white…yowza!

Pros

  • super sexy
  • lifts in front and back
  • feels great on the skin

Cons

  • only available in one color

Male Power furnished this pair for review

8364_1_

When I opened my latest review pair the other day, I was excited to see this hot number (horrible pun intended) by PiKante. Their 8364 boxer is an eye-catching micro mesh of a 93% Polyester/ 7% Spandex mix that is available in a light blue color with yellow contrast stitching and logo waistband. While I am a fan of logo waistband, the PiKante logo could probably use a little editing as it contains but a chili pepper as the “i” and an underwear-clad male form as the “t” – but that’s just my two cents.

On the day I wore the boxer I found myself doing errands and going to the grocery store.  As they day wore on I found that it felt like the leg had rode up a tad and felt somewhat bunched at my thighs. Much to my surprise when I changed that evening the boxers were not actually bunched at all, I’ll admit it, I have meaty thighs and I believe in my case that the leg openings were a little too snug and that after a full day of errands, I really started to notice it. With that said, there was no chaffing or the like, it was just mildly uncomfortable; however, as comfort is paramount for me in my underwear, that did lead to my fit/daily wear ratings below.

I do however, have to compliment PiKante on the micro mesh that was chosen for the boxer. While it is partly shear, it is very discrete and does not feel like it is revealing too much or letting any part of your anatomy hangout – at least not anymore than it’s well-designed pouch is suppose to. Additionally, sometimes mesh boxers tend to have a flimsy feel to them and I am happy to report that these have a hardy build that definitely holds its own.

Overall, I really wanted to like these boxers, especially because of the color combo, but the leg fit is an issue for me. I hope that it might have just been this pair because I like the other features and would like to wear these more regularly than I will because of the fit.

Pros:

  • Sturdy construction
  • “Discrete” mesh

Cons:

  • Snug leg openings

Today’s Brief Distraction is from D.HEDRAL. This is part of their new swimwear line.

“The model is Ruby star Thom Evans. D.HEDRAL is a luxury men’s underwear brand that will also be launching beachwear (as pictured) in the Spring.

This is Thom’s first major campaign since he started modelling last year and comes almost exactly three years after his life changing injury playing rugby for Scotland.

We think he definitely gives David Beckham a run for his money!”

It’s Friday and Underwear of the Week. This week is Jock wee and we wanted to bring you one of the newest jocks as our pick this week. The pair this week is the Baskit America Jock. I first saw this a year ago in Vegas at the show and have been anxiously awaiting the release of this line. Reasons the America Jock is our Underwear of the week:

  • Made in America
  • Has a jock brief styling
  • Multi color pattern that is available in 3 comibnations
  • Really nice waistband with the Baskit logo centered
  • Baskit Logo at the top of the leg straps.
  • Made out of 95% Cotton 5% Elastane

malepowerlace

Lace is one of the more polarizing issues in men’s underwear. Some guys love it and others hate it. But regardless of how you feel it’s a big seller in the world of men’s underwear. So with that disclaimer we bring you the new Scandal Lace collection from Male Power.

It was only a matter of time. Today’s man is quickly discovering that lace is not just for the ladies anymore. And Male Power’s sensational new Scandal Lace collection provides vivid proof.

The Hauppauge, New York company’s scintillating line of shorts and thongs captures all the wonderful features of this ever-popular openwork fabric. So delicate, lightweight and breathable, it makes you feel as if you are wearing nothing at all. But lace looks oh-so-sexy, as it contours the male anatomy with unmatched grace and style.

I’ve always been interested in trying what the market has to offer when it comes to  “Anatomical” or “Natural” pouches. Thus, I’ve come to one of the perhaps lesser known brands is John Sievers, who seem to want to make their name on what they term their “Natural Pouch” design. So I bought the John Sievers Cotton Natural Pouch Brief (in “Orchid”) from InternationalJock.com and wanted to review it for your consumption.

This particular brief is made of 95% cotton and 5% Lycra and features a logo waistband. For the most part it is a comfortable pair of briefs that run fairly true to size. My pair was a Large which is labeled for size 36-38 waists and fit my 37-38″ waist  comfortably. It is important to note that this brand “jumps numbers” on its size chart and if you are one of the odd numbers out (31, 35, 39) I would recommend sizing up.

As I said these briefs fit my waist well, and the cotton is certainly high quality which provides a nice, non-stretch fit throughout the day. In terms of overall fit, these briefs fit like most low-rise bikini cut briefs do. They are made to fit low on the hips with high cut leg openings and full coverage in the rear. The “Natural Pouch” fits how you would expect it to, but for men who are more well endowed (as I am), the cotton pouch isn’t as big as I would like it to be and that caused some various sitting-to-standing problems during the day.

Construction wise, this brief is fairly sound. The “Natural Pouch” is created by additional material held together by an additional seam or stitch that falls just behind your package, but the cotton does create a less mold-able pouch compared to its Rayon or Modal counterparts. The Color Vibe Brief from Andrew Christian is another cotton brief that features a natural pouch and gets this design right as the pouch is larger, as an acknowledgment of cotton’s limitations. That is not to say that this pouch isn’t comfortable, I wore them for an entire day with hardly any discomfort.

The style or look of this particular pair is honestly what attracted me to them. This brief comes in at least seven colors from standard blacks and grays to this Orchid color. Aside from the color, I like the fact that this is designed much like a traditional y-front, with the contrast white piping. Outside American Apparel, you don’t see many designers sticking to the traditional version of this design. It’s nice to see a hybrid of a traditional looking brief with a new design (a contour or natural pouch) aspect.

I would recommend this particular brief to everyone, but particularly men who like anatomical or natural pouches. Additionally, this brief given its use of cotton would be especially good for those men who enjoy how such pouches let them hang, but don’t necessarily have the endowment to fill those pouches out. While I probably won’t buy another pair, I will certainly come back to this brief when I want a change of pace.

Pros:

  • Good Fit
  • Solid Construction
  • Stylish

Cons

  • “Natural” Pouch could be slightly larger

Joe-Snyder-Underwear-01

Joe Snyder has been around for over 30 years. They are still going strong and we got to ask them a few questions about the history of the company, best seller and whats in store for the future! We hope you enjoy!

How did Joe Snyder get started in the men’s underwear industry?

In 1958, Mr. Jesús Vargas Abín established in México “De Vargas”, a store where he sold shirts, trousers, suits, ties, underwear, accessories, etc. In 1977 Mr. José Vargas Snyder started working with his father. He continued offering the same products until his father died in 1977.
In those days men underwear covered men’s virility, failing the objective to support men’s virility.
The customers were looking for sensual underwear; Mr. Vargas Snyder noticed people’s needs due his vast experience in men’s clothing. He produced the exclusive Exclhom (Exclusivo para hombre – Exclusive for men) design, a garment made of Polyamide Elastane, which perfectly fitted men’s anatomy. He manufactured and sold the product in his own store. The customers bought the underwear since the first day. Proving he was right.

Joe Snyder is known for their bright colors, how do you choose the colors? Is there a color you would like to do?

The colors are chosen because at Joe Snyder we like to make things differently and in an original way. Starting with the fabric used (80% polyamide – 20% Elastane) and by choosing bright and original colors that cannot be found in other brands. Our idea is to keep a fresh, modern, fun and versatile image.

We’ll certainly be bringing some exciting new colors and have already some in mind but we’d like to keep the mystery! We never want to stop surprising our customers

What has been your most popular style over the years? Also what has been the best selling color? joe_snyder_pride_frame_blue2

The best selling item is the Bikini 01, the first style ever made. The best selling color of that Bikini is in black.

Lace in men’s underwear has been popular; Joe Snyder was one of the first to include it, what made you use lace?

Like previously mentioned, in Joe Snyder we like to do things differently and provide new options to our customers. To be honest with you, Mr Snyder had the idea to release a lace collection since about 15 years ago but thought that the market was not ready for that at that moment..untill recently.

The last release was the Pride Frame. I Love this line, how did the design come about?

As we are always trying to make a difference, many samples and ideas where developed and shared amongst the Joe Snyder’s design team.

Also, we listened to our customers and after combining our ideas and the customer’s opinion; the result was the Pride Frame. The idea behind the name is literal… to put a frame around what a guy is most proud of!

Are there any plans to add more lines or colors soon?

We are constantly in search of new ideas to create original designs and colors. In the 2nd trimester of 2013 we’ll bring a new collection that will be where classic meets sexy and functionality.
