How did you discover your love of underwear, swim briefs, spandex and gear ?

Ha–a probably wondering the aisles as a closeted little gay boy trying to get glimpse of the bulges.

What are you favorite styles to wear?

Briefs because they comfortable and Jockstraps because they’re sexy

Why did you first start posting pics in underwear?

Sexy sells?  I’d post a photo clothed then post one in underwear and that alwaya seemed to be a lot more popular…so–give the people what they want (I’m a pleaser– I guess).

If you have a partner/husband/wife are the supportive of you sharing your love of underwear?

I have been seeing someone, its still new and we’re feeling it out, but he certainly loves to show off.  When he pulls down his pants I never can predict whats going to be under there.

Do you friends know about your IG and live if undies?

Ha, yes—some unfollowed me.  They said they would get embarrassed to scroll through their feed and have a pic of my crotch or ass show up.  So then I made a more personal account for Friends and Family to follow.

What have been some of the positive things that have happened since you started posting? Did you have any negative experiences?

I’ve had differently companies reach out and send my pairs, so I’ve got to discover and try a lot of new brands.   I got to try underwear I typically would never buy.  For example, I’m not into thongs really, but I Charlie by MZ makes a vegan “leather” thong that looks almost like a jock strap.  Its the 2nd thong I’ve ever put on but looked good and felt fun to wear, so I’ve been able to explore and try new things and am surprised whenever I like something a little outside my standards.

No matter the body type there are always people who will criticize you that you’re too big, too small, too young, too old, how do you deal with those?

As Kesha sings “Don’t let the Bastards get you down.”  I’ve had people tell me all sorts of things–just the other day I had some guy DM me to tell me I looked fat in the last picture I posted.  In general I just presume any harsh comments stem from the person’s of insecurities and try not to take it personally.  I know that I look through Instagram and see men who’s body is better than mine, or bulge is bigger, or butt is…bubblier. Now having taking some of these types photos I can see that a lot of that is due to lighting, angles, digital manipulation, steroids or implants.  In general I try to keep my photos more natural.  I don’t always have abs, some days I do, but most often I don’t.  Before a photo shoot I’ll work out, hardly eat, to look good for the photos–also, during the shoot there’s a lot of flexing while trying to look like your not flexing…anyway, what I’m getting at is that we are comparing ourselves to the unattainable ideals, making us feel inferior.  When we compare, we all feel it and each deal with that in different ways–some folks lash out and choose to troll, while I try to use it to motivate me at the gym or to eat healthy.  But in general we need to try to compare ourselves less.

One thing I have discovered is guys into underwear tend to be awesome guys. Have you made any friends that you may not have met otherwise

I do love attending underwear parties or when bars host jock strap nights.  It seems like a good equalizer and there like a nice brotherhood once everyone gets comfortable.  I’ve met tons great like minded guys at in such environments.

What is your favorite color of Underwear?

Hmm…Blue or Black…or Black & Blue.

Lastly, What is your favorite social media to post on? And what is your name on there?

I guess I’d have to say Instagram, though when I first downloaded it (years ago) I thought it was just for photo editing, I didn’t realize it was for photo sharing. Why I thought a dick pic needed a filter I’ll never know, but I filtered it (probably to send to someone on Scruff) not realizing it was posting publicly for everyone to see.  This was about 8 or 9 years ago—before they were such censoring vigilantes because that dick pic stayed up there for over a week.  I had no idea it was there until a friend of mine from Italy called, (she never calls, so when she did I knew something was up), to say “you know you have your dick posted up on instagram, right?” Haha maybe that was my initial boost of popularity Anyway I immoderately deleted it—whoops! There my handle is  @TheGayGaston but I prefer Patreon.com/TheGayGaston  at least on Patreon I can post what I want without fear off having it reported or taken down, I can run polls, post longer videos etc.

Why do you love photography? What made you want to pursue a career photography?

People who know me say I never shut up and can talk underwater, I love photography because it’s my conversation with someone. If the subject is captured right, then the photograph will communicate in the same way to the viewers as well. The camera freezes the fragment of the time I have spent with that person. The camera has been central in my life in making friends with people from different walks of life.

To use a cliché I have always been creative, sometimes that works and sometimes it doesn’t. Photography is a medium that is difficult it is taking something 3D and turning into 2D and drawing peoples eye to it.  I have been lucky in that what I like to photograph people like to look at, so people have been receptive to my work, this has spurred me to push harder and take more images.

Why did you focus on the men’s underwear/swimwear industry?

The human form is a beautiful thing both male and female. I was and still am inspired by legendary photographers like Bruce Webber and Max Dupain. I like to do things differently and from a different perspective, I like taking an image style that everyone knows and trying to find a new way to photograph it. Plus growing up in Australia we can photograph beachwear all year round, we don’t really have winter.

Do you have you had a Memorable shoot?  Was it good or bad??

This may sound strange, but I actually remember all my shoots and I always try and make them fun and enjoyable, but early on in my career I photographed a guy in shirt and tie underneath a water feature in the centre of Sydney. The model told me to turn around and I thought it was the rangers or police coming but it was bus of Japanese tourists who stopped and were taking photos of us. It was a tad ironic.

How do you prepare for a shoot? What is your workflow in the creative process?

I like to get to know a model first and see what they liked, ideas/concepts and what they are comfortable in doing. I then think about the product and what locations would match it or juxtapose it. I often see the model as the support act to the light and location. That way the model fits in perfectly and the image works.

What has been your wildest idea for a shoot and did you get to execute it?

I have been very lucky and had guys believe in me and my vision and have allowed me to do some pretty cool concepts. I have one for a gallery show that I did that I’m turning into a book where I poured milk over naked men. Another I had a model in a bathtub full of candy, lollypops etc, I have had guys nude hanging from cliffs, or walking in their undies along a road in front of Big Ben.

What do you look for in the models you use?

This will sound like a dating app but I look for confidence and a good personality. I don’t like it when a model poses, I like the model to be them, natural and that’s what I try and capture.  I don’t tolerate diva or attitude.

Do you use a regular set of models or do you like to mix it up?

I have both. I find that when you worked with a guy a lot you build up so much trust, respect and friendship and images are always better after a few sessions and you can push things further. But I also like working with new guys and how they bring in their ideas, creativity and excitement.

Shoots can be anything from boxer briefs to thongs, how do you make models feel comfortable in whatever you shoot?

I engage in a model’s interests, tell them stupid stories about me and try and get them to have a laugh, that is usually what makes them comfortable.  I’m very respectful, while a model might be in underwear/speedo/nude in front of the camera and being directed, once the camera is down, I always turn away from the model when they change and give them a towel.  Plus, I have been lucky and worked with a few exhibitionists who have dropped all their clothes before I even have the lens cap off. And sometimes it been harder for me to get the model to put clothes back on at the end of a shoot.

What are some tips you give models in order to be comfortable in front of the camera whether as a new model or for underwear/swimwear shoots?

The tips I would give a guy interested in modelling would be to:

  1. Train like a demon
  2. Workout what will set you apart from another model,
  3. Work on confidence
  4. Build a network and talk to other models and photographers
  5. Have a shoot kit ready – towel, flip flops, clothes, makeup touch up kit
  6. Be good to your skin

Any tips for people wanting to get into photography and specifically men’s underwear/swimwear?

I won’t lie its a tough gig photography, with the interaction of digital camera, plus everyone with a smart phone and an instagram account thinks they are a photographer. The best tips I could give are:

  1. Get a good camera
  2. Learn how to compose images
  3. Attend workshops
  4. Work with photographers
  5. Take your time
  6. Practice on anyone to start

What are your interests away from the camera?

You will usually find me in nature covered in dirt. The more I live in a city like London the more important it is for me to be hands on in nature, so I volunteer in woodlands and parks, planting, weeding and rubbish collection. You will also find most of my space time is location scouting and trying to get into areas I’m not supposed to be in, nothing illegal, just lost officer I swear.

We bought this pair for review. All opinions of the review are my own and were not influenced by Andrew Christian.

Rating: 9/10 (Average of the ratings below)

  • Fit: 9/10
  • Sizing: 8/10
  • Construction: 10/10
  • Styling: 9/10
  • Fabric: 9/10

Pros: The stretch fit hugs and feels excellent to me. I also really like how AC created a sexy cut to this singlet, with deep low reveals – offering a very hot look. The fit will be flattering to many shapes, which is something I find important to note.

Cons: While this is an excellent product in general, this pattern might not be my favorite. The $ theme is fun, but not my personal taste.

I am a long time AC supporter, as I find they have a wide range of products geared toward guys looking for a good fit and a large variety of styles. They take risks and offer new cuts and styles of men’s underwear and other clothes that are unique and sexy and comfortable. I love many of my thongs and jocks, and they are the first brand I found with a jock/thong – something I found very sexy and a unique combination. Singlets, in general, are somewhat new to me, but I was very excited to give this one a try, as it was my first singlet from AC and was happy to find they lived up to their standards. Personally, being a thicker guy, I fear a singlet (traditionally) to be unflattering and call attention to all of the areas I was self-conscious about. But happy to see this was not the case.

I have yet to wear these out and about, as I think they call for a special occasion or play date but will bring them with me to PTown this summer and think they might make an appearance there. In the meantime – I spend the afternoon in them around the house. As a big undies fan, I was not sure how they would feel, but I truly enjoyed them! Feeling the shoulder straps stretch and tug gently as I moved about was a fun aspect, and the fabric was soft and comfortable. Having them snug on my rear end was great for good booty look, which always makes me happy. So while not daily wear, fun addition to a gear night or other fun adventure. The rainbow colors also make them a good fit for pride events.

True to AC fashion, this is a well-crafted garment. It withstood very well during my wearing and moving about. Snug fit on me could easily put some strain on the seams, but no signs of weakness for sure. And it washed well without any pilling or struggles. I’d also like to mention the very comfortable fitted pouch. I believe this is the Almost Naked style AC is known for, and always fits right and shows off a significant bulge.

For me, I had on an XL, which many of my followers are shocked to see me in. But I find AC sizing to be forgiving to larger guys and able to accommodate us with comfort. I can’t speak to smaller sizes or fits but I know this one worked for me. Also, being 6’ tall, and new to singlets, I was worried about the shoulders being too snug – but that worked great too and fit very well. The biggest area of concern for me was the belly region, but with this cut, it falls right above the pubic area and left my belly free from impact on sizing. Same with the skimpy back, allowing for the sizing to fit very similar to a pair of AC trunks, rather than a traditional singlet. I was also worried about my thick thighs, and while a bit snug, they fit well – similar to any pair of AC trunks.

As a bigger thick guy, I have had a bit of fear around singlets in general. While they are incredibly sexy on other guys, and I enjoy the sporty aspect, they have scared me on the fit. I was most pleasantly surprised how well they fit overall and good they made me look. The cute thick edge trim and side details added a sporty vibe that really was an excellent addition. Best of all is the flattering cut and the attractive package and booty they gave me. I’d be very comfortable wearing this for one special partner or showing off at the right themed evening. Therefore, I’m happy to give this a 9/10 for my first review. Very recommended!

How did you discover your love of underwear, swim briefs, spandex and gear ?

My love of underwear goes back to the 90s when I accidentally came across this Tv show called The bikini open ( it’s on YouTube I recently rewatched and relived that time) where as soon as I saw the preview, I was hooked. There were females models wearing fluorescent bikinis/tiny G string Bikini with that 90s Glow which looked extremely hot( please don’t ask me how many times a day I pleasured myself watching that in those days) By the end of that show, I was completely smitten with underwear. Also, show had a segment with men in their sexy undies such as a thong and I remember succinctly I was so taken back at first seeing men in such revealing undies( a guy was in a purple g string) but by the end of that first episode1,I knew I had a thing for undies in my heart and I couldn’t stop watching that every time it came on.

What are your favorite styles to wear?

  • I love sports briefs/ Tanga briefs ( jockey made these white tanga/sports bikini which I can’t find anywhere now)as they provide support to the package and cover the behind but leaves room for the leg to do all this squats and stretches. Perfect for the Gym workouts.
  • I love jockstrap again for the purpose of wearing at the gym as it provides a lot of free movement and room to move freely. Besides I find myself feel sexy in one.-
  • I now own 4 thongs purely as suggested by my friends on Instagram still getting used to them.- for every day use, I wear trunks and mostly boxers at night time in bed.

Why did you first start posting pics in underwear?

Honestly speaking, I never really spoke about my love for underwear purely for the fear of being taken as a joke or even be made fun of so I thought to find a platform to express my desire and love for undies and find like-minded people with similar taste and appreciation for sexy jocks. Boy did I lucky, I have now made quite a few friends though Instagram( I like to think so) and even considering hanging out with them once I get more comfortable. (sadly, most of them are in the US only about 15000 miles away)

If you have a partner/husband/wife are the supportive of you sharing your love of underwear?

I did have a girlfriend in the past but I could never introduce that to our relationship purely due to fear of rejection which I plan to work on in like-minded future when I have a new relationship. I am actively looking for a Guy friend AKA my bro with taste for undies so I could finally meet and go shopping together for undies with him.

Do your friends know about your IG and live if undies?

No, this has been my own sort of thing so none of my friend know about it.

What have been some of the positive things that have happened since you started posting? Did you have any negative experiences?-

I have been extremely fortunate to have found and connected with such great, kind hearted , supporting  and loving group of people through Instagram. The feedback regarding my body and choice of undies has been positive to the point sometimes I feel I don’t deserve as compared to all the stunning models out there, I am just average bloke trying to make some friends and share common posts of me in undies with my average body.( the only 6 pack is own is the one in the fridge 6 pack of cheese and crackers)

No matter the body type there are always people who will criticize you that you’re too big, too small, too young, too old, how do you deal with those?

I always welcome constructive criticism and always happy to take on feedback like-minded, whether positive or neutral in a sporting manner. So far, I have been fortunate enough not to have experienced such unkind behavior. In fact, there are times when I hate my body or unhappy about body images, feedback from fellow Instagram friends made me feel great for which I am always grateful.

One thing I have discovered is guys into underwear tend to be awesome guys. Have you made any friends that you may not have met otherwise?

bsolutely, I am happy that I made a decision to create this profile due to which I have connected with some of the most amazing guys who have been supportive and loving through this journey.

What is your favorite color of Underwear?

I love Red pair of undies.

Lastly, What is your favorite social media to post on? And what is your name on there?

This month we take the Rear View – the first of a two-part report from Deadgoodundies.com where male thong and string briefs have been a hit with customers since day one. Their buyer’s challenge today is to keep finding something new and restocking best sellers from international collections (https://www.deadgoodundies.com/mens-underwear/shop-by-style/strings-and-thongs).

DGU’s partner brands offer everything from practical cotton via silky sheer to lace and see-through men’s strings. Your preference might be the finest straps or a wider thong back, but perfection is only achieved with the right size and fit. Take care with pouch shape and capacity – are you after prominence or a neat nest, a touch of control or a personalised, adjustable look?

Beyond that, the effect you want to create with that wisp of fabric between your buttocks is an open book…

HOM Freddy String £15.00

What IS it about this men’s underwear string that makes it unbeatable? Could be the 93% cotton fabric, could be the short string back, could be because it’s been around for so long and gents are loyal. Along the way HOM have updated the design and added a ‘d’ – it was originally just Fredy. This string has a particular fit, which means you might prefer a size larger than your usual.

Sukrew Stirling V Thong £16.99

New and very different – Sukrew’s Stirling design goes for the string-plus-jock look. In silky white microfibre this is one of the latest additions to the British collection. If you love a few degrees of separation up front and a marvellous picture behind, this is the one.

Olaf Benz RED1601 Mini String

Sometimes simplicity is also luxury. The Olaf Benz RED1601 range has five tops and four bottoms to co-ordinate, all in black or white cotton, including this carefully fitted thong.

Manstore M101 Tower String £25.00

Colour can make all the difference but DGU’s advice is to buy quick if you fancy a new shade – because they tend to be seasonal and unrepeatable. Like this turquoise in Manstore’s extensive M101 line. NEWS: summer 2019 colours are the last, this sexy enhancing string will be available only in black or white going forward.

Doreanse 1889 Boxer Thong £17.00

Whatever takes your fancy – Doreanse combine a string back AND boxer brief in their arty baroque pattern design. In a mix of modal and cotton, the fabric is delightfully soft.

Ergowear MAX Mesh Thong £19.00

If you prefer a deeper waistband, sportier styling and an aerated pouch and string, this is the one for you. Ergowear’s men’s underwear designers know about enhancement, comfort and making an impact, front or back!

Joe Snyder Shining String Body 27 £25.00

How much fun could you have in this? Erotic men’s underwear in ‘Body 27’ by Joe Snyder designs come in six colours in Shining, but also patterns like rainbow stripes and snakeskin from DGU. Personal adjustment essential.

Summer is here and it’s time to take the challenge! What challenge you may ask? The challenge to wear a swim brief or thong in public. Every year we have the Swim Brief and Swim Thong Challenges. This year is no different! It’s time to drop those shorts and rock something fun.

For many of you, this is nothing new. You have been doing the brief or thong for a few years. That’s awesome keep up the good work. However, this is for the guy who always eyes them but never puts one on. What are you waiting for? Grab one and head to the nearest beach.

Whey do we do this every year? We do it because swim briefs and thongs still a looked down on by much of society here in the states. It’s considered “gay” if you wear one. Interesting fact about our Thong challenge, more straight guys love them than gay guys.

If you do wear a swim brief or thong, tag us on IG or Twitter and let us know.

Are you a big lover of Cocksox? They are one of the top brands in my underwear drawer. They are of high quality, amazing pouch, and just fit amazing. Not to mention the amazing fabric they use in their undies. The list could go on and on.

One of the new pairs I saw in Vegas was the C-Force collection. It has the Velocity Stripe, Octane Orange and Turbo Green. There is some really cool inspiration behind this collection. This is what Cocksox says about the collection:

The Velocity Stripe fabric and waistband are directly inspired by the blurred colors of classic cars at speed. You barely see the cars, only their incredible streaks of pure energy and power. Octane Orange evokes a driver’s fireproof racing suit and Turbo Green revives classic sports car colours of the 70’s. Retro style on overdrive!

There are eight classic Cocksox cuts in the C-Force Collection-

The collection is made out of a ighh performance Supplex fabric, flat-seam stitching and super-soft waistbands. This is what you would come to expect from Cocksox.

This was not a subject you guys either feel strongly on or have tried them. We had a total of 17 guys fill out the survey, which is pretty low for us. However, I want to explore this subject more with the guys who took the time to take the survey and leave their email. Also, Google Forms can suck it, I have had two issues with “Option 1” showing up when I changed them to the right type of answer. I double checked it before I posed.

Have you ever tried a subscription service?

What made you sign up?

How would your rate your experience?

Here are the comments featuring the pro’s to a subscription:

I like the thought of getting a surprise once a month in then mail.
its always fun to get new undies and to try new brands
The style and price.
The excitement of what you are getting in the next batch/post
New undies without thinking about it
it was fun to get new underwear without really any effort
Getting a new pair of underwear every month and being able to try new brands and designs.
Gave me options I wouldn’t normally try
Random new pairs from different brands on an expected basis
Variety and surprises
possibility to buy labels difficult to buy here in Brussels
I would get New pair of briefs every month.

The Cons are:

The designer was using the subscription service to dump obvious second-rate merchandise on subscribers. Two examples: One jock had legs that were sewn properly. Another item, a thong, had other obvious manufacturing flaws.
sometimes i felt like i was getting bottom of the barrel underwear that they were just trying to get rid of
Quality and size you had to up size wasn’t good. I found paying US $ and the items came from China. The sizes were not correct you had to guess and up size one to two sizes larger.
Not able to deviate from the line you have chosen….no choice between Brief/Boxer/Thong or whatever
Much of the fun of new underwear is shopping and browsing.
most of the styles I got were boring
Never received a few shipments. Also being uncertain if what was being sent would be from a brand that would be comfortable for my body type.
I like skimpier cuts for thongs/strings/jockstraps and they didn’t really offer those so I canceled.
Over time the service became expendable. I couldn’t justify the purchases.
Sometimes the pick was just OK
some labels of very bad quality
They wanted to curate to my likes but I couldn’t give good feedback that they would use for the next pair if I didn’t like one.

UNB has been a passion project of mine for over 10 years. If you are a regular reader, you already know that UNB is a site dedicated to true underwear/gear lovers and a community to bond with guys no matter sexual orientation, race, or anything. I have made some fantastic friends through the blog. Such as our former asst editor Salvatore. He’s a straight guy but we bonded first over undies, and now we are life long friends and still talk often.

However, when you encounter guys or people outside of the underwear world (by this I mean people who don’t get underwear), I get strange looks at the time. They think that I am running a sex or hook up site. It’s like I’m the Larry Flint of the underwear world. This is the look I am sometimes given by gay and straight people.

As many of you know, I am a gay guy running the site. I have tried to keep a welcoming site that accepts everyone. As we have seen the straight guys have come to the site and joined as writers and assistant editors. This has been the goal since I started the site. I wanted all guys to read it not just gay guys. Did I ever think this would happen in the first 10 years, I did not. But it shows you put out a passionate product it will connect with people.

In the last year or so I have wanted to focus on building a community. Over the 10 years of UNB, we have pivoted a few times in our goals. This one is super important to me. More guys are sharing their love of underwear and gear online, without hesitation. Some are doing it with 100% transparency. People like Scruffy Gear, UndieLover24, and Sixfootfiveguy all are living their best underwear/gear life.

When we first started UNB, there were not many ways to really put yourself out there. Now we have Instagram, Snapchat, Tumblr (well up till last year), and more. It’s no longer shameful or strange to love underwear. It’s becoming more natural, and I think some guys are asking themselves “Why am I not rocking the Pink Thong (or insert any good pair of undies)?”

We have started to interview influencers on social media and profile “real guys.”  Sometimes the real guys showing off could be model material. But they aren’t guys we are paying for shoots they are doing it themselves and showing off. These guys all have agreed to be featured on the site which is fantastic. I hope we get a lot more guys to join in and share their love of underwear.

This brings me to another thing I get asked. I have teamed up with Scruffy Gear Blog. He’s one of the most amazing guys out there. Super friendly, down to earth and someone I would definitely consider a friend. I have been asked by people “Why are you promoting another underwear blog?” The short answer is we are all in this together and should all be on the same team.

The long answer is I love to support people doing great things. This includes brands, stores, models, photographers, influencers and other bloggers. We all are doing different things, and there is room for everyone in the space. There are very few people in the world of underwear that I don’t like working with, and those who I don’t build a community I prefer not to work with at all. It’s actually rare brands, and others are banned from UNB. Life is too short and why hold a grudge. Do I hold a grudge for some? That’s a story for another time. And I’ll likely be in Vegas when I tell it. LOL

I should do more to promote them and Men and Underwear. The other blog that I love. It’s something I have on the road map for this year. And if you run a blog feel free to reach out. It’s great to find guys who are bloggers.

UNB and my personal life

I made a decision back when UNB started that the blog is not about me. It’s about the industry focusing on brands, retailers, models, photogs and real people. I was having a discussion with Scruffy Gear blog I wish I had made it more about me, and we commiserated on the pros and cons of both ways of doing a blog. I mean both have their good and bad sides. And neither one is the best way to do a blog.

This is a little inside baseball, but I try to put more of myself in the blog this past year but after years of making it “journalistic” it is hard for me to dive right in and share. I want to keep it objective, but I keep telling myself it’s a blog and I can put in my personal feelings and such when I feel it’s necessary. So as the year goes on you will see more. Plus I have body issues too. I’m a bigger guy who loves undies. I haven’t always been, and I go up and down. So I am very self-conscious on the whole thing. I shouldn’t be, but I am.

UNB has affected my personal life. As I mentioned above when I make friends or potential dates, I’m always upfront about UNB and what it is about and the future of the site. I got the idea for this post from someone who was having issues with their partner and undies (or could be issues). I’m of the school of dating where you are honest and upfront. I know in the world of online dating it’s not common. Most want to put the best version of their self out there and then let people know the other stuff. UNB I’m pretty upfront around the 2-3 time talking. Some people get what I am doing, turning my passion into a positive thing and making it a job. While others get creeped out and are like “that’s a weird thing to do.” Yes, I have had someone straight up tell me that. And with that, I said “NEXT.”

UNB is in my DNA and its something I have a love/hate relationship with, lol. Some say I’m energized and on top of the world with the site. The other days it’s like “Do I have to update it? I don’t want to work; I have no creative energy.” But it usually goes back to the right side after a while. In the 10 years, there was only once I considered selling the site, but that lasted about 10 mins after the offer was made, and I said no!

I am not going to be with someone, dating that is, who isn’t 100% ok with UNB. If you don’t get it and don’t want me to do it, well we won’t be dating. I have no issue sitting down with a guy and showing them the site and explaining precisely what I do and show them the business I have built. It’s not a fortune 500 biz, but it is something I am proud of, hell it’s the job I have had the longest! I think UNB grounds me and keeps me steady. One reason for this is it changes from one year to the next. I go look through the archives for TBT and see how I and the site has grown. It keeps changing and growing, and that’s what the magic is for the site.

UNB is a Dirty secret

I say this because we have had more than one guy join, only to leave once their partner, bf, gf, husband or wife, found out they were writing on an underwear blog. We have had several guys this has happened to, so anytime a guy comes on the site who is dating or married, I specifically ask A. if their partner is supportive and knows they are writing for the site. B. that their partner is ok with us sending review pairs to them. You wouldn’t believe the number of times we sent undies to review and their partner intercepted it and interrogated them on who is sending them undies.

It’s incredible how many guys keep their love of undies as a little secret. In the world of “fetishes,” this is pretty tame. I don’t consider myself an underwear fetish guy but an underwear lover. A fetish is “any object or nongenital part of the body that causes a habitual erotic response or fixation.” As defined by dictionary.com. Underwear to me is a lifestyle. Underwear is more than just sexual to me, granted we all have our stories that involve undies! But it’s about comfort, fashion, and confidence. I pick underwear due to what the day may hold. If I’m feeling down, I usually wear one of my favorites. If it’s going to be active something that gives support. If I have to present or do something like that, a pair that is wild and makes me smile knowing I have on a leopard Cocksox bikini under my pants and none of these people watching me know that.

I think so many see underwear as something personal and we never share it. When we do, they think we are wanting to either show off our sexual side or attract someone into it for fun on the side. Since they equate underwear, especially designer underwear, on the sexual side, they don’t see what we are doing. We need to point out to them there is more than just the sexual side with undies. Once they understand that, I think they will see UNB like a travel or food blog. It’s something you enjoy, but it’s not a “fetish.”

This is part of the reason I think we have seen the growth of straight guys reading the site. They realize that we are about comfort and underwear. They feel welcome here and a place they can be themselves around guys who get them. Most of our gay readers are very welcoming to our straight readers. That’s because, in 10 years of doing the blog, our origin stories are so similar. It amazes me how much they are the same. We get each other and support one another. I have had so many conversations with straight guys about undies that are just amazing. I think they finally get a guy who gets it and it’s like the flood gate gets open, and they can connect with someone like they never have before. It’s like their own type of coming out. Gay guys can get away with cray and wild undies in society because we’re supposed to be sexual animals. Whereas straight guys shouldn’t be fashionable or embrace their sexual side.

WOW, I have really been on my soapbox for this post. I wasn’t expecting to write such a long post. However, I think a lot of this needs to be said, and I hope there are some of you out there who can use this to approach friends or people you are dating and be open and honest with them about undies. It’s not a sexual thing, it’s a lifestyle thing. I think honesty is always a good thing and will bring you a lot closer together.

UNB will continue to evolve and grow. I have no plans of quitting the blog anytime soon. I do wish I had a lot more help but right now it’s working for me, and I’m pivoting again and getting into a new groove. As we enter our 2nd decade, I don’t know what the future will hold, but I hope we bring in new guys into the world of amazing men’s underwear. And feel free to reach out to me anytime for advice, recommendations or just to say howdy and make a new friend. I will try to answer emails and DM’s as quick as I can!

Thanks for listening guys. Feel free to share your stories with us! We may profile you!

How did you discover your love of underwear, swim briefs, spandex and gear ?

Like most underwear enthusiasts it started at a young age. I was one of those curious young boys that would search for the colored flyers in the Sunday newspaper and look up the men’s underwear ads. When we would go shopping at department stores, I would separate from my mom and head to the men’s underwear section where I would marvel at all the boxes of underwear.

My mother was always fashionable, so she would buy me stylish underwear.  I wore mostly briefs and when I was 14, I started wearing lowrise bikini briefs. Since I was a dancer, I’d also have to wear thongs under my tight dance pants and tights.

It wasn’t until I was 18 when I had my first credit card that my underwear collection grew exponentially because I began ordering underwear like crazy! Most of my purchase were from Undergear.com. Since I was making my own purchases I was able to order skimpier styles.

What are you favorite styles to wear?

I like most styles of underwear, but don’t think I necessarily have a favorite. I wear trunks when I want comfort and when going to bed. I wear briefs when I want more support and freedom in the legs. I wear jockstraps in the summer when it’s warmer or when going out on dates. I wear thongs when I want to feel a little more sexy.

Why did you first start posting pics in underwear?

I started posting pics in underwear a little over 5 years ago because I figured why not share my collection and passion for underwear with others. I was also starting to feel more confident with my body and how I looked in my underwear. It gave me an outlet to express myself in a different way.

If you have a partner/husband/wife are the supportive of you sharing your love of underwear?

Currently single and ready to mingle!

Do you friends know about your IG and love if undies?

Although I’m private about my IG, I do have friends and family that know about my love for undies. Usually when I’m out shopping with friends I’m always buying underwear. If I’m making purchases online I ask for their opinion.

What have been some of the positive things that have happened since you started posting ? Did you have any negative experiences?

The most positive thing would be all the amazing friendships I have made. I not only admire them for sharing the same passion for men’s underwear, but for the encouragement and for helping me learn to embrace and love my body.

I don’t have any negative experiences worth sharing.

No matter the body type there are always people who will criticize you that you’re too big, too small, too young, too old, how do you deal with those?

This question has me reflecting on how I have been lucky to not receive any negative criticism. Honestly the only person who criticizes me constantly is myself. I have always been insecure about being on the small side (5’4”, 127lbs) but since posting so many people have taught me to embrace it.

One thing I have discovered is guys into underwear tend to be awesome guys. Have you made any friends that you may not have met otherwise?

Yes, we ARE awesome! lol I have definitely built some amazing friendships = that I would not have made otherwise. I am very thankful for the friendships I have made and hope they will continue for a very long time.

what is your favorite color of Underwear?

I’m not sure if I have a favorite color of underwear. I tend to buy a lot of navy, so maybe that’s my color. I also like black but sometimes I feel like wearing/buying bright happy colors.

Lastly, What is your favorite social media to post on? And what is your name on there?

If you would have told me that CharlieZ was going to come out with a Leather line I wouldn’t have believed you. But they have released a while new leather collection. It’s not really too far fetched thinking of how the brand has progressed the last few years. And it’s done very much in the style of CharlieZ

The new collection has underwear, harnesses and more. The underwear has three different styles, the jock, thong and brief. I really love this collection from them and glad to see a ‘mainstream’ brand embrace leather as fashion.

I love this line, it’s got a mix of the fetish and the classic design. It’s like CharlieZ studied the classic looks of the jock and made it into something new with leather. Plus, they are using different color leathers than black. I personally love brown leather in harnesses and gear. It’s pretty rare to find. But Charlie uses it along with white and red. I definitely tip my had to them.

Leather gear is never cheap. The undies start around $85 and the other gear goes up from there. But, good quality gear is always pricey when dealing with leather. If you want to start a collection buy good stuff and spend the money on it.

Check out the entire Leather collection at the CharlieZ site.

How did you discover your love of underwear, swim briefs, spandex and gear ?

I’ve always had a major undies fetish since I can remember. Definitely well before high school. I remember as a kid I used to grab the advertisements from the Sunday paper for each of the major department stores and bring them up to my room so I could check out the guys in their underwear. I didn’t find it of sexual nature at the time, but more of just a general interest for all the different style underwear. It was like looking at cars, which is another passion of mine. In addition to grabbing the ads from the paper, I used to make the effort to sneak away from my Mom while shopping and walk through the men’s underwear section of the department stores to check things out. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing all the different brands and styles and patterns and colors. It was my candy store!

As I got older and entered high school (all male private catholic HS BTW), I can remember being literally the only 14 year old wearing Calvin Klein boxer-briefs. Everyone else wore boxers and one guy wore briefs. I guess I was a trend setter since boxerbriefs weren’t a popular choice yet?! lol. But I was adamant about having good underwear even as as kid. I used to work pretty hard and would spend some of my cash on designer boxer-briefs. It wasn’t until my college years that I started to branch out and try new styles like bikinis and thongs, etc.

What are you favorite styles to wear? (Briefs, bikini thong jock boxer briefs, trunks and why do you prefer them)

I wear it all, although trunks are probably my least favorite on me because the legs tend to ride up so much that I may as well have just worn briefs. So that can be annoying. But if I had to choose, I’d probably say my favorite style is briefs and my wife’s favorite is probably a jockstrap.

My wife is usually the one to pick out my underwear each morning, which is a lot of fun for me. I’m usually in the shower when she’s rummaging through my underwear drawers finding the perfect pair for me to wear that day and I get so excited wondering what she’s picked out!

I feel so badly when I hear from other guys who are forced to wear boxers or boxerbriefs or trunks because their significant other thinks that’s what a man should wear. Like what is that?! Because I choose to also wear briefs or jocks or thongs in addition to those other styles that makes me less of a man?

It’s not ok to force your preferences onto someone. This isn’t to say it’s not ok to have a preference of what your man wears. Of course that’s ok! I prefer my wife to wear thongs but that doesn’t mean it’s ok for me to force her to wear them. Lucky for me that’s all she wears!

So I love that my wife knows my underwear preference is my choice and she supports my decisions of whatever I want to wear.

Why did you first start posting pics in underwear?

It was 5+ years ago and I just started to get curious about these feelings I was having about seeing guys in their underwear. I was unsure still at the time if my attraction was the underwear or the guy wearing the underwear. Anyway, I did a Google search for something along the lines of “guys in briefs.” One of the search results was a link to some guys Tumblr page. I had never heard of Tumblr before. Back then you could view someone’s Tumblr page, and if the page owner allowed, ask anon questions without actually having a Tumblr page yourself. I was hooked. This guy was such a stud in his undies and his bulge was unbelievable. Still one of the best bulges on Tumblr.

Long story short, after a few anon questions submittted, I decided to create my own Tumblr page so I could follow him. We connected and he asked to see me in my undies. My heart was beating so fast. I’d never done anything like this  before! So I ran upstairs, pulled my shorts down, and snapped a couple quick photos in the mirror of me in my light blue 2xist Colour briefs. I still have those briefs for sentimental reasons.

The pics were terrible! I didn’t clean the mirror and I had no idea how to take an undies selfie, but non the less, I sent it off to him. He enjoyed what he saw enough to take the time to convince me to start posting my own pics on my page. And so I did and that was the start of my first Tumblr page.

That’s how I first started, but it’s not the reason why I post now. I truly enjoy it. My whole reason for posting is not to gain attention, but to help educate men (and even women) that there are better undies choices to be made. I suppose this is why my pictures/posts are focused on the undies and not my body. It’s not about my body. It’s all about the undies for me.

If you have a partner/husband/wife are the supportive of you sharing your love of underwear? (Leave blank if you don’t have one)

My wife is extremely supportive of my love for underwear. When I had my initial Tumblr page, I told her about it and she followed it til the day I shut it down. It was really scary to tell/show her my page but she was extremely supportive and became a bit of undies addict herself. Years later I came back to Tumblr and now IG under my new name and I haven’t told her about either because I finally admitted to myself that I’m bicurious and I’m just not ready to share that with her. I don’t fully understand my curiosity yet, so how can I explain it to her if I don’t fully understand it myself?

This is why I have such guilt, sometimes, about having my IG page. My wife and I don’t have secrets. We’ve been together for 20 years, since high school, and we know everything about each other except this one thing that I’ve discovered about myself. And it’s a big thing. So the guilt gets to me, a lot. But I know I need this outlet to help explore and express that other side of myself. Some would say it’s cheating, but I honestly don’t think it is. I have no intention of ever being physical with a man regardless how strong the urge and desire may be at times because I love my wife and the life we’ve built over the past 20 years more than words could express and my curiosity isn’t worth breaking that up.  So I’ll probably always stay curious since I’ve never done anything with a man, and that’s ok. It’s often better to let fantasies remain fantasies because they can sometimes be such a let down when they become reality.

Do you friends know about your IG and love of undies?

Besides the friends that I’ve made through this underwear community, no. It’s not really something that comes up in conversation with my friends.

What have been some of the positive things that have happened since you started posting ? Did you have any negative experiences?

I’ve met some really amazing people, all of which have had a part in some fashion in helping me realize my bicuriosity and I’m thankful for that, despite being very confusing for me. Slowly I’m accepting myself for who I am and I don’t think I’d ever be here in my life without having been on Tumblr or IG.

Some of these guys have become true friends in real life and know my identity and follow my personal social media pages. I’m thankful for those friendships we’ve developed throughout the years.

With positive experiences there are sometimes negative experiences. It’s a part of life. Currently I’m taking a break from IG. I needed time to reset and get my head in a good place after an experience I had. My biggest character flaw is that I’m a people pleaser. And when I sense someone doesn’t like me all of a sudden it really messes with my  head because all I want to do is make others happy. It’s who I am.

There’s this guy on IG I was introduced to by a mutual friend. He seemed like an awesome guy and I felt we hit it off. We’d talk a lot, about anything, and shared a lot of heartfelt moments about our personal lives. But something happened and I don’t know what. He was chatting with me less and less. Meanwhile he was constantly chatting with another mutual friend and it seemed as though their friendship picked up where ours left off. Don’t get me wrong. I’m happy they chat a lot and are building a friendship, but yes it’s only natural for me to wonder what’s wrong with me. Why doesn’t he like me?

Long story short. One of the last conversations we had was in a group chat with the mutual friend that introduced us. This new friend wanted to share nudes and sent one. And our mutual friend sent one. And I replied “sluts” and immediately said I was kidding. We’ve joked like that before. He’s called me a bish. But I guess it didn’t sit well. Anyway after I said I was kidding I apologized and said I don’t have any nudes to share that they haven’t seen already, which is the truth. I’ve got a wife and two small kids at home. I can barely find the time to snap a couple undies selfies. But he wasn’t having it and said he deleted his pic because he’s not sharing if we all can’t share.

I felt badly. Really really badly. But the more I thought about it, why should I feel badly? I asked our mutual friend what just happened and he said that the friend feels that if he sends a nude he should get one back. I didn’t understand this. Sure, if I asked for a nude and didn’t reciprocate, then shame on me. But it was his idea and he sent a nude on his own accord and got upset when I didn’t reciprocate. To me that’s borderline bullying.

I wasn’t going to share this story because I know it doesn’t make me look good saying I’ve shared nudes. Rest assured it is not often that I have shared nudes. Hardly ever, in fact. But I tell this story because I want to remind people their actions can really hurt someone, especially if the person feels slightly bullied. It’s not ok. It’s not ok I feel horrible about this and I didn’t do anything wrong. It’s not ok that it’s messed with my head so much that I felt I had to step away from my IG. The one place I felt like I could be myself and be accepted for who I am as a straight married bicurious guy with a major undies fetish.

Anyway. I really hope he and I can start to build a friendship again. I really like him despite what occurred. He’s friends with two of my closest friends on IG and it would be amazing if we all could build friendships together.

No matter the body type there are always people who will criticize you that you’re too big, too small, too young, too old, how do you deal with those?

I’d like to say I ignore them, but it’s difficult. I can’t please everyone, but I can be proud of who I am and control my actions. For this reason you will never hear a bad word out of my mouth regarding how someone else looks in their undies. I always want to be supportive.

I love it when I see someone who has the confidence to post a pic of themself in their favorite undies. Confidence is probably the sexiest character trait anyone could possess.  We all come in different shapes and sizes. Just accept it and embrace it! Be confident in your own body. And if you’re not, then take the steps to change what you don’t like about yourself. But don’t base your decisions of not posting undies selfies on what you think others may think. Just because someone is super fit doesn’t mean they don’t love seeing a confident guy who might not be in the same shape as them post a pic of him sporting his favorite undies. That’s your perception, not theirs. Love yourself and share with the world what makes you happy!

Same goes for the guy that wants to try out new styles of underwear but is worried about being labeled. This is why I don’t like stereotypes. As far as I’m aware, the style or color underwear someone chooses to wear doesn’t dictate their sexual orientation or anything else about them. Speaking as a married straight (possibly bi) man, yes I agree I’m in the minority of men who wear jocks and thongs and briefs of all colors and materials. Until society stops labeling and making assumptions about people based on materialistic things like underwear choices, we will not make progress of moving toward a loving kindhearted world that’s unbiased and open minded. I know men, both straight and gay, who are apprehensive of trying different style underwear because they’re afraid of being labeled or questioned by society. They’re worried that their wife or girlfriend will think they’re gay because they’re  wearing a thong they find sexy and comfortable. They’re worried that the guy they’re crushing on will think they’re only interested in bottoming because they’re wearing a jockstrap they really like. When does it end? When will we understand that our underwear choices don’t dictate our sexual orientation! When will we stop preventing the guy next to us from making amazing underwear choices because they’re afraid of being labeled or their identity questioned? THIS is why men’s underwear fashion has slowly evolved because they’re afraid to make the choice they actually desire. They’re afraid to take that chance and try something new. I’m here to tell men, regardless of sexual orientation, race, relationship status, fat, skinny, fit, old and whatever else that there’s better underwear choices to be made and I’ll happily support them!

One thing I have discovered is guys into underwear tend to be awesome guys. Have you made any friends that you may not have met otherwise?

I can’t agree with you more! I’ve met some amazing guys throughout the years, one of which is you Tim. You’ve built a great undies community here and helped me to accept me for who I am and realize it’s OK to be me.

I’d say there’s 8 guys that I’d definitely consider as true friends and not just cool guys I know from Tumblr or IG. These are the guys that I’ve shared some of my personal life with be it pics of my face or my kids or my wife or my home or other aspects of my personal life. And in a couple instances we’ve even connected on our personal social media pages and have even texted with each other. I am forever grateful to these amazing guys and the friendships we’ve built. They all have made me a better man and more comfortable in my own skin.

What is your favorite color of Underwear?

White. There’s something so sexy about white underwear to me. I don’t necessarily mean tighty whities, but a white thong or a white pair of hip briefs. It’s just so pure and downright sexy. Woof.

Lastly, What is your favorite social media to post on? And what is your name on there?

Jude Law’s tight-whities moment while filming Sky Atlantic’s New Pope (https://www.deadgoodundies.com/2019/04/if-jude-law-can-do-tighty-whities/)caused quite a stir in the UK. Brits’ views on whether men should wear tiny underwear or swimwear tend to be extreme – total agreement versus total denial, even calls for a BAN!

UK men’s underwear and swimwear – and male brief specialists – Deadgoodundies.com is firmly in the YES Camp. “Of course there’s nothing wrong with male bikini briefs and in terms of our sales, the smaller the better,” say DGU.

Britons’ (over) reaction to tighty-whities might be more shrill than in other parts of the world. In some cases the UK response wasn’t far short of hysteria. And the image of a 46-year-old actor in a male micro prompted one national newspaper to round up four ‘real’ 46-year-olds and picture them in minuscule underpants.

DGU’s response is frank: “The reaction to the Jude Law pictures was weird, that men’s underwear has to be hilarious/scary/hidden. But it’s simple. Snug micro briefs are best sellers, always have been, always will be, because men like wearing them. Yes, they need to fit well and cover essentials, but beyond that, there shouldn’t be any limit on what age or shape the wearer must be. Leave a chap alone! Let him try the briefs he fancies, whether they’re pristine white, black, multicolour, silky, mesh, red, blue or green.” (https://www.deadgoodundies.com/mens-underwear/shop-by-style/mens-briefs)
