If you were a fan of the Maverick swimwear line from N2N Bodywear,  the line is back! If you aren’t familiar with the line, it’s a smaller line with a very enhancing pouch. You will show it off to everyone when you wear this pair. We wouldn’t recommend wearing it to a family friendly beach.

The Maverick is back in a bikini and thong. The Maverick bikini is definitely a bikini cut. It has a built in c-ring (double snap adjustable cock ring). The c-ring will take what you have and enhance it. It also has a Xtreme N-Hance pouch. The pouch along with the c-ring will put everything front and center. Lastly, the pair has a draw string and is unlined. Some guys this is important while other guys shy away from this because it leaves little to the imagination.

The Maverick Thong is back as well. We have had many questions to whether N2N Bodywear would release a swim thong. Well, wait no further here it is. It has the same features as the bikini. The built in c-ring, Xtreme N-Hance pouch, unliked but no draw string waistband. Thongs really don’t need one, especially swim thongs.

Both the lines are made out of an 83% nylon / 17% spandex fabric blend. The colors for the pairs are pretty awesome. The colors are green, mango, fuschia, and Pacific blue. Each one of the colors are bold and bright. But let’s face it the bold colors are just icing on the cake. The other features will draw attention to you more than the color.

Find both of these pairs at the N2N Bodywear Website.

Welcome to our brief talk on sexuality in Underwear.  Not Day or straight but feeling sexy in underwear to turn your partner on and carry it over into fun time with your partner

Unb Tim

Unb has always been a place where guys of all orientations can come together and talk about undies. Everyone is welcome and we try not to go too over the top with posts and pictures.  However, when talking to the ThongedGinger I learned something interesting.  Straight guys want to incorporate their over of underwear into sexy time.

Being a gay guy it’s pretty much mandatory who I date will improve their underwear drawer. It’s happened with every guy I date.  Most have kept wearing better underwear after we broke up.  I also tell them that great undies get rewarded.

So what is a guy to do? What seems to be the biggest hurdle in wearing sexy undies to bed with your Mate?

ThongedGinger

Well, Tim, the issue with straight men and not getting to enjoy more comfortable and sexy undies lies in what I believe 2 places. The male himself has preexisting thoughts and perceptions as to what a true “man” should wear, or the female he is with isn’t very encouraging and automatically thinks they might be gay and breaks up with them to prevent being hurt. That last one is actually true, my wife and I went through that one. The stigmatism for wearing a thong means that I am not a man to its truest form, which isn’t true at all. When you and think of an alpha male, does what he wears underneath really make or break him?

If I was a dude who secretly wanted to wear a thong and wanted to gauge interest in what my mate would say, you could go and find model photos like what we have on the site and see how she responds there. Next maybe see if she would be interested in you in one, then try it. I’m generally blunter, so I just told whomever I was with that I was going to do it and didn’t care the consequences. At the end of the day, if a couch needed to be moved, pictures hung, or car needed minor work I know I could still do it. The only way we can change perception is by making the perception seem ridiculous.

I mean at the end of the day gay and straight men are very alike, I’m pretty sure you and I have several things we enjoy and do that doesn’t set us apart except for the sexual orientation, am I wrong?

UNB Tim

I totally agree. When I started UNB, there was a big divide between gay and straight. Over the last 9 years, that has shortened. Guys, regardless of sexual orientation, want amazing undies. They want undies they feel sexy in and can express their personality. On top of that, they are tired of ill-fitting boxers and want some support.

I think straight guys get the “gay” wrap because you want to wear something against the mainstream. If you don’t fit in and are different, well you must be as well. This comes from both men and women. I have heard stories from readers over the year that their girlfriends asked if they were gay because they wore bikinis or thongs. Then telling them real men wear boxers, WTF? I would always tell them to dump them and get someone who supports them.

So this poses my question to you, Why do you think that women haven’t come on board with the world of men’s underwear?

ThongedGinger

I think you pretty much killed this question already. There is a set definition in the majority of men and women’s minds as to what a male should and shouldn’t wear. Deviating from that norm and you get your masculinity questioned. If I want to wear a pink frilly thong to work on my car, move furniture, or go to the gym then I should be able to without anyone questioning my masculinity. Being masculine really doesn’t have anything to do with what you wear or sexual orientation, I have seen several gay gentlemen whom I would consider more masculine than 90% of straight out there.

The good news is that this topic is way less taboo than it was say 10 years ago. I think now a lot more manufactures are creating thongs and bikinis targeted to the average male. I’m pretty sure UNB has grown with readers during this timeframe as well to go along with the rising demand of guys who want more options than just plain boxers, boxer briefs, and briefs. Nothing wrong with those but everyone should explore more in order to break this social norm.  What do you think could be done to break this social stereotype, Tim?

UNBTim

That’s the million dollar question. How do we get the general public to break the “gay” stereotype. I know in the 70’s (before many of our reader’s times) there were all kinds of bikinis, prints, and mesh. We had professional athletes in ads for Jockey. Hell, we had MLB star Jim Palmer sporting bikinis from the late 70’s through the early 80’s. Then the 80’s came and we got the boring period where it was white, gray and black. And then shortly thereafter the rise of the boxers. Which is finally going away! HUZZAH.

But before I got side tracked, back then your masculinity wasn’t questioned if you wore bikinis or something bold. It was pretty much to each their own. That is coming in men. I think a lot of guys are just fed up wearing crappy underwear. They want it for support and fashion. They don’t want to be limited to one style. Looks at women’s lingerie there are tons of styles they can choose from, it’s only limited by the imagination of the designer. No one bats and eye when they buy a thong or something sexy. The shop clerk doesn’t go “Oh I bet you are one of those lesbians.”

At UNB have welcomed straight guys from the beginning because we are all alike. That was something that has surprised me in the blog. Our origin stories are almost identical. Both gay and straight wanted and noticed great undies in early teens. It was the fit and feel we fell in love with. We have the philosophy “Wear what you want when you want.” It’s about having you partner feel supportive of you and your choices. This is for life in general and for underwear. I mean in the overall scheme of things, wearing sexy undies isn’t the worst thing in the world. I can think of a lot worse things.

So, after my rant. You are a married guy, when did you come out of the closet as an underwear lover to your now wife. Did she have issues or encourage you wearing sexy undies?

ThongedGinger

Well, my wife was a little apprehensive about it at first, but she finally came around to the fact that it’s what I wear and it makes me feel good about myself. Telling her was actually really easy because I had worn a few pairs before and knew it’s what I liked but stopped wearing them for fear of fitting in. So if you are on the fringe and unsure if you want to try some sexy undies and have a significant other, try a pair on the down low first and see if it’s something that you would want to continue. I would suggest referencing our Thongs 101 but Thebottomdrawer and Underweardude for where to get started. After that then tell them how you fell and I guarantee that they will be supportive if they know it will make you happy. If you are single, then just go for it and that should be a deal breaker if the person you are considering dating isn’t a fan of what you choose to wear underneath.

UNBTim

That’s awesome advice. I totally agree it should be a deal breaker. It is for me as well. There are gay guys who don’t get underwear (SHOCKER I know) and it’s something they have to be open to as well.

I hope you guys enjoyed this talk. We will have another talk soon!

Some guys were lucky and had a particular person influence their love for underwear. This wasn’t exactly the case for me. My admiration for underwear started in my teens. I loved catching glimpse of women in their underwear or swimsuits on TV shows and movies. Baywatch was a good one for this. Even seeing models in flyer ads and catalogs was something I sought out. You may think that sounds like a normal teenage boy. Personally, I considered myself more obsessed with it. Other guys rather see the naked girls while I’d prefer to see them in their bikinis and thongs. I definitely sought out after glimpses of them.

All I knew in guy’s underwear was boxers and brief. I had no idea there was more out there until one day I received a catalog in the mail. No it was not an underwear catalog. It was a catalog of catalogs. While browsing it to my surprise I came across a men’s underwear catalog listed. In the picture was a guy in a bikini brief! I was in shock that us guys did have sexier underwear that I have been admiring on women. The catalog was either Undergear or International male. I believe there was also another men’s underwear catalog listed that may have been Bodyaware.

Seeing that guys had sexy undies like the ladies got me wanting to get my hands on a pair. Of course living at home and not having a credit card made this a difficult mission to complete. Until one day in a Kmart ad I saw string bikinis for guys on sale. By this time I could drive, so I gave my parents a reason I needed the car to go to the store. When I got home and tried on my first pair, I knew I found my new found love. I loved how they looked and felt on. And now I knew why women liked to wear them.

I still wondered about a thong, but those weren’t in the local store. It wasn’t until college that my chance to experiment with underwear happened. With the Internet and a credit card, I was able to shop the web. Remembering the Undergear catalog I found their site. Seeing all that sexy underwear opened my eyes to new options. My first order from Undergear I had to included a thong. It was actually a g-string. When it came it was pretty much the same experience as my first string bikini. Loved the look and sexiness of it. Probably liked that it was a bit daring and against the norm.

I guess it wasn’t completely women that influenced my underwear journey. It was that catalog of catalogs that brought light to me that men had more options than boxers and briefs. Though if it wasn’t for my admiration of women in them, I don’t think those catalogs would have jumped out at me as much as they did. I don’t believe I would have wanted to know what wearing a bikini or thong would be like if I didn’t think they looked sexy on females. I also thought if I liked the looks of them on women then they should like the looks on me. This is why I attribute women to my journey into bikinis and thongs.

When we think about when we first get into undies, there are probably a few stores or people who stood out in encouraging you along the way. It could have been a store you found on vacation that had an amazing underwear selection. Or, it could have been a friend (in person or online) that exposed you to new brands and encouraged you to step out of your box and buy that thong you had your eye on.

I have a ton of these over the years. Now it’s a lot easier to love undies. Because back in the day there wasn’t an internet and that made it hard to discover new brands. There were also very few stores (that I knew of at the time) that sold “good” underwear. The one thing I found was the International Male catalog. Later to become UnderGear. On a side note, when I found out that UnderGear was being released I was so excited. An entire catalog of underwear and gear. Today that just seems crazy I would get so excited. But at that time there wasn’t anything.

International Male/UnderGear (IM/UG) exposed me to more fabrics, cuts, and colors. Some of the styles were incredibly skimpy and sexy. It was the first place I really saw thongs and skimpy bikinis. These hot guys were wearing it like it was no big deal. When new catalogs came in I would mark everything I wanted. At first, it was just wishing then one magical day I got an International Male Credit card with a $200 limit. I thought I had hit the jackpot. A 19-year-old with the ability to buy 200 bucks of undies? WOW this was unreal.

In the early days, you had to phone in your orders. Yes, you had to talk to an actual person. Most of the operators were women. I’m sure this made some guys never order the crazy stuff, but I didn’t care. I had to have the singlet, thong or jock I was ordering. I didn’t’ care who knew. Later the internet came and the rest is history.

UnderGear allowed me to embrace the wilder side of underwear. It showed me that erotic cuts can be a lot of fun. In the time of the grays, they had all sorts of colors. Any color you can think of, they had over the years. Lastly, UnderGear made me see that there was more to undies than briefs and boxers. It opened my eyes wide that allowed me to be the underwear lover I am today.

Who or what has influenced your underwear journey in the early years? How did they influence you?

The men’s underwear world if the magical world of color. Gone are the days that limited guys to just black, white, or gray. Those were what I called the dark days. All color went out of underwear and it was boring. Well, for the masses those of us who loved undies always found a way to get color in our undies.

Unlike previous days now color is an important factor for guys picking underwear. It’s always one of the top criteria guys list in our Reader Survey. It’s up there with fabric and sizing. It’s that important. No one reading this blog wants boring underwear. It’s a bold statement but I dare say it’s true.

Why is color important?

Yes, we do have fans who just like classic colors. Which there is nothing wrong with that, underwear is an extension of your personality. If that’s who you are, embrace it and rock those classic colors. If, however, you want to wear a pink bikini or purple thong, you have the option to get them!

Underwear is personal and we want it to match who we are or who we want to be. Meaning it depends on the situation. If you have to wear a power suit to work every day. You are limited into what you can wear. It’s mainly classic colors, Black, Navy, Grey and such. One area you can express your self in your undies. You could wear a lace thong under. Or maybe a jockstrap or on the other end of the spectrum, leather underwear. I always love matching my tie and undies.

Color is also Fashion

Underwear can extend your fashion sense. You can wear underwear that matches what you are wearing. I used to have a white and aqua striped polo and a matching bikini. I loved wearing them together. Not everyone wants to wear them together but want to compliment what you wear. If you spend $200 on jeans why would you wear $3 underwear with them? We firmly believe that your underwear should be up to the level of the clothes you wear.

How important is color for you? Let us know in the comments!

It’s time to stand out in swimwear. We have brought you a series of swimwear. This includes the starter swim brief, a thong and more. If you have ventured out into the world in a swim brief earlier in the year, now is the time to wear something fun and awesome. The Bruno Mens Wear Attitude collection is that pair. This line is just as the name says.

The Bikini Swimwear has a “psychedelic” print. Well, that’s what Bruno Mens Wear calls it. I call it a bright fun print. It’s not my definition of psychedelic but everyone has their own definition. The print is one of the best I have seen this year. It’s  one I definitely would wear on the beach.

It’s not a skimpy bikini. It’s definitely a brief cut. The sides look to be about 2 inches on each side. So, if you’re worried about it being too small I don’t think you will have that issue. The pair also has a draw string waist. This size is what I think most guys would be comfortable wearing out in public.

One thing I am not sure about is the price. Their site didn’t change prices after converting to English. Bruno Mens Wear is in Mexico, so I don’t think the price is $400. Their gear is always fun and well thought out. They have one of the most innovative design styles on the market today.

If you want something a little more subdued, there are plenty more swimwear in the Attitude collection. Just note that this line is a limited edition line. Once they are gone, they are GONE. If you want a pair get it now and don’t wait. You don’t want to come back in a few weeks and go “I should have gotten that pair!”

Ergowear is one of those brands that stepped up to release new pairs several times through out the year. The last release was swimwear but this is underwear. Specifically for those who want some classic cuts and colors. But, with an amazing pouch! The new collection is just six pairs in black or white.

Interested about the new Bum-Chums Styles?

The re-worked patterns appear to have undergone some careful thought and consideration too. Keeping their signature, bum-curve enhancing back seam to most of their designs, it appears as though the new style of underwear looks like this:

Briefs

Low-rise but still sculpted for the male form, our Signature Briefs have undergone the 2017 facelift and had some work done. We altered our leg binding to reduce irritation as well as give an opportunity for accenting on some styles. Our new Briefs are designed to be a snug-hip-fit and to give plenty of “room for manoeuvre” in the pouch area while being slimmer at the sides but fuller round the buttocks. Single layer pouch fronted, these brief styles come decorated with a top and bottom cover to reduce irritation and add styling.

Hipster

Low-rise but still sculpted for the male form, our Signature Hipsters have undergone the 2017 facelift and had some work done. With a cheeky-wink we know you all noticed the extra inch we slipped you on the leg binding. This is designed to reduce rolling and riding as well as give an opportunity for accenting on some styles. Our new Hipsters are designed to be a snug-hip-fit and to give plenty of “room for manoeuvre” in the pouch area. Single layer pouch fronted, these boxer styles come decorated with a top and bottom cover to reduce irritation and add styling.

Jock

Low-rise but still sculpted for the male form, our Signature Jock Strap has undergone the 2017 facelift and had some work done. With a little tweak, we altered our binding to be more comfortable and to make the Jock altogether more streamlined. It’s also given an opportunity for accenting on some styles. Our new Jocks are designed to be a snug-hip-fit and to give plenty of “room for manoeuvre” in the pouch area which should cup nicely round your sack of goods. Single layer pouch fronted, these thong styles come decorated with a top and bottom cover to reduce irritation and add styling, while the straps should give all the lift you need round those peachy cheeks.

Thong

Low-rise but still sculpted for the male form, our Signature Thongs have undergone the 2017 facelift and had some work done. With a little tweak, we altered our binding to be more comfortable and to make the Thong altogether more streamlined. It’s also given an opportunity for accenting on some styles. Our new Thongs are designed to be a snug-hip-fit and to give plenty of “room for manoeuvre” in the pouch area which should cup nicely round your sack of goods. Single layer pouch fronted, these thong styles come decorated with a top and bottom cover to reduce irritation and add styling.

With styles available in Hipster, Brief and Thong and Jock, priced £13.99 – £15.99, available online and to be added to later.

aussieBum Clan Underwear

Hey Lumberjacks, match your undies to your plaid shirt! Even if you aren’t a lumberjack, but a fan of plaid then aussieBum has brought back for a limited time the underwear line Clan. It features three plaid colors in two styles. You can pick either a brief or hipster. They call the colors vibrant though to me they look kind of faded. Guess I think of richer, darker colors when I think of plaids. The plaid prints were inspired by the traditional tartan heritage prints.

The three colors aussieBum is offering in the print are Argyll, Arran, and Skye. Argyll’s palette is of oranges and yellows with some reddish or pink in it. Arran’s pattern is of white, black, red, and some orange. Then Skye is shades of blue with white and black. All three colors in both styles have a white waistband with aussieBum on it in red. Also, both styles and all colors have white piping around the leg openings.

The underwear fabric is made out of 92% polyester and 8% elastane. They are proudly made in Australia. You can machine wash them cold, but do not throw them in the dryer. They recommend to line dry them in the shade. If you don’t like to use a drying rank then you may want to pass on these.

Don’t miss out on the Clan line, since they just brought them back for a limited time. It’s not too often you see underwear in a plaid print expect maybe boxers and low-quality department store undies. Not a pattern I have in my drawer. Now if they offered them in a bikini or a thong I’d be game for them. If you like hipsters or briefs then get them before it is too late. Hard to say when or if aussieBum will bring them back again.

BRAND: aussieBum
PAIR: Clan
NEW COLORS: Argyll, Arran, Skye
FABRIC: 92% Polyester 8% Elastane
SIZES: S – XL
COST: Brief – $21.50; Hipster – $23.25

We got a chance to interview a new model coming on the scene. You have seen him in a recent shoot with Jockstrap Central. That model is Simon Marini. I think we will see a lot more of him in this industry and you can say you saw him on UNB before he got HUGE. We got to ask him some questions so you guys can get to know him better.
Why did you want to get into modeling? Why underwear/swimwear underwear/swimwear?
I always admired models, never thought it was something I could actually do. I grew up with a lot of insecurity, dealt with anxiety and depression as well. I actually got into stripping while in a group counseling course for anxiety and depression, it was something I always wanted to try, so I forced myself into it as a sort of exposure therapy to overcome social anxiety. Given the certain negative connotations that go with stripping I knew it wasn’t something I wanted to do forever, so I felt modeling was the perfect next step, and with the confidence, I gained from stripping I finally felt like it’s something I could do.
You are a relatively new model, what do you think are your best qualities for modeling?
Good question haha, I still feel like I don’t know what I’m doing at most shoots. I’m told I’m a natural though, and apparently, have a great profile, so let’s go with that.
You have done a few shoots with Jockstrap Central, what was it like to work with them?
Working with Jockstrap Central was great! The shoots were a blast, very relaxed and fun.
Underwear has many styles from boxer briefs to thongs. Do you have any pairs you don’t want to wear on a shoot?
I’m always down for whatever the photographer feels will look best.
Are there any underwear/swimwear brands you’d love to work with? Why?
I’ve worn 1 pair of Oryx in a shoot and they were crazy comfortable, really liked them, would proudly rep their brand. Other than that it’s been cool to work with Calvin Klein, simply to follow in Marky Mark’s shoes (or undies I guess lol).
Since you are new tell us about what you do in your spare time and what are your passions. We heard you have a background in MMA.
Well, I’m kinda boring haha. I work as a personal trainer so I basically live in the gym. I just got a new old English Bulldog puppy, so she absorbs a lot of my free time now as well. Other than lifting and puppy cuddles though I enjoy just hanging out with friends.
I used to fight professionally, I had 15 pro MMA fights in my career, with my last bout being with Bellator. It was a fun ride, but along the way I got burnt out and lost my passion and drive for it so eventually just hung up my gloves. I still train occasionally, but nothing too serious.
What type of fitness regime do you do to keep in shape, and does it change when you do a shoot?
I’m usually in some kind of lean bulking program. My goal is to be HUGE, but I don’t like putting on too much fluff so it’s a slow and constant battle. When I have a shoot coming up I may increase my cardio a bit, but most of the changes occur in my diet. A bit of carb restrictions, and just overall tightening up of everything.
Models can’t always eat great what is your favorite guilty pleasure in food?
Burgers, pizza, and cheesecake. I could eat those in endless amounts haha.
We are an underwear blog so what makes up your underwear drawer? (what percentage of briefs, boxer briefs, jocks, thongs do you have?)
I pretty much solely own boxer briefs. They’re the most comfortable in my opinion, especially since I’m almost always in the gym.
What is one word that describes you?
Real. I tend to be very open and honest, no bullshit, and no sugar-coating.
If you were stranded on a deserted island what is one thing you must have with you?
A very attractive, short blonde, with a big squat booty  lol
What is your favorite color
Purple
What is a fact about you that would surprise our readers? (are you shy? Love disco? Know all the words to Star Wars?)
Well given that I’ve fought professionally and stripped professionally, it’s probably surprising that I’m still shy lol.
Quick Fire Questions:
  • Thong or jock? Jock
  • What was the last movie you saw?  War for the planet of the apes
  • Swim Brief or Trunk for the beach? Brief
  • What is your favorite movie?  Too hard of a question! Always changing lol
  • Do you work out in the morning, afternoon or night? Cardio and abs in the morning. Weights either afternoon or evening, or both.
  • Would you ever wear a swim thong?  Totally would, if only for the comic relief
  • What color swim do you look best in?  I’m gonna say purple just cause it’s my favorite color, but to be honest I have no clue
  • Favorite beach in the world? Havent been to many beaches in the world so hard to say. However, the one in the movie The Beach with DiCaprio looked pretty damn amazing lol
  • Dream trip you’ve always wanted to take? Well since I just mentioned it, wherever they went in that movie would be unreal. Live off the land in a gorgeous beach paradise, surrounded by fields of weed.
  • Fav style of underwear? (Brief, bikini, thong, jock, etc) Boxer briefs
  • Cats or dogs? Dogs all the way. I’d take dogs over people lol
  • Comedy or Drama? Comedy most of the time
  • Would you be the only guy on the beach in a swim brief? Wouldn’t bother me if I was
What are your goals for modeling?
The main goal is to just have fun. But if modeling could help me build and grow my online fitness/nutrition/lifestyle coaching that would be incredible.

Still in the process of getting a website going, but you can find me on Instagram @vitruvianhulk

This year has seen a lot of releases from N2N Bodywear. It seems just when I think they can’t release anything else…BAM! Here is something new. The newest is the Mojave Spring collection. Which to me is super hot! It comes with a branded waistband, a great one for waistband fans. And in five styles and three different colors.

Let’s first talk about the styles. They are available in a jock, thong, bikini, bikini brief and a boxer. Most of our readers will the first four styles. However, we do have boxer brief fans who will love the boxer. I will say this about the boxers from N2N Bodywear, they fit amazing and they pay attention to the pouch.

Speaking of the pouch! It’s a contoured pouch. I was thinking it looked like the N-hance pouch but the official description says “contoured.” The N-hance pouch is my all time favorite pouch by N2N. Each of these pairs will give you amazing support through the pouch.

The waistband is amazing. I am a big waistband fan and love ones that look cool. This one definitely does. The N2N logo in the waistband really looks great reversed from the darker color of the stripes. Not everyone is a waistband fan, but if you are this is a pair for you!

The three colors are Green, Blue, and coral. Green is my favorite color and glad to see them making it in this line. One last thing is the fabric. It’s a 90% cotton 10% spandex blend. Meaning it will fit you very well and move through out the day. Making it a perfect pair for working out just hanging out around the house.

If you love this line. Click the links below for your favorite pair.

I was talking to a friend this week and he told me that he wears boring underwear to work but fun stuff on weekends. This made me go “HUH?” This friend is not one that has to change at work or be in a position to have his coworkers see his choice of underwear. I inquired why he did this, he informed me that he wanted to focus on work and not undies.

This made me inquire more about that statement. He continued to say that he gets distracted when he wore “sexy” undie to work. This guy is a suit and tie junior executive type. I think it’s the feeling of being naughty. If he wore a thong he would feel the suit pants against his skin in the back. I asked what he wore, he said usually black trunks were his undies of choice to work.

This got me thinking, do we have readers who do this? I know we have a ton of guys that love to wear thongs, bikinis and even lace to work. They really want to be comfortable and it’s not a thought about what to wear. We even have guys on our staff that wear thongs to work on a regular basis.

There are is a subset of guys who view underwear as sexual. More so than most of us. To them, the underwear represents having a good time and getting ready to get buy. That they associate underwear with sex. There is nothing wrong with that at all. All of us want to wear something that makes us feel amazing before that special night. This is how my love of underwear started. Over the years it just became part of who I am

Over the years it just became part of who I am. I love to incorporate the love of undies in with my special times. But I don’t fully associate them with sex anymore. We have a really cool Brief Talk coming up where we discuss this topic amongst gay and straight guys. Be on the look out for it in August.

What is your underwear of choice for work and why?

PICTURE is by Andrew Christian featuring Model Arad.

Andrew Christian furnished a brief from its “Massive Icon” collection for review.

Rating9.6/10

  • Daily Fit: 9/10
  • Sizing: 9/10
  • Construction: 10/10
  • Styling: 10/10
  • Daily Performance: 10/10

Pros:

  • 4-way stretch fabric (90% polyamide, 10% spandex) provides all-day comfort
  • Pouch enhances your profile better & is more comfortable than AC’s “Show It” collection
  • Fabric’s unusual pattern makes this brief a must-have winner

Cons:

  • Leg bands are slightly tighter than other AC products
  • The pouch initially seems like it will provide less room area than found in the “Almost Naked” line, but the 4-way stretch fabric overcomes this deficiency
  • This limited edition brief will sell out quickly

Osgon’s Recommendation:  A Strong Buy!

I’ve loved Andrew Christian products for years, as evidenced by dresser drawers filled with AC boxer briefs, briefs, jock straps, thongs, and swimwear.  I also own several items of AC athletic wear (and even a sweater).  So imagine my excitement when UNB Tim asked me to review the new Icon brief from AC’s “Massive” collection.

My test involved a day of running errands, putting together a new aquarium, and a brief stint outdoors.  These events provided opportunities to bend, squat, lean, lunge, lift, stand, walk, and – not surprisingly in this Texas heat – sweat.  The fabric and construction of the garment were up to the task, and the brief performed exceedingly well.  The brief held my kibbles and bits firmly in place, without even the slightest need to readjust.  Everything also stayed nice and dry due to the moisture wicking properties of the polyamide-spandex blend fabric.  The unusual, limited-edition print provided visual novelty.  I hope AC continues providing similar forward-leaning fabric patterns in future editions of its “Massive” collection.

I have only two criticisms of this brief.  First, I’m a huge fan of AC’s “Almost Naked” collection, and this brief has only about ninety percent of the initial roominess of cotton versions of the Almost Naked line.  Rather than have everything fall comfortably into the pouch when slipping on this underwear, one has to place one’s equipment into the pouch.  It’s not a deal breaker, but it is something that was unexpected.  Second, the leg elastic was tighter than that found in most other AC products.  It was not uncomfortable, but it was slightly tighter.  I don’t feel either criticism warrants purchasing a larger size, but each merits your consideration.

In sum, I loved the Icon brief from AC’s new Massive collection.  Any guy who enjoys an unusual pattern and the anatomically correct pouch will be happy he added this brief to his top drawer rotation.

At last check, AC does not have this brief available at its official online store.  A jock strap is available there.  A google search shows other online stores have the brief in stock.  If you like this pattern, order it A.S.A.P.; you won’t be disappointed.

Being the editor of an underwear blog, I have to be open-minded and willing to try anything. I have tried some interesting things over the almost 9 years of UNB. From the not so crazy (thongs and jocks), to more cutting edge (Lace and Satin) to some really fun fetishwear. I”m usually up for anything.

Just recently I want to try a body suit. Not just any body suits but one from BodyAware. I don’t know why I have this sudden urge to wear one. I have never worn one but have seen many suits over my life. The ones that have caught my eye have been those with a jock or thong background. I think this may stem from me wanting a men’s gymnastic suit (the one they wear under the pants and shorts) when I was younger. I always thought they were awesome.

BodyAware has more of the Thong back bodysuits. I’m not sure I could wear one all day. But the Modern Jock Bodysuit (pictured above) is one I would love to try out. The bodysuit has one drawback, it’s difficult to go to the bathroom. Most I have seen you have to take completely off, which makes it impractical for everyday or work wear. I mean they would look at little strange at you at work, at the urinal taking off your shirt.

A bodysuit is something that would be a limited war situation. Like out to a movie or something low key. I don’t want to wear it all day and all night. This one I find super sexy because of the black color. Black is super sexy and they tell me slimming. Also, it looks amazing. Granted, I won’t look like the model in it but wearing under a button up shirt would be great. Because, your undershirt aka bodysuit, wouldn’t ride up or come untucked. This is one of the biggest advantages for me. Being a bigger guy in size and height. It can be a pain to have to constantly tuck in my shirt. Lastly, the jock back gives it a bit of a naughty feel to me, which is a good thing. Just will give me that extra bounce in my step.

I’m still debating what I want, but I will keep you guys posted. If you think I should try another let me know in the comments below. Or if you have tried them now let me know how you like them!

We got a chance to interview one of my favorite models DW Chase. We hope you enjoy it as well

Why did you want to get into modeling?

Assuming that means “why” did I get into modeling? Out of boredom honestly. I was a country boy from the backwoods of NC and started posting on Myspace before I started getting serious and getting legitimate offers to do professional photoshoots.

Why underwear/swimwear underwear/swimwear?

Being short, not particularly having a great face, I decided to focus more on my body and then my body hair, which lent itself to less clothing. I became very interested in wearing and promoting swimwear since I moved to an island after college. American’s seem to terrified of men wearing “speedos” or smaller, more comfortable swimwear, so I wanted to be apart of helping educate and making that more of a normal concept.

What do you think sets you apart from other models in the industry?

That I have never been with an agency. My degree is in mass communication and I’ve never understood why most models, or these Instagram stars, sign with agencies when they could book their own shoots and get their own stuff published online. It just takes the incentive to do so. I try to keep my work very updated, and always strive to push forward where a lot of these models you will see them get popular for a small period of time and then disappear.

What shoots have you done so far?(Which brands/photogs have you worked with?

At the moment of this interview, I have completed 112 shoots. I have been lucky and blessed enough to work with talented photographers from all over the globe. Ev Dylan, Calvin Brockington, David Wagner, those photographers really helped shape my image and modeling work early on. Recent photographers like Tyson Vick, Carlos Trey Salazar and Jeffery Beasley have helped push me into new territories of male modeling. I have worked with so many great brands like CA-RIO-CA, Manus, LASC, Mertailor, Marcuse, CharliebyMZ, Salem Alba, Mahjii, the list of swimwear goes on and on.

Underwear has many styles from boxer briefs to thongs. Do you have any pairs you don’t want to wear on a shoot?

I have worn some pretty outrageous stuff over the years, so no, I’ll model anything if the concept, vision, and circumstance is good.

We have seen you in a lot of swimwear shoots, why do you tend to do more swim shoots?

Because I live on an island, I am always in the sun, at the beach. My interest in travel is always somewhere with an ocean or body of water, so I always try to schedule or set up a photoshoot when I travel. Brands are always sending me items to include on photoshoots. It’s just where my interest is.

Are there any underwear/swimwear brands you’d love to work with? Why?

So many great ones I haven’t worn or modeled for yet. Aronik interests me, Ildes have great designs, but honestly, I love discovering new brands that maybe have not hit the mainstream yet. I am always looking to turn someone on to a new brand.

Which photographers would you love to work with on a project?

I want to work with Jorge Rivas again, I have reached out to photographer Menelik Puryear (HardCiderNY) numerous times, he is one of my favorite artists. I would also love the change to work with Paul Freeman and Hayden Su before I call it quits.

You are always posting pics of you in swim briefs on the beach. Have you ever been the only guy in them on the beach when everyone else was in shorts? If so how did you feel?

I find myself the ONLY guy on the beach many times, ha ha. I typically seek out secluded beaches where other people don’t frequent. I am not one for crowds. However, yes, many times, I am the only one in briefs. I wear them because they look better, fit better, are more comfortable, dry quicker and create a much better tan line.

Outside of modeling and working out what do you do in your down time? What are your hobbies and interests?

I have 5 jobs, I rarely have down town outside of work, modeling and fitness training. Whenever I do have free time I like to travel, skateboard, bike and just chill on the beach. I cook a lot too, prepare most of my meals.

What type of fitness regime do you do to keep in shape, and does it change when you do a shoot?

I maintain the same regime all year long, including diet. You won’t ever hear me saying “getting my body back”. I believe in consistency, I’m always ready for a shoot. I don’t take a break from healthy eating or regular workouts.

Models can’t always eat great what is your favorite guilty pleasure in food?

Sure they can, most just choose not to. The only pleasure food I allow myself is sweet tea. I forbid all other bad things from my diet and have for years. I prefer abs over food.

We are an underwear blog so what makes up your underwear drawer? (what percentage of briefs, boxer briefs, jocks, thongs do you have?)

My closet is all briefs. One of my favorite underwear brands right now is Skull & Bones, I did a shoot for them last year, and they are super comfortable.

What is one word that describes you?

conundrum

If you were stranded on a deserted island what is one thing you must have with you?

Logically a knife

What is your favorite color

Grey

What is a fact about you that would surprise our readers? (are you shy? Love disco? Know all the words to Star Wars?)

That my “DW Chase” persona is nothing like me. I don’t party, I don’t go out, I don’t drink alcohol, I don’t curse, and I am not sexually active.

If you are anywhere in the States I swear it’s a freakin’ heatwave. From the West to the South East. Temperatures in Atlanta have been 90 degrees plus and with 80-90% humidity. It makes going outside miserable. Also, in the west such as AZ, NV and CA it’s been at or near record temperatures. It makes you want to wear the least amount of clothes possible.

However, many out there has a dress code for work. Meaning, it could be a uniform, suit or business casual. There is no way around it. You can wear underwear that will keep you cool throughout the day. There are several ways to choose the best underwear for a cool day!

The first is fabric. Unlike the old days, men’s underwear now comes in so many different fabrics. One of my all time favorites I love to wear in the summer is Modal. It’s lightweight, breathes and feels barely there. It is the “perfect” fabric for hot and humid weather. N2N Bodywear and Cocksox have created underwear out of the fabric and it’s in my summer underwear drawer. Unfortunately, the Cocksox Backstage isn’t made anymore but the briefs are ideal. I’m sure your favorite brand has modal in many pairs.

Another fabric to choose is mesh. I’m not talking the 100% see through but more of the sports mesh line. It’s a solid fabric with small holes in it. One current example is the Andrew Christian Blow Mesh Boxer. AC has always done mesh. While I know mesh is not for everyone but I think it’s something to consider!

The last way you can keep cool is by the cut of your underwear. Go with the dare to bare pairs. I”m talking thongs, jocks and anything skimpy. The less coverage the more airflow you will have down there. One thing I really hate is having to wear long boxer briefs on a hot day. It’s annoying AF. My wearing of jocks go up in the summer. One of my favorites is the Papi Premium Cotton Jock. It has a small waistband with matching leg straps.

We would love to hear some of your favorite summer underwear you wear. Leave a comment or let us know on social.

I”m running a bit behind on reporting the results. Coming down with Bronchitis for about two months made me not want to touch Excel to do the tabulations. There is still much more to do but here are the initial results. I hope you’re ready for an amazing slide show of graphs! Graphs are super exciting and sexy… NOT. But here is your peek in the other readers underwear drawers.

Most guys have 20-70 pairs in their collections. Which makes up about 50% of our readers. However, we have 21% who have 150 pairs or more. This number shows we have some underwear super fans!

How often do you guys buy underwear? The results are much of what I expected. It’s every few weeks to months almost ties every few months. Very few of you guys buy weekly.

How do you buy Underwear? Do you buy it on sale, at regular price? We are curious. Most of you buy a mix of on sale and at regular price. That’s the way I buy it. If it’s a pair or brand I really want or like. I will pay full price. Sales are important to you guys but not the only factor.

What is your favorite style to wear? This year we gave you a few options to choose from. Again the briefs and bikinis rank as the top two pairs. However, thongs have come up big this year and is a close third. If this keeps up they will overtake bikinis. Also, Jocks were high on the list. It surprised me it was so high.

What do you wear on a regular basis? This is what do you wear and what’s in your collection. It almost mirrors the one above. The boxer brief is higher in this than favorite styles. But Briefs still are the top style.

Do you wear more than one pair a day? 44% of you guys said you do. We will be talking more about this in a future post. We asked why you do or do not wear more than one pair a day.

Who Influences your buying decisions? I’m happy to see Underwear blogs. We try to expose you to new brands and styles. But Brands from emails and significant other rounds our the top 3. I’m a little surprised that reviews didn’t rank higher.

Has UNB influenced your buying decisions? This is something we have heard anecdotally but not directly from readers at large. It was great to see that 75% of you said we influence what you buy. We will go into more detail soon and hope to keep influencing you guys.

Where do you buy your underwear? We changed up this question this year. Instead of asking you on a scale we just wanted to know which you shop. Before I get started with the post here is the info about this video:

At Broadway Bares 2017, a shirts-versus-skins lacrosse scrimmage heated up the stage when Anastasia‘s Kyle Brown coached a crew of sweaty, muscled men. Ericka Hunter and Katie Webber gave the game co-ed flair as they strutted and stripped their protective gear in the athletic number. “Scrimmage” was choreographed by Charlie Sutton.

Produced by and benefiting Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, Broadway Bares: Strip U raised $1,568,114 in two performances on June 18, 2017 at New York City’s Hammerstein Ballroom. Broadway Bares: Strip U was directed by Nick Kenkel, who also created the Strip U concept.

Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS is one of the nation’s leading industry-based, nonprofit AIDS fundraising and grant-making organizations. By drawing upon the talents, resources, and generosity of the American theatre community, since 1988 BC/EFA has raised more than $285 million for essential services for people with AIDS and other critical illnesses across the United States.

I have been following Broadway Bares for a few years. BB for short, is a show where broadway actors/dancers put on to raise money for AIDS/HIV charities. As the name suggests the stars get naked by the end. But before they do they usually strip down to a jock or thong.

The reason I like it is, the show is just fun. It’s sexy and it shows how underwear in a good light. It shows that thongs and jocks are sexy and should be worn. I think if we had more shows that do this we would have greater acceptance in underwear in general across the general public. This is just my opinion. And great job this year to Broadway Bares!
