rounderwear-worldcupThe world cup is underway. You can show your team’s spirit in what you wear including your underwear. That is if you’re a fan of soccer/football. I personally don’t follow the sport but its one of the biggest sporting events in the world! So why not support you country and show your patriotism!

Rounderwear has released limited edition sets in their Anatomic series. If you are not familiar with the Anatomic series, these undies shape Screen shot 2014-05-30 at 4.19.50 PMand extenuate your glutes. So they will show off your assets! “The secret behind the new technology is a curved “V” shape seam that naturally adapts to the hip and buttocks to enhance your body’s natural shape” is what they tell us!

Don’t worry if you’re a fan of a pouch, these won’t disappoint. It’s made with a specially designed pouch that will fit you like a glove. It has an ergonomically fit designed to fit you in a way that doesn’t bind or rub.

They have eight different designs but currently have a limited edition 2 pack that feature the USA and Brazil in a soccer ball. It’s very creative packing and a lot of fun. The two pack retails for $32.00 and each individual pair is $20.00

This is one line I will have to try I have a love of ergonomically designed underwear. If I get some I’ll let you guys know how they are! Find these at the Rounderwear site or Amazon!

RAVE 0304Swim season is in full swing. Since Memorial Day last month every weekend is now prime swimwear days. Granted, that is if the weather cooperates! Quarter Homme has released a new swim brief called Rave. The Rave is simple designed but fun pair that they just released.

Not every pair of swimwear needs to shout look at me! It doesn’t need to be made out of wild patterns or bright colors. Those suits have their place but I think every guy needs some basic designed swimwear in their drawer. And by basic I don’t mean boring. Simplicity can be pretty awesome.

The new Rave is a swim briefs with a solid body color and a contrasting trim on the waistband and leg openings. The colors available are White/Blue, Red/White and Black/Orange. My personal favorite is the white/blue. There is something about white swimwear that makes people cringe. You can show off everything in swim if it’s the wrong material. Speaking of the material it is body hugging and fast drying. There is nothing I hate more than swim that takes too long to dry.

This pair is perfect for those looking for a great, classic styled swim brief. Not only is the styling great the price is even better. The retail is $27.90. Which for a pair of swim is amazing. You can spend anywhere from $25-over 100 bucks on a pair of men’s swimwear. You can find this and more at the Quarter Homme site

aussieBum_WhiskyAussieBum has been on fire releasing ranges after ranges. I don’t see how they are keeping up with the new ranges! The latest range is called Whisky. Why is it called whisky? Because the the super rich and aged hues they use in the underwear. aussiebum always puts it’s creative spin on underwear.

The new Keyhole underwear is one of the latest trends in men’s underwear. If you don’t know what that is its a cut out at the top center of the pouch. aussiebum called it a peep-hole, which is the best name I have heard for such a cut out! This one has a peep-hole in the back as well!
This range is just available in a brief, so if you’re looking for a trunk or jock you are out of lock. The colors are really cool names. The first is Beech with a green pouch and yellow back. Cedar which is grey or tan in the front and red in the back. Oak is tan in the front and navy in the back. Mahogany is light blue pouch with red back. All have a great contrasting piping.
These really do have deep colors. If you’re looking for super bright pairs this won’t be for you. I think these are def a little fashion forward with the colors and piping. The range has the traditional 1 inch aB waistband that is a classic. Its great to see aussieBum to try something new and different.
You can find these at the aussieBum site for $18.50

Kody3If you’re like me one of the biggest issues in underwear is sizing. You never know what a brands sizing is, you search the site but with no luck. You Google it and still no luck you get everything but the brand you are searching for.

Well we have a fix for you! Our Sizing Guide has been updated to show a majority of the major underwear companies and a lot of the smaller players. We have had a sizing guide since 2009 but never updated. So we took the time and went to every site and emailed brands to ask for charts we couldn’t find. It was a lot of work but worth it !
We have a space for notes from our staff and you guys. If you have a comment about a brand email us and we’ll put it on the guide. The more info we get the better decisions can be made. So check it out and let us know your sizing issues.
Also let us know if we should have a brand there. We tried to hit the majors for version 2.0 but know there are plenty more we can add.  Email us info (at) underwearnewsbriefs.com .

jock-fashion-functionJockstraps have been going through a renaissance as of late. Back in 2010 I proclaimed it the year of the jock. Before this most jocks were relegated to the locker room or fetish situations. There were basically two kinds of jocks. The traditional 3-inch waistband or the Swimmer with the 1 inch waistband. The perfect example of this is the Bike #10 Jock. It pretty much came in white. In the 90’s they branched out in to a few colors but the styles stayed the same.

We flash forward to 2010 and everyone started to make them in all sorts of fabrics and colors. In 2014 you can find a jock in any color of the rainbow and in just about any fabric. The design is changing as well. Many companies have taken the jock and made it their own. The perfect example of it is the C-IN2 Grip jock. Not only did they play with the design but they also made it in newer material that makes it perfect for working out or being active.

Each year more and more companies take the jock and put a new spin on it. I didn’t think in 2010 that the trend would last longer than a year or so. I was dead wrong on that. Second, the original jock had been around for decades with out real innovation. Would companies really design new jocks and experiment with fabrics? I really wasn’t sure, but they did and created a really great new category.

Some recent developments in the jock world are:

  • Baskit developed the first hybrid, the Jockbrief –As you know it’s taking a brief and giving it a jock back. This only fueled to the jock fenzy
  • N2N Bodywear created jock swimwear – You may say this sounds strange but the pair was very cool. I have two of them and while I never wore them as swim I have worn them as underwear. They were prob the best made jock I ever wore
  • Bike Discontinues #10 Jock – It was a sad day when I learned from Jockstrap Central the #10 jock was being discontinued. This is a classic that all guys should have in their underwear drawer.

There are too many more to mention. Just about every company has their jock. So no matter what your love you can find a jock in that color or fabric! So which kind of jock lover are you? Are you an old school guy? Or Do you love the new? Or a mix of both? Let us know!

over-30Let’s face it we’re not all 20 something’s forever. Eventually we all grow older and move beyond the college years. If you’re like me college was the first time you got to really explore your underwear. You could have been away from home or just had extra money you could spend. The latter was the case for me. I had a job and went to school. At the time it seemed like a lot of money but looking back the extra $50 a week isn’t anything.

I would run out and buy every color in my favorite underwear brands. To me I had to have them all and really started my collection back in these days. It really let me know that I loved briefs, hated boxers and colors were the most important! I went 5 years without owning any white underwear what so ever. I was so over the tighty whities and wanted to express myself.

Flash forward 20 years and this is where I am. Being a “responsible adult” you know have bills to pay, priorities and have to think about your purchases. Well, sometimes I don’t when it comes to Underwear! This brings me to the point of the post. Being a guy over 30 underwear is just as important as it was when I was in my 20’s.

Are there brands or styles a guy of a “certain age” shouldn’t wear? In the world of fashion you get labeled a douche if you’re over 30 and head out in Abercrombie or Hollister apparel. Its made for the younger kids, so they say. But underwear, we have a philosophy here that you should wear what makes you feel comfy and sexy. I don’t think you should be defined by an age. But they say fashion is for the youth!

One thing that sets the over 30 crowd apart is the ability to now spend $20 or more for a pair of underwear. If you’re single you have the expendable income. While a college guy has to think about what to spend the money on.

It has made me think being over 30 we have a local store here that has been known for underwear. When I was younger I’d go in and wouldn’t even enter my mind the guy in the shop would be saying “you shouldn’t be wearing those.” But I went in a few years ago and that’s the vibe I got. It didn’t offend me and I didn’t pay attention to his vibes. I looked at what I wanted and didn’t care what he had to say.

Ever since this happened it made me wonder who else has had this experience? You can go on many “dating” sites and see plenty of men over 30 who still look great. And can wear what ever they want. I have seen plenty of guys over 30 and 40 still wearing swim briefs. I’m working on getting back into swim brief shape! I have worn them this year but to accepting places where no one cares. I wouldn’t hit the beach and be the only on in them like I did when I was 22. At that time I didn’t care and loved the attention!

This is something we are going to explore. More and more guys are getting into fashion and as they age, they should be able to wear what they want. We are going bring you some interviews with industry guys and readers who are over this age to give a few different view points.

Garcon-Model_Brazil-Trunks_01Underwear should not only be comfy but I think should give back at times. That is exactly what Garçon Model is doing, they have teamed up with Grupo Ruas e Praças. I spent some time with Garçon Model guys in Vegas. They are really great guys who really have turned their passion into a business. They really impressed me before but now that they are giving back, they are amazing! If you are looking to spend your money on a pair of undies that could make a difference go by the Brazil trunks!

Here is the press release:

Canadian mens underwear brand Garçon Model partners with Brazilian NGO Ruas e Praças to raise money for the street kids of World Cup host city Recife ahead of the 2014 tournament.

With the world’s focus turning to the South American country Garçon Model is re-launching its sell-out Brazil national flag coloured trunks in time for the event.

All profits from the Brazil trunks will be donated to Grupo Ruas e Praças to help support hundreds of Recife’s homeless children living on the streets and exposed to drugs, gangs, prostitution and violence.

The Northeast coastal city is one of Brazil’s most football-mad and home to a new $240 million dollar football stadium 20km from the favelas of Coelhos and Ibura.

We want guys to show their support for Brazil and enjoy the World Cup but at the same time raise funds and awareness to help educate and inspire the youth, to keep them safe and engaged with society.” – Mehdi Mebarki, Co-founder of Garçon Model

During the month long event Garçon Model’s iconic GM logo will be transformed using the Brazil national flag whilst a documentary film and imagery shot in Recife by photographer Klaus Thymann will be showcased on the garconmodel.com homepage.

#TEMVIDANASRUAS – There is life in the streets

The film and imagery shot by Klaus Thymann over four days in Recife highlights the courage, talent and dreams of some of the children that the money raised will go to help by funding arts and cultural projects to build positive lives off the streets.

The campaign is part of The International Exchange program which brings together NGO’s from developing countries and communications professionals, and was funded by City of Good – an initiative set-up by Nicolas Jayr from ad agency BBH London.

I was on the Timoteo site looking up something else for the blog and what did I see on the site? The banner on the font showed the Marina Low Rise Swim Brief in the Star Print. Now, I don’t remember seeing this in Vegas, it’s quite possible that I did but don’t remember. The Olympian and knew it would be super popular! Right after we posted about it we heard a lot of you guys talking about it!

This pair I really love, the only down side is I wish I could wear Timoteo’s Swimwear. Maybe next summer, but in the mean time you guys should def get this pair! Its made in a low rise  swim brief style. The fabric, front and back is the stars pattern with a blue back ground. So it’s not a flag but almost!

I really like the fact that Timoteo is designing super fun swimwear. This year I feel they are taking a few more risks in swim and it’s definitely paying off. In the past they have used color blocks and bright colors but this year its like they have a story to tell in their swim. I hope they def keep it up!

If you’re after a something fun check this pair out at the Timoteo site or any of the other swimwear. The Marina Low Rise retails for $38.00 and is available in a plaid as well!

Junk2Marek+Richard is one of those companies you can tell really enjoys and has a lot of fun designing underwear. Their designs are very eye catching and not afraid to step outside of the box. This collection was inspired by something you wouldn’t think would make for great underwear. The inspiration is Junk Food. Yes that’s right the stuff we love to eat now is the inspiration for an underwear line. So the new line is called “Junk Collection

I have heard of a lot of inspirations for underwear but this one is prob one of the most creative. If you aren’t familiar with M+R they are out of Dallas, Texas. Founded by in May 2011 by Neil Marek and Robbie Richard (two boys who met while pursuing fashion degrees at The University of North Texas). In fact, all their stuff is made in the USA.

“YUM! Do fries come with that? Inspired by drive-thru junkies and pizza-faced punks, Junk is a calorie loaded collection that features bold mesh details in a variety of your favorite colors. From cropped tees and calf-sweats to briefs and trunks, Junk offers you a wide range of menu options. So have it your way and remember Marek+Richard doesn’t make it ‘til you order it.”

The there are two things I like about the collection. First, the activewear has an 80’s feel. It’s pretty cool to have the bright colors and almost neon color blocks. M+R has a way of making retro work very well. Second is the jock. Jocks are becoming one of the must have’s for any guy to have in their collection. The use of mesh and also waistband really make it work well!

If you’re interested in finding out more, go to the Marek+Richard site and check out the entire collection.

ca-rio-ca-spainOne of the hottest trends in swimwear right now is country flag inspired swim. We have seen it from many of the swim designers some go literal and other do abstract designs. CA-RIO-CA has created a whole series around the World Cup. So no matter who your team is, they have a pair of swim wear for that Country.

Since it is World Cup inspired they of course have Brazil, the host country. The line also inlcudesUK, USA, France, Portugal, Argentina and more! But they just released Spain. If you notice these aren’t traditional swim briefs but more Brazilian inspired suits. Similar to the ones you see not the beach in Rio. The Classic cut suit (pictured) has a 12 CM side, which for us Americans makes it in between a brief and a square cut trunk.

CA-RIO-CA has been around for a while and makes really fun swimwear. The World Cup collection is just creative and fun! I love how they focus on more than the big countries of the world. It is not often I see swimwear for Argentina. If you’re a World Cup fan then this line will be calling your name. Just note the pairs aren’t cheap, this pair retails for $84.95. But if you’re a fan it maybe a small price to pay!
