Men’s Underwear for the masses has been changing for the better in the last few years. Back in the day men were pretty much limited to black, white and grey. Which today are still staple colors of many guys, but more guys want some color and something different in their underwear drawers. However, times are changing and color and smaller styles are working their way back into men’s underwear. This is especially true with the new line Cover Male.
When new lines come out they tend to go conservative on color selection. Which means they usually produce 3-4 colors maximum beyond the white, black, and grey. Then as it grows they add more colors and take risks with styles. Cover Male has started with some very bold and bright colors and revealing styles. Some of the colors include pink, yellow, orange, red and blue. These are also very bright hues of these colors and if you wear them you will get noticed.
Cover Male has decided to bring back color in a big way. How you may ask? Well, they have up to 11 colors in certain styles. So, if you express yourself with your undies, this is a line you need to definitely give a look!
The line is broken into three areas. They are Casual Wear, Sports Wear and the Erotic collection. Each of these categories has numerous styles. As their website says “Bringing its inspiration from the men who want to indulge their passion for underwear, Cover Male excels in showcasing a mixture of class, elegance and masculinity in each of it’s collection.”
The Casual Wear could be your every day underwear. The styles in this line are: Bikini, Waisted-Up Trunk, Trunk, Cheek Boxer, and Waisted-Up Brief. This line also has 9 color choices per style.
The Sports wear is for the more active guy. The styles in this line are the Running Short and Peek Jockstrap. Each one of these has up to 9 different colors.
Lastly is the Erotic Collection. This is for the guy that either wants to feel sexy all day or has a special evening. This includes colors, smaller styles and mesh fabrics. Modus Vivendi is an exciting company from Greece with a wonderful website and fantastic products! While there is a large selection of all types of underwear, most of the pairs are fashioned after the Greek gods with several styles representing each god. I found each god to have an exciting selection of underwear, but the Zeus jockstrap caught my eye from the beginning. Without hesitation, it was the one I had to try!
The Zeus Natural jockstrap comes in a natural coloring with extraordinary touches. The waistband is approximately 3.5 inches in width and is very comfortable and slightly stretchy. Along the front of the waistband and above the pouch is a piece of brown leatherlike material. This adds to the design and brings just the right touch to make the jockstrap more earthy in conjunction with the natural coloring. On the back of the waistband is a piece of fabric that has a hand drawing of Zeus on it. The leg bands are the same nautral coloring as the waistband and the pouch and are pieces of rope that have knots tied in them where they join the waistband. This was an exciting touch to an already great pair of underwear. The same leatherlike piece of material is on the bottom of the pouch and fits comfortalby behind your package with the rope leg straps threaded through it. The comfortable and ample pouch is a ribbed pouch that is pieced together with an exposed seam. It seems everything that went into designing and making this pair of underwear was thought out thoroughly.
The fabric is 94% Cotton, and 6% Elastane. This selection of materials created a slightly stretchy fabric, but one that holds its shape and molds to the body. The leg openings were perfectly sized with adjustable rope legsstraps. Overall, I was pleased with the fit, but with all European undies, you may want to order one size up or refer to their sizing chart to find your perfect fit.
I wore this on standard days of general daily activity and shopping. This jockstrap was very comfortable and felt perfect against my body with no tightness issues. The fabric was soft with a nicely sized waistband width for a jockstrap. My khaki pants and my jeans had no issue with clinging to the undies or pulling at them during the day due to the fabric. Modus Vivendi has these on their website for the cost of $44.67. Now, this is rather pricey for most of us, but it is worth the cost! I love this jockstrap and all of the Modus Vivendi products. This jockstrap may be thought of as the prize piece in your collection, or a special occasion pair of underwear. I can imagine someone wearing this to an underwear contest, underwear party, or club and totally having all the attention.

I have been writing this blog for over three years and one thing has been constant. That is good underwear is expensive. The average right now is about $20 a pair. However, I have seen some pairs priced $40 and up. Therefore, we are always looking for deals on great underwear. This is the reason we do Sales Briefs and try to run them a few times a week. There are sites that have even better deals then the typical 20-30% off deals we run in Sales Briefs. Those sites are Cheap Undies, Beyond the Rack and HauteLook.
Cheap Undies
Cheap Undies has been around for about a month. It is specially for underwear only deals. The very first deal they had was a Diesel swimsuit for $5, which I believe was over 80% off the regular price. Other deals I have seen are pairs for as little as $1. They have close outs of some of the brand name underwear we cover here on the blog.
How Cheap Undies works is each day there is a new deal on a pair of underwear. There is a time clock that counts down the deal. If you sign up for the Cheap Undies email list they email out the current deal. Deals may sell out so it’s best to shop early. They appear to have all sizes from Small to XL for each deal. Some deals maybe limited by size but all the ones I have seen so far have had all sizes.
What happens if you miss a deal? The Last Chance deal are deals that aren’t gone yet. If you missed the daily deal, and it’s not sold out, it may still be available. This section however is limited by size. But you can still get some great deals on the underwear.

Beyond the Rack
Beyond the Rack is a site that we initially found when a fan posted the link on our Facebook Page. At first I was a little skeptical about deal sites that make you join as a member before you get to see the deals. After a few posts I decided to give the site a look. Unlike Cheap Undies, Beyond the Rack is dedicated to all types of deals, where underwear is just one section.
If you have signed up for the email list you will get advance notice of deals that are available. Once the deals are up it typically lasts for 48 hours or until the items sell out. Due to the deals there maybe narrow ranges in sizes. Meaning it could be only certain sizes and not the full range of sizes.
The brands that I have seen on Beyond the Rack have been Papi, Junk UnderJeans, Frank Dandy (which is the current deal for Feb. 12, 2012 and the picture above). The Frank Dandy sale is 54% off the retail price.

HauteLook
HauteLook is very similar to Beyond the Rack. It is a site that has a lot more then just underwear. You can get everything from clothing to housewares. Each day deals are posted and end at 8 AM PST (11 AM EST). At the top of each page the deadline for the deal is clearly listed.
HauteLook is a very similar set up to Beyond the Rack. If you have your preferences set you will receive an email for all new deals. After 48 hours the deals are removed or if they sell out. They didn’t mention anything about limited sizes, but I would assume that certain deals will have limited sizes.
I have just become familiar with HauteLook so I am not versed on which brands they have had in the past. The current deal for men’s underwear is Play Underwear. Play Underwear was originally made with a pocket for your iPod. They have since moved on to create fashionable underwear for the “younger customer”
