Men’s Underwear

Mundo Unico is like an old friend. It’s one of the first really great brands I ever tried. I remember when they came on the US market. A friend asked me if I tried them and about a few weeks later I did and my love of super awesome pouches was born. They were one of the very first undies that I became brand loyal. Over the last few years, they have not been at the forefront of the US underwear market. I”m not sure what they did but it was like their presence disappeared.

Well, they are back and showing the amazing prints and stripes they are known for! The new collection has more pairs but I wanted to focus on the prints/stripes! Since it has been a while since I covered them!

1740051365 Briefs Rudolph

Prints by Mundo Unico are creative! The print for Rudolph brief has an Aztec type of print. It reminds me almost of a needle point type print. The colors of the pair are topped off with a black waistband makes this a super fun pair.

COLORS: As seen
FABRIC: 78% Polyamide 22% Spandex
SIZES: Small – X-Large
COST: $22.48

1740052493 Briefs Lucid

Are you a fan of pin striped suits? They have similar prints in underwear. Mundo Unico has always had these types of pairs. They are classic but still the same comfy design. You can wear it under a suit to match or under jeans! This pair has a duo color waistband in blue and silver

COLORS: Blue
FABRIC: 93% Polyamide 7% Spandex
SIZES: Small – X-Large
COST: $20.48

1740082030 Boxer Briefs Share

If the pair above isn’t “classic” enough, this pair will be! It’s a white with grey stripes. The trunk form still has the amazing Unico pouch. If you don’t wear them because of lack of support, you won’t find that with Unico. They are one of the few boxer briefs I don’t mind wearing!

COLORS: As seen
FABRIC: 70% Polyamide 23% Polyestar 7% Spandex
SIZES: Small – X-Large
COST: $23.48

1740094192 Boxer Briefs Lighter

This is my favorite print of the Collection. ti’s a lot of circles on a black backgroun. I’m not sure why I love this one so much but it’s just fun to me. It’s definitely an attention getter! I will say I wish this was in a brief rather than a boxer brief/trunk! The prints are so diverse and interesting with Unico!

COLORS: As Seen
FABRIC: 78% Polyamide 22% Spandex
SIZES: Small – X-Large
COST: $27.48

1740093866 Boxer Briefs Celebration

This last print is probably the most fun! This pair is called Celebration! When I was scrolling through the new pairs, this one stuck out and reminded me of Mardis Gras in New Orleans. They always use bright greens, purples, reds and jewel tones! I guess that’s why they named it celebration!

COLORS: As Seen
FABRIC: 78% Polyamide 22% Spandex
SIZES: Small – X-Large
COST: $27.48
There are several of these in more than one style. If you liked the blue pin stripe, you will find it in other styles. This is not all the prints and stripes as well. Check out the entire collection

Andrew Christian releases new underwear on a pretty regular, frequent basis. The beauty of this business model is customers always have a reason to check out the site and see what is the latest and greatest. It also pushes the designers to always be innovating and have something provocative and new all the time. The newest FUKR line delivers Provocative with a capital P!

The FUKR line from Andrew Christian has always pushed the envelope in terms of sexiness. Past items have included materials such as mesh and net in every underwear style imaginable including a brief, jock, and thong. The latest FUKR styles continue that trend and then blast you in the face with a slick, glossy polyurethane fabric in bright cherry red. This definitely gives the pieces a very erotic, fetish-gear type of look in a brief, boxer and jock brief.

The FUKR Provocative Brief uses a fairly traditional brief look but uses the red polyurethane fabric with black contrast and leg binding. The FUKR logo is repeated on the waistband as an almost abstract pattern. It’s a nice design touch if you’re not looking at it close enough to realize what it says.

The Slit Boxer takes the traditional trunk shape and turns the erotic factor up to 11 with a devilish slit cut in the back. From the front, it looks like a normal trunk in the sexy red poly fabric again. But head around back and you get an access design that totally fits the FUKR mentality and fetish feel of the material.

If glossy bright red poly underwear somehow still leaves you wanting more sex appeal, grab the FUKR C-ring Brief Jock. Close your eyes and picture the regular AC brief jock. Then cut out the front and replace it with a detachable c-ring. And dip it in bright red glossy polyurethane. This thing is on fire!

All 3 of these items give you multiple options to get your sexy on. No matter how much “accessibility” you choose, any of these styles will have you and your partner dying to get your hands all over that juicy red goodness.

Everything Andrew Christian releases is a limited edition and once it’s gone, it’s gone. This is why the FUKR line originally included a c-ring singlet as well, but that thing flew off the shelves and is only in the hands of lucky owners now. So get your hands on these while you can!

We just had an article from Ryan talking about some of the thought and logic that goes into how he picks which underwear to wear each day. Here are some of the ways I do it.

For the most part, I pick out my clothes each morning, and my underwear almost always is coordinated with something I’m wearing. I have a lot of “Blue Mondays” where shirt, socks, and underwear always contain blue. I usually try to participate in Thong Thursday as well. I’ll even swap shoelaces to red, blue, green, etc. on some days and tie that into my color choices. Every once in awhile someone at work will comment how my laces match my shirt. I always get a laugh, thinking “if only you could see what else matches 😉 “

Those are some of the little things that give me something to look forward to when I’m picking out what to wear.

The type of clothes I’m also wearing usually factors into my underwear choice. If I’m wearing jeans or pants that are pretty slim and tight, I’ll pick the smallest, skimpiest underwear I have. In the dead of winter, I might grab some boxer briefs first just to have the added warmth and compression on my legs. And sometimes I’ll purposely pick something totally opposite of what else I’m wearing just because it’s my own little secret. For example, I might be super casual in jeans, boots and a flannel but I’ll have a lace bikini on too. I love thinking how shocked people would be to see the whole picture!

The other side to choosing underwear is dealing with rotation in a huge collection. Most people here have collections in the dozens, if not hundreds of pairs. How to get through that amount of choices requires logistics and planning as well. My underwear drawer(s) are definitely stacked with some sort of preference to favorites going towards the top. However, every few days I’ll still flip through the stacks to see what I haven’t worn lately. As much as I’d love to exclusively wear my absolute favorites, I know that wearing and washing underwear is a good way to put a lot of wear and tear on them. I like to make sure everything gets into the rotation, otherwise, it’s not even worth keeping. Plus, pulling out something that hasn’t seen the light of day in a few weeks is a good way to get reacquainted with a pair that you might have forgotten about.

That’s what goes on in my head every time I go to pull out a pair of underwear. How about you?

JOR was one of our participants in the UNB Holiday Guide! They have been a partner for a few year. This year they continue the tradition of making amazing undies with bold colors and prints.

Music is Christmas Party, purchased from Pond5 (https://www.pond5.com/stock-music/700…)

When I started UNB almost 10 years ago, the site’s readers were almost 100% gay. This was not a shock to me, being a gay guy who has always loved underwear. I wanted to share my passion with others and introduce others into the world of amazing men’s underwear. As we grew, our readership grew and so did our straight readers. I would interact with them and have become friends with quite a few straight guys. They would tell me friends and ex’s would tell them they were gay for wearing something such as a bikini, lace, thong or anything else skimpy and bright.

This made me go WTF? Underwear makes you gay? If only, I could finally date someone into undies (I jest!). Straight guys are supposed to wear boxers and boxer briefs. These pairs should have no fashion or form. Look at the pairs in the big box stores. Granted, they have improved over the last 10 years but they still don’t offer the support and fashion of men’s “fashion underwear.”

Where did the “gay” label come from?

After talking to Salvatore the other day via text about this. It got me thinking. He mentioned he read an article where gay guys in the North East wore swim briefs and labeled the entire line “gay”.  Yeah, this could have happened but it goes deeper than just a regional thing. This is all over the US and has been for a while.

One of the biggest is peer pressure. Even when we get out of school a lot of people want to fit in and not rock the boat. If all their friends are wearing boxer, you should be wearing them too. If you deviate from the norm you are labeled as strange or in this case gay. I can’t tell you the number of guys who have told me they wore boxers over their bikinis or thongs so their friends wouldn’t find out they loved something skimpy. If they didn’t do that, they would wear something basic when out with friends.

The next reason is the view of sex and of men in the US. Each year a big event during the holiday season is the Victoria Secret Runway show. It was broadcast on National TV during prime time. I think it ended last year. There were no thoughts of a woman in skimpy lingerie walking down a runway. Now, put a man in a bikini down the same runway and it’s “WAIT A MINUTE.”  Men in the US can’t be objectified as sexual beings. On broadcast TV you never see a guy in anything but boxers or boxer briefs. This is definitely a double standard in the world. We have seen this personally in ads we have wanted to run and a reluctance of some for working with us (some underwear brands and other brands.)

Was it always this way?

In the 70’s and 80’s underwear was moving towards bikinis and colors. It was not uncommon for guys to sport a bikini or something fun. I was in my early teens at the start of the 80’s and the underwear choices in department stores blew my mind. Jockey has some of the best bikinis, yes Jockey. If you know the Jockey of today it seems almost foreign. This is also where the nylon underwear came into popularity. Google underwear ads of the 70’s and 80’s

If you’re younger, one thing that will blow your mind is we had MLB and NFL players doing print ads for underwear. I”m not talking the Tim Tebow Jockey ads where you never saw him in the undies. Jim Palmer was in the pages of People magazine. He was wearing Jockey Elance or similar bikini. I remember seeing this and it blew my mind and I had to have those bikinis. Today could you picture your favorite baseball or football player wearing bikinis for all to see?

We also didn’t have the amazing fabrics of today. They were made of nylon, nylon blend, cotton and very few stretchy materials. I remember one of my favorite Jockey bikinis got a run in the pouch. A run like you would get in women’s stockings. Being a broke high school kid, I didn’t have the money to replace them. Then shortly thereafter the line was retired.

Then it all came to an end by the end of the 80’s. We saw the introduction of the boxer brief. Then the dull period of underwear. Where you could get colors but only black, grey, or white. It was this way for a while. Luckily the internet came along and brands were able to find markets for their smaller cuts and bold colors.

Is Underwear Currently Gay?

When you think about what the public considers gay underwear. They include thongs, lace, bikinis, and bodysuits. The general public my turn its nose up at those but we have straight writers who love them. UndiesDude, TheBottomDrawer, TheThongedGinger and UNB Ryan all love thongs. They are some of the biggest thong lovers I have ever seen. As for lace, UNB Mike has really taken to lace and finds it super sexy. UNB Ryan wants to try a bodysuit.

Speaking of straight guys loving underwear. Right now the majority of UNB writers are straight. I didn’t think this would happen for quite a while. When I think about it I think I am the only gay guy, active on the site right now. After working with these guys they have a massive love of underwear. At times I think their love for undies stronger than a lot of gay guys. It makes me smile to see them really get involved in the underwear world. I consider these as friends as well. It’s awesome that underwear brought us together.

What happens next?

We are slowly moving towards a world where guys can wear what they want. It’s slow! From 2008 till now I have seen movement in what companies are producing. Going are the boxer briefs and briefs and bikinis are growing in new lines. The double standard is still there where you can’t objectify a man.

Unlike in the 70’s-80’s, we now have the internet and blogs where guys can find what they want and meet other guys into the same undies. Guys can be anonymous on the net. There are many straight guys on Twitter and Instagram showing their love of undies. One of them is JayinCA who has become a part-time guest writer here. Remember, if a straight guy is posting pics of him in underwear, don’t assume he’s gay. This goes to the gay guys, people like to show off and share their love of underwear. Don’t call them gay, ask to see X pics or send them dirty messages. Send them messages of encouragement for putting themselves out there. Social Media can be harsh and we need to support our underwear brothers. Our brothers who are gay, bi and straight!

Curious as to how you think we can change this going forward. I don’t have one right answer for moving forward. It’s a very complex issues. Some would say its a trival one but it reflects the society in general. Let’s have a real and honest discussion about this guys.

We hope you enjoy this guide! We have JOR, Cocksox, BodyAware, and Bum-Chums participating in this years shoot. I personally don’t live very close to a known men’s underwear store. I also have not had the privilege of shopping at one either. I have bought from local department stores when they use to have some selection of underwear styles I like. Unfortunately, It has been a long time now that I have been able to do that. It would be nice to just go to the store and get a pair or two. Okay, let’s be a little more realistic with maybe a half dozen or so. Guess it would depend on the convenience of the store for the amount I’d purchase.

Yes, the anonymity of shopping online is nice when buying underwear that isn’t the norm for guys. No worries about someone you know seeing you buying some sexy undies from the comfort of your home. But wouldn’t it be nice to be able to see the pair in person before you buy them. You can get a better idea of how the pair looks inside and out, the feel of the fabric, get an idea of sizing, etc. With it being a men’s underwear store, the other shoppers are going to be like-minded. No worries about feeling like someone is judging you. Then you’ll have sales people with knowledge on the topic and can help you out right on the spot.

The biggest advantage I see for myself is being able to have the pair in hand the same day. I hope to one day have an opportunity to check out a men’s underwear store. I’m sure I’d be like a kid in a candy store like others have described their experience. Take our survey and let us know if you’d like to shop at a men’s underwear store or if you already have. Check out our list of stores to shop at here. Let us know if you know of any we are missing.

Happy Thong Thursday! I know we have quite a few thong fans on the blog. Let’s say you are looking for a classic thong to wear under your tux for a formal holiday party. Maybe you want a super comfy thong under jeans for a night out with the guys. Or lastly, maybe you want something comfortable to wear to work all day. If you answered YES to any of those scenarios mentioned the new Gregg Homme Mythic thong is one to check out.

It’s made of an amazing fabric, which by this point to anyone who has read UNB for a while shouldn’t be a shocker. Gregg Homme makes underwear in the most amazing fabrics. This is an Italian honeycombed patterned jersey. Which will be super comfy all throughout the day. The design is pretty classic from the cut to the color. Did I mention the pair is only available in black? It’s an awesome thong or any guy who loves them or would like to try it.

To me, there is something super sexy about being in a tux and wearing a black thong under it. I have always loved this look and have even done it a few times. It’s unexpected but not over the top! If you haven’t tried this I recommend it. This is also the pair to wear out among friends as well. Go out for dinner and hang out a bit. No one will be any wiser you have on a thong!  Lastly, Gregg Homme makes super sexy undies, but they make the kind that is designed to be worn all day. You won’t go a few hours and wish you wore another pair.

Gregg Homme knows how to design sexy and very functional underwear for men. I love that they created this pair in a very classic color! If you love this pair find it at the Gregg Homme Site.

PAIR: Gregg Homme Mystic Thong
COLORS: Black
FABRIC: Italian honeycombed patterned jersey
SIZES: X-Small – X-Large
COST: $29.00

What do you wear under your clothes every day? More so, how do you pick it out every day as you get ready? Do you lay out your clothes and underwear the night before? Or do you pick them out at the spur of the moment as you get dressed? Do you match your underwear to anything else in your outfit or do you pick them out based on your mood at the time?

I tend to pick out my underwear based on my mood every morning, and also like them to match my clothes as much as possible. For instance, if you see me wearing a pink shirt or sweater, there is a 100% chance that I am wearing a pink thong underneath! I also like my socks to coordinate as well, so there’s a pretty good chance that they will match what I am wearing.

Another consideration that I give is what I will be doing throughout the day. If I am going to be doing something active, I may decide to wear a more supportive pair of underwear. Conversely, if I know I am just going to be in the office all day I will usually opt for a slinkier style thong or g-string to wear under my dress slacks.

I’m curious to see if any of you follow the same routine as I do. If you have your own system for wearing your underwear, I would love to know! For those of you with sizeable collections, how do you rotate through them? Do you wear them all or just several of your current favorites? Do you and a partner wear matching pairs?

IMG_0200Drop me a line in the comments and tell me what you do to pick out your underwear every day. Maybe you can help me find a way to cycle through my entire collection again!

Satin underwear for men is gaining popularity. BodyAware is one of the companies at the forefront of satin undies. They have released a few new pairs for you to consider. One of the pairs is the Glistening Satin Pouch Brief. One big gripe I have heard from guys on Satin undies is that it doesn’t stretch or doesn’t have a pouch. This pair has a built-in pouch that should hold you very well!

They even point this out in their official description!

Glistening satin in a bold design. BodyAware’s unique pouch styling is structured for an uplifting fit. Pouch design is shaped to anatomical perfection for a perfect silhouette, while avoiding the dreaded squeezing and scrunching that you find with other brands. Sumptuous BodyAware elastic that feels soft and lays perfectly against your waist with no binding. Shaped full back.

If you want something outside of your normal box, this is the pair I would suggest. Especially if you wanted to try satin undies. This is the perfect starter pair.

COLORS: black, lavender, pink and mint
FABRIC: 93% nylon/ 7% spandex
SIZES: Small – XX-Large
COST: $19.00

First of all its only a thong

If you are a fan of skimpy swimwear, then you’ll want to pay attention to my posts over the winter and spring as we start to gear up for swimwear season. I am going to be showcasing a new swimwear line that I have worn, and I hope to bring you a few posts each month sharing my experience with some brands you may not be as familiar with. As most of you know, I am primarily a thong wearer so that we will start with those. I will also add that I do not care for suits with wide, branded waistbands, so I will not be focusing on those. I will be structuring my posts into a series that focuses on the skimpier styles with string style sides, or at minimum smaller waistbands.

I am particularly fond of suits with g-string style backs, as I really like the tan lines they leave behind. My take is if you’re going to show off a little bit of ass at the pool or on the beach, then what’s really the difference between a g-string or thong? I have always had the same thought s about wearing a speedo style suit because what’s really the difference-I am one of the few converts that went straight from a pair of shorts to a thong! All or nothing right?

I am not as fond of suits with a flat front that do not accentuate your package. Instead, I really like suits that emphasize your package. “Push-Out” or “missile” style suits are my favorite because they give me more confidence in the illusion of a larger package. If you are smaller than average one of these styles may give you the confidence to wear a thong out on the beach or to your apartment pool. Conversely, if you aren’t shy and you just want to show off what you already have, a push-out style may be a lot of fun for you to wear on your next vacation. Give it a try and let me know what you think!

I do keep it legal and do not wear mesh or net style suits, as they are not legal on the beaches that I visit. I also enjoy having the tan lines that the side and back straps leave behind, and even being reminded well into the fall and winter of all of the time I can spend out in the sun during the swimwear season!

Please let me know if there are any styles that you would like to see my review in the future or if you are particularly fond of a specific brand or line! I look forward to trying out some new styles and old, and getting to experiment with new colors and fabrics as we get ready to move into the 2018 swim season!
