New pairs are always coming out, and i’ve got some spicy ones for you! Clever has released it’s new spring and summer line up, and as usual, there are a few thongs mixed in with the rest. Clever’s thongs are always a little different than most brand’s thongs. What makes them different is that the thong’s waistband isn’t entirely the standard “name around the whole thing” we always see. Instead, the center section of the back of the thong is actually covered up by the material that makes up the rest of the pair, a neat look in my mind. Clever’s thongs always look shiny, sleek, and stylish, but you all didn’t come to hear me wax on. You want to see the new thongs! So let’s get started!

First up is the Snowy thong. This pair comes in some nice colors, either a dark blue with a Silver waistband, or deep green with a dark red waistband, on each the brand name front and center. I’m a big fan of how the red and green looks together.

Next there is the Stingray, which adds in some contrasting line stitching to show off your stuff. The line comes in Grape and blue.

Clever also usually makes a variety of different types of pairs for each line. So if you like say, the snowy look, but aren’t a thong fan, they have the look in briefs and boxer briefs as well.

Clever is also getting into the jock thong business somewhat. Their Crystal Jockstrap is more like a thong, as the split waistbands lower straps come across the rear instead of under it like a traditional jockstrap, which places it squarely in the thong camp in my book. The pair does feature a small thong back, and comes in Grey(Black with purple pouch), and green (White with green pouch). The center rear strap is also the same color as the pouch, and is a nice pop of color.

I find Clever thongs to be both familiar and different, an intriguing combination. I am excited that they keep making thongs. Which one of Clever’s offerings do you think looks the best? Let us know in the comments below!

Hashtag Hooker is a brand I found on all places, Facebook. It’s rare that I find new brands on there. Mostly it’s on Twitter and Instagram. However this brand came across my radar and I thought I would share. They have a super interesting name and we’ll go into that in a post soon!

I thought I would share the Johnny Jock with Chystals. They say “From our #HOOKER Gold  line. Solid with accents of crystals strategically framing your “jewels” and “assets.” Crystals are hand-embellished on the waistband, around the front, back, and leg opening. Made with imported COOLMAX® nylon/lycra tricot knit jersey and features our signature two-tone #HOOKER  logo elastic waistband”\

This pair is in white, black, and Pink (as shown). It also retails for $55 at the Hashtag Hooker site.

Many of you have probably seen that YouTube video called “100 Years of Men’s Underwear” where a sculpted gentleman changes in and out of pairs of underwear, tracing the history of my favorite article of clothing throughout the past century. Therein lies the reason for this article: the history of underwear.

The underwear we all know and love today has its roots in the 1930s when guys everywhere chucked out their union suits in favor of boxers and briefs. This was a change on par with the invention of sliced bread, spurred on by the invention of elastic. Jockey, although it has been outpaced by more fashionable rivals nowadays, began making briefs in 1930, complete with the famous Y-vent in the front. Briefs were in vogue, although they might as well have been tighty-whities compared with what we are fortunate to have today. Regardless, to me, they evoke a classic, masculine, and simple style that was surely nothing short of revolutionary in those days.

Fast forwarding past World War II, the industry became more and more innovative, with different colors and patterns being produced. This was when underwear began to be a fashion statement, think those leopard print bikinis from the late 1960s. Even still, most guys still wore white cotton underwear.

Finally, by 1970, spandex and lycra became part of underwear blends, which opened up a whole new world in terms of fits and styles. This opened the door for designer products that we know today, such as Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger. Whether it was Tom Cruise in Risky Business or Mark Wahlberg’s immortal Calvin Klein ad, men’s underwear started to become a pop culture phenomenon.

After a dark period in the 1990s when many guys reverted back to Joe Boxer-esque boxers, underwear reached the point where we are today. Underwear has gotten skimpier, perhaps fueled by the gay market, but this has been embraced by an increasing number. With online shopping, we now have access to any size, color, style, or brand with just the click of a button. It’s also striking how now there are varieties of underwear for almost every occasion, from sports to romance, to enhancing underwear.

Where will underwear go next?

HUNK2 Chaos Thong ReviewHunk2 has provided us with their Chaos thong to review.

Rating: 8.6/10

Daily Fit: 8/10
Sizing: 10/10
Construction: 10/10
Styling: 7/10
Daily Performance: 8/10

Pros: Comfortable fabric, like how the back looks on
Cons: Only three colors, would prefer different side design
Recommendation: I say give the Hunk2 Chaos thong a try. For me they are a great fit and a good choice for everyday low activity wear.

Hunk2 is a new brand in 2016 and I have the privilege to review their thong. If you looked at their other offerings, it is a bit of a surprised to see a thong in their collection. At the moment they carry boxer briefs/trunks and jock briefs. They also carry some swim briefs and square cuts. You can read more about Hunk2 in their UNB interview. Before I get into the review of the thong I wanted to say checkout how Hunk2 has marketed their thong on their site. I like how they’ve done it. Hopefully it will be a good seller for them.

I’m always up for testing out new thongs and even better when it is a new brand. I didn’t know what was coming for me to review, so when I pulled the thong out of the package I noticed two things. First was the lightweight and softness of the fabric. The second thing was when I held it up was the two side straps. Personally I would prefer just one of them or fabric between them. Now with that said you are able to adjust how the side straps are on the hips. You can choose to have them run parallel to each other as in the photos or you can go my direction. I like to wear them with the sides next to each other, which leaves some little sliver of triangles near the pouch and the back with skin showing.

HUNK2 Chaos BackI wore these during a normal day for me working at the computer and running some errands. Overall they performed well for everyday wear. I consider these a v-string, since the tail (strap that runs between the cheeks) is the same width as one of the side straps. Plus you have somewhat of a piece of triangle fabric at the back. Sometimes with this type of design the tail can be bothersome. This especially true if you’re not use to this type of underwear. I did not have this problem with this thong. At times they were actually unnoticeable. Others times they did remind me there was a thong underneath my clothes. It was a comfortable knowing. I like this type of back design and I like how these look on me. The front has a flat centered seamed full width contoured pouch. I wouldn’t mind a little narrow of a pouch, but traditional is good too. It offers everyday wear support, but you’d start bouncing around in them with light jogging. Comfort is one of Hunk2 goals and I think they hit that with this pair for me.

Here’s some specification type information on this pair. I got it in a size medium and seems true to size. The fabric is a blend of 82% nylon, 6% polyester, and 12% elastane. The side straps and tail are about ½”. These can be wash cold on gentle and should be hung to dry. They’re made in Colombia, but designed in the USA. The Chaos thong is available in three colors: Noir2 (black), Bleu2 (blue), and Roux2 (red). All three colors have gray/silver pin dots on them giving a classic look to the thongs like one would think of with a pinstripe suit. They feature a small metal brand plate on the left pouch panel with Hunk2 on it. Then the size tag is sewn to the inside and outside back. The tag shows the brand name on the outside back of the thong with the tag line “Striking Confidence” below the Hunk2 name.

Overall this is a solid thong by Hunk2 that fits me well. It’s a comfortable pair I could wear everyday as long as it’s not going to be a real active day. The back cut is my favorite part about it. Gives a nice look for the rear. Fabric is great too. Would rather have different sides, but moving the straps side by side gives a look that I can run with it. More supportive and a bit narrower of a pouch are some personal improvements I’d like. I say give the Chaos thong a try. It is nice to have a little style variety to choose from in the underwear drawer.

If you would have told me there would be a certain sector of guys who would go crazy over swim thongs. I would have thought you were crazy a few years ago. But over the last year, we have seen growth in the swim thong market. Not only from gay guys but straight guys. YES, straight guys are going suns out buns out for summer. We are reaching a point where underwear/swimwear is no longer gay. It’s for all guys.

Today we chose the JOR Sunny Swim thong. It’s going to be in our Swimwear Guide (we shot it yesterday) and available in solids and prints. One color it is available in is Fuchsia. I mean if you’re going to rock the thong why now announce it to everyone around! Say, you’re less included to shout it out they also have it in black and white. But really, wearing a thong on the beach will bring attention in the US.

JOR has been one of the companies that have embraced the swim thong. They have been making them in every collection for the last year or more. Each collection they seem to release more and more swim thongs. That means you guys are buying them and wearing them. I think we still have a ways to go to get more on the beach but hey, it’s a start.

If you want to try a swim thong. We think this pair will be an awesome first pair. It’s not too small or too big but just right. If you already wear a bikini why not take the next step and thong it on the beach or private pool! We say go for it and rock it proud

aussieBum Billy SpotsassieBum has released a limited edition print to their Billy line. This unique spot print has varying size spots of different colors. Some spots are contained in others with each being a different color. The spots are connected by a black line in a vertical fashion. Your color options are Spots Blue, Spots Green, or Spots Orange. The spots blue incorporates shades of blue and pinkish red into the spots. Spots green includes yellow with the different shade of green spots. With the spots Green you get the shades or orange along with deep red (burgundy maybe). All spots are on a white background.

Like the other Billy line the spot print is available in a brief or a hipster. aussieBum advertises them as having “no waistband for a truly lightweight feel.” They’re made of a blend of 90% cotton and 10% elastane memory yarn. The Billy is a great choice for those that do not like the thick elastic waistbands. Or just a great alternative for a change from those styles of underwear.

The Billy is also available in several other colors and print. It is offered in a star print. Get them with white stars on a blue background, white stars on red, or black stars on white. Go with skulls on an aqua background. Even choice a black or red paisley print they call Eternity. Skulls and Eternity prints look to be on their way out as an option and are only available in the hipster in one size. Then there is always the solid color route. You have the option of black, blue, green (lime), orange, pink, or red.

Don’t miss out on the Billy’s spot print. Get it before they run out. It’s not a print that you see everyday as an option for your underwear. Get some great looking underwear from aussieBum with the Billy line.
