Are you a jockstrap fan? If you are Wednesday’s are all about you! Its the day social media and we here at UNB celebrate the jockstrap. One of the newest is the Timoteo Speedway jock. This jock is based on the best-selling Trainer Jock. Now it comes in the different colors and stripes of the Speedway collection.

The first thing you notice is the waistband. This band is new and with a 2 inch design. The colors in the band match the colors in the pair. It’s a really great touch. It shows the thought going into the design that there would be five different waistband colors.

The pouch has five stripes down the center. A dark solid center stripe. Followed by the shade lighter color on each side followed by another shade lighter outside of all three stripes. The trim matches the lightest color on the pouch. It’s a fun sporty design.

Made in 4 vibrant new color combinations. The colors are Blue, Green, Red and Orange. The red is the only one with a black pouch. The rest have white pouches. Made out of a high quality 72% Cotton 23% Polyester 5% Spandex blend. Making it perfect for any activity you have in mind! Meaning you can wear them to the gym, work or lounging around home.

The Speedway line also comes in a brief and slingshot jock. Each of them have the same colors and design. If you like one you may want to check out the entire line. To get this pair go to the Timoteo site. We will have more from Timoteo and Cellblock 13 very soon! They have some great pairs coming in the next few weeks!

401-202ls-royal-aFashion jocks are common place in today’s underwear market. Since 2009 the types and styles of jocks have exploded. One of the companies that have been producing fun jocks is Jack Adams. One of their latest pairs is the Lux Drift Jock. Which is part of the larger Lux Drift collection, which is made to combat “constantly tug, pull and grab at ill-fitting underwear, you can’t be comfortable and confident. ”

The first thing you notice about the pair is the pouches are made out of a striped fabric. There have been patterns and prints but I don’t recall too many stripes in the world of jocks. Most of the ones have been solids and wild prints. Jack Adams took a middle ground to this jock. It’s not super traditional or wild. I would say it’s more on the “classic” side.  Meaning it won’t go out of style. At least I think that.

401-202ls-red-b

The next thing you won’t notice in the picture, but you will when you put it on is the fabric. “An extremely luxurious  fabric, it’s cool to the touch, absorbent and similar in texture  to silk or cotton.  Unlike cotton, however, it is resistant to shrinkage and less likely to fade or pill.  Fits and feels like a second skin.  Performs well for even the longest day’s wear.  Made of 95% Modal and 5% Elastane.” This pair is made to be worn for any occasion. It will hold up to daily wear and regular washing.

There are two color options in this line. You can get either blue or red. Each one has the black Jack Adams waistband. The  name is in the waistband, but in the same color. It won’t be blatant if it should ride up. It’s a great color combination with the two colors and the waistband.

I really love this jock. Jack Adams did a great job in the design of this pair. I hope you guys will check it out!

8As we celebrate our 8th year I thought I would share some things that I have learned over the years about underwear, the industry, and our readers. Some are no brainers and others really surprised me.

The Industry Is Small

I’m not talking as in sales or pairs sold every year. The men’s underwear market is $4 billion and growing. Rather, the people behind brands are a small staff. Other than Calvin Klein and 2(X)ist. Most brands have 4-6 people running it. They do amazing things on a small staff. It has been this way since 2008.

Guys Love Small Underwear

My personal preference is small undies. Bikinis have always been my go to style. Even in the days of boxer briefs and boxers. I would seek out smaller cuts. As I talk to many of you guys, you love bikinis, thongs and smaller! Across the board its one thing we have in common. In our reader survey it reaffirms this. It makes me happy that this area of men’s underwear is growing.

Straight/Bi/Gay Our origins story are the same

This is one of the WOW moments for me. The time we all started liking underwear is about the same. Usually early to mid teens. Some guys acted on it and other did not. Again across the board. Most really started to try out new pairs in college or after moving our of our parent’s house. After that it took off and there was no looking back.

Guys Love fashion Vs. those who don’t

We have a divide in our ranks. It’s not a bad one, but it makes me laugh. I have been on both sides of this divide. Guys who love underwear are either very fashion conscious or not at all. Those who are not, the underwear is the best thing they wear. Currently, I’m on the don’t side rather than do. I need to step it up.

There are some true underwear addicts out there!

I thought I had a lot of undies around 400 pairs but I have talked to guys who have thousands of pairs. I say my hat is off if you have that much. Some of them have really great storage systems for them. On top of that a few of them have even created spreadsheets to keep track of their collections. I should do this because I always forget pairs I have and discover them in back of a drawer. But, if you’re one of the guys, know you have a lot more than a blogger! You are the guys we also love! You want to know the newest, lastest and greatest underwear on the market.

Sexy is different for each guy

We find many things sexy. Some it’s a thong or mesh. Other guys like classic white briefs. This goes along with what our partner/wife/husband likes as well. I remember a few years ago I tried to define date night underwear. This got me a lot of feedback that I was off base and never made that mistake again. I find date night undies to be skimpy, mesh and similar. You guys have a different definition!

Straight guys want to wear swim briefs

I always thought us gay guys were the ones to wear the swim briefs. I never thought that straight guys would want to be able to rock a swim brief on the beach or pool. But many of you do. The stories we have heard from many guys has them wearing them out of the country. They wear them in the Caribean, Europe or Mexico. Guys tell us how liberating it feels being able to wear them without judgment. They wish they could do the same in the State and not get labeled gay.

Underwear Guys are the Best Guys

If a guy loves  underwear and you bond over the fact. I think you have a friend for life. I’m not talking about sexual bonding but rather something you have in common. Over the years I have met gay/bi/straight guys all who have become friends. It’s all over underwear. Underwear is something really rarely talked about. When you can and really share your passion you open up more. This goes for all guys, not just gay. I think gay guys get put in the “underwear is sexual” all to often. We all need to talk undies because it is normal!

These are just a few things I have found out. There are tons more but when I put myself on the spot. My mind goes blank. But just know there are many of you guys out there and we need to develop a community around us regardless of sexual orientation. I hope we get at least 8 more years of UNB!

bite-wear-bw16107_purple_2

I know from talking to a lot of you guys. That you love skimpier cuts, mesh and fun colors. A new brand that has come across my radar fits all these qualifications. It’s call Bite Wear. Bite Wear is a brand out of Columbia. It used Columbian fabrics to create a sexy, yet fun line.

One thing is consistent across the line. It’s all about sex appeal. There are a number of thongs in the collection. However, don’t mistake the boxer briefs as not being sexy. They have mesh and cut outs to date to bare as much as you want. If you’re a fan of purple, this line is going to be awesome for you! There are pairs in purple and a lot of other pairs use purple trim and waistbands. Other colors used are black and a teal color.

We are going to walk you through the line. It’s not a super huge line. We hope you will enjoy this new line!

Is running an underwear blog as glamorous as it seems? Why yes it is! Said sarcastically! It’s a lot of work. UNB enters out 8th year of serving guys the latest in underwear, swimwear and more. Planning the week starts on Sunday and usually by Monday afternoon the schedule has gone crazy.

This is not because things go awry here. There is so much going on in the world of underwear, things get juggled. It has taught me to come up with a tentative schedule. We will get notice a new brand is out and will have to shuffle posts around. I have long given up on having a set editorial calendar each week. It’s more go with the flow.

What will your support mean? We can do more shoots and improve the blog. Recently we ran a poll about real guys in shoots. You guys asked why didn’t we get a brand to support it. Well, that’s a long discussion. It’s just, currently, easier if we take this project on and see it through. We would love brand support on these projects.

We currently don’t take money for posts and don’t have any intrusive advertisements. Why do we do this? First, we want to be objective and not be paid to post some. If you guys love something we will post more about it, if not we won’t. Next, reader experience is most important to me. I HATE sites with ads that take over the screen, videos that open from nowhere and ads between posts. Sites that does this, I never come back too. We may at some point may need to take on more advertising but we won’t have it be intrusive to your experience.

If you want to donate, go to the UNB Patreon page. Even just $1 a month will make a difference. Enough guys giving $1 can turn into something big! At the $1 level we are letting every one of our Patrons into our Private Slack for supporters. It’s a place you can talk undies and get to know the editorial guys and also other supporters. It’s a great group of guys and we have some good conversations!

Brief Talk: Dietz - Underweardude & The Bottom DrawerHi guys, The Bottom Drawer and Underweardude here to do a little discussion on the brand Dietz. Both of us have discovered the brand in the last couple of years and find them to be a good choice. Let’s get down to the questions.

How did you come across the brand Dietz and what grabbed your attention to try them?

The Bottom Drawer: I came across the Dietz brand on Tumblr. I stumbled upon some photos taken by who is now called 68pence on there. I liked that his photos were taken in places like around the house instead of just studio shots. That to me allows me to relate more to the situation and picture myself in the undies. In the end the cut matters along with design, which Dietz fit into my kind of style.

Underweardude: I came across the brand through you (The Bottom Drawer), seeing you on twitter espousing how much you liked them. Since we both share a common interest in skimpier pairs, I decided to check them out. I was drawn to the brand by the predominance of skimpier cuts.

What do you think makes Dietz different from other brands?

Underweardude: I think Dietz’s styling is what sets them apart. They kind of remind me of N2N in a sense, as their pairs usually have a simple but sophisticated look about them. They just ooze sex appeal. I also find it interesting that it is hard to tell their underwear from the swimwear, as you can probably use some as both, I gather. Basically, their choice of cuts and style fits right up my alley.

The Bottom Drawer: I like how you put it “simple but sophisticated look.” It is the subtle color accenting they add into their styles that I think gives their underwear some character and a bit of pop. Be it with the piping, waistband, logo, and/or stitching on their underwear or swimwear.

Favorite pair so far and why?

The Bottom Drawer: The Joker brief of theirs is my favorite so far. It’s a nice snug fitting bikini cut. I also like that the pouch is two toned color with black and yellow and a solid yellow back.

Underweardude: My favorite pair is my only pair by them of yet, the Ocean Brief.

Is there a pair you are wanting to try and why?

Underweardude: I am curious to try one of the brands thongs, As of course more of their bikinis. The choice as of today would likely be from the Firenze or Firenze Sec lines.

The Bottom Drawer: The Firenze lines are the ones I’ve been eyeing too. I really wanted one of the bikinis, but I saw they added a thong cut to the Firenze Sec collection. So now the thong tops the list. Though probably get one of each when the time is right. I think the fabric looks super soft and again the slight color addition at the top of the waist and the logo makes them stand out to me.

Anything you would like to see more of from Dietz?

The Bottom Drawer: Main thing I’d like to see is more thong cuts like the Firenze Sec ones they introduced recently and also skimpier cut bikini style swim briefs. More color options in the styles they already offer would be good too.

Underweardude: I guess all I really want to see more from Dietz is more interesting stuff. Would be really fun to see them keep working on their own style.

That wraps up our talk on Dietz. If you have any question or feedback on Dietz, just comment below.

bodyaware-img_8777-1

BodyAware has a new website! To celebrate the occasion they are giving you 15% off your purchase. Use code Take15 at check out! This includes the Greek God Brief pictured above! BodyAware has really gone mainstream in the last year. We hear so many of you, that shop there and love what they are doing. They have their own take on men’s underwear and it’s working for them!

One of the fabrics guys are loving, from BodyAware is lace. The Normandy Lace Collection has released a few new styles. Guys are loving the mix of masculine and feminine. BodyAware has been on the front line of the lace underwear movement.

Normandy Lace Cheek Brief – This reminds me of a boy short than a brief. The back is not a full back. Made with a pouch to give you support. they call this pair deliciously provocative. Available in three colors. Black, Pink and Aqua and retails for $21.95.

Normandy Lace Pouch Brief – My one issue with lace has always been the pouch. Some brands don’t make a great pouch to hold everything. The Lace Pouch Brief solves that problem. It has a great pouch that should hold most guys wanting to try lace. It is available in the same colors as the Lace Cheek Brief, but add an additional color of White. It retails for $20.95

There is one more pair. The Normandy Lace Briefs. It has a similar cut as the Lace Cheek Brief. However, it has a fuller back. It has a pouch built into the design. The design also has no elastic in the legs to make it more comfortable. Made in the same colors as the Lace Pouch Brief. It retails for $22.95

If you are a fan of lace or want to give it a try. Now is the time. You can save some  money and give it a try.

Hey you fantastic sexy kinksters,

Welcome to October! I hope you all are starting to think about your halloween looks? I have mine already decided mostly because I’m in a show through the 2nd half of October playing a time travelling clockwork doll humanoid (it’s a halloween circus show, get into it!). If you are more of a store bought costume kind of guy, I wish you a good find. If you are more of a crafty stud armed with a sewing machine and a dream, I wish you luck, and please remember, no good sewing happens after 2 am (trust me.) If you’re new to the column,  you’ll know that one of my careers is as a costume designer/seamster, so I’m really into fiber arts. Some of you might remember my profile on KnittyGrittyNYC and his fantastic knit jockstraps. Well, today, I have another super sexy find from the craft world that I want you all to know about. This time, I am keeping it in the family, the daughter of the featured designer today is a colleague and friend of mine in the local Boston performance world, and I am delighted to share her mom’s work with you.

What happens when you take a witchy knitter, metal scales, and a passion for imagination? You get DragonSwag by Mamma Bones (“Comfy yet badass”). You have seen knit arm gauntlets, and shrugs, you may have seen them beaded, but have you ever seen them with DRAGON SCALES!?

dragonswag2

Mamma Bones knits these amazing creations herself, using wool yarn, aluminum punched scales, and a bad-ass imagination. She has many items up on her Etsy page, but is also really cool with custom ideas, and constantly makes work for the local Boston performer community tailored to their needs.

dragonswag3

A specialty of Mamma Bones is the DragonSwag gauntlets. Available at any length, these fingerless gloves convert your arms into sexy scaled armour arms. These can be found in solid colors, analogous color schemes, or some really cool contrast patterns. The luxury of DragonSwag is you get all the super bad-ass perks of having some serious metal hugging your body, but you get to just feel super comfy knit yarn on your skin, so avoiding the discomfort.

dragonswag1

Mamma Bones has done bras and panties for female bodies before, I think i need to put in a request for a sexy jockstrap/harness situation. If you want something pre-made for Halloween, maybe this is the Etsy page you’ve been looking for. If you’re willing to wait (every custom piece is made to order), you can order your own ideas and color combo items for your future dragony dress up needs.

I love how many materials I’ve discovered on my fetish friday journey. So far, we have encountered leather, spandex, rubber, neoprene, knitting, knitting with scales, sequins, lace. Not to mention all the fun creations we’ve witnessed together.

Mamma Bones has a few different places to check out:

TtheAmazing, over and out!

8thanniversaryThis week marks my 8th anniversary of UNB. 8 years of talking and writing about underwear. It seems like yesterday I sat down in front of my computer and started this journey. I won’t go into the origins story, I have done that so many times over the years!

What has 8 years of UNB taught me over the years?

I am the IT guy – When UNB was first launched we had shared hosting. Which was great till we grew too big and had to get our own server. A friend helped me move it over and then March hit this past month. We were down for the most of a 4 day period. This taught me all about web servers and moving WordPress sites.

Underwear Guys are the best guys – Over the years I have talked and befriended many readers out there. Regardless of bi, gay or straight, underwear guys are the most amazing guys. The blog has let me meet so many good guys. We begin with the underwear connection and then discover more we have in common. The support from long-time readers is amazing. You guys remind me why I do this, for 8 years.

Problem-solving is one of my strengths – UNB is on a budget. You may think we are this glamorous organization but we aren’t. We range from 4 to 12 guys over the years. When we have issues that hit the blog, I have to come up with a way to solve them. Usually on a budget and creatively. In the early years I would freak out and worry, now its worry then “I got this.” I have fixed many problems I never thought I could on my own.

What will the next few year hold? I’m not sure, other than the blog will go on! We are in the process of developing a community amongst all the underwear guys out there. It’s amazing how we are all very similar. Across all sexual identities, we virtually have the same story.

We are going to do some more anniversary stuff next week. The reason is I think of UNB as created in Mid October, when in fact the domain renewal is the first week in October. Stay Tuned and I’ll walk you through some of our best moments of UNB! .

is_nylon_orange-front_161004081400I think aussieBum has made underwear for just about every holiday you can think of on the calendar. The latest range is the Monster Mash, just in time for Halloween. But, it’s not just underwear but swimwear and singlet. Singlet as in tank top in Austrailia, not a wrestling singlet.

The official text is: “It’s time to rattle those ‘pots and pans’ for Halloween festivities. Working with our talented mate Paul we present the Good ‘Ol Days – Monster Mash inspired Zombie crew. Available in limited edition underwear, swimwear and boardies these babies are going to howl in your pants and have your friends wanting to peek inside. Monster Mash is custom engineered and built to last. Have fun this summer as aussieBum celebrates Halloween.”

The styles are for underwear are just briefs. Sorry there are no hipsters in this line. Each color has a different monster on the pouch. They appear to be Frankenstein, Werewolf, and a Zombi. Each of the three have their own colors as well. It’s also more of a traditional cut brief.

The swimwear wear comes in three different styles. I call them the brief, short and trunk. The brief is very similar to the Super low line. Made out of 100% Polyester. The trunk is the shorter cut of the two short of the two. It has an elastic waistband with a drawstring. The Short is more of a board short, has a solid waistband with a snap. Each has a unique print of the three different characters. Each differ from style to style. Lastly, is the singlet. It matches perfectly with the rest of the line. It’s not matchy matchy but compliments the rest of the collection. It also has a black stripe on each side. Perfect to be worn to the beach or pool.

I like these because they aren’t too holiday specific. They can be worn year round. Especially if you like graphic/cartoon prints. Make sure you check out the entire line!

The cost are:

  • Brief $21.75
  • Swim brief $21.75
  • trunk $25.50
  • Short $50.75
  • Singlet $21.75

b6d013553e104e1eab0824319cd66e17-jpg-500-500-cropped-highC-IN2 is no stranger to making great jocks. Previous pairs they have shaped the design of their current jocks. The Grip line was one of the first to have this unique design that is the Culture Club Street Jock. The straps that come around and attach on the waistband above the pouch.

We chose this line is because of the great colors C-IN2 does for Culture Club. The Culture Club line started with some bright and fun prints. This collection still has prints but they are a bit more subtle. The prints are Croc Print (green), Herring Bone (blue), Hounds Tooth (purple) and Shark Skin (orange/purple).

There are two different C-IN2 waistbands in this collection. The first two have a waistband with a blue stripe at the bottom. The last two have the same gray band with an orange stripe at the bottom. It matches the pair very nicely. The gray background and colored stripe is the perfect accent.

The Culture Club street jock is made out of a 95% Cotton, 5% Spandex/Elastane/Lycra. Which means it will be super comfy no matter what you do in this jock. It can be worn to the gym, under your work clothes or just around the house. Fashion jocks are made for everyday wear not just working out and the gym!

If you are after a stylish and fun jock, this is the pair for you. It will have a print you will love that will fit your style. From more conservative to a bright!

Andrew Christian furnished the Black Collection Air Tagless Boxer for review.

Rating: 10/10

  • Daily Fit: 10/10
  • Sizing: 10/10
  • Construction: 10/10
  • Styling: 10/10
  • Daily Performance: 10/10

Pros: Fabric, Pouch, Executive Look

Cons: Absolutely Zero

SALVATORE Recommendation: The Andrew Christian Black Collection is an amazingly crafted set of briefs and boxers. Designed to spew fashion on any occasion and under anything. Andrew and his LA-based design team seem to have created the world’s sleekest and classy cuts for any man. The boxer is no exception to the rule when compared against the other designs in the collection.

I am a true fan of modal fabric and great fitting pouches in designer underwear. This boxer combines the two to create a utopic fit that goes beyond most other products on the market. You can see that I review the pair with a perfect ten. The reason is simple—It really is that great. The pouch and fabric take the cake!

90017_black_boxerThe pouch is the signature oversized anatomical design that Andrew Christian has perfected. Many argue that he is the originator of the ergonomic delight that so many brands have caught on to. That can be an argument for another post. If you like the natural feel and hang of anatomical pouches, this boxer does not disappoint.

The fabric of the brief is one of my favorites. Modal is always awesome. However, the rayon made from modal is an extra soft feel next to the skin that gives a next to nothing composition. This delightful fabric stays in place. It creates a seamless look under clothing, and keeps the legs from bunching too much when seated. The boxer displays the ultimate comfort in men’s underwear fabrics.

I know many of our readers who prefer bikinis/briefs are reluctant to try boxers and trunks I encourage all of you that not matter what you prefer, give this boxer a chance. The price might be a little intimidating, but if you keep an eye on the Andrew Christian site, they are sure to run a sale. This is a must-have addition to your collection.
