11085-LHello Fetish Friday readers, welcome to the second week of this glorious column. If you didn’t catch last week’s post about the Fort Troff Grunt Jock, it’s definitely worth a read. This week, we’re going in a very different direction (I want Fetish Friday to welcome all kinks and curiosities).

In my recent conversations with gentlemen callers. I have come across a fetish that I’m not that into, and a stimulation that I agree with. The first gentleman was really into women’s lingerie, “panties” was the term he used. While I can say that’s certainly not something I’m into, I’ve heard about it enough to be a presence. The latter gentleman told me what he was most into is seeing a wet bulge (i.e. speedos, showering in undies…etc). Now, this idea I can certainly get behind (or in front of). I was thinking about what would pair in my arsenal would make a good wet-bulge performance. I realized the pair I selected kind of felt like it could jive with the women’s lingerie guy a bit. That brought me to remember my order from BodyAware a few months ago. And here we have it, the pair for this week’s Fetish Friday: the BodyAware Invisible Shaper Brief.

BodyAware is not a frilly brand. They make sexy contouring shapes that hug the body. No crazy strap configurations, or metallic waistbands. They are sleek and sensual. Their fabric is very thin, but of high quality 90% polyamide/10% spandex blend. The Invisible Shaper Brief is a sexy brief, with a very nicely pushed out pouch. The fabric has a bit of sheerness to it (probably more for the lighter colors). When wet, the fabric doesn’t droop or sag, but all the details get a bit more visible.

While I don’t have anything that would truly satisfy the women’s panty gentleman. I think this would definitely fall into the genre of men’s lingerie. I can also guarantee it was a hit with the Wet Bulge Appreciation Society. It’s silky, it’s skimpy, it’s sheer, and it gives everything a little lift. This guy costs a mere $18.50 over on the BodyAware site.

When it comes to what would be considered “high end fashionable.” In clothing there has been the reality that samples and models are made for the thinner. We’ve seen this in the world of women’s fashion for ages and for men’s fashion as well. We’ve also seen the small but persistent backlashes and pushbacks of such realities. Because the real-life reality is that most men and women don’t fit into the model like form.

The pushbacks have generally, yet not always, been on the side of women’s fashion. We’ve seen lines and brand highlight “plus size” women in certain campaigns. We herald them as breaking the all too restrictive fashion mold. The spotlight has not always shown as bright on the world of men’s fashion.

Often if you’re not rail thin and lanky or tall and muscular you will not see yourself reflected in men’s fashion.  Especially not men’s underwear fashion. Now, gay centric underwear may go a bit further than the more broad based brands. Even still one generally would have to turn to brands specific to “bears” or just burlier men.

An unlikely source of a mold breaker is coming from American Eagle! Aerie has just launched a campaign for the everyday, every shape man. Hallelujah! The new campaign called #AerieMan has four models of varying sizes and showcases the men doing everyday things in their underwear.

Campaigns and brands like this are important to everyone, even those who do fit the general model description. Diversity and self-image love affect every single person. The more that we can do to celebrate and acknowledge the beautiful differences in ourselves the better.

American Eagle has always had a fairly solid men’s underwear selection. Often full of bright colors, fun designs, and goofy cartoons. They have solid trunks and good briefs. I have met many people for whom AE underwear was their first step outside of old Jockeys that their parents bought them. And American Eagle has continued to work on their style and their branding. Offering a higher end selection than their goofy cartoons. It is these undies that are on display in the campaign.

Love your body. Love your curves. Love everything that you’re working with!

New Prints – Beau Briefs

Clever is bringing the underwear world a way to spice up a traditional underwear drawer with their new line of boxers and briefs. Done in large, eye catching prints. Reminiscent of prints traditionally found in lines done by Pull-In or Freegun. These prints put a spin on their traditionally transparent and more risqué classics. The prints run the fauna gamut from Exotic Parrot to Natural snake with a flora span from wheat spikes to flowery touch. One commonality is the hue, the collection plays mostly with cool colors.

The line also gives choices in briefs and boxers with some prints coming in the Cheeky brief for those wanting a shapelier bulge. New Thongs – Underwear Dude

There are two new thongs, each with Clever’s distinctive back. Which carries the front material all the way up and over the waistband. The first, called Burning Desire, comes in two color combinations: Gray and Green.

Grey has a nice understated purple pouch and back, with a black waistband and metallic/ silver lettering.  The Green pair also comes in, you guessed it, a nice light green, just in time for spring. Combined with a gold on gold logo waistband, you have one bright and jazzy pair!

That would eventually lead to one of today’s most iconic underwear brands. A simple turquoise bikini served as the spark that would turn into the blazing hot brand, N2N. Ten years later in May 1997 after lots of work and dedication the official brand was born.

That bikini got Andrew thinking, what if every day underwear was made not just to be worn but to be sexy?

In the years that would follow Andrew sought to learn the tools of the trade. He became self-taught in the design process. Most importantly in the use of the industrial machines that would help produce his underwear. This process was not always smooth, relying on the trial and error method a lot in the beginning.

The first pair that he worked on and finished was a bikini, perfect for where he was living at the time, Orlando. It was 1989, two years after he first bought his turquoise pair in Acapulco but still 8 long years before he would officially launch his brand.

Those years were filled with trials and errors and successes. Still he was fueled by his desire to bring his vision for sexy, ready to wear underwear to life. There didn’t need to be a line between every day wear and more lingerie. Which was only meant to be worn before intimacy.

He was continually helped by fellow performers and friends, especially Brian Sturzenacher, during that time. It would be through the help of friends that would get Andrew through the launch of his store. Also through the first many years. If they weren’t letting him crash on his couch they were helping believe in his vision. Like Angus Kennedy who later became the company’s CFO.

It would still be a little bit of time before Andrew would launch N2N inside of someone else’s store. Someone took a chance on him. Don with Los Angeles Sport Company agreed to sell some of Andrew’s designs in his store. This was it, his first real exposure. It was a big step for Andrew and for N2N.

One of the big moments that stands out to Andrew is receiving his first shipment of underwear sewn by a contract sewer. It would have taken him weeks if not months to do the same amount of work. His production could now be sped up and give him more time to focus on the design and the business. What a relief!

Finally in May of 1997. Ten long years after his life on cruise ships. N2N launched in a shared space with a women’s swimwear store in West Hollywood. His own designs, his vision was out there for the world, or at least the greater L.A. area, to see. Andrew was getting to help put men in seductive pairs of underwear.

In 1997 his designs relied a lot upon sex appeal. Skimpy. Tight. Alluring. The old adage that sex sells rings true for a reason and people were starting to notice N2N.

However, some of those people were his collaborators, his partners. First he noticed that the Women’s Swimwear store started to branch out and was selling remarkably similar pairs on their side of the store. Then he learned that his sewing contractor was marketing identical designs overseas as well.

Needless to say that was the end to those partnerships.

Scorned and saddened it was the enthusiasm generated from his designs that got him through. The reception was making a buzz and Andrew’s vision for suggestively filled underwear drawers pulled him back into work.

The first years were slim, not only in design but in financial success. When not couch surfing (before it was trendy) Andrew could often be found waking up having slept on top of his fabric bolts. Struggling but encouraged he continued to evolve his brand, his vision.

He wanted his underwear to compliment all types of guys. He moved the designs forward, past “skimpy = sexy” to experimenting with fabrics that left less to the imagination then the cut did. N2N would push the envelope of what every day underwear could be. While staying true to the goal of sexy, every day underwear that made the wearer feel empowered.

After many years of hustling his wears at trade shows. Andrew started to plunge more and more resources into the all mighty advertising. At the time the way to go was expensive print advertising. Pricy magazine ads helped to bolster N2N’s sales and the brand started to grow and grow.

After 6 or 7 years Andrew finally felt that N2N had arrived and had established staying power. From a cruise ship to a share space in West Hollywood to championing the brand around the industry. He finally knew his vision was hitting home. And then came…the internet.

The world at your fingertips and the world’s fingertips at your door N2N’s sales took off. Internet marketing was a godsend. With less cost than the pricy print advertising the brand’s reach was greatly extended.

Pairs of sexy underwear were being shipped all over the place. Eddie Flores, N2N’s artistic director, and Andrew Makay continue to stay true to their vision of incredibly sultry underwear for everybody for every day.

N2N’s lines incorporate different styles and cuts. So that any body type can find their own sexiness reflected in their underwear. Trunks can be sexy. Briefs can be sexy. Thongs can be sexy. You can be sexy.

For over 18 years N2N has been championing sensual drawers in your drawers. For those same 18 years N2N has been locally made in Los Angeles, a fact that Andrew happily highlights.

And speaking of happy highlights. One of the biggest moments for Andrew and N2N came in 2014 when none other than Neil Patrick Harris touted his love for N2N underwear. During an interview with Vanity Fair Neil stated that N2N was his current favorite brand. “They’re perfectly designed to honor the goods, and not smash them”.

Andrew described the shout out by NPH as one of the proudest in his professional underwear career. Other proud moments have come from dealing with some extraordinary models like William Levy and Adam Ritchson who have gone on to big things. Levy went on to have a very successful acting career and recently appeared on ABC’s Dancing with the Stars.

Yet when asked about what really brings him pride after all of these years of getting sexy men into sexy underwear he points to his repeat customers. People across the world look to their underwear to give them an extra bounce in their step. A feather in their caps and many of those people are repeatedly choosing N2N. Repeat customers give Andrew and the rest of the N2N team the knowledge that they continue to hit the bullseye of what makes people feel sexy, confident, wonderful!

It took a turquoise bikini, years of hard work, sleepless night, toil and turmoil, and constant encouragement but N2N has grown into one of today’s iconic underwear brands. Andrew, Eddie Flores, and the whole N2N organization continue to look to the future for inspiration so that the rest of us can continue to fill our underwear drawers with pairs that, as Neil Patrick Harris said, “…honor the goods…”

the sparks between us willWhat happens when you get ready for  date? You pick out clothes that dress to impress right? But do you do the same with your underwear on a date night? I have a feeling I maybe preaching to the choir on this post but I think it’s something important to explore. Not because you guys need to wear better undies but what you should wear on each date. So I will give my advice on what I think you should wear on different date nights.

First Date: 

The dreaded first date. If you’re like me you’re already on edge. You want to make a great impression so plan everything. But do you wear underwear to give you confidence. I think many guys really go conservative on the first date. I say you go the opposite. Wear something you feel super sexy in! Why? Because wearing something you feel sexy in will give you confidence. Wearing something conservative you may not wear often could drive you crazy. What is that person sees your underwear that night, Well lucky you! It will let them know you love sexy undies! Why not have it out in the open.

Fifth Date: 

For most people, NOTE I said most people! Around the fifth date you are getting more intimate. So you should def step up your underwear game. Your partner is going to see them at some point so don’t wear something outside of what you normally wear. I think many guys who go out with people who they don’t know like guys in undies will go conservative in an effort to not scare them off. If they stay at your house sooner or later the undies drawer is going to be open and that leopard thong will be seen! And really, would you want to date someone who makes fun of your undies? I say HELL NO!

Anniversary Nights: 

So you two have been dating for a while. It could be six months (if you’re one of those couples) a year or more. By now your partner should be open to your undies. These are the nights you should wear something your partner will love. It could be outside of your box and super wild. Find out what they want to see you in and surprise them! The whole point of the evening is to turn them on and have an amazing night. The styles could range from a g-string to silk boxers. Show your partner you want to turn them on and willing to try new things. Even if you don’t like the pair they want. It’s a give and take!

Wedding Nights:

Now we can all get married. HUZZAH Marriage Equality! I have always thought in a wedding your underwear should match your tie. If you’re going to have a purple tie why not purple undies. But that’s an entirely different post. Let’s fast forward the reception is over and it’s time to spend some time after a long, hectic day. I say put on something like Gregg Homme. Why not break into the fetish wear! If you can get both of you something that matches for a fun night!

What you buy is a jock that has no pouch on the front, with snaps at the top two corners of the pouch area, and one under the balls. The pouches are all cut in the style of more a boxy leather type pouch with a centered vertical strip and curved side walls. The centered strip features the Fort Troff logo. For the neoprene pouch, the sides are textures with little bitty diamonds, which gives it a very hardcore look. The spandex has the same rubber center logo strip with spandex side panels.

I love this jock for many reasons. The first reason is the straps are nice and thick, so they feel firm and steady. The other big feature is the pouch is fully detachable. So when you are ready to reveal the present within, you don’t have an awkward pouch flap hanging between your legs (there should only be one focus between your legs). I personally own the black neoprene pouch and a blue spandex pouch. I like the spandex a little bit more than the neoprene pouch, but love them both for different occasions.
