Today’s Brief Distraction is from Jockstrap Central They just finished our first photoshoot with Draven Torres. This totally hot Hispanic and Native Indian helped us create some of our best underwear (and coming soon..jockstrap) imagery to date. Here are photos of Draven in the new Activeman Underwear.
The PPU Pin Stripe 0998 bikini was a fun pair of underwear to try out. PPU Underwear is an underwear company from Colombia that seeks to create underwear of high-quality, affordable, and sexy intimate apparel for men. The look of the bikini was above average with the stark white waistband and black front and back, but the pin striping set everything off nicely.
The fabric consisted of 92% Nylon and 8% Spandex and was soft and conforming. It seems like every underwear company is experimenting successfully with fabric combinations. The same fabric composition can change drastically among companies. The waistband measures one and three-quarters inches and was white with a shiny PPU logo embroidered on it. The logo was not centered above the front panel, so this will not make everyone happy, but it really does not bother me. The leg openings were highlighted by a slim white piece of elastic material to provide a nice contract to the black fabric. Overall, the fabric and design was very comfortable.
Size large fit well. The pouch was pieced together from two separte pieces of fabric to provide the cut that fits the best on the male form. There was an internal seam which I never noticed while wearing. The rear is a medium fit and some guys will not like how it hits their assets The leg openings were comfortable. The piece of fabric that hits the area behind your package was slim and just the right width.
I wore these on standard days of general daily activity. This bikini was comfortable and felt great against my body with the soft fabric and right sized waistband width. My khaki pants and my jeans had no issue with clinging to the undies or pulling at them during the day due to the slick fabric. I found several sites offering this bikini for less than $20. So, the cost is a bit high, but you do get what you pay for, I suppose. Overall, I enjoyed the majority of the features of this bikini.

JOCKSTRAP CENTRAL’S GOT YOUR COVERED WITH ACTIVEMAN’S NEW UNDERWEAR!
Activeman, a company known for it’s affordable traditional jockstraps, have broken into the men’s underwear market big time putting a guy’s unique anatomy and his comfort up front. The Liberty Trunk is constructed of one of the most exciting new fabrics out there: Modal. Modal is a processed bio-based textile made from the beech tree. In many ways, a modal acts like cotton but with the advantages of rayon. It’s soft, smooth and breathes well. It is cool to the touch and very absorbent with a resistance to shrinkage. Modal is also less likely to fade or to form pills as a result of friction and stays soft through repeated washings. Of course, our favorite feature of modal is simply it’s stretchability and it’s nature to expand adapting to anything that may pop up! The Activeman Sports Brief is constructed of a sturdy but stretchy cotton with a touch of Elastane for the ultimate fit. The fully formed and roomy ergonomic 3d pouch ensures the utmost in comfort for a guy. This quality of underwear at this price is unheard of. The Liberty Trunk is only $14.95 and comes in both white and black. The Sports Brief is only $12.95 and comes in black, white and grey. If you’re looking for the perfect everyday underwear that’s totally affordable, stylish, comfortable and built to last then we think we’ve found it for you with the newly launched Activeman Underwear now at Jockstrap Central shop at: http://www.jockstrapcentral.com |

We bring you another picture from Good Boy Gone Bad! I have just secured a meeting with them in Vegas in two weeks. So we will be bringing you all the new pairs and hopefully a video from them!
Hey everyone it is great to be back reviewing again. I have been super busy over the last year or so, and been helping out behind the scenes here at UNB. It is good to be giving a helpful insight into some of the new styles and brands coming out in men’s underwear for 2012. I love trying new brands and this brand has me very interested.
I am reviewing the Luis & Juke Pink Jimmy Trunk in a size medium. This is the first pair that I have ever had the chance to wear from this particular brand and I have to say it won’t be my last. If you are not familiar with Luis & Juke, they are from across the pond in the UK. They don’t have a ton of different cuts, but the colors and patterns are enough to keep this brand looking fresh.
The first thing that I noticed about these undies was the bright pink fabric and the purple waistband. I love bright colors and patterns and these did not disappoint. When I opened up the package I saw that they looked a little bigger then what most mediums do and after I tried them out I can say that they do run a little bigger then normal. I am a 32 waist and the mediums fit 32-34. I would recommend that if you are on the fence about what size to get, go smaller. The design of these undies is great. The bright pink offset with the purple waistband and purple stitching is one of my favorite color combinations. If pink and purple aren’t your colors of choice, don’t worry these come in other colors as well.
The material is pretty standard. It is a 95% cotton and 5% elastane. This combo gives it just the right amount of comfort and stretch to stay in place and makes these undies perfect for all day, everyday wear. The waistband is a standard one-inch and doesn’t dig in or pinch like some undies that I have tried. The purple waistband also features the Luis & Juke logo in orange. Not sue why they choose an orange logo with pink and purple but that is not too big of a deal for me. These also have a closed fly, so if you are a guy that like a fly in the front, these are not for you.
These undies fit great and look great. They are a trunk cut so they have a little shorter inseam then a boxer brief but provide enough coverage all the way around. They fit right at the waist, which is great as well. If you are looking for something that sit a little lower on the waist I would look else wear.
PRO’s:
- Color and “flashy factor”
- Comfortable for all day everyday wear no matter what you are doing
CON’s:
- Sizes run a little big
- Orange Logo on the waistband doesn’t really fit in with the rest of the design.

Today, I am going to review the CandyMan 9511 Thong. This thong has a triangular cut out at the top of the front pouch as well as the rear strap. Much to my surprise, I receive a pair with a black waistband and nautical white/navy striped pouch! Loving everything nautical, I couldn’t wait to toss on these babies!
The construction appeared to be well done, although my OCD got the best of me seeing as the stripes don’t line up on the 93%Polyester, 7% Elastane pouch. Upon first test drive, I realized that one must dress in the ‘down position’ as the pouch wasn’t quite large enough and dressing ‘up’ would result in a potential ‘escape’ of the anaconda … If you know what I mean. That noted, The pouch cut out, when positioned correctly allowed for one to pull their ‘snake’ out, allowing it to freely hang while the boys remain nicely supported inside the pouch.
I wore this thong to work and out for drinks afterward. The pouch, being a little too small, required proper adjustment a few times during the day. The fabric, while descent, wasn’t the softest thing, which caused a little discomfort towards the end of the day.
Likes:
- Good construction
- Great pattern
- Suggestive design.
Dislikes:
- Pouch was on the smaller side
- Cut out required one ‘dress’ down
- Fabric wasn’t the softest

Today’s Brief Distraction is from WildmanT. They have just released a new line. We have covered them since the beginning of the blog. SO check them out!
I posted this on Facebook today and it got me thinking. (If you haven’t watched the ad, please do so now). I posed the question that is the mainstream media scared of men’s underwear ads? Which is ironic to ask since our last Podcast with Freshpair.com, Matthew said that when FreshPair.com first started to advertise they were limited as to what they could post.
This is, for all I know, the first men’s underwear ad ever in the Super Bowl. So, for that we have come a long way and hope we have a more men’s underwear ads in the big game and other mainstream shows. However, that said, they barely showed the underwear, and no direct front shot. They just did a partial shot or one from behind. Maybe it was for artistic intent, but I think it’s more, “lets not offend America.”
I am curious as to what you guys think of the ad. Is the media scared of men’s underwear? If so why do you think that? Also, do you think we’ll see more underwear ads? Did you get a picture of what the new Bodywear line will consist of? Basically, is America ready for Men’s Underwear ads? What companies do you want to see advertise on TV? Rate how well H&M did with the ad.

Andrew Christian has done an uncensored version. You can find it here http://www.andrewchristian.com/socialvideos/ What do you think of the video?
My name is Sean, I live, play and work in the design industry in Boston. I have been wearing thongs for years! I originally fell in love at the thought of wearing something that was barely there, but then came to appreciate the functional design of such a garment. I wear thongs during my day-to-day life, especially in the summer and nearly always at the gym. Thongs are perfect for the gym because they do not restrict any motion and there is very little bunching – as an avid yogi and runner, this is a MUST! I also wear thongs out on the town, not to show off, but to go un-noticed under light colored pants.
Today, I am going to review the NDS G-Sting from ABC Underwear. This particular G-String comes in a variety of colors, I just so happen to be wearing the red one. The packaging was pretty no-frills, but I was excited to try them on! The G-String had the standard string sides with an adjustable pouch. Upon first inspection, the construction looked pretty good – almost as if it were meant to double as a swimsuit, which I am sure it could on account of the nylon/elastane blend. The label is a black/silver stag placed on the front of the pouch at the top, which I could do without as it cheapens the look. The sizing on this model was small/medium, and was displayed on a large tag attached at the top of the interior of the pouch. This posed a problem for someone of my size, I am 6’1 and a size 30 waist, meaning smalls usually fit just right; this small/medium was definitely a little too large unless it was meant to be worn higher than standard low-rise underwear. Sometimes being skinny is a curse!
I decided to wear them out for dinner and out for drinks after with friends. I put the G-String on and inspected things in the mirror before setting out. The pouch is contoured, I assume to fit the natural anatomy of a man. This had it pro’s and con’s, most of which I didn’t really notice until I was out and about. While it felt as if my ‘fella’s were allowed to swing so to speak, there was a lack of support and a little too much swing of the pouch while walking. This didn’t offer up a nice ‘display’ of ones assets and the pouch tended to change size seeing as it was not securely fastened to the waist string. The waist of the pouch tended to bunch after walking from the restaurant to the bar and required some adjusting throughout the night. While it was nice to not feel confined, the pouch offered a little too much space and swing. The pouch was also a little uncomfortable as the night went on beneath my pants. While I wasn’t thrilled with the G-String, it was fun to play with the size of the pouch!
PROS
- Good construction
- Fun color
CONS
- Adjustable pouch bunched
- Strange contour
- Itchy tags
- Slightly too big in the waist
- Back strap and pouch,

Popular Aussie underwear company 2wink Australia takes a journey back in time with its new “Walkabout” range of designer men’s underwear. For the first time ever, an Australian underwear company has teamed up with an Aboriginal artist to create a new range of 100% Australian-made men’s underwear.
The underwear range, which celebrates the Aboriginal Australian culture features footprints walking across the waistband. It was designed by Aboriginal artist Peter Mulchay of Queensland, and symbolizes the Aboriginal culture’s rite of passage for adolescent young men.
“We’re proud of our Australian history,” says 2wink Australia co-owner Carl McNeill. “And we wanted to create a range of underwear celebrating the diversity of such history while also incorporating cultural elements that are around today. We also brought on popular fitness model Lee Stram who has helped to create an incredible buzz about the Walkabout range.”
Walkabout low-rise briefs and trunks are available exclusively in black and provide a sexy, masculine look and feel. Aussie craftsmanship offers a mixture of cotton and spandex to hold firm and highlight both front and rear assets. The briefs retail for around $21 – $23 USD (free worldwide shipping), and are available at www.2wink.com.au.
