We continue our series on the Vampire Strippers Must Die. This time interview Pablo Hernandez. You may have seen him in some of the underwear modeling he has done in the past. Here are his answers to our questions about the movie.

Vampire Strippers Must Die the preview looks like a super fun movie. What made you do this fun film?

Just getting to audition for a vampire role was such a cool opportunity! And he’s a stripper! I jumped at this role!

It’s been said it’s a Mix of Magic Mike meets Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Can you tell us about the movie?

It’s fun, it’s campy, it’s so me! I’ve tried to dig into my character and his relationship with his brother Matt by picking on Sam Ortiz as often as possible off camera.

What can you tell us of the Overnight Male Dance Troupe, and what we can expect from them?

I expect that each of us will bring some sexy and different moves to the stage. I know Bryant has some body rolls that give mine a run for my money.

Did your previous modeling experience help you get this role?

When the director of the film, Keith, reached out to me, I think he had some sense of my career. I feel that my modeling is only successful because of my acting skills. I’m not a model that thinks he can act. I’m an actor that loves to role play and the role of model has been my longest running part.

Can you tell us about your character in the movie?

I play the character of Tyler. I never take myself too seriously and I neither does he. At the same time, I don’t want to play the character as myself. I have to incorporate some of myself into him, but I am looking forward to investing into the character and give him a twist.

Do you have any hesitation being in underwear on the big screen as opposed to pictures?

Not really. I know most normal people are not comfortable being in their underwear in public, but I’m most comfortable that way. My years of experience make it easy for me to be move on camera instead of just standing and posing.

The world of underwear has changed greatly since you launched N2N. Just recently guys of all orientations are loving erotic wear. When I was discovering my own love of underwear, I remember coming across N2N and was blown away by what you wear doing. You were one of the first companies I saw doing erotic wear.

N2N was founded in the late 90’s. What made you branch out into designs that were super sexy when other companies were making basic gear?

Growing up in Connecticut, I was always intriqued by sexy underwear and swimwear since I was can remember. You can thank my European dad for that! SO growing up wearing skimpy items was the norm for me even though it would get me ridiculed in the locker room or beach. I noticed that what I came to like wearing was a challenge for find at the time. THANK GOD for International Male in the 80’s…they were my source for inspiration and “porn” 🙂 The magazine reminded me that there was indeed and audience for sexy men’s wear and that there were guys out there that liked what I liked! I wasn’t such the odd ball afterall!

Erotic wear is in every collection, why is the erotic wear so entrenched in the N2N DNA?

Because I hate boring and dull. A pair of sweats or any other article of clothing can be practical and uninspirational or they can be designed in such a way that makes you take notice. Not trashy, but alluringly sexy. That’s my goal.

What was some of the first gear you created? What did you learn from this first line?

The very 1st items I ever designed was before N2N was even a thought. Of course it was sexy swimwear. During my unemployed 6 months in Orlando, FLA in 1990.

One of the newest collections is the Ultra Suede, What inspires you to make new gear?

I am always looking for collections that inspire and push me outside of my comfort box. Thought I would take a somewhat fetishy item, which would typically be created out of leather or pleather and put my spin on it. Nice hardware, stretchy suede and some unique designs such as CHAPS…were all I needed to get inspired!

What qualities make for the best erotic wear? Is it cut? Fabric? color?

Cut and fabric go hand in hand. You can have a great pattern but if your fabric doesn’t stretch the right way, it could be pointless. and vise versa. The color is the icing on the cake but it also a very important obvious factor to the look.

The Black now Liquid Skins has been around for a few years. What have been some of your best sellers over the years in erotic wear?

And they are still going strong! The jock, singlet, muscle top and liquid skin runners are probably the most popular items!

If you could bring one collection back from the past, which would you most like to bring back and why?

Well, the truth is I usually ressurect 1 or 2 items from the past each year. I usually tweek and recolor them to give them new life.

I will be doing that with a series of swimsuits that will be called the “X COLLECTION”…OK, I’ve said too much.

Have you ever designed something and said “Oh my that’s gone too far?”

HA, yes…that usually just ends up in my sample box collecting dust…

Erotic wear used to be only limited to the gay world now straight guys are loving it. Why do you think guys are so attracted to erotic wear?

FINALLY, the straight guys are realizing that sexy clothes that show off the body are genderless….they are not “GAY” clothing. it’s about being comfortable and secure enough in their own bodies. The more celebrities or athletes push the envelope the more you will see the general public make the shift. It is happenening. The more women are accepting of it as well plays a big part. Basically guys or anyone for that matter don’t want to be made fun of , ridiculed or picked on. If we can all just get along and accept everyone for who they are, what they are and not let the clothes you wear define you, we’d be much better off. LORD, that’s what I’ve been doing for over 18 years!

I am still recovering from three days of non-stop walking! This year I had four shows to go too. They are Magic, Curve, Liberty and MRket. The last two were at the Sands Convention Center, Curve moved to the Las Vegas Convention Center and Magic is as always at Mandalay Bay. It was several days of 16,000 steps or more! I have to get walking more before February.

There weren’t as many brands as years past. Many of them are just starting to go just to the February show. But this gives me a little more quality time with the brands that are there. Which is a good thing. The world of men’s underwear is like a small family. It’s a good thing too.

There is one show I may not go to much any more. Curve has had less and less men’s brands. This year no brands I meet with attended the show. It also moved to the Las Vegas Convention Center. This brings out some nostalgia in me. I went to my first curve in Aug 2010. They had about half the men’s brands and Magic the other half. I’ll continue to get in just in case another brand may go. But enough about reminiscing on the past!

This year there are some seriously awesome things coming out of the shows. I met with 2(X)its, 2EROS, Bwet, Gregg Homme, Jack Adams, Timoteo./Cellblock13, Nasty Pig, Wood Underwear, Papi, Pistol Pete, Rounderwear, Junk UnderJeans and Tribe. Not as big as last year but a good number.

So what can you expect:

• Something amazing will be coming from 2(X)its at the first part of the year.
• Gregg Homme blew me away with the new sexy collection
• Jack Adams has a massive new collection that is different from other stuff and I wish I could tell you more
• Junk UnderJeans has some amazing new workout wear and underwear coming
• Nasty Pig is stepping out of it’s box some but still amazing.

These are just a few things I can tell you. Do you hate that I can’t go into more detail? This year is going to be awesome in the world of undies. The picture above is from Junk Underjeans. As the new lines come out we will cover each of them fully. So stay tuned to the blog.

One thing I didn’t like too much was the lack of models. Back in the day we would have tons of pics of the new underwear on the models. Now very few actually have one. So we have stopped many of our show videos. We will be making up for that in other areas! I hope this changes in the future.

Vampire Strippers Must Die the preview looks like a super fun movie. What made you do this fun film?

I’ve always loved dancing, and I’ve been a fan of vampire shows and always thought it would be fun to play one. So I figured what better opportunity to put my dance skills to use while getting to be a vampire. It sounded like a fun experience that I couldn’t pass up.

It’s been said it’s a Mix of Magic Mike meets Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Can you tell us about the movie?

I would definitely say that is a great way to explain it. You get the sex appeal from the stripping and dancing of course, but you also get the sexy dark side from the strippers being vampires. It adds a little bit of mystery to the characters. The combination is very sexy and makes you want to get to know the characters as they develop from scene to scene, and there is a lot of comedy as well.

What can you tell us of the Overnight Male Dance Troupe, and what we can expect from them?

You can expect a lot of great dance moves, witty remarks, and a few surprises.

What was it that made you take the role in the movie?

I wanted to be able to say that I’ve been a stripper and a vampire of course. I don’t think very many people can say they have been either.

Did your previous modeling experience help you get this role?

I would probably say yes. I have been able to express my personality and confidence in my past experiences, which is something that is portrayed strongly in my character Joey.

Can you tell us about your character in the movie?

I play Cowboy Joey. He is Canadian and all the ladies love him. He’s the best dancer and leaves everyone wanting more.

Do you have any hesitation being in underwear on the big screen as opposed to pictures?

I’m a very confident person. I’ve never been one to be shy or hesitant in my underwear. I’ve gotten so used to it while modeling. I think everything looks better on the big screen. 😉
