What made you jump from the office cube to make a men’s underwear line?
For many years I worked a typical corporate job where every minute was watched, and days were filled with seemingly endless meetings (why were there so many meetings?!). Although I loved a few of my coworkers, I was frustrated that I spent every waking minute working to achieve someone else’s dream whilst mine sat on the backburner. Those frustrations, mixed with a 2.5-hour commute (each way!), made me constantly daydream about starting my own company.
I had always been interested in underwear, and after a late-night chat with some friends about underwear, I made a joke about how my last name, Hunt, would look cool on a waistband. That conversation stayed in the back of my mind for over a year before I casually did some research to see if it was possible. That research made me even more excited about the possibility of creating an underwear company. So I set out to see if I could make a high-quality undergarment that could be offered to the consumer at an affordable price. Once I had a framework somewhat figured out, I decided to take the leap, quit my job, and start Hunt Underwear.
Before you started to make underwear, what did you look for in your underwear?
Before I started my brand, my underwear purchases revolved around the price, color, and fabric. Out of all of those, price usually took precedence. I always needed to stay within my budget, so basically, I wanted the best possible underwear at the lowest possible price — kind of the “champagne taste on a beer budget” mentality.
What inspired you to create this current collection?
This collection is what I’ve dubbed The Classic Collection. I wanted to make something classically sexy and sophisticated that wasn’t part of the fast fashion, super trendy world. It includes timeless pieces that buck trends and won’t go out of style. Think of it as a collection of elevated, luxurious basics.
What are the three important qualities your underwear line has?
Hunt Underwear focuses on comfortable/luxurious materials, affordability, and customer service. Materials are so important for an undergarment, and I handpicked everything for their softness, comfort level, and because they are high quality. This includes the elastic. I always hated when a rough elastic would rub my waist uncomfortably, so I made sure the elastic I use is incredibly comfortable.
I’ve also worked hard to offer this level of quality at a price people can actually afford. So many companies have a huge markup on inferior products, and I easily could be charging more for the high-quality underwear I’m producing. However, my customers deserve the best at an affordable price, so that’s what I aim to give them.
Since this business is currently a business of one (just me!), I give each customer extra attention and a personal connection to my brand. It’s important for me to spend time answering every email, comment on social media, or inquiry about my brand. I really strive to offer the best possible customer service. Think about it; when you contact any other brands, would you be able to talk directly to the owner? Most likely not.
We are always curious, but who is the HUNT underwear guy? Who do you see as your ideal customer?
My customers are guys who are starting to upgrade their underwear wardrobe because they take pride in what they put on their bodies. They’ve moved away from fast fashion and multipacks with rough, inferior fabrics. They value quality, comfort, and underwear that moves with them and retains its shape throughout the day. They know that they deserve to look and feel good no matter how much (or little) they are wearing.
You currently have navy and blue, which is smart to start your line with a few colors, but do you plan to introduce new colors in your next collection?
Absolutely. I purposefully started off with a limited product line because I didn’t want to bite off more than I could chew while I got my feet wet. However, I have plans to expand the current collection with additional colors and one or two additional styles. After those additions are added to The Classic Collection, I have a few other collections ready to go. These future collections pull inspiration from different decades and artistic viewpoints, all while staying true to the high level of comfort my customers deserve and expect.

Men’s underwear brand Walking Jack has just released a new set of photos from their Core and Graphic collections on Greek model and YouTuber, Kosmas Kaffes. Talented photographer Xanthos Georgiou captures the impressive physique of Kosmas on the beautiful island of Cyprus. Kosmas is wearing briefs from the Core and Graphic collections of the Greek brand. Nature and the great outdoors has been the inspiration of these designs, made to be enjoyed every day.

This year we have seen several big name singers pose in their undies. Shawn Mendes dropped trou for Calvin Klien. Now former boy band Liam Payne (of One Direction fame) did a shoot for Hugo Boss.
I think it’s great we are seeing entertainers doing underwear shoots for brands. It’s showing men’s underwear isn’t something we should shuffle off to the back pages of magazines. Although, Cosmopolitan’s headline was “Liam Payne just took part in a raunchy photo shoot.” WTF? How are these pics raunchy? The editor who came up with this needs to get out more and check out their own magazine.

If you are a long time reader of UNB, you should be familiar with Steve Grand. He is a singer who has always had great taste in underwear and swimwear. He’s not afraid to show off his love on his IG account. We also interviewed Steve about swim briefs a few years ago (Check out our interview)
Now he has launched his own underwear and swimwear line it’s called Grand Axis! Note, the swimwear will not be out till next year ( early 2020). His collection is a basics collection and only comes in three different styles. Those styles are the jock, brief and boxer brief. As we say about basics, they are a must for any underwear drawer! This means there are just a few colors (charcoal and white). This is a great decision for a new brand, he’s concentrating on a core collection and not trying to be everything to everyone! I expect we will have a lot more from him soon.
I like this collection. I think Steve has done a great job on this and can’t wait to see his new swimwear. This collection really does represent him and what he likes in underwear. From all the pics he posts, I believe he’s probably a pouch guy and loves if not requires a great pouch.

New undies for Christmas! I did, in fact, get some new undies for Christmas. Andrew Christian had their sale running over Black Friday, and I convinced my wife to get me several pairs as Christmas gifts. One of the pairs I received was the new Midnight Thong; this thong is luxurious and comfortable as all of AC’s Almost Naked line is. I would love to receive the brief and shirt, as well. I feel hard-pressed to justify spending the money on a shirt that I honestly would rarely wear. But the feeling of wearing velvet just hasn’t been something I’ve experienced in any other underwear I’ve ever owned, and I’d love to experience it more

Christmas is a great time for gear, and there are soooo many great things catching my eye this holiday season:
Skinfit is a newer brand and one of my new favorites. I need their thongs in every color available, and I also want some of the two-toned shorts, tights, and singlets. Their new Lollipop Collection is at the top of my list.
JOR is one of my favorites for jocks, but this season I am obsessed with their tights. These fit me perfectly and hug the butt nicely to show off the hard work at the gym. I really love the JOR 0926 York Athletic Pants Color Blue that I picked up from UNB Store.

They have several great jocks, thongs, and other gear. The G Spot harness and Body Thong are two that catch my eye both. I love supporting newer brands to the scene. It’s a great way to spread some holiday cheer!

What do I want for Christmas? HMMM there is so much! Can one ever have too many pairs of underwear? Swimwear? Or gear? My answer is a resounding no!
I want to get every color of the Ergowear X4D Bikinis. It’s no secret that I LOVE bikinis with an amazing pouch. The X4D is the newest pouch from Ergowear. It’s truly amazing!
Speaking of amazing pouches, I would love to get several of the Cocksox Pro line Sports Briefs. As you can tell, I’m all about the pouch and comfort. Any pair of Cocksox I own is always in my top underwear drawer. The new “basic” colors of the Pro line are perfect for everyday wear.
One pair that is amazing is the new Gregg Homme Gaelic brief. It’s a plaid/tartan print on a mesh brief. The fabric of this pair should be amazing! Gregg Homme knows how to use amazing fabric that fits you like a glove!
Last on my list is the AJ Sports Singlet. I LOVE singlets and have expanded my collection this past year. Go Softwear makes some of the best singlets on the market. One I haven’t bought is this singlet. It’s a fantastic design, and I think it is sexy as hell.
