Men’s Underwear

We got a chance to interview one of my favorite models DW Chase. We hope you enjoy it as well

Why did you want to get into modeling?

Assuming that means “why” did I get into modeling? Out of boredom honestly. I was a country boy from the backwoods of NC and started posting on Myspace before I started getting serious and getting legitimate offers to do professional photoshoots.

Why underwear/swimwear underwear/swimwear?

Being short, not particularly having a great face, I decided to focus more on my body and then my body hair, which lent itself to less clothing. I became very interested in wearing and promoting swimwear since I moved to an island after college. American’s seem to terrified of men wearing “speedos” or smaller, more comfortable swimwear, so I wanted to be apart of helping educate and making that more of a normal concept.

What do you think sets you apart from other models in the industry?

That I have never been with an agency. My degree is in mass communication and I’ve never understood why most models, or these Instagram stars, sign with agencies when they could book their own shoots and get their own stuff published online. It just takes the incentive to do so. I try to keep my work very updated, and always strive to push forward where a lot of these models you will see them get popular for a small period of time and then disappear.

What shoots have you done so far?(Which brands/photogs have you worked with?

At the moment of this interview, I have completed 112 shoots. I have been lucky and blessed enough to work with talented photographers from all over the globe. Ev Dylan, Calvin Brockington, David Wagner, those photographers really helped shape my image and modeling work early on. Recent photographers like Tyson Vick, Carlos Trey Salazar and Jeffery Beasley have helped push me into new territories of male modeling. I have worked with so many great brands like CA-RIO-CA, Manus, LASC, Mertailor, Marcuse, CharliebyMZ, Salem Alba, Mahjii, the list of swimwear goes on and on.

Underwear has many styles from boxer briefs to thongs. Do you have any pairs you don’t want to wear on a shoot?

I have worn some pretty outrageous stuff over the years, so no, I’ll model anything if the concept, vision, and circumstance is good.

We have seen you in a lot of swimwear shoots, why do you tend to do more swim shoots?

Because I live on an island, I am always in the sun, at the beach. My interest in travel is always somewhere with an ocean or body of water, so I always try to schedule or set up a photoshoot when I travel. Brands are always sending me items to include on photoshoots. It’s just where my interest is.

Are there any underwear/swimwear brands you’d love to work with? Why?

So many great ones I haven’t worn or modeled for yet. Aronik interests me, Ildes have great designs, but honestly, I love discovering new brands that maybe have not hit the mainstream yet. I am always looking to turn someone on to a new brand.

Which photographers would you love to work with on a project?

I want to work with Jorge Rivas again, I have reached out to photographer Menelik Puryear (HardCiderNY) numerous times, he is one of my favorite artists. I would also love the change to work with Paul Freeman and Hayden Su before I call it quits.

You are always posting pics of you in swim briefs on the beach. Have you ever been the only guy in them on the beach when everyone else was in shorts? If so how did you feel?

I find myself the ONLY guy on the beach many times, ha ha. I typically seek out secluded beaches where other people don’t frequent. I am not one for crowds. However, yes, many times, I am the only one in briefs. I wear them because they look better, fit better, are more comfortable, dry quicker and create a much better tan line.

Outside of modeling and working out what do you do in your down time? What are your hobbies and interests?

I have 5 jobs, I rarely have down town outside of work, modeling and fitness training. Whenever I do have free time I like to travel, skateboard, bike and just chill on the beach. I cook a lot too, prepare most of my meals.

What type of fitness regime do you do to keep in shape, and does it change when you do a shoot?

I maintain the same regime all year long, including diet. You won’t ever hear me saying “getting my body back”. I believe in consistency, I’m always ready for a shoot. I don’t take a break from healthy eating or regular workouts.

Models can’t always eat great what is your favorite guilty pleasure in food?

Sure they can, most just choose not to. The only pleasure food I allow myself is sweet tea. I forbid all other bad things from my diet and have for years. I prefer abs over food.

We are an underwear blog so what makes up your underwear drawer? (what percentage of briefs, boxer briefs, jocks, thongs do you have?)

My closet is all briefs. One of my favorite underwear brands right now is Skull & Bones, I did a shoot for them last year, and they are super comfortable.

What is one word that describes you?

conundrum

If you were stranded on a deserted island what is one thing you must have with you?

Logically a knife

What is your favorite color

Grey

What is a fact about you that would surprise our readers? (are you shy? Love disco? Know all the words to Star Wars?)

That my “DW Chase” persona is nothing like me. I don’t party, I don’t go out, I don’t drink alcohol, I don’t curse, and I am not sexually active.

I’ll admit that, despite my self-proclaimed underwear obsession, I’ve never tried a jock thong. I love jockstraps because of the support and how they make my butt look, and I love thongs because of the sex appeal, but I’ve never really understood putting them together. Obviously, there’s something that guys like about them because they’re quickly becoming one of the more popular styles. More and more brands are starting to include them in their collections, such as heavy hitters Andrew Christian, Jack Adams, and PPU.

There are several positives that intrigue me about jock thongs. Of course, they’re perfect for when you want something skimpy, but they also add the uniqueness factor because they’re still not as mainstream as briefs or jockstraps. I like to workout wearing jockstraps, and I know several of my fellow writers enjoy wearing thongs while hitting the gym, so the jock brief would obviously work well in that setting. In addition, it’s an easy solution for when you can’t decide between a jockstrap or a thong. Personally, I like both the strap between my legs and the straps under my butt cheeks, so this would give me both feelings.

Looking at brands that offer jock thongs, there are several things I noticed. The pair from Jack Adams, consistently one of my favorite brands, features a roomy pouch and a thinner thong strap, which makes it good for those who still aren’t completely sold on thongs. PPU has many different types of jock thongs that are mostly provocative and feature many different types of straps in the back, so there’s something for everyone’s tastes. Andrew Christian, a brand I’m sure most are familiar with, has numerous lines that have a jock thong available. In my opinion, I’m most excited about trying these because I’m sure they’re comfortable like other pairs from Andrew Christian and can be worn for any occasion.

Really jock thongs sound like you’re getting the best of both worlds when you wear them. Jockstraps are great for accentuating the rear end, while thongs are great for showing off your package. The jock thong combines these two and gives you the perfect amount of lift everywhere. Overall, the jock thong seems like an interesting hybrid that I’m excited to try in the future.

If you are anywhere in the States I swear it’s a freakin’ heatwave. From the West to the South East. Temperatures in Atlanta have been 90 degrees plus and with 80-90% humidity. It makes going outside miserable. Also, in the west such as AZ, NV and CA it’s been at or near record temperatures. It makes you want to wear the least amount of clothes possible.

However, many out there has a dress code for work. Meaning, it could be a uniform, suit or business casual. There is no way around it. You can wear underwear that will keep you cool throughout the day. There are several ways to choose the best underwear for a cool day!

The first is fabric. Unlike the old days, men’s underwear now comes in so many different fabrics. One of my all time favorites I love to wear in the summer is Modal. It’s lightweight, breathes and feels barely there. It is the “perfect” fabric for hot and humid weather. N2N Bodywear and Cocksox have created underwear out of the fabric and it’s in my summer underwear drawer. Unfortunately, the Cocksox Backstage isn’t made anymore but the briefs are ideal. I’m sure your favorite brand has modal in many pairs.

Another fabric to choose is mesh. I’m not talking the 100% see through but more of the sports mesh line. It’s a solid fabric with small holes in it. One current example is the Andrew Christian Blow Mesh Boxer. AC has always done mesh. While I know mesh is not for everyone but I think it’s something to consider!

The last way you can keep cool is by the cut of your underwear. Go with the dare to bare pairs. I”m talking thongs, jocks and anything skimpy. The less coverage the more airflow you will have down there. One thing I really hate is having to wear long boxer briefs on a hot day. It’s annoying AF. My wearing of jocks go up in the summer. One of my favorites is the Papi Premium Cotton Jock. It has a small waistband with matching leg straps.

We would love to hear some of your favorite summer underwear you wear. Leave a comment or let us know on social.

M-Wear furnished the Pride Thong for review. Opinions posted in this review is the author’s own opinions

  • Sizing: 9/10
  • Construction: 10/10
  • Styling: 10/10
  • Daily Performance: 9/10

  • Amazing fabric that felt great all day against my skin

  • Construction that is top notch

Cons:

  • You may not like if you’re not a thong guy
  • For me personally, the strap in the back could have been smaller.

UNB Tim recommendation: If you are looking to try a thong, I recommend M-Wear. If you love thongs I definitely recommend M-Wear for your thong drawer. One of the best thongs I ever wore. The rainbow print made me really happy. Matthew knows how to design amazing thongs.

Let me start this by saying I am not the biggest thong guy on UNB. Our resident thong guys are Bottom Drawer, UnderwearDude and The Thongged Ginger. Each of these guys wears them all the time. I wear them on occasion, but I’m not opposed to wearing them. I have a few in my collection.

M-Wear approached me about trying the Pride thong. I was excited because Matthew at M-Wear makes all the thongs himself. He does fittings and makes custom pieces as well. But, the thong I received is more of an off the rack rather than a custom job for me. Others out there have raved about the M-Wear thongs. I’m looking at you Spaceman (aka Sixfootfiveguy) and Eric Alden.

When I took these out of the envelope. I was a little nervous that it maybe too big. Now I”m a big guy but I didn’t think I was as big as this thong looked. Ok, either it wasn’t as big as I thought or I am that big. Because it fits spot on. The waist was perfect. It was not too tight or too loose. The string in the back was nice. It could have been smaller but that’s my personal taste. It never annoyed me throughout my wearing.

Let’s talk about the perfect part of this thong. The pouch. It’s freaking amazing. Hands down one of the top thong pouches I have ever worn. Just the way it fits and lifts your goods is amazing. It’s not the kind of enhancing pouch that will show off everything to everyone. But more of a supportive pouch that is perfect to wear in any instance. Work, hanging out, working out and anything else you can think of.

Not being a regular thong guy, I decided to wear this half the day. Some pairs I put in a “just in case” time that if it’s not going well I have an opportunity to take it off. This time, I will say, it got half a day but not because it annoyed me. It was worn out in the southern heat under shorts. Thongs are great for super humid and hot summer days. It gave me some airflow in my shorts. A few times while out doing errands. I wondered if anyone saw my thong above my shorts. If they did they got a show.

The fabric felt amazing in this pair. The print was, of course, a rainbow print to honor pride. Which is super fun. And don’t worry you don’t have to be gay to wear this pair. You can show your support for the LGBTQ community by wearing it. As much of a master of sewing Matthew is his eye for fabric and detail is top notch.

Sizing is one thing I didn’t have an issue with. Being an XL currently. (I would say I hope to go down, but I’ve been saying it for months.) Fit really well. Like I said above I thought it maybe too big but fits me really well. If you have questions on the thongs sizing make sure you ask Matthew. He will gladly help you out. And get you the perfect thong.

Being a not regular thong guy, this pair was one of the best thongs ever. The print was super fun and I loved how it made me feel while wearing it. It gave me a bit of a sexy feeling all day I was wearing it. It’s definitely in the top 5 if not top 3 thongs of all time in my book. Now I want to get a custom fit thong from M-Wear. I think that would be even better.

This might be a controversial opinion, but I think everyone is a little bi-curious subconsciously. Even though I consider myself straight and have a girlfriend, I know there is a small part of me that is curious about guys. I think that my interest in underwear is how that part of me is expressed.

Guys, though they might not admit it, are constantly thinking about their package. Size is something guys think about probably every day, and it’s usually in a context where they’re comparing themselves to other guys. An example of this would be worrying you aren’t going to measure up to a previous lover of your partner. This type of thing likely stems from bicuriosity on an unconscious level.

I think I first realized this aspect of me on a conscious level when I was walking down the underwear aisle at a store. I couldn’t help but stare at all of the different models on the boxes and their ripped physiques and stylish underwear. Most notably of all, my eyes went directly to the bulge. I think this phenomenon relates to other guys being curious about what other guys are packing, something that underwear marketers surely tap into when designing their boxes. For this reason, wanting to know how you compare to other guys is not gay, it’s human nature.

To reemphasize, though I wouldn’t necessarily want to have any type of relationship with a guy on an underwear box, I often find myself attracted to his underwear and bulge. I think it comes down to the mystery aspect of underwear. It hides what is underneath and leaves the rest to the imagination, which really can be quite alluring. I personally wouldn’t want to look at a naked guy, but a guy wearing underwear is completely different for that reason. It allows you to think about how you compare without actually seeing someone’s package.

I’ve been much happier since I’ve embraced this side of me, not worrying about if looking at a bulge or wearing a particular type of underwear is going to make me gay. It’s okay to be curious. It’s even better if you find a positive thing to channel that part of you into instead of suppressing it. The moral of the story is to not worry about what others think, be confident in your sexuality, and pursue what makes you happy.

Thongs 101: Where to go from here

You’ve finally bought your first thong or maybe you have a few now. It’s underwear you decided is a good addition to your wardrobe. So what is your next move?

First off, keep wearing them. I’ve talked to guys who keep wrestling with wearing them, because of social norms. Ignore people that talk negatively about them and say they aren’t for guys. Don’t let stereotypes get in your way. Be confident with your choice and don’t allow other people’s views deter you from wearing them. Remember it is just underwear and very few people are going to be seeing you in them.

Experiment with different styles. There are lots of variations out there. We covered what we felt were the main ones in our Thongs 101: What Are The Styles Of Thongs. Brands are always trying to come up with something a bit different from the competitions. Things like double or multi strap waistbands, cut outs in different places, various pouches, different types of waistbands, etc. There is surprisingly quite a variety out there for us guys.

Go ahead and test out other fabric options. Once you’ve been wearing thongs for a while, some fabrics you think may not be comfortable or weren’t comfortable become comfortable. Try some of the more erotic fabrics such as mesh, lace, leather, etc.

Really the main thing to do is just enjoy wearing your thongs and have fun experimenting. Don’t hide them from your significant other or future one. They’re not something to be ashamed of. They’re a great option for us guys and we deserve to feel sexy as much as the ladies. Keep rockin’ the thongs!

We’re thinking about doing a Thongs 201 series. Would that interest you? What things would you like us to discuss. Let us know in the comments or use the contact us page to get in touch.

Popular Aussie underwear brand 2wink Australia are spicing up their underwear range by adding a new design of briefs to its collection, entitled “BULGE”. The new range sparkle with the help of a metallic waistband with brand name 2wink embroidered in black.

Let’s face it, us guys like to think we have a decent looking bulge when wearing our underwear. The sex appeal in these new briefs is in the design which focuses around the front pouch. It protrudes everything within its grip maximizing the look whilst the cotton/spandex fabric provide the super comfy feel.

2wink added some dazzle by including a metallic waistband that sparkles when captured by light. Adding a sexy look is the small amount of material on the sides, leaving room to expose the thighs.

The Bulge title is well suited to the style of briefs, sex appeal is captured in every angle and certainly designed to attract attention. “We wanted a design for guys to look sexy and for them to show off their body,” says 2wink Australia co-owner Damian Greco.

Each brief retails for around $14.95 AUD (free worldwide shipping included), and are available exclusively online at www.2wink.com.au.

It’s Swimwear Sunday! And the Sunday before the 4th of July in the States. I figured we needed something fun and patriotic. Who makes super fun swimwear? N2N Bodywear of course! One of the new lines is the USA line. It’s a set of swim briefs in patriotic prints. A mix of stars and stripes!

We could have chosen a smaller pair but we wanted one more guys would wear so we settled on the USA Sport. Which is a full sized brief. The pair is also in a bikini, string bikini and trunk. For those who want to dare to bare the String Bikini is for you. If you want to go bigger then go with the Trunk.

We mentioned that this is a full sized brief. The sides are 2.5 inches, which is bigger than most swim briefs. It’s perfect for the guy who wants to sport a brief but not show off everything. This pair also has a full back. In swimwear, most guys prefer a full back as opposed to a 3/4 or 1/2 back. To me it’s just more comfortable. On top of that it has a draw string to ensure it stays in place and won’t fall off coming out of the water. Lastly, it’s made out of a 83% nylon 17% spandex blend.

This pair is unlined as well. I don’t think you will show off everything due to this feature. Some pairs are super thin and leaves little to the imagination. During our swim guide shoot this pair didn’t show off everything of Martin’s. But, lined or unlined, is up to to the wearer as to what they are comfrotable wearing.

If you love this pair you can find it on the N2N Bodywear site. It retails for $36 but is on sale for the 4th of July sale. Note by the time you read this it could be off sale. Make sure you go to the N2N Bodywear site to see the entire USA collection.

ES Collection closed the Barcelona Fashion Week with a catwalk presenting its SS 18 swimwear collection on Friday 30th June. The collection’s name is Tropik Glitch. The catalan brand proposes a collection that draws its inspiration from the exuberance of the Amazon Forest, full of life and colours. The explosion of the senses obtained by this collection is rendered by the intensity of the colours used. “Glitch” is a kind of « error » or visual blur that gives a digital appearance to the prints. The result of this new technique of artistic expression is a very modern vision of tropical prints.

Thanks to Studio Retail for sharing these pics with us!

I”m running a bit behind on reporting the results. Coming down with Bronchitis for about two months made me not want to touch Excel to do the tabulations. There is still much more to do but here are the initial results. I hope you’re ready for an amazing slide show of graphs! Graphs are super exciting and sexy… NOT. But here is your peek in the other readers underwear drawers.

Most guys have 20-70 pairs in their collections. Which makes up about 50% of our readers. However, we have 21% who have 150 pairs or more. This number shows we have some underwear super fans!

How often do you guys buy underwear? The results are much of what I expected. It’s every few weeks to months almost ties every few months. Very few of you guys buy weekly.

How do you buy Underwear? Do you buy it on sale, at regular price? We are curious. Most of you buy a mix of on sale and at regular price. That’s the way I buy it. If it’s a pair or brand I really want or like. I will pay full price. Sales are important to you guys but not the only factor.

What is your favorite style to wear? This year we gave you a few options to choose from. Again the briefs and bikinis rank as the top two pairs. However, thongs have come up big this year and is a close third. If this keeps up they will overtake bikinis. Also, Jocks were high on the list. It surprised me it was so high.

What do you wear on a regular basis? This is what do you wear and what’s in your collection. It almost mirrors the one above. The boxer brief is higher in this than favorite styles. But Briefs still are the top style.

Do you wear more than one pair a day? 44% of you guys said you do. We will be talking more about this in a future post. We asked why you do or do not wear more than one pair a day.

Who Influences your buying decisions? I’m happy to see Underwear blogs. We try to expose you to new brands and styles. But Brands from emails and significant other rounds our the top 3. I’m a little surprised that reviews didn’t rank higher.

Has UNB influenced your buying decisions? This is something we have heard anecdotally but not directly from readers at large. It was great to see that 75% of you said we influence what you buy. We will go into more detail soon and hope to keep influencing you guys.

Where do you buy your underwear? We changed up this question this year. Instead of asking you on a scale we just wanted to know which you shop. Most of you shop online via an online store or brand site. They were by in large the two biggers. Also you guys like discount sites like Cheapundies. The department store number was higher than I remember. But you can get some good undies there.

Have you ever worn a swim brief? You guys really are taking the UNB Swim Brief Challenge. The number is going up. More of you say you wear them all the time. Also, more say you wear them at private pools. And coming in third were guys who want to wear them. We are going to continue this and share great swimwear with you.

What swimwear do you wear? Most of you wear trunks and shorts. While over 1/4 wear swim briefs. We are glad only 19% wear board shorts. We are accomplishing out goal. Also, more are wearing swim thongs.

What type of models do you want to see. Most want to see a mix of real, up and coming and professional odels. While a big group want to see real guys. We are working on that more and more. This has remained unchanged in the last few years.

What challenges do you face loving undies? This is changing more are reporting none. It seems slowly the world of men’s underewar is becoming something that is normal.

Lastly, what fetishwear do you guys like? Most like spandex and singlets, followed by leather and Lingerie or lace. We will cover these more this year. But we want to hear from you guys when we do!

Here are the overall results. We hope you enjoy this look at your fellow UNB’ers underwear drawer.

Before I get started with the post here is the info about this video:

At Broadway Bares 2017, a shirts-versus-skins lacrosse scrimmage heated up the stage when Anastasia‘s Kyle Brown coached a crew of sweaty, muscled men. Ericka Hunter and Katie Webber gave the game co-ed flair as they strutted and stripped their protective gear in the athletic number. “Scrimmage” was choreographed by Charlie Sutton.

Produced by and benefiting Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, Broadway Bares: Strip U raised $1,568,114 in two performances on June 18, 2017 at New York City’s Hammerstein Ballroom. Broadway Bares: Strip U was directed by Nick Kenkel, who also created the Strip U concept.

Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS is one of the nation’s leading industry-based, nonprofit AIDS fundraising and grant-making organizations. By drawing upon the talents, resources, and generosity of the American theatre community, since 1988 BC/EFA has raised more than $285 million for essential services for people with AIDS and other critical illnesses across the United States.

I have been following Broadway Bares for a few years. BB for short, is a show where broadway actors/dancers put on to raise money for AIDS/HIV charities. As the name suggests the stars get naked by the end. But before they do they usually strip down to a jock or thong.

The reason I like it is, the show is just fun. It’s sexy and it shows how underwear in a good light. It shows that thongs and jocks are sexy and should be worn. I think if we had more shows that do this we would have greater acceptance in underwear in general across the general public. This is just my opinion. And great job this year to Broadway Bares!

If you like the video go to the Broadway Bares YouTube channel to see more videos from this year or previous years.

Thongs 101: Where to Buy?We’ve covered styles, tips for buying, and fabrics to look for with a thong. Now that you have some guidence of what to look for in a thong, it’s time to go shopping. Where to shop you ask? Most of us only have one option for this which is the Internet. Guess there is still some mail ordering available, but by now they have their own websites too. If you are lucky you could have a men’s underwear store within driving distance.

If you are close enough to a men’s underwear store then that would be the ideal place to shop for a thong. Being able to physically see the thong will help you with the decision. You can feel how soft the fabric is, compare thongs to each other, see the width and thickness of the tail. Another bonus is you’ll have a salesperson that knows underwear if you have any questions.

With online shopping it is going to be more researching. You’ll read product description, fabric content, and product reviews on retailers’ websites. Then you also should look for third party reviews to gather more information. Look for what they say about fit, comfort, fabric softness. See if they barely notice they’re wearing a thong when wearing the pair. Use all the information you can gather to help make the decision.
