Okay for a season that saw many ups and downs I was not sad to go out with that second half against the Panthers that we had. If there is a team that can take you completely by surprise it is my Seattle Seahawks. Now for the first time in three seasons we will not be in the Super Bowl, a sad but true statement.
Now generally I am not a very superstitious person. I’ve stepped on many cracks and my grandmother’s back is completely fine. That’s how it goes right? BUT I do have my lucky pair of underwear for Seahawk games. It all started four seasons ago and has continued ever since. Attempts to wear a similar pair have ended in heartbreak.
For me there are certain requirements that a lucky pair of underwear has to meet for sports teams:
So bam. Those three requirements in mind my lucky pair for the last four seasons has been my green Diesel jockstrap. It’s fairly simple as far as design goes but it holds up very well. The straps still give my bum a lift and that’s after lots of washes. Green, blue and grey all play parts for the Seahawks. The year that I started with this pair our big accent color was lime green and it just made sense.
Like I mentioned, attempts to switch this pair with others like it (Blue Diesel Jockstrap I’m talking about you) have not gone well. Seriously, terrible games…WHY 4th Quarter WHY?!?! So even on disappointing outcomes I know it would have been worse if I were not wearing my lucky jockstrap. So if you’re a Broncho fan or a Panthers supporter make sure to don your lucky pair this Sunday.

They come in different designs and companies are become very creative! Every year when I think I have seen it all in jocks, someone releases a new take on the classic design. Time for another jock review! I have a couple items from FT that I like so I was optimistic. Fort Troff tends to like a hyper-masculine look so the camo print and large waistband weren’t a surprise. However the soft, perforated fabric was. These are made of 84% polyester and 16% spandex. All 3 versions have the same gray camouflage print but the stitching and trim. Colors that are available in red, blue and gray. A boxer brief, boxer jock and trunk are also available. (Fort Troff furnished this pair for review)
I wore these on a run which is when I would typically wear a jock even though most guys might use this for “fun”. This jock was really comfortable so it would work for guys who like a jock as underwear, too. The waist and leg bands are pretty thick so you are definitely aware that you’re wearing a jock.
The sizing lists a medium as fitting a 30-31, which is me, and it’s dead on. Nice and snug without being too tight. The pouch has a good amount of stretch so if you’re on the larger end of the size range, you should still be OK. I would follow your typical, American sizing for this pair.
What I liked most about this pair was that they actually held up as a jock! I have several jockstraps that are definitely just for play or as daily underwear. When I exercise, I sweat a lot and like everything up front to be nice and snug. Some guys might disagree, but too much bouncing on a run is not cute. I really didn’t have any issues with this jock other than some minor adjustments to the leg straps. But that happens with every pair I own so I won’t hold that against them. Camouflage isn’t really my thing but I still liked the style. Different colors/patterns would make me definitely get another pair. They sell as a pack of three along with a bonus cocking for $40. Seriously.
Overall, this was a good, solid jock and made me think I should try more in the future. I will definitely consider Fort Troff more than I did in the past. I had considered them for fetish wear or a store for gear, which is hot, but not always practical. My fetish for brief/jock lines through shorts was also well satisfied with the thick leg straps through my white running shorts. 🙂

I’m going to start this article like some would start a cheesy wedding speech and define the word classic. The word classic is “used to say that something has come to be considered one of the best of its kind.” Simply “something that has been popular for a long time”. When it comes to men’s underwear fashion, there has definitely been one tried and true “classic” style in every sense of the word. The jockey brief, who just celebrated its 81st birthday has remained the go to underwear option for many men for many years. With good reason too. The basic brief covers all the fundamental functionality of underwear. But over the years there have been some many great upgrades to this style that will help cement it as a classic option for years to come.
First off let me mention this is one of my favorite styles of underwear. It has always been a display of simple almost humble masculinity to me. Subtle yet sexy. Simple but functional. My drawer has always been full of basic designer briefs. I can’t really think of an outfit where a basic brief couldn’t be an option. I to have had to get with the times and retire some of my favorites to make room for these modern classics.
In the last 81 years there have been some vast changes to men’s fashion. Some great technological/scientific advances that have changed the brief in many ways. With the introduction of the low-rise pant, the low-rise brief was soon to follow. This cut will sit just below your natural waist and the combination will help keep your undies hidden. They have also introduced enhancing technology, whether it be in the rear or front. Also, science has proven its important to keep your berries cool, and non-restricted. This revelation has often led designers to ditch the traditional y-front for a front seam or pouch. Here are some examples of brands paving the way for this classic style.
The Wood Hip Brief is a perfect example of a classic style but chock full of all the goodies listed above. They are becoming one of my favorite brands for their simplistic attitude. This particular brief is cut high to show more thigh which helps mask brief lines in a suit or slacks. Plus, the rear is tapered to give you butt a nice fit look. Here they decided to ditch the y-front for a total flat front with no seem. Which allows your boys to sit comfortably. The fabric is made from a tree cellulose that is super breathable. Actually has some subtle moisture wicking properties. These modern classics were meant to be worn all day! The waistband is combed to feel extra soft and bears their name in an understated gold off to the side. Almost all of their colors bear a white waistband helping further that classic vibe. This brief is available from the Wood website for $20.
The Classic Cotton Pouch Brief from N2N is another example of a classic that has had a modern facelift. These briefs are handmade in Los Angeles, and are one of the softest briefs I have ever felt. These are made from mostly cotton with just a bit of spandex to help contour the body and lift the butt. This is going to feel like more of a classic brief. Another hip cut, this will help stay hidden throughout the day. My favorite part of these briefs is the Nhance pouch. This is one of the most visually appealing and comfortable pouches I own. Unlike most, it offers a very open pouch that provides a more natural mobility. That combined with the extreme softness, I find myself grabbing these out of the drawer often. These bad boys are available on the N2N website for $19.
It’s hard to poignantly describe the Clever classic brief when they have done so well on their website. “Basic, but don’t ever call it plain”, a great mantra for modern classics to date. Clever 5219 Classic Brief features another cotton/spandex blend. That’s made to stay cool and comfy all day. For the simple soul, these could completely replace your daily underwear drawer. Hip cut with a sexy contouring design. Once gain, this cut helps give the rear that tight fit look. The simple front seem front makes for a simple roomy pouch. Nothing too crazy in design that helps make this an easy transition for the classic lover stuck in his ways. This is a perfect example of a classic style that has been upgraded in all the right ways. This brief is available on the Clever website for $27.
I could list a thousand great examples. Between the new styles and technology, there’s no reason not to upgrade to some modern classics. I guarantee you’ll notice a huge difference! The men’s underwear market is ever evolving but some styles never change. They just need little updates here and there. It’s nice to know that there is a market out there that loves the classics like I do. This will always be one of my favorite styles. I didn’t know Cocksox was releasing a new pair. I am on their email list (same one as you guys). I read mesh and thought, oh they updated the mesh line. Then upon opening it, I was like “This is no update, its new stuff!” I loved the look and design of these so much. It was sexy without being over the top. Cocksox has really grown as a brand. This year is going to be their 10th anniversary. It’s hard to believe they have been around this long! They originally started small and have grown every year. The new mesh pairs, while sexy, are still very classic to me. Meaning it’s not totally over the top. As I say there is a time and place for everything, but this I could see under a Tux to an event. Classic on the outside but something classic fun under.

UNB Josh – Valentine’s Day has always been an excuse for me to break out a new pair of underwear. This year, I’m going with Joe Snyder. UNB Tim: If you’re like me you’ll be spending Valentine’s day, Valentine’sless. Which isn’t a bad thing at all! It just means it’s another day to wear some amazing underwear! My pick for this year is the Gregg Homme Speed Briefs. These are great for wearing solo or for your significant other. If you are going out on a date, the Speed briefs are made for a date night. Just enough mesh to show off and just enough coverage to leave some things to the imagination. As they say it’s business in the front and party in the back! Its just super sexy to me. Undies Rock – It’s a given, Valentine’s Day is an intimate holiday. I know you’re thinking “It’s a BS Hallmark holiday,” and yes, but hey, if you’re gonna throw down on some chocolates and flowers, you might as well take it to the top with some sexy undies that will make your significant other drool over you. I like to think of Valentine’s Day as the “gateway drug” of holidays for undie gift giving/receiving, so if you’re looking to spice this Valentine’s day up, this is the time.
What gets me excited about the holiday is that I know my girlfriend and I will strut around in a special pair of sexy undies specifically centered on our plans for a romantic night. Though this may not be an everyday pair, it’s definitely perfect for a romantic night of partner-appreciation.
Let’s face it, if you haven’t gone out of your way to impress your bae by gifting or sporting a pair of dope undies, then you need to get on that ASAP (you will thank me later). Let Valentine’s Day 2016 be the day that you sport that saucy pair of rave-worthy undies and everything else will fall in place from there.
The Bottom Drawer – Thinking of the underwear I’ll choose for Valentine’s Day, I figured first place to start would be color. My wife always comments if I don’t coordinate my underwear with the holiday or occasion. Then with it being a romantic holiday, the next logical thing to look for is a pair with some sex appeal. So with those two things in mind, I went to the underwear drawer to see my options (basically bikini or thong). In the end I’m planning on my red Blueline T-Back Thong (I consider it a V-String). To me a thong has great sex appeal and also makes one feel sexy, which are two good qualities for the day. The fabric just allows the thong to mold to you, which of course accentuates the package. Then with the string sides and the string and triangle piece of fabric in the back it shows off the legs and the buttock. Only large retailer I’ve seen this thong for sale on is Freshpair for $8, which is a great price for a thong and one of the best I’ve seen this one advertised!

I know I’m known as one of the thong guys on UNB. When it comes to underwear, there are really three main styles I wear: thongs, jockstraps and briefs. I never know day to day which style I am going to be in the mood for, so I like to have a wide assortment of all kinds. That’s why even as a verified thong lover, I was happy to order a new pair of briefs from a brand I adore: AussieBum. It’s been a long time since I wore one of their classic original styles. The light pink classic original briefs were one of the first pairs of underwear I really enjoyed wearing on a daily basis. At least when I first started realizing how much I truly enjoyed underwear. Needless to say, the pink briefs are no longer with us, so I was happy to order a new pair, this time in purple.
I often complain there aren’t enough brands making underwear in purple. It’s my favorite color. One that I think I look best in. Sometimes purple is more slimming and sexy than black! And these AussieBum classic original briefs aren’t just any purple. They are a very deep royal purple. Truly the kind of purple you’d want your underwear to be. Just opening the package made me excited to wear them.
I am generally a medium in most brands, so I ordered medium in these briefs. They are a perfect fit for me. Sometimes depending on the style or fabric, AussieBum sizes don’t always run true. For the most part, they are fairly spot-on. I wore them around on Christmas Eve, so there was actually a lot of movement and travel to get a good feel for them. Throughout the day, everything was kept in place, and the briefs were very comfortable to have on. Anymore, I prefer a pouch that bulges in all the right places. These briefs are a standard pouch, so you don’t get any lift. That doesn’t really matter when it comes to AussieBum classic original briefs. They are just comfortable and a good every day pair. They are sexy, too. The cut is low rise and features a flap on the pouch, but it’s not really a functional pouch – it’s more for looks. The briefs also hug around the back. If you like showing off your backside, these will do it very well. A comfortable option without wearing something that’s really going to dig into you while it lifts.
The briefs are ribbed, so if that’s aesthetically pleasing to you. It’s a definite positive because they are a really good rib. If purple isn’t for you, there are many other colors to choose from. All of them are vibrant and strongly dyed, so you are getting a true color. It’s one of the cases where the colors you see online aren’t photoshopped that much. You are ordering what you see.
There are plenty of standard everyday briefs out there, but AussieBum stands above the pack thanks to their color choices, comfortable fabrics and cuts. The classic original briefs are something that should be in your drawer.

I was thrilled to try out and review the Nukleus Maldiva Micro for two reasons (furnished by Underwear Concept). First, I had never heard of this brand and love to find new underwear. Second, the bikini cut looked right up my alley. This brief is part of their Sea Series (Rebirth Collection). It comes in light blue, purple and navy as well as the white . Which is the pair I was going to wear. I decided to check them out online to learn a bit more. I found that Nukleus is all about sustainability and being environmentally friendly. They use organic cotton, bamboo and believe in safe, clean work environments for their workers. As well as fair pay for the farmers where their materials come from. Visit their website to read more on their values and practices. It’s a huge part of who they are as a brand and it definitely put me into a positive mindset before I even put these undies on!
I chose to wear these on a lazy Sunday hanging around the house and then out to dinner. They didn’t seem like a pair I would wear for exercise. I can be a creature of habit when it comes to choosing underwear for a long work day so weekends are my review time of choice. After wearing them, I found they would be great as a daily pair or lounging
– I even wore them to bed.
Being a company based in Asia, I figured the large I was sent would fit since their sizes tend to run small – sometimes very small. The large says it will fit 34-36 and I’m generally a 31-32, which according to their site, would be a medium. I always wash my clothes before I wear them and I expected them to shrink a bit but they remained pretty much the same. I was surprised to find that their sizing matched American sizes pretty well. A medium would have fit me just fine. The
cut is great in front and was supportive but not tight. The back is where I had a small issue because I don’t have much of a butt. The cut was a bit big and definitely gave more room than needed. It bothers me when the elastic goes down onto my thigh instead of right under my butt to give it a lift.
You can see that in the picture, which I was hesitant to post because I don’t like it. But I thought I should share since it’s a real life view of these briefs.
I loved a few things about the Nukleus Maldiva Micro : The bikini cut (in front) was perfect for me – not too big and not too small. The fabric is terrific (95% organic bamboo + 5% Spandex) and very soft and I like their strong identity
as a company. I’m far from a hippy or someone who is really “green” but I liked their thoughtful and caring approach to their apparel. My only real problem was the fit in back but it definitely didn’t affect the comfort level – just the styling.
I would definitely try more items from Nukleus and maybe go down a size to see if that remedies the fit. I like the colors and styles in their other series, as well. Some named after the elements and others after fruit!

Think about history and all of the events that shaped the world we live in today. Now think about what could have happened had something shifted to reverse the way those events played out. What if the British had defeated the Americans when Americans wanted independence? What if Rue McClanahan had actually played Rose and Betty White played Blanche as Golden Girls producers originally intended? And what if the thong had taken place of the jockstrap?
In the past ten years, jockstraps have quickly found a place in the wardrobe of men all over the world. Jockstraps aren’t just for sports anymore. There are tons of fashion forward jockstraps from brands everywhere that take inspiration from the original white sport jockstrap and run with it. There are jockstraps for every day wear, gym wear, fetish wear. If you have an event, there’s probably a jock for it. But think just for a second what if thongs had become popular instead of jockstraps.
The way you play sports or hit the gym would be inevitably different. Instead of putting on a jockstrap to take the court or gym floor, you’d be putting on a thong. Which wouldn’t be such a bad thing. Thongs offer just as much, if not more, support than a jockstrap and do a really good job keeping everything in place. They give a good lift and help to make sure everything stays anatomically correct, which if you believe scientific reports, is something important in your daily underwear.
If thongs had taken off instead of jockstraps, you’d also be saving a lot of space in your underwear drawer. Not that either type of underwear takes up a huge amount of space, but think about it: thongs don’t require that much fabric, where as jockstraps generally have larger pouches and two straps as opposed to the single strap of a thong. Thongs don’t take up much room at all, which save a lot more room for the rest of your clothes.
And finally, if thongs were more popular than jockstraps, a lot of men might feel freer. A jockstrap isn’t necessarily constricting, but there’s something about wearing a thong that makes me feel more liberated, and I’ve heard this from other thongs wearers, too. There’s just something about knowing you have on extremely comfortable and sexy underwear while most guys are going around in briefs or boxer briefs. Thongs have sex appeal, but they are also not very constricting and allow for maximum breathing room.
I’m not saying thongs will ever become more popular than jockstraps as each have their place in the underwear world, but it’s nice to think about what could have happened had thongs taken the place of jockstraps in pop culture and men’s wardrobes.
