New Brand Hawai Original Underwear

4964-blackAre you looking for a new brand of underwear that is fashionable, classic and fun? You maybe asking is there such a thing that is classic and fun? I say yes there is! That brand is Hawai Original Underwear. It’s a line of boxer briefs in really great colors, cuts and styles.

The line is not your boring every day boxer briefs. You won’t find this underwear at your local big box store. They mix things up by using different styles (long & reg boxer briefs with 1 brief style). The next thing I like is the great colors that you don’t find in many underwear collections. They use blues, corals and grays in their solids and fun patterns. Lastly is the the use of mesh fabrics to create something fun.  Certain pairs are all mesh (except the pouch) or mesh panels. The full sports mesh styles that I wish I could fit in. The legs are mesh and the pouch is solid. This cut is prob my favorite and the main pic here!

I am not the best person on Twitter. I have a few accounts I have to keep up with so I”m not always on, I’m trying to be better for UNB! I ran across Helux Gear on Twitter. I looked at their site and they are doing something new in the world of mens underwear. They have a pouch that is made like a double helix. Yup the pouch sort of wraps around to form a fly in the pouch

When I first saw this on their site it looked like it could be really cool or come off bad. So when they offered to send me some I jumped at the chance. I got to give these a test run and was super excited. The package came and it has three pairs in it! The first pair I will review is Brief.

I will say I loved the light blue color. It’s almost a sky blue in color. The pair put me in a really good mood! I slid it on and at first I was like. HUH? Its not a pouch I was accustomed too. It seemed to be a little lower. But with that said, when i talked to them they said the first batch didn’t have the exact pouch they wanted. So I kept that in mind when I put them on.

After a second I figured out to adjust myself in them and they fit pretty well. Granted I still felt a bit wonky in them, but I made me wonder if the day went on would it hold up.

The pouch, as many of you know is the most important factor for me. It can make a or break a far for me. So when you create a new pouch I am instantly interested and hope it lives up. After I got positioned in them and noticed it was a bit lower than i normally like. It didn’t constrict or bind me like I thought it may but felt like a normal pouch. As the day went on, I didn’t notice it was any different.

The pouch also is very functional. I know we have many readers who hate a fly in underwear. So when I got home I had to see how it worked. The fly is held in place by elastic. It’s not binding or cut off any circulation. I pulled the elastic on the pouch to the side and it was easier than most fly to use. I put it back in place and hoped it would go back in place. A little adjustment  was needed but it held everything in place. I really like the new innovative design.

The sizing was pretty good. I wear a size 38 was it right now and the large in the brand run 36-38. It’s pretty standard sizing as you would expect. The fit was pretty good to me so I doubt you will have issues with sizing if you get a pair. The waistband fit great and other than the pouch feeling wonky to begin with, it was a great pair that held up pretty well throughout the day.

Cons:

  • Some guys may not like the pouch, it’s different
  • Only available in a two colors.

What Type of Underwear Guy are You?

cx76ST_ahoyI had a reader (who shall be nameless for now) email me and he told me that he tried new underwear. While this may not be ground breaking news for many of you, but there are tons of guys out there who stick to just one style. A reader reaching out me made me super excited that we exposed a guy to some undies and he took a chance on it. They could be big boxer briefs, briefs or jock fans. They rarely try things outside of their styles.

I am the kind of guy I like a little of everything. I have underwear from thongs/g-strings to long boxer briefs. Also I have everything in between. I have not always been so open. My teens and till probably my early 30’s I wouldn’t venture outside of briefs. But once I did I didn’t look back.

So what makes you guys try something new? I think it depends on which type of underwear guy you are.

Which type of underwear guy are you?

Tried and True – You have a style and you stick to it. You know what you like and like what you know. You don’t venture out to other styles. When you go shopping you know what styles and brands you like

Dabbler – You have a main pair you like but you’re not opposed to trying something new when it strikes your eye. When you go shopping you look at your favorite style but will browse other sections and occasionally buy something outside your fav style.

Equal Opportunity Underwear wearer – You have a massive collection of everything. Your daily mood determines your underwear. When you go shopping you check out everything and could buy any style.

The Experimenter – The experimenter is one who wants the newest designs. You don’t want plain and boring and are always on the cutting edge of underwear. You want things your friends don’t have. When you go shopping you leave the boring stuff and try to find the newest colors, styles and there is on telling which you will buy

I would say I’m more of an Equal Opportunity Underwear Wearer. I am open to to any style while I prefer briefs but I won’t rule a pair out, I even have a pair of boxers I like. Let us know what type of guy you are!

Style Brief – Pistol Pete Avalon Brief

Pistol Pete is one of those brands that has their very own style. When you think about it, when you see a pair of Pistol Pete you almost instinctively know that its a pair of PP! This is a good thing in the world of underwear. We always want something that stands out and is different. I think we have very few readers, gay or straight, who don’t want something super fun and something our friends don’t have!

Pistol Pete has released a new line over the last few months and the first pair we are going to profile is the Avalon Brief. I choose this one because of the cut out and the mesh. You guys really love mesh! It amazes me when I find out how much some of you love it. I’m more of a hit or miss with it but this pair I love what Pistol Pete did with the fabric.

The fabric is a mesh with has solid stripes mixed in the pattern. This could have been a fabric they ran as is but they took time to make a chevron with the pouch in front. The stripes will accent your bulge in front and with the trim around the pouch it will def draw attention to the assets. Speaking of assets the back looks great because you can see the stripes in the back! It’s super hot.

This pair is made to be seen. Why would you want to wear a pair like this and not show it off to someone! However, I could picture Wall Street guys wearing this under their suits. I think underwear is a way we can express ourselves in environments where we don’t have much say in what we have to wear to work!

The Waistband is another thing I love. I am a waistband guy and always have been. The Pistol Pete logo on the front and the different squares really is super fun. The blue and black just add something to this pair.  You can get this pair in black, blue or white from the Pistol Pete site for $26.50

Underwear and SoCal Gay Prides

IMG_0428Well it’s that time of year, Gay Pride in almost every major city in the U.S.A. And also a great chance to see new underwear vendors and suppliers and the opportunity to get some great deals on underwear.

My first Pride of the year was the Long Beach Gay pride festival in Long Beach, California. The highlight of my day was going to the N2N booth and getting some great underwear, loungewear, singlets and running pants for amazing deals. As I was shopping I turned and there was Andrew, the owner, smiling and talking to people and being just an awesome guy.

I always enjoy meeting underwear designers and Andrew (N2N Bodywear) is one of the sweetest. He gives great hugs, (I’m a hugger) and will always make time to visit with people.

Also at Long Beach pride was Go Softwear. The people working the booth were super friendly and a lot of fun to talk to. They hade a huge selection at great prices. I stocked up on some of my favorite briefs while I was there.

Next was West Hollywood’s gay pride. I always love to learn about new companies and a new one to me was Interview. They have fun and sexy briefs and trunks and the prices were great. I of course chatted with them about underwear and found them to be informative and very friendly.

I am not sure what other prides I will attend but you can bet I will be looking for the underwear.

Style Brief – Timoteo Proton Glow Booty Thong

That is because they really aren’t my go to pair, its not that I don’t like them, but just not everyday wear. I usually wear them for special occasion (such as a date, anniversary or such) or if I want something different that day. We have Kyle who LOVES them and we’re going to get him on it to profile whats new and best in thongs.

Timoteo is known for their great undies but you don’t think of thongs form them. Yes, you think of briefs, jock briefs, jocks and more fetishwear but thongs are not top of mind. That doesn’t mean they aren’t good at making them! One of the most recent lines they have created was the Proton line.

The Proton line was released this past Spring. The first thing that struck me was the really bright fun waistband. I am a waistband guy. I love them and love seeing new things. I hate when companies use the same waistband for everything. Timoteo is known for doing really great and fun waistband. This one I couldn’t keep my eyes off them. They have the Timoteo Sport in bright florescent lettering with same lines around the waist. Super fun.

The pair is made out of a 54% Rayon 40% Polyester and 6% Spandex blend . So it will be body hugging and fit you very well. The pouch as you can see should be able to hold the most endowed guy and hopefully be comfy all day.

UNBTMG’s Favorite Pair – 2(X)ist Speed Brief

2xistSpeedBriefWhiteAs a collector of underwear my “favorite” pair changes almost as often as I actually change underwear. But I have a new fave that’s held the top spot for a couple months now and I want to tell you about them.

My current favorite underwear is the 2Xist Speed no show brief. Now I like all cuts and styles of underwear, but the Speed are really unique. The nylon spandex combination stretches and gives in all the right places yet still offers support where it’s needed.

The feel of the material is soft and sensual but stands up after repeated wearing and washings. They have a nice shimmer to them, which makes them stand out when I’m wearing them.

The colors are bright and vivid. They don’t fade after several washings. They look as red now as when I first got them. The red is my favorite color, but the black and two shades of blue (light and darker) are awesome too. I even have a pair of the white and I am not a big fan of white underwear.

They have a nice wide waist band with colorful, contrasting logo and stripes. One of my favorite parts of the design of the brief is the seams just above the leg holes that are contrasting stitching with a tasteful embroidery look.

If you’re a briefs kind of guy they are a must have for your collection, and if you don’t wear briefs often these might be the pair to change your mind.

Underwear for Men Over 30 – Chris

IMG_5563My name is Chris, and I’m a 37 year old gay male living in the midwest.  I have had a love for mens underwear for as long as I can remember.  I still remember the excitement I felt when I pulled on that very first pair of non-tighty whities.  Now, my collection has grown to over 450 pairs, including all colors and styles – briefs, bikinis, trunks, jockstraps, jock briefs, thongs, and even speedos.
I don’t expect anyone to love underwear like I do, but I do think every man — of every age — should pay more attention to their underwear choices.  The newest underwear fashions aren’t only for guys in their teens and 20’s.  Men in their 30’s (like me) and beyond can and should enjoy the comfort and sensuality of wearing underwear that fit well and are designed to show off their assets.  We all strive to look good on the outside.  I think underwear is just an extension of that.  For me, underwear helps drive my mood:  sometimes, it’s playful and sexy; other times, it’s confidence.
Let’s not forget that underwear performs a much needed function; but a man’s underwear choices should not merely satisfy that simple function.  Underwear can make us more attractive in several ways.  They can improve our self-confidence — making us feel better about ourselves, which in turns makes us more attractive to others.  A pair of underwear that fits well and flatters a man’s body also makes him more attractive, to those lucky enough to get to see them.  Underwear can also help shape and support a man’s anatomy making it more appealing, even through outer layers of clothing.
In short, all men, regardless of their age, should invest in underwear that makes them feel comfortable and sexy, rather than just covering their junk under their jeans.
