The Clever line this year is HUGE. I am really blown away by all the undies they have come out. It’s a great line that I have divided up into categories to make it easier to report. The categories are Tribal, Geometric, Thongs and Swimwear.
This year I think that Clever really put some fun and color in their undies. When you see it you will not think boring. They used colors, patterns and lines to create a really fun line. I personally love to see companies that take risks and try new designs. The world of undies would be so boring with out risk takers. Granted, there is a time and place for classic but we all need those pairs that we wear out that are just FUN!
Clever is the perfect night out for fun undies. This line is for those who want to show their style in their undies as much as their clothes. I know we have readers who do just that, and area always looking for something new and fun.
The line is available in both brief and boxer briefs. Unless it is noted as just one style. Now on to the line.
Tribal
I call it Tribal because it looks like some of the Tribal Tattoos I have seen. It is a major theme in the Clever line. It comes in both printed and solid backgrounds.
- Elements Boxer/Brief is one with a brown pattern background and over printed with the tribal
- Mosaic Tattoo Boxer/Brief – This one is a little darker with a coral and yellow background with the tribal tattoo over the background.
- Tane Brief/Bxoer – This one is more conservative it is either white or gray with pattern printed over the brief/boxer
- Arki Boxer/Brief – Again another more conservative pair. It’s a solid white pair with a choice in black or green waistband. On the seat there is a print of a tribal tattoo in a graduated color print
- Kauri Boxer/Brief – If you really love the tribal prints then this is a pair you will like. It’s another solid base color but with a much larger tribal print. It’s also available in white and black.
Geometric
The next set is the Geographic set. If you like lines and geometric shapes then this is for you. They have lines, patterns and more. Plus not to mention many more colors in this collection.
- Clever Rain Boxer Brief – This is a print that incorporates lines to create a rain pattern. It is available in Red and Grey
- Revolution Boxer/Brief – This is another pattern created by lines. But this time they are diagonal lines that intersect. This effect looks really cool on the pouch! Its available in Green and Grey.
- Drops Boxer/Brief – Now it’s time for a pattern with circles. This pair is created with a dark solid background with white circles. It’s only available in one color.
- Snowballs Boxer/Brief – This is a really cool pair one that has a blue waistband with different color blue dots that create lines. It’s available in one color as well.
- Diamond Brief/Boxer is available in many colors, Red, Blue, Black. The pouch is a solid white but the diamond pattern goes all the way around to the other side of the pouch.
Thongs
We posted on our Facebook page last week about thongs. There are few things that divide the underwear wearing public as much as thongs. We got people who love them, to people who would NEVER wear them. If you are a thong fan then you should check out Clever. A lot of the lines we have told you about above are available in a thong. Clever is one company that has embraced the thong and really put time in the collection. So if you are a thong lover rejoice, Clever didn’t forget about you!
Active
Active wear is one area I think we will see a lot of this year. It just makes sense that underwear companies would focus on this segment. We all spend at least 12 hours in our undies. We need to be comfortable in every situation. Active wear is one area we are seeing innovations in every year. That includes making them more fashionable. Previous years it has been white, black, then they moved into colors and now we are moving in to patterns and making it seem like active underwear can be worn as regular underwear.
- Front Mesh Brief/Boxer – The boxer is more of a trunk fit. It is in Black and white, but don’t let that fool you. The Black has a red waistband with red on the pouch. While the white is a blue waistband and blue accents. The brief is similar but has a solid pouch. The colors available in Black and Blue. The Black has a yellow pouch with a green waistband, while the Blue has a black pouch with blue waistband.
- Natura Boxer and Natura Latin Brief. This is a pair that is a mix of traditional and some color. The top of both styles had a colored patterned print and white at the bottom. The color reflects the waistband which is Green and Grape.
- Ultra Mesh Brief – Mesh is another area that has been popular in men’s underwear. This is not the sexy see through mesh, but more of a sports mesh that will breath. This is available in blue, white and black.
Swim
Last up we have swimwear. We are rapidly approaching spring. Here in Atlanta we have had spring one day and winter the next. The spring days are starting to stay longer and its only a matter of time before we are in summer. Clever had tied in some of the ideas for underwear and made swimsuits in the same style. Its a very cohesive line in both swim and underwear. But if you are not into swim briefs then the swimwear is not for you.
- Jamaica Swimsuit Brief – This one carries on the tribal prints. The tribal prints are a big inspiration for the line and they carried it over in swim. It’s available in Yellow and Green.
- Bluxo Swimsuit Brief – This is not 100% geometric but has that feel. It’s Blue (dark and light) and white pattern.
- Advantage Swimsuit Brief – This pair has very similar styling as the Natura line. With the pattern at the top and solid color at the bottom .
- Exsus Swimsuit Brief – This one i think is really cool. It’s a box pattern with red or blue outlines. It’s definitely very geometric and just a funky fun pattern.
- Deep Blue – This is the last suit. It’s not really a fit in most category but it’s just very cool. It’s Blue with a pattern that is very remnant of water. It is probably my favorite suit they have made.
This is not the entire collection of Clever. I covered more then I thought I would, but feel the collection is so large that you couldn’t go over just a few. It is a pretty great and cohesive collection. I was seriously impressed by it. You can see them here in this post and at some of your favorite underwear retailers.

It’s Tuesday so that mean’s one thing, it’s Baskit $12 Tuesday. This week’s pair is the Ribbed Boxer Brief. So if you are a boxer brief guy you should definitely check out a great pair at a great price. To get the special go to the special section on the Baskit Site.
We are back for more new collections from my recent trip to Magic/Curve. The brand we are covering today is Intymen. I saw the collection at the Underwear Station booth at curve. Just like Good Devil, this brand came onto the underwear scene last year and has taken off.
The new line is coming out or in some cases is out already at retailers. The line ranged from classic styling to some really wild prints. Its an diverse mix of underwear. They also focus more on Boxer briefs this time around. So, if you are a fan then you will have to check out the line.
First up on the new pairs is the Fill It Flex line. This line is available in a brief and boxer. Each style has a soft and supportive pouch but has something different in it. They have a c-ring to show off what you have, but that’s not all it also has lateral openings for easy access. This is very much like the Fill It Jock from last line. Watch for a review of it very soon, the jock that is! Both styles are available in White, Black, Blue and Red.
The next styles we are going to cover in a few bullets. They are single pairs but have really interesting patterns. it’s an interesting mix of undies
- Dragon Boxer – Incredibly sleek and sexy, this fit trunk style boxer features a dragon with Chinese print on the side. Available in white and black.
- Wave Boxer – Smooth lines adorn one side of this very comfortable and supportive Intymen Boxer; the other leg is solid. Available in white and black. This is probably the most conservative pair in the line.
- Peacock Boxer – Let your feather’s fly with the Intymen Pea Cock Boxer. Like all Intymen products, superior quality construction throughout is matched only by comfort and in this case, some incredible pizzazz! If you like interesting prints then you will definitely want to check this pair out.
- Pinky Boxer – Soft and subtle. The Intymen Pinky Boxer is certainly pretty in pink. It has a pink pattern and waistband. It’s an abstract pink print and maybe perfect for a someone who wouldn’t normally wear pink.
- Blue Sand Boxer – Inspired by the Caribbean waters off the coast of Colombia, let the fabric on the Intymen Blue Sand Boxer relax you. Again this is another abstract print with brown, white and blue, with a blue waistband.
The next pair is something I wanted to give a full paragraph for coverage. That pair is the Chrome Brief. We haven’t seen too much metallic. I have seen it in some of the European collections but very few companies here in the states use it. It’s a silver metallic material with a black waistband and leg piping. These would be perfect if someone uses the old pick up line “Are you wearing space pants?” you can reply, no but I am wearing space underwear! I can say this because of the material from Underwear Station mentions about astronaut underwear! They are not for the meek to wear.
We couldn’t do a coverage of Intymen and not go into some mesh! The Veil Boxer, is a boxer made out of very soft mesh. Unlike the previous pairs goes down to your mid thigh and is more of a boxer brief. Intymen says it will be one of the most comfortable pairs you will ever have, so we will definitely review it for you soon!
Last up is an addition to the shapewear line. They are doing an Ab Control Tank. The Ab Control Tank also has built in posture correctness in the back which will straighten you up, giving you a stronger and more masculine appearance while helping avoid lower back strain from slouching. A low cut neck allows you to conceal the undershirt even with a opened collared shirt. They had a full shapewear collection last year and it continues with this shirt.

It’s Sunday and you’re supposed to wear your Sunday best right? Well, today’s Brief Distraction is from aussieBum! Don’t forget your undies when you put on your Sunday Best.
You may have seen the Saxx Underwear video we did with at Curve. We wanted to give you a bit more information about Saxx Underwear and what they have been up to this last year. This is part of the Curve/Magic follow up. I think Saxx is doing some great things and they are doing something different in the world of men’s underwear.
Your brand is growing, for those not familiar with your brand can you tell a little bit about Saxx?
Saxx was founded on a simple inspiration. Make men more comfortable by re-thinking and re-designing men’s underwear. Saxx founder Trent Kitsch came up with the idea for the underwear while on a fishing trip off the coast of Alaska. He was wearing a survival suit for three days and experienced what most men do, discomfort and irritation. He realized that there had to be a better way to design men’s underwear. In 2006 the first pair of Saxx underwear was introduced in a University cafeteria. Trent manufactured 200 
prototypes, which he sold in a matter of minutes to his classmates. The underwear featured integrated parallel mesh side panels, which eliminated contact between a man’s package and inner thigh. The product was an instant hit and introduced a new level of comfort to the men’s underwear market.
Saxx has gone from Saxx apparel to Saxx underwear why the change?
Through the rebranding process that began last year, we found that “Apparel” was just too broad of description for our brand. Saxx is based on underwear and the technology that was created for it. We wanted to make sure that our customers knew we did underwear and only underwear.
What has been the biggest obstacle in this process?
To be honest there hasn’t been that many obstacles in this process. We are a young brand, have only been in the US market for 6 months, and in Canada for 2 years. Customers that were aware of our brand before the name change really knew us as Saxx, not Saxx Apparel. The shift to Saxx Underwear has mostly gone unnoticed.
Anything surprised you (in a good way) while rebranding?
We knew that there would be a response to our new packaging and brand direction, but I don’t think that any of us would have guessed that it would be this positive. The quality of our product has always been there so it’s great to see that we now have the brand image to match.
I had the chance to talk to you at Curve and we did a video, what are some of the new items you have coming out?
For May of this year we have an number of new items coming out for Saxx. The first is the introduction of new colors in all of our fabric lines. That includes Utra, 24 -Seven and Pro Elite. We had been focusing on producing only Black and White until this point, these are still the main colors that men buy in underwear. We will continue to do Black and White but with the colors we now have reach into some new markets. I am personally really excited about having a variety of colors and not just black in my own underwear drawer.
We will also be introducing a new line which we call Luxury. The fabric is a Modal/Cotton/Spandex blend. Modal is an extremely soft, light weight material. Luxury will be available in Black, Navy and White with Red waistband in both Boxer Brief and Trunks cuts.
Along with better fits, an increase size range, we now do XS all the way to XXL, new packaging and new in store POP we have a lot of exciting things happening at Saxx.
