The Twitter dumpster fire rages, and someone pours gasoline to enflame the fire. When this happens, I wonder when it will finally implode, and the kingdom will come crashing down. This is also bad for the underwear community because Twitter is a big space to connect and share with other guys online.
Over the last few months, we have seen some Twitter alternatives come and not entirely take off—sites like Hive and Mastodon. We also have new services like BlueSky come on to the scene. However, I have given Mastodon a second look and Wanted to share a few tips on navigating the site.
- The site design is horrible – Yes, I admit that the site design is terrible. It’s not as “elegant” as Twitter or other sites. Another super confusing is logging in on the server you signed up on. Meaning you can’t go to Mastodon. Social and sign in, you will get an error message. There are apps and other sites that make the service more palatable.
- Following people is more challenging than clicking a button – There are so many servers, and to follow someone, you need to copy and paste their link in the search to find and add them. It took me doing some research to figure this out.
- New Servers are coming online – New servers are coming online dedicated to underwear and gear. I am looking into doing a UNB server, but it isn’t very clear so far.
- Fewer restrictions on Mastodon – One thing I like best is being decentralized; the individual servers set the rules for members to follow and not a group of names people to delete your post because it’s against their TOS.
This post is not about how Mastodon will be the new home of Underwear/gear, but it has more potential than I realized before. Unlike Hive, there has been more activity, and it keeps growing. But don’t worry; I “m sure we will get many more companies making Mastodon apps and the service more straightforward to use. If you are on Mastodon, let me know, and we can follow each other and talk undies/gear.
I had an amazing podcast last night and that podcast will go into detail about the Japanese Underwear market including this amazing brand called GX3. And yes they have a site in English!

It became popular among athletes in various sports and was even used as a medical device for hernia support. The history of the jockstrap has been documented in various articles and books, and this podcast is dedicated to exploring its origins and evolution.

We take you back to 2020 and this super fun bodysuit from Candyman. Do you guys remember the shoot in the club with the pole?
