We got the chance this week to talk to Todd Sanfield, the owner and creator of a new underwear line called Todd Sanfield Underwear. Todd is a model turned underwear designer. During his career he has been on the cover of DNA Magazine twice, which very few guys have ever graced the cover twice. Inside the magazine he wore his own underwear We haven’t seen many models wearing their own underwear. We only know one other designer do that, and that company was Element(o)s.
The line is not for sale yet but they are generating some great buzz about the brand. The line is being designed for everyone. They want 
everyone to feel comfortable to wear it, not just the 18-34 crowd. Todd is also giving the line a classical styling over bright and loud patterns. He is giving the line colors but they are not ones you wouldn’t be scared to wear to the gym.
If you have seen any pictures of the underwear, you have seen Todd wearing them. He believes in his product so much he is willing to be the model and stand behind the brand. He is the designer, owner and model. Todd said he started the line because of his career in modeling. He used to wear some of the different underwear lines and wanted to make something cool and stylish.
The Underwear designed so far has been briefs and boxer briefs/trunks. Which are the current popular styles. One thing i particularly like is the logo in the wrong and the name on the right side. It’s a way of doing the name on the waistband with out over doing it. Its subtle but very stylish.
The company is working on samples to finalize the styles and get it in to production. As soon as that is done, the photoshoots will be done and the site will be updated and sold. For this week’s Undies of the Week, we are featuring the B*Boy Jock Strap Brief. The strap brief is offered in black or white and the straps are a cool combo of the two. Jock straps are a fun, sexy, and revealing choice to add spice to your life personally and outwardly.

I had never really gotten in to jockstraps before I started writing for Underwear News Briefs. I quickly found what I had been missing for almost 26 years of my life. Since my first jockstrap purchase a couple of years ago, I have had the opportunity to try a few styles and brands. I was very excited to find out that I was going to review one of my favorite brands and cuts.
For those of you that are not familiar with Cocksox, they are a men’s underwear company out of Australia. They have done for men’s underwear what “the push-up bra has done for women”. Cocksox has expanded its collections to include not only jockstraps but briefs, thongs, and boxers as well. Their pouch design is unlike any other underwear company out there. It has been designed and tested to fit your package like…well, a sock!
I received the new black Classic Jockstrap in a size medium to review. I have worn the waistband brief and loved it so I was very excited to try the jock. The first thing I noticed was the soft pouch material. It is made of a high quality Supplex fabric that is very soft and very breathable. The waistband is not huge, which was a plus for me, especially if I am looking for a jock for everyday wear. The waistband has the Cocksox logo in a contrasting tan color. The leg straps are also very soft to the touch. I would have to say that I prefer leg straps that don’t twist or curl when you put the jock on. My personal preference is a rounded fabric on the leg straps and not a flat piece, but this isn’t enough reasoning for me to not love this jock. I will say the look of this jock, both on and off, is one of the sexiest pieces of Cocksox gear I have in my underwear arsenal.
I wore this jock a couple of times to the gym. It held up nicely and kept everything in place. It also added a little extra bulge in the front of my mesh shorts to make a few heads turn. I am in the middle of a pretty intense cardio program and never once during my workout did I have to adjust my undies. I also wore this jock to work, and once again, I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Sitting at a desk all day, I sometimes find my undies cramping the goods in the crotch. The Cocksox jock couldn’t have fit any better. It stayed in place and the specially designed pouch provided enough room for everything to fit and rest comfortably.

A fad from the past is steadily emerging in the fashion industry. Tube socks, from the late 70s and through the 80s, are returning with a vengeance. Some may remember these being called “Kool-Aid” socks. These bring back so many memories for me, and not all good, unfortunately. When I was in elementary and middle school, my parents would buy these socks for me to wear at school. During the warmer days, I hated having these socks on my legs while the “cool” kids had their new ankle socks. I would roll the tops of my socks down so that the color rings would not show. Today, however, I proudly wear these socks. Think back to the popular shows of the 80s, say “The Wonder Years”, “Punky Brewster”, or “Silver Spoons” and remember how many times you saw these socks on people. They wore them for the world to see. Even the adult movie industry made good use of them!
To go along with the retro tube sock, UNB has featured the Pulse Retro Jock that sports the matching color bands. How cool is it that now, your socks and your underwear can match again. When guys were wearing the original color briefs with white piping, they were matching them to their socks with singular colors such as wearing their white tubes with blue bands and their blue briefs. A year or two ago, I found a pack of fantastic boot socks from Journeys®. They are still my most favorite socks to wear, especially since it has been an exceptionally cold winter. These tube socks are long enough that they cover my kneecaps when I pull them up. 
I have them in blue/red, green/yellow, and brown/orange. When I wear them, I feel like I am back in the 80s with a better appreciation for them. How could I have covered those rings when I was a teen. Maybe I could have been the one to bring them back into style!
A fad we’ve seen emerging in primarily dress socks is silk. These can be found in almost any color of the rainbow. Sites have been created specifically for lovers of this type of sock. Silk is very sheer and is quite see-through. Silk socks are about the closest thing a guy can have to women’s pantyhose. I have worn silk socks and I have to admit they feel different, if not weird, for the first few times they’re worn, but you do get accustomed to their lightness and ability to breathe. The smooth feel of these socks are amazing. One thing you may consider purchasing before getting into silk socks is sock garters. Yes, men wear garters, too! I found mine online somewhere, but you can find them at Sock Dreams. Personally, I find them very attractive. Not only can underwear spice up your life, but also socks. Who knew something we tend to look over could be sexy!
Many men like to match the color of their dress socks with their underwear. In the ever growing fashion market in underwear and socks, this isn’t hard to accomplish. Companies are starting to create designs of all sorts to match the demand of their customers. You can find then in horizontal and vertical stripes, paisley, plaid, and various geometrical patterns. Being a man of habit, I tend to match as much as I can. I knew a guy a few years ago that I knew what color underwear he had on by looking at his shirt. The same idea goes along with socks. If you are brave to try new things, go out and buy different colors of socks. You will find a different person inside that has been dying to come out all along.
Wearing sports socks for everyday wear is a fad that appears every now and then. When I say sports socks, I mean socks you would normally see worn on the soccer (futbol) field (as seen at the top), baseball socks with the vertical color stripes on the sides, or socks with the solid colors at the top (about 5-6 inches) while the bottoms are white (as shown here). I have wanted to buy some of the more American football socks. I am sure they could be found in sports stores such as
Dick’s Sporting Goods® or online at Eastbay®. I have a few pairs of baseball socks in blue and red..
Finding out what socks people have on, to me, is like finding out what kind of underwear someone is wearing. They both let you know the person a bit more. For instance, I bought a pair of Spiderman underwear last week. I love them because they make me feel like a big kid. On the same token, if you lifted the leg of my pants, there might be a pair of Auburn University socks, reflecting my favorite team in college football.
Along with the popularity of underwear in the men’s fashion world, we can see an ever increasing popularity of socks. I guess in one way or another, they are linked together as they are both necessary articles of clothing to many. On the other hand, we see just as many people who do not wear socks as we do of men that go commando. Either way, socks continue to be an interesting material of clothing that brings joy and spice to people’s lives.

UNB has again sent me a new brand of undies to add to my ever expanding collection. Piss & Vinegar is a brand that, just by its name, is intriguing and according to my boyfriend, fits my personality well.
Piss and Vinegar is actually British slang for “living young at heart”, and made its debut at The Las Vegas Pool Tradeshow at the end of last summer. Jason Sutherland, designer and creator behind Piss and Vinegar and also the former president of Ginch Gonch, has brought the playfulness of Ginch Gonch to the more grown up arena. Piss and Vinegar is designed for the guy that doesn’t want to fit into the traditional cultural and conditioned stereotypes. Piss and Vinegar’s underwear is made of 96% Pima, a very soft and comfortable cotton, and 4% Lycra to give it just enough stretch to mold to and move with your body. All of their underwear comes with a 1.25 inch microfiber elastic logo waistband.
I received the ”I Love Girls” Cartoon Brief in size 32 (M) to review. This is one style that is available from the Piss and Vinegar’s “I Love…” Collection, also available with themes like the controversial “I love Jesus” and “I love Buddha” briefs as well as “I love Boys”, “I love Girls” and a few other eye catching styles. The entire collection comes in briefs, boxer briefs, low rise briefs, and jock straps. I slipped these on right after receiving them, like I do whenever I get undies to review. The first thing I noticed was that the fabric is very soft and the pattern was fun and colorful. There was plenty of coverage in the back, but that wasn’t the case in the front. I thought they could have added a little more fabric to the pouch area, as it felt a little cramped. I took them off and put them aside to wear the next day… ALL DAY, as that would be the true test.
When I wore them for an extended period of time, I found that the cramped feeling I got in the pouch area wasn’t as noticeable and I didn’t seem to mind it much. They stayed with me all day and didn’t ride up at all. I did have a little bunching in the rear towards the end of the day but nothing that would stop me from wearing them again and again. I also decided to take them one step further and wear them during my cardio workout that night. They held up really well and even with a little sweat, they did great. They didn’t offer a lot of support in the front when I was exercising, but I don’t think Piss and Vinegar had that in mind when they designed these.

Material is important to consider when choosing the right pair for you. We have more selections today than we have ever seen. Cotton, silk, and spandex are just a couple of choices offered to men. The many styles of dress socks are examples of the different materials offered in almost any style, primarily found in over-the-calf and crew cuts.
When picking out the socks you want, be sure to read the package to see how the tops of the socks are created and with what enhancements they have to avoid falling down. Nothing is more irritating than having to stop and pull up your socks over and over again. You may have to buy more than one design before you find the one you are comfortable with. I have bought many pairs of socks and then either threw them away or gave them to the partner because they did not hold up as well as they should. If you buy a pair you really love and they do not stay pulled up, you may want to invest in a male sock garter. These are often seen when someone is wearing a suit or a fancier pair of dress slacks. Honestly, you can wear them with whatever you want. I own a pair just in case I find that perfect pair of dress socks.
As you can see in the above pictures, some brands place a strip of elasticized material in the middle of the foot. This piece has a great purpose. It forces the sock to stay in place instead of bunching at the toe. It also gives extra support to the natural arch in your foot. I love my Starter® crews and Ralph Lauren® ankles that sport this feature. I wish more brands added this to their design.
Wool socks are nothing new. These have been around for many years, but I, like many, am a late bloomer when it comes to areas of fashion. My partner and I own a few pairs of wool hiking socks that are at the top of the comfort scale. Whether we are walking up the side of Stone Mountain (northeast of Atlanta, GA) or lying on the couch at home, these socks will keep our feet comfy and toasty.
